I Purchased the note 20 Ultra 5G in USA and shipped it to Australia.
I later found out that the US Note 20 Ultra 5G variant doesnt have band n78, which is the main band of Asutralias best 5g provider, Telstra.
I am wondering if anyone knows conclusively if the s7 5g or s7+ 5g has the n78 band, some websites denote it does, others say it doesnt, but i feel they might be reffing to the LTE version sometime which of course does not have n78 5G band. This is the US variant from Samsung.com website.
Thanks in advance

Hi, the tab S7 plus 5G hold those frequences in 5G = n1 (2100), n28 (700), n41 (2500), n77 (3700), n78 (3500), n79 (4700)
so it should work, that's what i think
If there is SA enabled then it might work but otherwise I think not because this device doesn't support LTE anchor band used in US. To confirm bands support need log from tablet modem: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...tions-from-your-android-phone/#Scat_(Qualcomm)

Hi i just asked this in a new thread but after noticed this reply.
Would you mind me asking where you found this information? as i have seen mixed information online about 5g bands.

Hello all!
I bought a Note 20 5G N9810 to replace my aging Note 9. The N9810 is the Open China/Hong Kong version with SD865 and 265GB, as opposed to the Exynos model available in the UK.
Phone works great, battery lasts easily a whole day of heavy use. VoLTE and VoWiFi work fine with EE's network.
I have not been able to connect to 5G though. While the phones comes with N1, N41, N78 and N79 bands it doesn't seem to work on EE's network - which uses N78 bands.
I called EE customer care and they advised that since it has the correct 5G bands it should work and they couldn't identify the issue.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

Hi
I imported Snapdragon version of Note 20 Ultra and can confirm same issue.
No 5G on 5G ready SIMs in 5G locations. Tested both Three and EE in Glasgow and Edinburgh UK
Did you buy it from wondamobile?

Hello,
I am looking to buy an unlocked S21 from Samsung Canada store (SM-G991W) and I checked here :
S21 differences that the following 5G bands: n2, n41, n66, n71 are the ones supported by the Candian model so my question is:
Is it possible to change the supported bands? For example, if I travel to a country where the used 5G band is the n28, will the S21 support this band. If so, how please?
Btw, I have seen some users changing Network bands on Samsung devices without root so I want to make sure that it works with the 5G bands especially from someone who have a S21 please?
Here is the link of the short tutorial: Un/Locking LTE Bands on Samsung I am talking about.
Thanks for your help

The SM-G911W had the following technical specifications for mobile network 5G: 2, 5, 25, 41, 66, 71, 260, 261.
Check here for differences of the S21 5G variants:
Samsung Galaxy S21 5G Model Number SM-G991* Differences - TechWalls
There are a lot of model numbers of the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G on the market but all of them start with SM-G991. To find out all the differences, you can check the comparison table below.

AFAIK this is caused by hardware. So no software related "unlocking".
I had the S20 ultra G9880 in Australia and the 5G was blocked after an update in August 2020. I am wondering if anyone in Australia has the 9980 S21 ultra hong kong version and on Telstra or Optus and 5G is working?
Please help

Same problem....I had the s20 Ultra and it stopped working on Telstra. Got a new s21 in the hope it would be fine and still nothing. Checked my plan with Telstra and they tell me 5g is enabled.... The phone has b78 band but still nothing. Just been a big waste of money

Damn.... I really don't like the Exynos 2100. so laggy in games. looks like I'll just have to sell my Exynos S21 Ultra and get maybe the Xiaomi 11 Ultra or something similar
I recently purchased this model for the snapdragon processor and can confirm that Telstra 5G network does not work. This was also confirmed by Telstra who said it is not a supported model, but in future, it could be allowed. ETA is unknown on this. Disappointing to say the least.
I Installed the latest Samsung update today and now have a 5G connection!

Hey @MAX 404
Previously installed the regular Samsung updates as they came through. I noticed I had a carrier update on my note 9, so manually checked for an update on my S21 ultra.
Carrier is Telstra in Australia. I've attached a screenshot of Software information for reference.
I believe Telstra use n78 band which was blocked on the SM-G9980 model when I initially got the phone.
Hope it helps for those wanting a snapdragon S21 ultra.

Hi
thanks for the info it will for sure help other like you
Definitely had to be related with the N78 band , is the only band available "down under" for 5G
Great is working!!
Now when European S23 Ultra is using Snapdragon - will it provide better 5G connection capabilities in US - especially on TMobile network? Or is it still locked to the same (limited) bands as Exynos S22?
thanks
It's SM-S918B or SM-S918B/DS right?
It would partially get 5G specifically for TMo where areas have n41 (2500)
Only the SM-S918U or U1 has the mmWave antennas
These are what T-Mobile uses for 5G
n260 mmWave (39GHz)
n258 (24 GHz)
n261 mmWave (28GHz)
n71 (600)
n41 (2500)
SM-S918B/DS.
Ok - so it looks like it will not be better in US than S22 Ultra Exynos.
