Yes, you can use HiSuite and HiSuite proxy to upgrade to official Android 9.1 https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/hisuite-proxy-huawei-phones-updater-t4082561
You can download the Firmware finder app (by Team MT) in GP store on your tab and check what is lastest OS (Full OTA) for your tablet (Android 9.1 I guess). After setup of HiSuite Proxy, Enter the filelist link (you find it in the app) into "package URL" HiSuite Proxy, remove all other text, and check "point version" by package URL and run setup. Then you can start up HiSuite and connect your tablet to your PC and "check for updates". That shall start the upgrade.

Yes, exactly :good: Yes. Don't need to use Cust Pkg and preloaded PKG, just let them stay emty. At least I didn't need to
Also, since you are updating from A8 to A9 a factory reset afterwards is recommended. At least if you are experiencing issues etc. after the update :silly:

Did you remove the links and model in the others? (Cust and preloaded). Could also try to enter the same link in all. If nothing works, you may need the Cust and preloaded package to update your device.. Weird how I didn't need to do so on my M5 10" :silly:

After some research it seems like you will need the cust and preloaded package to update from A8 to A9.. So that is probably why I didn't need it, as I was already on A9 and just updated to the latest version.. Hope you get it sorted out
were you able to make it to work?
eh i cant find cust & preloaded for 9.0/9.1...

Hello everyone,
<<DISCLAIMER>> The procedure is causing Serial no. wipe out and DRM issuse. Please follow this on your own risk. Or wait till solution is available for Serial no. and DRM issue
I've been spending a little bit of free time trying to research the downgrade possibility released Mi Box (Android TV MDZ-16-AB) from Nougat 7.0 beta to the stable MM 6.0.
It had been known that it is not possible due to locked bootloader of 7.0 firmware.
As researching i came across 4pda thread where one claims that its possible and have some steps to do so.
Disclaimer:
1. This is not my original creation. I am just trying to help others but capturing bit and pieces together from various places into a tutorial.

Steps:
1. Flash the box with Nougat 7.0 beta 1028 firmware.
once-7.0-1028.zip
for those already on the older Nougat Beta (build 924 or something): you will notice that your remote won't work in recovery, so you're unable to choose the *.zip file on your USB-Stick to update unless you have a USB-Hub and plug in a keyboard in addition to the USB-Stick.
There is a solution (thanks to the update guides for the other Miboxes):
Warning: I can confirm that this procedure wipes out user data and your box will be reset to factory default
a. create a file called "xiaomi_update" (yes, without any fileending) an write into it "--update_package=/udisk/update.zip".
b. Save it to your USB-Stick (FAT32 formated) and copy once-7.0-1028.zip also to USB-Stick and rename your once-7.0-1028.zip file to update.zip.
c. Plug it into your MiBox, boot to recovery with the known trick (press back and OK simultaneously while plugging in power) and the update starts all by itself.
After update the box may reset to factory default. configure the box and move to next step
2. Download below file and extract it. pull out rom3s.img and put it on the box internal storage in the download directory.
XIAOMIS3_FLASH_FILES_GLOBAL.zip
3. Connect the cable to the device , enable debugging.
3.1. Turn on developer options and ADB Debugging.
3.2. Setting> About> last item in the list> Click OK 7 times.
3.3. Go to Setting> developer option> Debugging> Turn ON
4. Open the command line and go to adb and follow below steps
Code:
adb devices
Se if your device is listed and ready.
Code:
adb root
Gives root access
5. We need to backup for worst scenario
Code:
adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/backup-3_once.img bs=1024 count=524288
exit
adb pull /storage/emulated/0/download/backup-3_once.img
to roll back to the original version, rename backup-3_once.img to rom3s.img and completely follow the whole instructions
6. Flash the rom3s.img file already placed in download folder
Code:
adb shell
dd if=/storage/emulated/0/download/rom3s.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0
7. After flash is finished writing exit
Code:
exit
8. Reboot to recovery
Code:
adb reboot recovery
9. Download once-6.0.1-1304.zip and put it on a USB stick
In case above firmware gives problem then download MiBOX3S_USA_once_r454.zip from 4PDA.ru unrar it and put it on a USB stick
10. Insert the USB stick in mibox and flash the firmware as usual through recovery.
After flash is complete your MI box should be on Marshmallow now.
I can confirm that the remote does work in recovery if you are on 7.0 beta 1028 release.
Note: I have not tried it on my box yes as i am travelling and wont be able to access my box until end of this month. My box is on 7.0 beta 1028 release so i m half way and would be doing the other half as soon as i get access to my box
Please leave comments when you give it a try.
anyone try this yet, it seems that DRM will be lost (so no Netflix, no Google cast...)?
help me?
Can someone help me? I did this Nougat Downgrade 7.0 beta procedure for MM 6.0 Stable. and netflix is no longer working
Can anyone make a backup copy of "backup-3_once.image" and send me please? because I forgot to back it up and now neither netflix nor google cast is working
I succesfully rolled back from Beta nougat to MM using this guide.
The only issue now is the serial number of the device has been erased. Do you know how to change it back?

I can confirm that netflix is not working Unfortunately I dont think you can restore your old "backup-3_once.image" since you cannot get root access on ADB so maybe we can just upgrade to the beta again.

friend, I got back to nougat version 7.0 beta 1028. and I get to use the adb commands. I think if I could get this backup "backup-3_once.image" I would be able to revert to my box. to run Netflix and Google cast again. plus I do not have this "backup-3_once.image", I forgot to back it up
Is netflix still not working after you flash 7.0 beta 1028?
I am currently on Beta 1028 and unable to use "adb root".
I would like to flash the recommended firmware linked in the guide but both the Beta 1028 firmware and the stable MM firmware are about 150kb in size. Does anyone have the correct download links?

You are absolutely correct. DRM will totally disappear. You are better off to stick with the Nougat beta, either build 928, 1024 or 1035.
Typically shortsighted move by the guys on the Russian site. They have zero appreciation of the critical need for DRM for most westerners.

A few problems here. First , once-6.0.1-1304.zip is a bogus download, it's like a 135K file from Uploadify. It's not a complete firmware at all.
Secondly all the download links for MiBOX3S_USA_once_r454.zip are for the accursed Yandisk, so no direct download, and even if you try to register for an account with them and verify your phone number, it will still say access restricted.
So - for all intents and purposes you can't download the 6.0.1 firmware from either method you list.
Do you have an actual, direct working download link for the firmware? Are you able to upload to MEGA or somewhere else if you have a local copy? Thanks.
Do not downgrade through this procedure or you will lose access to netflix and google cast. I did and I'm breaking my head to try to restore the DRM.

I have the same problem and I have not found a solution yet, now it is expected to leave the official 7.0 update to see if it solves this or will be the way to buy another box.

I honestly wouldn't expect the official update to resolve this issue, especially since reflashing an earlier Nougat beta still fails to restore to original condition. Seems like the mangling of partition data by installing foreign rom has created irreversible glitch.
It's up to the goofs who proposed this issue to create a fix to restore original conditions prior to their meddling.
Hi,i want to ask someone who has the mi tv box 3 international AB makes backup the official MM 6 rom and share.
the commands is
1)adb devices = must show the device ID
2)adb root
3)adb shell
4)dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/backup-3_once.img bs=1024 count=524288
5)exit
i think with this way we can go back to MM and work again the netflix and google cast,i have try to go back to MM from Nougat but I loose the netflix and google cast ,now i am going back to nougat from my backup who create before and alls works again ,netflix and google cast.
Thanks in advance.

This post hasn't instruction on how we can downgrade from Nougat? do you have any instruction to downgrade nougat to MM 6?
These update packages should work on global variant Nokia X6.
Usage:
Confirm your current version by dialing *#*#227#*#* before update.
Then download the package and rename to the specific filename I gave, place it to root directory of internal storage and dial *#*#874#*#* to update.
After the update procedure completed, update package will be deleted from your phone automatically.
Global Release:
Note: From DRG-250A build, it blocked current bootloader unlock method, be careful.

Hello,
*#*#227#*#* works well.
*#*#874#*#* has no response at all. Is root or bootloader required to do that?
I just realize the X6 I bought from ebay is global firmware version, which does not support OTA. Use OTA to update to latest firmware is a key feature I am looking for. I do not care it is China version or Global version.
Do you have any suggestion that what should be the easiest way? Hopefully no bootloader required. Thanks!
google play pretent CN OTA?
Boss,
After discuss with many other user, we think it is because I am using China version rom, but installed Google play, which pretent OTA update.
Do you think so? Could you give us a solution?

No, it will not destroy the warranty at all. As for the camera app, go to the app's settings and try wiping its data completely. Then reboot your phone and try again.

Well, that didn't do the trick, but I just simply clicked 'disable' after wiping the data and it gave me a message of "uninstalling app and installing factory camera app" which worked beautifully.
Now everything's working fine.

Hi
I have Mate 20 Pro (Lya-L09, EMUI 9.0.0) that I upgraded from original firmware to 9.0.0.210 using MikeOS method.
Now i just want it back to stock as when i 'check for updates' it never finds any even though i know new firmware has been released OTA.
I have downloaded updated firmware through Firmware Finder (tried both through the phone and through the app)
However, no method seems to work (I've tried all of them). They usually just error out or nothing at all. I've tried/looked at different tools: SP Flash, Flashy, Dload (dialer and eRecovery), MikeOS.
I'm happy to lose everything and start again, i just don't know how and I'm going around in circles looking at various websites and threads.
Any help appreciated.
Which cust is your device ? Cxxx ?
Does your bootloader is unlocked ?

Try changing your home internet/Wi-Fi DNS and then use eRecovery. Some ISPs may block access to China sites. At least mine does. When I use my home Wi-Fi, I can't access some China sites, but if I use my cell network instead, I can access those sites without problem.
Factory reset your phone first might help. Since you tried so many ways to update, you might have messed up some system files.

If i'm using the Hisuite update method, how do i point it to the b212 flash? Wouldn't Hisuite just look online for an update?

You register an approved B212 on FirmwareFinder, then you used patched hisuite with FirmwareFinder DNS and the Hisuite's update option.
That should update you to B212.

Holy smokes! This worked! I can't thank you enough!
I had some issues originally of HiSuite just kept closing on my laptop when i clicked 'update'. Took about 5 goes and having HiSuite showing on my phone for the update to begin.
Have since downloaded new update OTA (273).
Awesome!

So far on kirin980 there is only dirty-softrebrand. (DC-Phoenix flash or forced hisuite flash or even possibly renamed dload package flash)
Meaning device's vendorcountry stays the same, but with cust and preload forced to another region. Beware of that on emui10 where it seems there is checks at boot about cust&preload version.

I was happy to order a mate 20 pro for 490 euro for a dual Sim but got the single sim sim locked version. I have returned the product asking for a refund. ?.
Hello everyone!
I spent the last few days trying to flash a stock emui 9 or 9.1 version to my Mate20Pro (C432) because my carrier notified me, that the emui 10 update is officially available.
I was finally able to go to version . 347 by following this guide: click
A few hours later I was offered the emui 10 update and it installed well.
The exact build nr is now: 10.0.0.154(C432E7R1P5patch01)
Only thing left: Root access.
And here's where the problems start:
The Bootloader was relocked somewhere down the road (the update to .347 probably). Now, I've had this issue before, jumping back and forth between ROMs, but was always able to re-unlock my bootloader with my code I got from funkyhuawei (back in the days).
Now when I try to unlock it now, following this procedure:
- turn usb debugging on
- confirm to always trust my computer
- open console - adb devices: I see my device.
- adb reboot bootloader: reboots the phone gracefully
- reached fastboot mode - bootloader lock confirmed. frp locked: no
- in terminal: fastboot devices: check
- fastboot oem unlock xxxxx
--> here i get following output:
Failed. Invalid command.
Has anyone also had this issue? is this some kind of security mechanism (did they change the unlock code?) Or did they chamge the fastboot command set?
What I've checked so far:
- usb drivers are installed (reinstalled them even)
- hisuite is installed (also tried it with uninstalling first)
- terminal is running as admin
- tried different usb cables
- googling
I would really appreciate all thoughts, ideas or experiences with this issue.
Thanks in advance!
On EMUI10 (at least early builds), it's normal behavior.
It's seem that oem unlock's fastboot command was made invalid or was modified...
It's told rolling back to emui9 B346 or B347 will open bootloader back or at least will enable back fastboot and old oem unlock commands.
Does magisk creator @topjohnwu achieved something related to emui10 ?

Were you able to unlock bootloader or downgrade to 9.1 with locked bootloader or fix this issue by any means?
You can rollback to 9.1 using stock hisuite.
If rollback prompt is not shown, you can trigger it with 'Hisuite launcher' from Magnot.

Rollback link is shown from Hisuite 's update option, not from Hisuite' s recovery option.
thank you for the heads up about rooting and emui 10, i have been tempted to try it for myself but had to much to do at home and at work, but i will wait a bit more.
also: dload version will always lock the bootloader
I was able to install CUST and PRELOAD for lya-l09 emui 10 using dload method and it fixed the issue. Thank you.

I have funkyhuawei account but still that was unable fix the issue. So what i did was:
I choose 365 ver in funkyhuawei website and tried flashing it using modded hisuite. When it downloaded the firmware i replaced the 365 firmware files like CUST AND PRELOAD with EMUI 10 version, it failed at the beginning. I keep on retrying multiple times and final it flashed CUST and PRELOAD and my system booted with EMUI 10 .

Do you have the link or if you could upload please the modded hisuite? Appreciate it.
EDIT
So in the dload folder, you used the main update zip from the 9.1 (365) and the custom and preload zips from emui 10? Thanks. (asking also since you say you booted in emui 10 even though from what you have described you seem to have had the main update zip in 9.1...or was it the other way around?)
(I tried-though on mate 20x and the software installation failed-restart-so is that what you tried many times? (in the erecovery update through card/otg option?)
Highly appreciate your clarification here (might just help me get out of this emui10 mess)

Modded hisuite only work, if you have funkyhuawei account and required credits for that account.
Yes, thats correct i used main update.zip is from 9.1 and custom and preload are from emui 10.
Currently your mobile already have emui 10(update.zip). But when mobile boots it goes through custom and preload and then it loads Operating System(emui 10).
In order to fix it . You need to load custom and preload for supporting emui 10.
If you have a regular hisuite, try erecovery mode.
Hisuite will download a package(update.zip, custom.zip and preload.zip) in documents folders if you are using Windows system. Once it downloads them, it will unzip those files and then it starts flashing customs, preload and then update(in this order). You need to figure out a way, to replace custom and preload folder with emui 10 files before Hisuite start flashing them.
so, since bootloader unlock is not longer possible with emui 10 i will give the phone to one of my kids so it will be a youtube interface, myself ordered a s20+ and hopefully samsung will treat me right.
So I've seen a few people here complaining they can't install google stuff on their phone because they've upgrade it to the latest EMUI version.
Here's an easy way to downgrade to a previous firmware. This works on the P40 version, but it should work on any P40 variant.
1. Download the firmware of your choice from the web. For the P40 european here's a link (it worked on my ANA-NX9 phone:
https://androidhost.ru/XyS
2. Put the ''dload'' folder found in the zip at the root of a usb stick
3. Attach the usb stick to you phone. I take it anyone knows how to do it. Shutdown your phone. Then press and hold volume up and power button until you get to the recovery menu
4. Select Update mode, then select Memory card/OTG update mode
5. The phone will verify and install the firmware
At this point you'll be able to re-install all the google stuff, no more errors when trying to install the Chinese app. Needless to say, disable automatic firmware updates.
For region C10 is suitable ?

I will answer my own question - Yes, it works with the region c10

Anyone try P40 Lite 5G? ( CDY-NX9A or Nova 7 5G )
Hello,
I tried to do the same to downgrade my P40 Pro. I've downloaded the correct firmware from androidhost, device version is the same. But I got an "incompatibility with current version" error when selected to update with USB. Any idea what went wrong and how to get it done properly? Thanks!
make sure you do it thru recovery

Has anyone (beside schumimtl ) already used this guide with the P40 and can confirm that that the linked firmware really works?
I don't want to brick my phone.
Hi, anyone know where to find firmware for ANA-NX9 C636E6R4P1? I did find anywhere but seems not found. Mostly is the EUR version firmware. Not sure if I flash to EUR firmware, it will cause any problem or not to my device.

Thanks for the post. My P40 was downgraded successfully. Now with the GMS installation. So far I have tried 2 methods but was unsuccessful. Stuck with adding google account.
Could anyone recommend a method working on this version? TIA
I have downgraded my p40 c432 form version 147 to 114 using this method (I did by myself I have just found the thread xd).
Phone has been updated to .121
And I have achieved to install GMS following this method
