VOLte support? - Motorola One Zoom (aka Pro) Questions & Answers

Hi all , I am not sure , does the Moto Zoom support VOLte?
I got an SMS from my provider saying my phone does not support 4G for calling...
not sure if they're just trying to sell me another phone or is it true... I can't find anything in the settings!
Thanks in advance!

I own two phones. The other is less feature than the Motorola phone, which is Alcatel, but I received an update yesterday, which was brought with it Vowifi and Volte .
If your Motorola phone is running a raw Android system why it didn't get the update number 10.3

VoLTE debate

I really don't see the reason to have VoLTE enable on our device: this is probably cause I never tried it out, cause I didn't have a reason to do that: the calling quality is already good.
So, my question is for who are using this feature: does it really improve the quality? Is the improvement sensible or is only a "placebo effect"?
Someday I'll surely try it, and I want to arrive to that moment prepared and without fake hopes
I think u are not an Indian.
Redmi note 3 snapdragon version was specially designed for Indian market, the reason why Indians in most of custom ROM want volte is because of Reliance Jio which is a new and the fastest growing telecom company in the world.
The company provides us free 1 GB 4g internet everyday, free voice calls and video calls and subscription to its many entertainment apps.
The problem we face is that the sim works on only volte enabled 4g phones so if volte is not working in ROM we have to download an app which enables us to make calls on non volte supported 4g phones which we don't like.
Plus with volte we get full HD voice which is impressive.
So volte is very important for Indians.
Press the thanks button if u are satisfied.

VoLTE is not supported by your current software version

Hi,
I just got my 965 Dual Sim and I am trying to enable VoLTE on AT&T network. Whenever I try to enable the feature the phone gives me a "VoLTE is not supported by your current software version. Contact customer service for more details". Anyone got any ideas as to how to get this to work?
More than likely you'll have to wait to see if an AT&T CSC will be available for Exynos devices. Same situation as Canada

Same problem here .is there any solution to enable volt
Many networks have problems dropping calls with VoLTE enabled. Even if you have the option, I suggest leave it disabled/disable it.

SM-G965F/DS on MetroPCS

What is the best way to try to get working Wi-Fi Calling and VoLte on this model phone? Just ordered it yesterday so I don't have it yet
Thanks
I am not a developer but experienced user.
There is MUCH confusion about VOLTE .
To get VOLTE in the past on 99% of phones you needed 2 Things .
1] A VOLTE capable phone .
2] Network SOFTWARE on that phone to enable VOLTE ( and often WIFI calling ). This means you only get VOLTE on Tmobile , for example with a Tmobile BRANDED [ or Metro OCS phone ] with the preinstalled software from the Manufacturer for that specific NETWORK.
Android was supposedly going to ADD this into their system but I don't think it's possible technically or legally.
A friend as recently as a week ago on SPRINT had an S9 with a VOLTE On/OFF setting and when he engaged VOLTE is affected call quality negatively - I heard it.
This is one of the reasons Sprint is merging with TMO , IMO.
I have heard rumors of 'generic ' or AT&T Iphones having VOLTE on Metro PCS/Tmobile for example but real VOLTE stays on LTE always and you never lose Internet due to a call - simultaneous STABLE voice and data is the benefit - not some little trick on /off thing.
If the F/DS is an Exynos you may have issues however someone pointed out in another thread that the Exynos should work with T-Mo WiFi calling.
I am using the firmware for the 965U1, it is generic software for US Based Snapdragon phones. When I flashed and put my SIM in, it detected T-Mobile and set up WiFi calling automagically. The VoLTE also works with no adjustments or settings.
So I am thinking at a minimum you should be able to get WiFi calling. Hopefully.

Is there anyway to get VoLTE in the US for LYA-L29?

Get your carrier to enable volte on your service. Restart your phone and it should work

Do I have to take it to the store for them to do it, or can I just call customer service?
The other response is incorrect. Huawei has a whitelist of carrier MCC/MNC for VoLTE support. US carriers are not on it for LYA-L29.
VoLTE working fine in the middle east for the LYA-L29 for those who are wondering.
I don't know about North America though.

Volte works fine on the P20 Pro. Since that phone was never sold or supported in the USA there is no reason US carriers would be on a whitelist.
Volte also works fine on the Xiaomi MI Mix 2 & 2S which aren't sold or supported here.
Same problem in Canada too...the carrier has to work with Huawei to turn the feature on. I upgraded from an S7Edge which WAS VoLTE enabled by the carrier, so the account has the feature, but it did not automatically carry over.
Looks like there will be a few months before we get this, seeing how long it took for P20 Pro.
Anyone on UK EE with VoLTE available?

I'm using MintMobile with the Mate 20 Pro. I found out that this carrier does not provide VoLTE service.

Hola
Can you please elaborate. For some of our carriers in Canada VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are only enabled with carrier branded phones. This is particularly true for Rogers and Fido. If you are dealing with Shaw, Telus and Bell I have seen different scenarios that certain non branded phones working ok for VoLTE and other phones not working at all.
I am with Fido and I bought the Mate 20 Pro from them and VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling work.

I'm with Videotron...hence the difference. They have been notoriously slow to enable the feature on new phones.
On the flip side, I was getting VoLTE on my old phone which was NOT bought from them (it was first registered on Koodo).
Rogers does not allow that -as you mentioned.

A follow-up on my own post:
- we all knew the Canadian version L0C is NOT dual-SIM - I finally got a chance to test this. Bummer.
- I put in my phone a Rogers SIM and VoLTE and VoWiFi WERE INSTANTLY ENABLED. So the software supports it, has to be enabled by the provider via the SIM cfg. Somewhat positive news - as we all thought, Rogers would only allow VoLTE on the phones they sell, the test proved this is not the case.

I can definitely tell that the call quality is a LOT better in my case with VoLTE on, as it uses HD codecs (G.722).
You can try for yourself by turning VoLTE ON and then play with WCDMA vs LTE settings...one will disable it right away. In my case even the call button in the dialer shows HD.
And yes, the damn icon is hideous and won't go away even with System Tuner.

MintMobile does provide Volte but they have no idea which phone models it works on so they don't advertise Volte. I had Volte functionality on MintMobile with One Plus 5, Essential PH-1, Xiaomi Mix 2 & Mix 2S, and Huawei P20 Pro.
But it does not work with this phone.
On Telus, the first time I set the phone up it made me jump through a hoop where I went to a Telus site and enabled the VOxxx stuff. Strangely, it seemed to be kinda random whether it was 'on' or not, and before the last 2 updates I don't think you could even trust the icon to be telling you the truth. I'm not sure why this feature is a big deal, codecs or not the voice quality seems fine on this phone regardless. Some people claim that enabling any of the VO stuff gobbles battery, I haven't really noticed.
Much like the AOD, it is sad that we have almost no control over the icons at the top - especially when space is at such a premium there.

VoLTE support for the LG G5 US Unlocked model (RS988)

With the impending 3G network shutdowns by AT&T (on Feburary 2022) and T-Mobile (already done in January 2021; Sprint network will in Janurary 2022), I'm badly in need of another option. My current LG Nexus 5 (International version) won't enable me to survive these shutdowns, as it lacks the full LTE band support for the United States carriers.
After searching for another phone model with the criteria of removable battery, USB-C and unlockable bootloader, I settled on the following listing for a LG G5 (RS988): https://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-G5-RS98...M-Unlocked-Smartphone-8-10-18174/164707426461
The main thing I care about here is whether I can get VoLTE support at all, so that I can continue receiving cellular service beyond 2021. I currently use Cricket, an MVNO which uses AT&T as its network. Unfortunately, AT&T has a whitelist of devices that are allowed to use VoLTE on their network: https://www.att.com/ecms/dam/att/consumer/help/pdf/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf. They do list the AT&T version of the LG G5 (H820), but it is bootloader locked. If I cannot use get this phone to work on AT&T, I will have no choice but to switch to T-Mobile or an MVNO using its network, such as MetroPCS. They have already shutdown their main 3G network, and also require VoLTE, but at least they don't have a whitelist that only allows me to use certain devices.
Looking at the custom ROMs, including LineageOS, it seems that none of them have VoLTE support, which is critical for me if I decide to switch to T-Mobile or one of their MNVOs. I could also see if there are any ROMs based on the stock ROM. If all else fails, I can resort to using the stock ROM/OS and then root it. However, this opens up another problem: I cannot tell if there exists a stock Android 8.1 Oreo ROM for the RS988; everything I read so far seems to indicate that I will only get up to Android 7.1 Nougat on this particular model.
As I have accepted an offer for $55 down from $64.99 in the above listing, and cannot decline to buy it, changing to another phone model is no longer an option for me in terms of keeping my cellular service working. Since I will be stuck with this RS988 for the next few years, can someone tell me what is the current situation about VoLTE support, whether for AT&T or T-Mobile, and which ROM I should stick on to gain this support? Losing my cellular service in 2022 is not going to end well for me if it does happen.

I feel ya bro, right now I'm on a "burner" (LG-Stylo, for big screen) due to this concern. Did you ever find a ROM for RS988 with VoLTE?

You came in a tad too late; by now, I ended up getting an entirely newer phone, a Motorola Moto G Power (2020) via Google Fi bill credit. Though its battery is not meant to be user-replaceable, at least it has support for VoLTE out of the box, which is what I care about more.
