can't root my OnePlus 7t pro ! - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

What is the problem ?
[Mod Edit] See closing statement here.

i see no pic.? but its easy. pick the boot img from the rom you use. transfer boot ilg to phone. install magisk on you phone. go to install en choose patch boot img. then you have a patched img in you downloadfolder.transfer now the patched img in the adb folder on pc.
now go in bootloader. do fastboot boot magisk_ patched img.
phone boots now, go to magisk do install direct en reboot. dont unplug thil its boot up. now you have root.

Flash TWRP in OxygenOS 3.0

Hi, I'm having a small problem here and need your help. A friend of mine flashed OOS 3.0.2 from TWRP and after that he forgot to fkash TWRP. Now the recovery is replaced with the stock recovery and he wants to root the phone. I tried flashing TWRP using adb but it does not work. Can anyone help with what is to be done. Thanks in advance.

1) download the Grarak's TWRP Recovery from https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/mirrors-for-official-oxygen-os-roms-and-ota-updates.387615/.
2) Place it on your phone
3) Download and Install Fashify app from Play store
4) Use Flashify to install your Recovery image. It should recover TWRP.
5) Of course, you need to be rooted.
Enjoy !
Root method same as with previous Version of oos? (lollipop)
yes, you can root with Modified SuperSU v2.74 TWRP flashable zip from the link provided.

He has no root and no recovery to flash Su, so tell me, how should he flash recovery with Flashify?
AFAIK the only way now is to flash recovery with fastboot and then with recovery Su.
OP download the recovery provided here.
Flash it via fastboot
fastboot devices
make sure your device appears
fastboot flash recovery "filename"
Reboot into recovery
flash modified super su

Hi, thanks for the instructions but i managed to flash the recovery using fastboot and adb. Only the hybrid recovery could be flashed, no other. I flashed the official TWRP but it did not boot, so i flashed hybrid twrp and it worked

Good to know. The official TWRP can't boot because of the new Bootloader of OOS 3.x.
You need one of this three
hybrid
the modified orange one
or garags

Let me make it easier and clear to you.
1. Install the drivers for OP2 (IMPORTANT)
2. You might have already downloaded adb and fastboot drivers. If not, download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
3. Unlock your bootloader in OP2, if you have not and enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
4. Once you have installed Minimal adb and fastboot drivers, place the hybrid TWRP in the folder of Minimal adb and fastboot. Then Shift+Right Click and open the command line, type the commands (hope you know if not google them)
Then from fastboot, directly boot into recovery as at times OOS 3 replaces the custom recovery with stock recovery. From fastboot, press Power+Volume down until the 1+ logo shows up. You will be booted into custom recovery.
Hope this helps. In case of anything else you can PM me

I thought he was at least rooted. Because this is what happened to me, when I flashed the signed flashable zip followed by the root zip, I forgot to update the TWRP.
My phone was working but I couldn't access to TWRP, but I was rooted. So, in this case, my reply with flashify works.
Thank you.
ok guys saw the threads as was also trying to flash TWRP .
The bottom line is with One plus 2 having Oxygen OS 3.0 it is difficult to fastboot TWRP previous versions but with latest version I was was able to install TWRP 3.0.2-2 using fastboot and adb. The link is dl.twrp.me/oneplus2/twrp-3.0.2-2-oneplus2.img (official site of TWRP) Once installed you can install latest SU.zip.
Cheers

Couldn't get root access error on miui 8 china developer beta 6.63

getting the following error 'Couldn't get root access-root rom isn't ready, please wait a moment', when trying to use the allow root access tab in security>permissions>allow root access . Is this normal for everyone? Is there another alternate way to enable root?
Yes, you need twrp recovery and BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524.zip
If you don't want to flash the custom recovery permanently you can use:
fastboot boot recovery.img
And the twrp recovery will appear. After installing of the zip file and reboot, the stock recovery will take its place.
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu-beta
This version is 2.74. I can't find 2.71, but it may do the job
tried it, after flashing the zip ,the phone got struck in the mi icon during boot. had to flash my backup.

With 2.71 there is no problem with this.
Obviously not every version works with every phone.
For example mi 4 is rootable only with 2.65
hmm everytime i try to enter twrp, even if i dont do anything and reboot it will boot struck at mi logo......maybe the dev rom beta just dont work well with twrp.....
Check to see if the bootloader is locked again.

Mi A3 Android 10 v11.0.15 unable to flash twrp and magisk

Hi I recently updated my Mi A3 to May Android 10 update i.e. v11.0.15 . Before this it was rooted with TWRP and Magisk as now both of these softwares are gone due to update. Now i want to flash TWRP first but unable to install it as I changed the active slot to A (current B) as per old method but nothing happened and phone stucked at Fastboot screen. This thing really concerns me as if I flash twrp.img at slot B, does it boot properly? Other way around to root Mi A3 using Magisk manager by patching boot.img of V11.0.15. Where can i get this and is it a reliable method without flashing custom recovery like TWRP? Can i flash any other good custom recovery?

Starting July im also facing the same issue. I restarted my phone but received a message that phone has been updated. Now TRWP and root is gone. I can't flast TWRP again on slot boot_a, also cannot flast twrp on boot_b. Stuck on Flashboot.
I was lucky to have the Stock boot img, i then flashed the Stock boot img on both slots a & b. But cannot flast TWRP anymore using ABD/fastboot
Solution: I flashed the new TWRP 3.4 for Android 10 from this link and now the problem is fixed!! https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/development/recovery-twrp-3-4-0-0-patched-boot-img-t4123287

I only used the files from that link. I did not read it anything. But Thanks, you pointed this out.
This means that the next time I wipe data in TWRP, then I should first enable "use rm -rf instead of formatting" in TWRP settings
I have never tried 'wipe data' on this phone. But I'll remember this the next time I 'wipe data'. Thanks, you just saved me.

That vbmeta ( if it's patched ) can be used for all A10 builds. Which means u can use it with not only A87, A89. but all others RUI 1 available builds ( A83, A75....etc)

You can only do that with Permissive ROM builds, for Enforcing, you will need to patch boot.img manually with Magisk, then flash it into boot partition using fastboot command or custom recovery.

how to unlock bootloader realme 7 pro with realme ui 3.0 and flash the custom recovery and cuatom rom

hi guys i'm trying to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery and custom rom i've never done it if anyone can help me and all the necessary files thanks a lot
Well first downgrade to rui 2.0 and then using deep testing apk unlock the bootlorder and then flash custom recovery (ofox better) . Install your custom rom of your choice then ur good to go
Pranav060 said:

Hi, maybe my experience will be useful to you. I have Realme 7 pro with android 12 rmx2170_11_f.24. I was doing root to my device. What I was doing? First I downloaded deeptest rui3.apk. When I get confirmation from manufacturer I start deep test in app. Then I use ADB to send command for unlock bootloader. I completed this task. Then I downloaded and flash TWRP 3.6.2_12 (because it's can work with android 12. I tried 3.5.2_10 it's not worked). Also you need vbmeta file from rmx2170_11_f.24 to don't make your phone brick. First flash vbmeta then recovery. After recovery you need to install Magisk from TWRP to keep TWRP working after reboot. But, when I tryed install Magisk I was getting TWRP error 1: cannot write /system. How I fix it? I reboot device and install Magisk 25.2 via Android. Then you need patch boot.img from rmx2170_11_f.24 via Magisk and you get Magisk patched boot.img. Then you need flash TWRP again and reboot to recovery. In TWRP you need chose flash img button and flash Magisk patched boot.img to boot partition. Doing this you keep TWRP working and then you can flash custom ROM's to your phone.
Mod edit: 4pda link removed.
here you can get f24 ROM ( you need vbmeta and boot.img from this ROM). ROM is ~2 Gb size. Maybe you need registration on website to download. Also get TWRP 3.6.2. I'll pin deep test rui3.apk and Magisk 25.2 for you here. You can rename Magisk.zip to Magisk.apk and install via Android. I gaved you roadmap how to make this. Hope you can do it. By the way, hello from Ukraine)
