A global fintech company that leads the industry in digital security and payments enablement technology says their recent integration with Huawei Mobile Service (HMS) has enabled them to continue meeting their customers’ strong demand for user-friendly, highly secure digital banking services and will help unlock new commercial opportunities.
Entersekt is a South African-based company that pioneered phone-as-a-token, out-of-band push authentication and pride themselves on innovating in digital security, payments, and user experience in the financial sector. It works with some of the biggest names in banking and payments, including some of the largest global payments networks like Swisscard, and core banking providers like Capitec Bank, Absa and Nedbank, and offer a range of solutions spanning user authentication, digital identity, contactless, and remote customer registration.
The company fast-tracked work on its mobile software development kit (SDK) and integrated HMS’s fully open Chip-Device-Cloud capabilities, including Huawei’s Push Kit. This facilitates push messaging, enabling banking apps using Entersekt’s technology to better engage Huawei device users and giving consumers a more targeted and tailored banking service.
Entersekt chief commercial officer Dewald Nolte said the company’s collaboration with Huawei also ensures consumers upgrading to new Huawei devices will continue to be protected from fraud, giving them added confidence to bank securely.
“As more and more people choose to manage their personal finances on mobile devices, consumers expect to be able transact digitally without fear or compromise, and this partnership helps give Huawei device users peace of mind when managing their finances with applications that employ our technology,” Nolte said.
The fintech provider holds an 80 percent share of the South African digital banking authentication market and counts some major overseas banks as customers, with millions of consumers worldwide relying on the company’s software when conducting their personal banking. With the updated SDK now ready for release to app developers across the globe, Nolte regards the integration with HMS as another opportunity for the Entersekt and institutional customers listing on AppGallery.
“Not only does our latest collaboration with Huawei mean we’re better placed to meet consumer needs, it also opens up new markets and ensures that the growing number of Huawei device users can benefit from this technology, both in South Africa and abroad,” said Nolte.
Nolte also said the collaboration was made easier thanks to Huawei’s commitment to providing developers with full-cycle operational support.
“Our engineers report that the integration effort ran very smoothly, with proactive support and collaboration from Huawei,” said Nolte.
Huawei provides, worldwide, and round-the-clock operation support throughout the entire development cycle to incentivise innovation, ensure ecosystem prosperity, and help developers succeed in business.
Entersekt’s latest update is just one example of the thousands of Huawei’s collaborations with the world’s top developers to create quality apps, with Huawei’s fully open Chip-Device-Cloud capabilities helping accelerate app experience innovation. To date, over 60,000 apps have integrated Huawei’s unique hardware and software capabilities to create an enhanced user experience.
All applications developed in collaboration with Huawei, along with thousands of other quality apps, are available on Huawei’s open and secure app distribution platform, AppGallery. As one of the top three app marketplaces globally, AppGallery is available in more than 170 countries and regions, and connects over 650 million users to Huawei’s smart and innovative ecosystem.
Not only does AppGallery ensure user privacy and security, it also provides unique functional experiences and better app discovery options. It aggregates quality popular applications from around the world, with thousands of apps across 18 categories including news, social media, entertainment, and more.

Very nice, thank you
The pace of change for mobile technology is fast-moving – each new device and product builds on its predecessor to enhance users’ lives. Likewise, Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), an ever-evolving technology since its introduction back in the early 2010s, refreshes the user experience with every update. Throughout its growth, Huawei users have enjoyed a consistently enhanced digital lifestyle faceted by security, convenience, and innovation.
When HMS was first unveiled, digital living was at its infancy. Smartphones had limited functionalities, shackled by poor app innovation. Data was stored on-device and users had no access to media content outside of their own personal libraries as streaming technology wasn’t established yet. Compared to the liberating platform of today, the digital lifestyle was lacklustre and limited.

Petal Search is a search engine which provides Huawei HMS device users with quick and easy access to millions of apps and a massive amount of information. It's available in more than 170 countries and regions, and supports over 50 languages. Petal Search is powered by all kinds of advanced technologies, including big data, AI, and NLP (Natural Language Processing).
With Petal Search, you can search for apps and information across a wide range of categories, including news, videos, shopping, travel, and images. It also provides you with information about local services, like nearby restaurants and other points of interest (POIs). Your search results are presented in information boxes, rather than large blocks of text, so you can find what you're looking for more easily. You can even monitor the stock market or follow a football match without any hassle. As if this wasn't enough, there are lots more cool features for you to try, such as interface customization, Dark mode, Favorites, and Child mode.
Petal Search's latest version 10.1.6 integrates even more local services for your everyday needs. For instance, if you're in Singapore, you can type "umbrella" into the search bar, and Petal Search will show you the nearest place where you can borrow an umbrella. Or, if you're from the Philippines and you search "lottery", Petal Search will show you the lottery results, and you can filter content by time and category to quickly find the numbers you're looking for.
Petal Search supports voice searches in 16 countries: India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Spain, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. You can find a huge range of content, such as weather forecasts, flights, hotels, and restaurants, by simply saying what you're looking for. This is particularly useful in situations when you can't type. You can even book a flight ticket directly in Petal Search.
Petal Search also has a visual search feature. To search by image, just open Petal Search, and tap the camera icon in the main search bar. You can then take a photo with your camera, or choose one from your gallery. When you search for a product – let's say a houseplant – Petal Search picks out details about the plant from the photo you upload, and processes the image data. You can then see how much it costs and where to buy it, and Petal Search will even return images of other plants which look similar.
What's more, Petal Search is capable of searching for and detecting multiple objects in an image at the same time. For instance, when you take a photo of a sofa with a blanket and cushion on it, Petal Search can identify all three items at the same time, and deliver comprehensive search results in a single list. This means you don't have to take tons of photos and search for them individually. Visual search technology makes shopping so much easier!
With Petal Search, you can literally find millions of apps, and a wealth of information, with ease. There's a search bar widget you can set up on your home screen, which saves you the hassle of opening dozens of apps and browser windows before you find what you're looking for. Better yet, Petal Search will tell you in the Downloads section whenever an update is available, so you'll always be running the latest version of your apps.
If you have any questions about how to use Petal Search, you can find answers on the Online support page. If you'd like to tell us anything about the app's content, features, and performance, you can submit your feedback and suggestions on the Feedback page. We can't wait to hear from you!
Petal Search is compliant with GDPR privacy security standards, and has been awarded the ePrivacyseal for keeping your data safe. It also conforms to local privacy and security requirements, so you can relax and enjoy a secure and reliable search experience.
We're always working on improving and expanding the features of the Petal Search app, and making it available in even more countries. In the coming months, we'll be testing and rolling out a range of new features which will enhance the accuracy of the search results and provide you with an even greater searching experience.

I didn't know it but it seems interesting.
Very useful.
How do users quickly find what they want when shopping online?
When users launch an e-commerce app and know what they want to buy, they’ll most likely perform a text, voice, or image search of the exact items they want to purchase. However, if the users do not know what they want to buy, they’ll most likely browse through products recommended by the app. Whether users are willing to make a purchase depends on their search experience in the first scenario and how well you know their preferences in the second scenario. This is why intelligent search and recommendation has become a critical feature in helping users quickly find what they want and thereby improving user retention and conversion.
Utilizing Petal Search’s fully open capabilities, HUAWEI Search Kit offers a one-stop solution for e-commerce apps to quickly and accurately recommend what users want, ensure an accurate and efficient mobile app search experience, and provide personalized search services through deep learning of user and product profiles. Search Kit also offers multi-language support for our ecosystem partners.
1. Quickly building an on-site search engine
Search by keyword
Search Kit equips your e-commerce app with capabilities such as popular search, auto suggestion, intelligent sorting, and search by category.

Currently, search by keyword is supported in 32 languages. It is available to e-commerce apps operating both inside and outside the Chinese mainland, and facilitates the deployment of Chinese e-commerce apps outside the Chinese mainland.
Search by image
When a user searches for a product using an image, Search Kit returns accurate and personalized results based on the image and the user's behavior profile.
Images that users use for product search are automatically reviewed and those that contain pornography, terrorism, politics, religion, illegal items, or vulgar content are automatically recognized and filtered out. Search Kit’s image filter function has currently been individually adapted for 30 countries and regions around the world.
Search by voice
Utilizing the automatic speech recognition (ASR) capability, Search Kit features voice input, search by voice, and an in-app voice assistant.
Currently, the following languages are supported: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese. Search by voice can also be tailored to local accents.
2. Intelligent on-site recommendation in multiple scenarios
By analyzing user search history and preferences, Search Kit recommends products to users and displays the search results intelligently. Recommended products are displayed on the home page, category page, product details page, and shopping cart page to help boost the order conversion rate.
3. Search solutions for e-commerce apps
Comprehensive hosting service: Offers easy data integration and operation, freeing you from having to invest resources into complicated data processing or deep learning modeling.
AI support: Provides powerful AI modeling support with Huawei's rich experience in intelligent product search and recommendation.
Data value optimization: Optimizes the value of structured data, non-structured data, and user event data.
Multi-scenario recommendation: Recommends products throughout the whole purchase process from browsing products on the home page, placing an order, to viewing the delivery status.
Customizable policies: Allows you to customize the search and recommendation policies by modifying relevant parameters.
Secure data and models: Ensures that the data and models generated for your app are isolated from those of other e-commerce apps and can be deleted anytime.
In summary, Search Kit provides e-commerce apps with end-to-end e-commerce solutions and cloud services, allowing you to quickly roll out your own e-commerce apps and create and configure resources in a matter of minutes.

MiniApp Model (Represented by Quick Apps) to Play a Major Role in New Era
Digitalization has inspired a whole host of new services that have revolutionized daily life. For example, hospitals have launched online registration and consultation platforms, airlines have opened up online booking and boarding; merchants offer promotions on e-commerce platforms; and mobile game companies have made their games easier than ever to access. MiniApp is a new web-based model for mobile app development that lowers the “friction to use” dynamic: no installation, tap-to-use, and instant access. It enables users to easily and almost instantly access content and services whenever and wherever they need them.
As pointed out by Mr. Xuemin Wang, Vice President of the Huawei European Research Institute, MiniApps are sure to play a critical role in the upcoming digital era. Quick apps, as an implementation of MiniApps, are remarkably easy for users to find and access, and address a broad range of mobile device usage scenarios, including those on Huawei devices. Users only need a single tap (or they can simply scan a QR code, or select a web link) to run quick apps. And, since quick apps are based on native rendering, just as native apps are, users can enjoy the same experience as with native apps, but without the hassle of the installation process.
Meanwhile, another advantage of quick apps is easy development, which can help developers quickly seize opportunities in this new digital era.
"In innovation projects, the quick deployment of developments is a decisive factor and very intensive in time. Quick App helps us to overcome this limitation."
Pablo Coca, Business Development & Operations Director at CTIC, W3C Spain Chapter Host.

Rapid Growth in China and Enormous Potential in Europe and Other Regions
The MiniApp model is quickly taking shape in China. Recent data shows that approximately 10% of Internet traffic in 2020 came from MiniApps. Currently, quick apps can be accessed on more than 1.2 billion online devices, and have a user retention rate over 70%. Compared with figures from last year, the number of active users of quick apps has increased by 37%, and the number of quick apps has increased by over 46%. Given their innovative user experience, quick apps have become a highly empowering and cost-effective choice in the 5G era.
In Europe, and many other regions, the MiniApp model has yet to be promoted on a major scale. Nonetheless, it offers enormous potential, allowing users in these regions to access games, go shopping, book airfare and hotels, take public transportation, and access public services, all without the trouble of installing an app. This saves both storage space and time, and enables a new “here and now” app access and usage dynamic, while enriching digital living immeasurably.
"The market opportunity for quick apps is enormous."
Brian Meidell, FRVR CEO
"Consumer experience has changed tremendously. Let's bring new standards to the market. Let's facilitate content production for quick apps."
Ilker Aydin, Famobi CEO
In the process of boosting the global quick app ecosystem, Huawei has also delivered supporting technologies to developers. Huawei Quick App IDE provides full-process capabilities for quick apps, covering quick app design, development, debugging, testing, building, packaging, and release, for multi-platform app development and operations on a wide range of devices, with global distribution through a single point of access. Huawei also provides developers with a wealth of HMS Core capabilities, including Account Kit, In-App Purchases (IAP), Location Kit, and Push Kit, which are crucial for bolstering product capabilities, optimizing user experience, boosting ad monetization, and expanding the service and distribution scope.
According to statistics collected for the first quarter of 2021, the global Monthly Active Users (MAU) for Huawei Quick Apps witnessed a year-on-year increase of 150%. The total number of global Huawei Quick Apps had reached a staggering year-on-year increase of 260%. Huawei will continue to work with the open source software community OW2 to promote the accessibility of quick apps and nurture crucial innovation.
About OW2 and the MiniApp Model
The open source community OW2 is an independent non-profit organization founded in 2007 and headquartered in France. It is dedicated to promoting industry-level open source software enablers for enterprise, and building a service ecosystem.
The MiniApp model is defined under the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and includes a set of standards jointly formulated by companies including Huawei, Alibaba, Baidu, Google, and Microsoft to adapt to devices and operating systems from multiple vendors.
