Hi everyone. I own a xt2041-1 moto G8 power. If I want to permanent root with system writeable folder, before that must I unlock BL?
In case unlock is necesary, what happen with my otas after unlocking and rooting? I'm not planing to install rom for now.
Thanks.

Hi everyone. I want to backup TA partition, but I have some questions.
My XZU is C6833 model, build number 14.3.A.0.681, KK 4.4.2. Absolutely stock ROM.
As shown here, my phone must be rooted to perform a TA backup.
But as you can see, getting root requires unlocked bootloader... but unlocking bootloader without TA backup will lead to DRM keys loss
There's a similar question for Z1.
Am I right? And what I have to do? Downgrade?
Thanks a lot!
i downgrade mine to 4.2.2 first then use the vroot apps to root my phone without unlock bootloader.

yes downgrade to root, NO don't use vroot - use Bin4ry's root tool (opt 0)
root doesn't needs unlock

SOLVED. It's need to downgrade to .532 build via Flashtool, get root, and go back to .681
HOWTO (russian lang).
Without unlocking bootloader.

The only way without downgrade is to unlock bootloader and flash a custom kernel.

Would that be better or should I downgrade, will it be worth?
It's better to go with the downgrade method rather than unlocking the bootloader and loosing warranty+drm keys. Once you root your device, the first thing you have to do is to backup your TA partition.
Greetings, this is my first question here and I would like to seek some help.
I want to root my Moto E2 Xt1506.I used Kingo root to root my earlier 2 phones-both were Samsung. However, this isn't working on Mototrola,it throws root failed.
On searching Internet I found that every guide suggests unlocking bootloader first and then rooting. However,I do not wish to do so.I just want to root and get access to the data folder.
If it is possible, please guide me up and if unlocking bootloader is neccessary,I would like to get the link of the simplest guide available on Internet.
Thank you for any assistance.

Wondering if there has been any updates to this. I've got a Moto E LTE that's AT&T branded (GoPhone). The bootloader cannot be unlocked on this phone. But I was wondering if there was a way to get root on the device without unlocking the bootloader.

Nope.
it is possible now??
If you have an unlocked bootloader, yes.
Otherwise you'll have to wait till someone comes up with a root method which could take a lot of time or no time at all.
On the same boat. I haven't unlocked the bootloader and I intend to keep avoiding it, so I'm waiting for someone to come up with rootkit or root method before flashing marshmallow.
how can I to unlock the bootloader?
