Hello,It's way faster to find,it locks your refresh rate and 96hz is also available.
But if we're talking about the upcoming app,any refresh rate is available with any resolution.

Does that mean that the adaptive refresh rate will be similar to the one on the Note 20 Ultra? The app automatically adapt the refreshrate depending on what is needed (e.g. during scolling --> 120Hz, idle -->48Hz?) I thought this is a hardware limitation of the S20?

Hello, this is a leaked feature and the app doesn't control how it works,it just enables or disables it.Yes,that's what it should do but I rather think it changes if the opened app is using a certain refresh rate value or not.
Third feature is here! Youtube Link
Switching Power Saver on or off instantly.Resolution and refresh rate remains the same.
I wonder how that adaptive refresh rate actually works?

What I think it is: it switches refresh rate depending on the app. E.g. if the game supports only 60,refresh rate will be 60.
Anyway,Samsung is a big liar, display modes doesn't even show 48hz to exist but still,48hz can be set (this can be verified using a new app I'm working on).Everything is software-locked not hardware, even 120hz WQHD can be achieved,I'm working on a way to do this easily so everyone can do it.Probably N20's feature is available too.
Reworked.
Added 48hz on HD/FHD.
Reduced launching time.

Info:
This app targets older android sdk in order to control refresh rates without ADB setup or root. Just tap OK the dialog that says "This app was built for an older version of Android...." when opened for the first time. If OK button is not visible, just tap the blank space on the lowest portion of the dialog. If google play protect prompts during install that the app is built for older version of android and doesn't include the latest privacy protections, you can ignore it and proceed to the installation. WIll be interesting to see if this makes much of a difference. With the S21 touted as having dynamic refresh rate adjustment, it shouldn't be needed, in theory.

You got the wrong theory.
It's not the first to have the adaptive refresh rate, note 20 ultra is. Been using this on note 20 ultra .
Though refresh rate is adaptive, phone is using the highest refresh rate (i.e. 120hz) atleast 80% of the time.
Setting the max to 96hz definitely consumes less battery than 120hz.
And this is not only what you can do with this app.
One question: us the 60hz also adaptive? Goes down to 10hz when not in use?

Sorry your question is not clear to me.
But if you are asking for smartphones with standard refresh rate (i.e. 60hz), I think they are all on a single 60hz refresh rate (i.e. fixed). I have not known any which can go lower than 60hz, moreso on the capability to go as low as 10hz. In fact, the S21 Ultra is the only smartphone capable to do so as of the moment.

Sorry I don't know yet.
But if we based it on the existing implementation of Samsung in Note 20 Ultra's "standard mode", it is not lowering down to 48hz (the lowest refresh rate it is capable) when the screen is idle or if it has static content or even when the screen is turned-off or in AOD.
If fact this is true even in Adaptive Mode - Samsung actually (and strangely) sets it to the highest refresh rate (120hz) when in AOD or when screen is off. Watch closely this video. This is the reason why this app includes a "Screen off refresh rate mod" to override this behavior.
Not sure though if this will be the same for S21 Ultra.

I'm running into the following error while trying to set up the ADB on phone using my laptop:
adb: device unauthorized.
This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.
I didn't see any popup requesting permission on my phone. Any advice?

When its set to 60hz, it just stays there. Regardless of Adaptive or standard. When you re-apply adaptive mode, the app no longer allows 48hz as lowest refresh rate, only 60 as minimum when you set 96hz or 120hz as max refresh. I have not seen 48 outside of screen-off which is reporting at 48 when toggled instead of the 60hz s21u selects as its screen-off Hz.
You are not missing too much, as I hear the os release is still pre-release technically and full release OTAs are around corner. There are many display bugs still.
About this app:
Refresh Rate Control: Easily control the max refresh rate (Hz) of android devices with multiple refresh rates (e.g. note20 ultra, s20/S20+/S20Ultra, z fold 2, s21/s21+/s21Ultra, tab S7/S7+, z fold 3, z flip 3). This app can limit max refresh rate to 96hz (or any available refresh rate) on supported smartphones - you can save power with negligible difference on smoothness. Use either the in-app toggle or quick settings tile - ADB setup or Root NOT needed.
Force High: Option to use High(Fixed) motion smoothness mode on Samsung devices with native Adaptive motion smoothness***
Current Samsung smartphones natively supporting adaptive refresh rates:
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
Galaxy Z Fold 2
Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra
Galaxy Z Flip 3
Galaxy Z Fold 3
Refresh Rate Monitor: Show real-time screen refresh rate as statusbar icon and/or as overlay. Overlay size and location is adjustable. Use either the in-app toggle or quick settings tile
Quick Resolution Switcher: Easily switch to any supported resolutions using the included quick setting tile***
Quick High/Adaptive on Power Saving Mode: Easily switch to high or adaptive motion smoothness mode (from Standard) even on power saving mode on supported Samsung smartphones.***
Note: Not working on TabS7 updated to OneUI4.*
Force to Lowest Hz: Force lowest refresh rate on screen-off/AOD. This overrides Samsung's strange stock behavior which sets the refresh rate to the highest on screen off (update: it is now at 60hz since oneui3.0) - to improve standby power consumption a bit - ADB setup or Root NOT needed.
Auto apply power saving mode during screen-off (after ~ 10 secs)***
Tasker plugin support: Automate GMH settings with Tasker app. Supported actions/variables: max refresh rate, min refresh rate, keep smooth motion on PSM, motion smoothness mode, quick-doze mod, change dispaly resolution, auto sensors off. More info in FAQs below
Premium Features:
Keep High/Adaptive motion smoothness when power saving mode is enabled whether manually or by the system/adaptive power saving***
Note: Not working on TabS7 updated to OneUI4.*
Adaptive refresh rate mod for devices supporting multiple refresh rates but do not have the stock Adaptive motion smoothness (e.g. S20 series, S20FE, TabS7/S7+) with the ability to set the brightness threshold for its activation***
Quick-doze mod: Quickly enter doze mode during screen-off that can not be interrupted by motion ***
Set minimum refresh rate for adaptive mode to 60hz or lower (if supported)***
Resolution switcher filter: Filter what screen resolutions to include for the resolution switcher QS tile.
Auto SENSORS OFF (experimental non-root workaround):
Device sensors will automatically turn off while screen is off until the device is unlocked. This helps minimize battery-draining motion-triggered wakelocks while device is not being used.
Statusbar net speed indicator

hello, I have a couple of questions/issues.
1. who's to decide which available refresh rates are there? I find it pretty dumb that this tablet has 60 and 120hz and no in-betweens. Can this be changed in the future? i guess I'll stick with 60hz for the time being. 120 is just too much battery drain and it gets hotter too on the bottom of the screen.
2. I seem to have an issue that when I leave the tablet to stable 60hz (set in Samsung's settings) when I unlock it after a while, I find it on 120hz. Now I've tried to disable the forced minimum refresh from gmh and see if it persists. BTW, is this needed on this tablet? is Samsung's implementation this bad?
3. is there a way to change the app's language? the automatic translation to Italian is TERRIBLE.
thanks!
Just for ****s and giggles, I thought I would make a macro in macrodroid to do something like this.
Here is what I came up with that suits my flow

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
this is the basic macro
There is a setting to apply adaptive refresh rate in this but whether or not it is actually working is hard to determine so I didn't bother putting it in the macro.
Here's how to do it though incase someone wants to take the time to test it.
This is on the tab s7 plus, not the tab s7.
This is why I think this could be significant

One questions though: Do I need to put the app into any battery optimization white list in order to keep it working?

How to reproduce it:
1. Make sure the app is working, eg. It can automaticlly set screen refresh rate to 60HZ after 2 second.
2. Turn screen off.
3. Turn screen on.
4. Look at the fps indicator. Now it won't automaticlly set to 60HZ anymore.
5. As long as I switch out and back, it will work again.

The phone never seems to go below 120 for me. Unless I open a game. Then it's a stuttering messy 60. It's better to open the game after setting the phone to 60 first.
(In using Show frame rate from developer settings)
Also Chrome browser stutters even tho it shows 120.
So, I've tested this phone for a while now and saw that something was up with the refresh rate of the display. I use Nova Launcher and I could tell that it wasn't as smooth as their own launcher, or the system settings for example. In developer options I turned on the "show refresh rate" toggle and the values were weird, to say the least. When it is operating at 120Hz and everything is smooth, it shows the number 10, but when I go to Nova Launcher, or Reddit Sync for example it shows 60. All of this only happens on the Auto mode, but that is the point of the LTPO Display, so it can work its magic. So as it seems the software doesn't show correctly when its running in 120Hz mode. Also, I would very much like to have Apps that I deem worthy run in 120Hz mode too, not just the ones it chooses by itself.
Strange. My phone is working like it should. Shows 10 fps when the screen is not moving. Shows 120fps as I start moving. I also tested YouTube and videos show the correct fps. 30 fps and 60 fps depending on the video.

Mines exactly the same
well Imma guess that it's something related to me importing my old backup, cause that messed up the AOD too (doesn't matter what I do, it won't turn on)

Is there any app that can adjust this per app? I also use some apps that only run at 60hz

So, I've tested this phone for a while now and saw that something was up with the refresh rate of the display. In principle, the level of brightness that you have on influences, manual brightness, I think that from 80-85% brightness it goes from 5 to 1 in refresh rate. I put a capture.
Definitely to do with brightness
At lowest brightness on auto refresh rate, it seems to never drop below 120hz except in certain apps like maps where it'll go to 60hz.
But if I put brightness at about 30%, it can drop to 10hz.
So I wonder what's more battery efficient 0% brightness at 120hz or 30% brightness at 10hz
When in a dark environment, and forced into the 120Hz mode, the LTPO panel’s power consumption isn’t all that different from an LTPS panel ~180mW power penalty that is present at all times, even on a black static screen, because of 120 Hz. That penalty comes from the measured power, with 640 mW and 465 mW in the respective 120 and 60Hz modes. Under a brighter ambient conditions, the panel showcases its technology advantages, and power consumption drops drastically. In the 120Hz mode but with the minimum refresh rate now in the regular '48 Hz' setting, the power figure drops from 640mW to 428mW, which is a massive 220mW drop.

The phone operating under dark conditions seems to disable the 'seamless' variable refresh rate display, that allows the phone to go into lower frequency modes, but not in all circumstances

When it comes to the difference in the battery runtimes between running the phone in a dark or a bright environment, there are somewhat small difference. In the 60Hz maximum refresh mode, VRR/LFD gains the phone an additional 4% of battery life. In the 120Hz mode, we see a larger 8.5% jump in runtime.

I am having this issue also. I get only 60Hz with Nova but using default launcher I get 120Hz and it is adaptive.
So far I setting entire device at 120Hz but would prefer if there was option to enable adaptive working with Nova

The problem is not that the GT2 PRO does not have an option to enable adaptive refresh rate with Nova, the problem is that Nova is not fully optimized with Android 12.

It seems to be incorrect. In nova Discord, Administrator said Nova work well with LTPO 2.0 screen. And as far as I can see, all launcher I tested don't work with LTPO on realme GT 2 pro except default launcher...
Use set edit and put peak_refresh rate to 1 Also i added user_refresh rate to 1 and min_refresh rate to 1. Now is working 120 & variable rate in all app.

How? Can you explain a bit more about that?
Look here, marked with red in set edit app. Ignore my mistake on cameră, i was in hurry

It seem ok after reboot ! I don't know how you find this but good work. Thank you.
Edit : after few minutes nova go back to 60htz. System setting "peaking_refresh_rate" automatically go back to 60
Set your screen to 120 (High) in settings, and never change )
Will this just force 120hz or working LTPO for 3rd party apps?
Working ltpo, If You want only 120 enter same settings by adb.
Ok but what's exactly the point of your settings?
If I set 120hz always in settings, LTPO will also work and go down to 60-30-10hz if not touching the display
Lol, this is for apps with no 120hz support like camera, some browsers, other launchers, even some games
What is the expected behaviour at "120hz" mode in Zenfone 9? Is it supposed to be 120hz all the time, or fall to 60hz when screen is idle?
In my case it's 120hz all the time in "120hz" mode (except in very few apps such as maps and camera where its always 60hz) but I've seen some users report their one will eventually drop to 60hz when screen is not touched for a second or two.
You can enable "show refresh rate" in developer options and check for yourself

same here, but everywhere else does your one fall to 60hz when screen isn't touched? or does it remain 120hz?

yes it also does that. Try the high performance mode, maybe 120hz is constant there

I'm using dynamic and yet it's 120hz constant.
I'm getting a similar thing, just after the most recent OTA update I think.
I keep it on Dynamic mode with my refresh rate set to 120Hz in the display settings. Sometimes it drops down to 60Hz (or even lower? not tried dev tools yet for checking the actual refresh rate) and looks really choppy. If I switch between High performance and Dynamic sometimes it seems to fix itself.

What I found is that when brightness is high (70s or more) it will drop to 60hz when screen not touched. But below it it's always 120hz. I'm using dynamic mode. I found it to behave same in high performance mode too. Can you please confirm?

I switched on the refresh rate in developer mode and I can confirm I'm getting the same thing as you're saying here. It goes to 60Hz after being on high brightness and not being touched for a while (doesn't seem consistent as to how long it takes though). I've had it happen and both dynamic and high-performance modes as you say.
