I'm new here and I need help.
Please if anyone can guide me on how to downgrade my phone from Kitkat 4.4.2 to Jellybean.
My nephew upgraded it for me and few days after I noticed my mobile data was not working anymore. Second I noticed was Bluetooth, it wasn't working either. I ignored it because I coud still use wifi, but a week ago it also gave up. My phone also restarts on its own.
I asked some tech and I was told it was because of the upgrade that is why I want to downgrade. Anyone who can assist me please? Or any solution that you know. I am not sure myself if the problem was caused by the upgrade. I tried checking videos on youtube on how to downgrade but I;m scared to brick my phone. I am not sure about the correct files to download and that sort of stuff.
PLEASE help.
I just want my phone working.
I tried to root my phone
by following a video on
YouTube and I think it's
already rooted.

Well, nope I don't think now you can downgrade your device from KitKat to JellyBean not possible at all because the boot loader may have been upgraded and if you even try downgrading the device by rooting your device it may results in bricking up. I would say rather than moving forward with the downgrading better would be to stay with the KitKat and keep your fingers crossed for the next update to fix most of your problems.

Depends on which variant of the S4 that you have. Some versions have ways to do a modded downgrade (not official via Odin like the good ole days...), but in general it's more trouble and risk than it is worth.
Thank you for your time and suggestions. I'd just want to add that my phone overheats even when it's off. And it also doesn't turn on anymore unless I connect the charger. I think its dying.

Did he update the phone officially or custom rom? By OTA or from the computer? I would reset the device and reinstall the latest firmware via Odin on the PC. If it was done via OTA, that can cause some odd issues, especially if the download was not 100% or reset during the process. It's always a good idea to reset when updating major versions, despite what the manufacturers tell you. I see it all the time at my shop and during my many many hours here on XDA researching and helping others.

Since you don't know exactly what or how it was done, it might be a good idea to post a screenshot of the About Phone section for us so we can see which update, if it's official, and all that.

What region are you using the phone in? It looks like the firmware is from Romania. Not that it couldn't work other places, but sometimes it works best to use a firmware and modem meant for the area you are using the phone in... Stranger things have happened.

I am in the Philippines and I don't know what firmware my nephew used.
I found video on youtube and did the same to my phone but nothing happened. I flashed my modem, it says on youtube, modem wifi fix, did it twice but didn't work. I also tried custom kernel but was getting error.
I don't know what to do anymore. It's just really very sad for a very expensive smartphone to not work. Bluetooth, mobile data and wifi are all not working. It doesn't turn on as well if you remove the battery unless you connect a charger.

I am in the Phillipines. I don't really know what firmware he used.
I flashed my modem twice tonight, found a video on youtbe about modem wifi fix and it didn't work too. Custom kernel didn't work as well as I was getting an error.
It's getting depressing, I don't know what to do anymore. It's just that, it's an expensive smartphone without mobile data, bluetooth and wifi. It doesn't turn on as well if you remove the battery unless you connect a charger.

What happens when you try to toggle data? Does it turn on and right back off or does the switch to move to on not slide over or is greyed out?
I might try using Odin to install the Phillipines firmware, which you can find here:

It won't make it worse anyway...
Okay first thing first...
This thread is now under new & better management as it is now only about the device itself, but also rooting, custom recoveries, & even xposed specifically for the LG K7!
if you have any questions about any of the fun topics here please feel free to PM/post your questions here.

1. I rooted my lg k7 (metropcs)
2. I created an app to install the xposed framework WITHOUT A RECOVERY
3. It work! but after further testing my app....it started to reboot my phone whenever I tried to run the installer script...since xposed framework was already installed from the first initial attempt....it way suppose to say it way already installed...but this only happen on this device but NOT my shield TV(i do NOT know why & do NOT have any logs)
4. after my latest testing of getting everything to work...I tried the latest concept I came up with a better way to install xposed framework succesfully...
5. it failed completely since now I soft brick my device...so in order to fix my device now.... is for anyone who has this device & has root could give me the following:
1. boot.img
2.userdata.img
3. recovery.img
4. system.img
5. other img file here
I really need this phone to work again because app development & (hacking) is a hobby of mine & the lg k7 is my only phone that has root & my only MAIN phone too since my kyocera hydro wave sucks & its sorta hardware broken....
also I did explained a few thing about the app im in the middle making...BUT, Once I fix this bug(s)....I will try to release it on google play or somewhere on here
you won't believe how easy it was...to do it without a recovery!

So as soon as i do a rom dumo and make a library of stock images to post im going to start a busyboc and see what i can do. i have 2 and endless possibilities of complete restore if nothing happes to the chassis.
:cyclops:
And from what i see is a boom in one click rooters messing up binary and tripping knox and bootloops are the ffirst occurence of little knowledge ..... bootloops keep the kiddies busy becoming Adults. I had bootloops when i was a kid too.but the FRP binary pick up and kknox kickin half of us {me included} on the knobel kernel...... im sick of bootloops tooo

I used the latest kingroot from the official site to root - then used Supersu Me from the Playstore to replace kingroot with Chainfire's Supersu. Worked like a charm, not a single issue.

I havent tried to install supersu in my terminal app (yet) I just finished on my app & just started testing it on my own....I will try to add a supersu option for anyone who has root, but not from supersu
It seems most can't understand the situstion im in....
I actually rooted my device, but the complications came after when i made an app to install the xposed framework...it worked the first time, but when i tried to install it again to see what will happen...the app crashed & rebooted my phone...after the third attempt I was left with a brick....
So my issue here is that I DID NOT have trouble on gaining root....HOWEVER I figured out why my app broke my phone & I fixed my issue(s) & added many safety protocols to be initated if the the same case ever happen again

Is there a stone cold reliable method to root and flash TWRP for the k7 with minimal risk?
LG K7 MS330 MetroPCS rooted recovery image in TWRP or CWM would be the answer
Are you asking us if we have the clean fresh ms330 rooted recovery image along with the images written route of system root for integral forensic troubleshooting for later non recovery solvable issues? The image im trying to figure out how to make on this freshly rooted k7 sitting in front of me with barely a sign on ... on to it. Not as well as I liked.... K7 a little akward
I had as just a hard time if not equal to the ms770 stylo ... Im beginning to not like LG grrrr. It's almost like the bootloader is locking .... As this thread started it was all about the su binary not taking it then maybe rooted after restore. But in both devices I had to uninstall root. Just had root until reboot and a mess after that. Is there another issue with the bootloader on lg? I can say that I think there is a diference in su ap and installed binary so pay attention.
I did not do well in my imaging ability... I should have reached to ask assistance but need to start and finish these two. I went ahead and customed them with out root apps ... The buyers didnt carecause they never seen root apps anyway. Im getting another this week ... More time hopefully
I've seen quite a few people swear off LG. In my opinion their phones aren't bad but I guess as far as 3rd party developement, they make it difficult.

my personal opinion is playing is that using apps without recovery is stupid. i am also guilty of being stupid/impatient and f'n up my phone. but lets not encourage stupidity bro. educate the people. i installed xposed through adb before recovery was available too but, and for those of us that are just tired of typing the commands, copy, paste, rename directory and all its awesome. but to mass distribute it to the masses of newbs????? how many willl soft brick their phone cause thet wanted their wifi signal bars to look like a deathstar. (yes, mine do) i've had more than a few items in the repository cause mine to bootloop. and this is complicated and frustrating to fix as i'm sure you saw that recovery only has factory reset option. they don't give you superuser permissions out of the box for a reason. theyd loss their ass doing warranty repairs and file bankruptcy. and then no more android. sorry bro better shuck out that 600 bucks for that new iphone that seriously looks exactly like that other iphone when you turn it on. oh, and my sisters tablet after it got the latest update. i've been up too long and i'm babling all this to say i'm searching site for system.img because i dropped and broke my first k7. and when i got the new one and didn't unlock bootloader 2nd time. All you have to do is flash the pit file from the tmobile variant. Dump it or find it elsewhere Have yet to see if the tmobile version requires the engineering kernel, testing the verizon right now. For anyone wondering why I'm linking this / posting, it's because s7 development is way too fragmented and I wanted at&t users to be included This is a modified, non root rom. Samsung pay and other apps like pokemon go and snapchat are all working! Thanks a lot @jkruse and @CVertigo1
This was all jrkruse. I did literally nothing except changed a couple things to make it boot on the flat S7.

You flashed the zip in my thread? You are running on the factory kernel, right?
Verizon worked but after a reboot on the stock kernel, it requires the eng kernel to boot. It turned on once though. The t mobile needed eng kernel outright.
Another user figured out the problem. You need to uncheck inject root in FlashFire before flashing. I ran into this problem once and forgot to mention it in the OP. Everything should boot normally on Verizon without having to Odin the eng kernel. I'd assume TMobile will also boot normally, but I can't confirm because I don't use TMobile, so I didn't verify it.
I have updated the instructions to mention unchecking inject root.
I'd like to add that you are welcome to put my instructions and zip in your OP. That way everything is all in one place without having to change forums.
Any way to gain root on this? Because I ain't gonna install it unless I can keep root

Yes, you can get root with the engineering kernel. But the whole point of this ROM is to be able to have a debloated &/| playstore rom, while still being able to use things like samsung pay, Pokemon Go, snapchat, etc.

Honestly I can log in to Snapchat before I root, and I don't play Pokemon go also I just wanted a rom that is at least somewhat compatible with my phone model
followed steps to a t. Using an SM-G930A ATT S7 and on final reboot have the pad lock and then after screen goes black for a few seconds reboots?? what did i do wrong. again i made sure to follow all instructions to a T. had to flash the t-mobile nougat before starting as i received a ext4 error on att rom.
Can anyone help me out?? in order to get my ATT S7 to boot i had to use the Eng. kernel as it wouldn't boot without it. see my previous post

Did you do this step?
6) Now click flash firmware and chose AP_G930TUVU4BQB1_CL10376601_QB12449107_REV02_user_ low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5 SELECT ALL OF THE PARTIONS!!!
As i Said in my earlier post I followed all steps to a t. Had to use the eng kernal to be able to boot after the last step. Does it have to do with the fact that i started from the t mobile firmware?? Only did that because the ATT firmware gave me an ext4 error during first odin step. someone has to be able to help

I used HuRUpdater to flash firmware to my Honor 10 and after following the instructions and performing a full wipe data factory reset and rebooted, it wouldn't turn on at all. I tried everything to get into ERecovery or fastboot but nothing. I read that there's is no solution for unbricking 2018 Honor/Huawei devices. Even Funky Huawei doesn't work or Multi Tool.

Yesterday one user was able to succeed updating through [HuRUpdater] and one of my friend was also able to update to one build but it showed different device specs and the same build build you tried hard bricked his device. If my guess is right it is the build issue and not [HuRUpdater] issue.May be I am wrong ?

Btw how does the brick Voids warranty ?
Its just a software issue and is covered in warranty.
Which country do you stay ?

I'm in the UK. I'm not exactly sure how bricking voids warranty but my guess would be because the end user is responsible for flashing various software to the device. I do remember seeing on the EMUI website that bootloader unlocking on devices after mid 2018 won't be eligible for bootloader unlocking due to so many hardware bricking cases.
I'm happy with my new OnePlus 6 though. I'll probably have to let go of the hope of recovering the Honor 10 even though I'm making a loss as I was gonna sell it.

I have same problem , I connected my device to adb , and I tried to reboot it , with adb reboot bootloader , fastboot reboot etc. and it said starting dameon , but stil nothing. pease help
Hello Guys,
I had exactly the same problem.
I upgraded to EMUI 9 and everything worked fine but I wanted to go back to EMUI 8.1 so I went to TWRP with the intention of doing a factory restoration and downgrade.
I made a Wipe / data, Wipe dalvic / format all data. After this I waited a lot and it didn´t respond.
I had to force the restart and since then the phone no longer works. Same for me, the phone has no recovery and no OS and no erecovery.
I have contacted the people from FunckyHuawei. I have paid 1 credit in order to unbrick the phone but it did not work. They said that; "It would need to be able to reach rescue recovery mode. If it can not reach that, it may be bricked beyond repair. "
Then I contacted another technician, I connected to my computer remotely and he tried to flash all necessary files via fastboot but some of them failed to flash.
He said it looks like there is no TWRP recovery COMPATIBLE for EMUI9 yet.
Now what to do guys? I will really apreciate any help. The phone has only 3 weeks and I feel so noob now.
Kind Regards,
Gerardo

Hello Max
I have flashed the update.zip using beta-downy_0.4 program
you have to transfer the 3 zip files update.zip, update_all_hw, update_data_public tp the "Zip-Here" Folder.
Then run the "Flash.bat" file and follow the instruction.
The update.zip will install the twrp recovery. Then I flashed the Kernel.img and system.img
after restar the phone was like new with EMUI9. However there are things that are not really well, such like the info in "about phone" is not showing the "compilation number" nor model number, also other options and functionalities has dissapeared but for the rest the phone works fine. At least you can recover the phone. I will do some more research today to fix those issues. I might have to reflash the whole system again.

Hello Max, any news?
In this case i would roll back on emui 8 to make sure that everything works and then go emui 9 by using hisuite 5.0.0.300 and change ip4 dns. Tht should work. I remember on huawei p9 it has to be with an earlier version to be able to pass some main things to the next firmware so you will jot have broken menus. That was upgrading ofc emui 6 to emui 7. I ssume though its something similar

Yes , that's what I did. I rolled back to 8.0 by changing the DNS as well. Then I have upgraded to 8.1 and I will wait for EMUI9 OTA.

Hello, I have a similar problem I've been using emui 9 for a month but I decided to roll back because there was some app draining the battery when I went to recovery and wiped the data but that didn't work for some reason. now I'm unable to use my phone the only thing i can use is the fastboot

Hey guys,
I have bought a Samsung S9+ via Amazon.
Because I am rooting my Samsungs since forever, I intended to do so again immediately. Used Magisk and so on.
Somehow this phone got stuck at the logo (bootloop?) and I couldnt use it anymore. Felt like the whole system was broken cuz nothing was possible.
So I downloaded a legit new firmware (I think it was the right one for my model) and used Odin to upload it on my phone. Then I rooted the phone again without any issues.
Perfect root right now.
However, independent from any used apps the phone reboots everyday by itself, lockscreen or while using. (I assume its not an app issue then..?)
I'd highly appreciate any help.
PS. I forgot where I got the firmware from, but it was definitely a legit website.
Here are some phone stats.
Modelnumber:SM-G965F/DS
ONE UI-Version 1.0
Android Version 9
Kernel Version 4.9.59-15540155
Please let me know if you need more information.
THank you ahead

I have heard that there is a "protective system" against root on the new galaxy phones, did you try flashing this too?
https://download.highonandroid.com/...65_PIE_Root_for_OEM_issue_devices_V5.zip.html
Hope this will help!
Thanks for the reply.
I think I have done that too.
Followed a certain guide on xda actually, which included 3 or 4 files for rooting.
Is it afterwards via magisk possible?
Whats the suggestion anyone can give me, except maybe as last option reflashing everything.
Also, where would I be able to find a proper firmware if that is the issue.
Thanks a lot!

Try cleaning cache partition, if it doesn't work, try booting into safe mode, and see if the problem persists, if not, it must be a app, disable apps one by one and see which one is causing the problem
Magisk can only flash modules specially designed for it.

I have actually factory reset my phone completely and while adjusting the first settings (right after the wipe, with no apps yet) it did it again..Reboot.
However, I didnt mention, the reboot might happen, but after the phone is back to its previous state, apps are still opened. Technically its not a real reboot then.
Happens once a day, no fixed time.
Is it a matter of a wrong root? Followed this one
