Vodafone Smart Mini 7 VFD 300 custom roms wanted - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,so i have a rooted Vodafone VFD 300 and i would like to know if there are any custom roms out there for this device? It has Android 6.0 installed and i would really like to update it to a newer Android version. Android 7,8,9 or maybe even 10 if there is anything out there. Please if there are custom roms for it,could you point me in their direction.

List of available Custom ROMs here.
Because you can see that your device isn't listed there I'm afraid no Custom ROM for it exists.

Thanks, that is a pity though. I was hoping that seeing as it is a Mediatek device,it may share its platform etc with another device from another manufacturer and there may be a way to port a rom for it.

[Q] Device dependency of Pure Android ROMs

I was going through the xdadevelopers forums when I saw that the process of installing ROMs seems of be device dependent. Can someone please explain me why it is so?
More specifically, shouldn't the process of installing a pure Android ROM (AOSP) be the same on every device since all of them are based on the ARM architecture.
I haven't installed an android ROM before, but I am trying to understand why the process isn't similar to installing a Linux based OS on my computer.
I recently bought an Android tablet (HCL ME X1) to experiment with ROMs but later realized that there aren't ROMs for this device. Can someone let me if I can use the ROMs of any other device for this?
Because all different models have different hardware so the rom has to be specific to that device.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the reply stylez.
So I guess if I want to develop a custom ROM (say an AOSP ROM) I will need the device drivers which my vendor wrote.
Is there any way of identifying the vendor specific drivers of my device? I am using an HCL ME X1.

Android 5 ROM for Huawei MediaPad T1 10

Hi,
I would like to test Android 5/Lollipop on my Huawei MediaPad T1 10 but haven't found so much info on ROMs to this tablet.
Any experiences on well working Lollipop ROMs?
Anyone?
I have searched too but without luck. I would be very greatful if there was a solution to install any CM based custom rom or stock ASOP.
I second this!
Anyone, who tried it or likes to do it and post his results?
I am also.. Anyone know how to root this tablet?

If you have the same tablet as me, Mediapad T1 10 (T1-A21W), you can easily root it with King Root.
I am also looking for information about this tablet (recovery, roms, etc) and don´t find anything. Anyone has found some development of this tablet?
I am also searching for an Lolipop Rom for this Tablet. Is it possible to install that at this Tablet?
I have been searching far and wide but it seems there is no one interested in developing anything for this pad, very much including Huawei itself. This will be my last Huawei device ever.

Where did you get the TWRP??? I was trying to compile one and then try to do development for this device. It would be very useful if you send me a link for the TWRP recovery. Then i could try to develop for this tablet.

I've been trying to bring development to this tablet quite months ago but i keep struggling with the kernel source which gives me a lot of errors when trying to compile. That is the main problem that is not letting me to build for example a LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.1 ROM).
For example i think i have a solid device tree and vendor blobs to work with our tablet but the only problem is the kernel source.
About the recovery, I've ported a couple ones that boot and work. One of them is a TWRP 2.X recovery that can flash, make backups, restore and all that stuffs but the touchscreen responses weird when trying to interact with it.
The other recovery is a Phil Touch recovery, which is based on the deprecated CWM recovery. This one works without any problem but is deprecated and it won't probably be capable to flash 5.X and newer android versions, so i don't have much interest on it.
Also i tried to compile a TWRP recovery from source but again the problem is the kernel source.
Anyone who owns this tablet or want to help with this project that has a minimal experience with android development would be great if can cooperate with me to fix the issues and finally have a solid base to bring development for our device, because this device has a great potential for development and it would be sad to not be capable enjoy it.
For anyone interested:
I opened a thread for the Philz Touch custom recovery for our tablet that i ported some time ago: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-mediapad/development/recovery-unofficial-philz-touch-6-59-0-t3584383
Edit: Opened another thread for general things about our device (ROMs, discussion, ...): https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu.../everything-huawei-mediapad-t1-10-t1-t3608754

Official Android ROMs/Images Compatibility for Any Devices

There's official ROMs/Images for Android (namely for Nexus) at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images..
Can I install one of those ROMs above to my Redmi 3 (for example)..?
I currently running on Xiaomi.eu Unofficial ROM v6.6.30.. In Android version section, there's written "5.1.1 LMY47V", what is that mean..? I also found some Nexus devices in link above with same version and code, is that mean I can use those ROMs to my device..?
If it's possible to use those official Android ROM to any devices rather than Nexus itself, what's to consider..? Like chipset, GPU, network, etc.. And what's the method to determine which ROM version compatible with device target..?
No. Each rom is built for the device. If you flash a rom not made for your device you will brick it

HTC 10 Lifestyle! ROMs and Kernels!

Hi all! I did not find anything on the forum related to ROMs and Kernels for HTC 10 Lifestyle, the variant that comes with Snapdragon 652 and 3GB RAM! I bought one, would like to know if the existing mods will be compatible with the Lifestyle variant?
Bump! Even if someone would point me towards development of kernel for this variant would be good!

If the only difference is the amount of RAM and the CPU, it should be pretty easy to port AOSP-based ROMs (like CM) once they will be ready for the regular 10.
I highly doubt that someone will go and develop custom ROMs based on stock for this variant. I guess you can only wait for now.

Do you have any idea on how to? Kernel sources are up for my variant and there are custom kernels available for regular HTC 10.

I've successfully rooted my Leagoo T5c, now what?

Hi everyone,
After a few hiccups, I successfully rooted my Leagoo T5c, thanks to the excellent tutorial posted here. The phone works fine, thank you, but now, I'd like to know how to proceed to, say, upgrade the phone from its current Android version (7.0) to a more recent version.
Where to start?
Since this phone has a Spreadtrum/Unisoc SC9853i SoC (Intel-based), I suppose the custom ROMs and upgrade possibilities are few and far between, but I'd like to give it a shot.
I'm open to ideas, tips, tricks, voodoo moves and Santeria incantations, but I'm still a noob when it comes to Android, so please, be patient, and methodical... :good:
@UglyStuff
If you can unlock phone's boot-loader then you should be able to flash any Custom Recovery and/or Custom ROM that's suitable to 100% to phone's CPU-architecture. Who is the supplier of phone's SoC isn't of any interest at all.
Hi,
Thing is, as I said, I'm a noob when it comes to Android, so I don't want to brick my phone by trying to make it ingest a ROM that's not suitable for it.
If my phone came with a MediaTek or Qualcomm SoC, I wouldn't worry, because there are plenty of ROMs out there, custom or not, to play with, but this Spreadtrum/Unisoc SoC is a thing of its own.
It's based on Intel's Airmont architecture, and few phones or tablets use it, at least this specific version (SC9853i). Maybe I just don't understand too well how a ROM is built.

For example, I found this article where they explain how to flash LineageOS 17 (based on Android 10) on a Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 that uses the same SoC as my Leagoo T5c.
The thing is, I don't know if this is transposable to my device, though the two share the same SoC. As I said earlier, I don't want to permanently brick my phone...
@UglyStuff
The mentioned Intel Airmount SoC's instruction set architecture is x86_64 , the also mentioned Intel Spreadtrum SC9853i SoC's instruction set architecture is x86_64, too. Hence in order to upgrade yor phone's Android you need a Custom ROM compiled for x86_64 architecture. GIYF ...
OK, but since this Panasonic and my Leagoo share the same SoC, they also share the same x64 instruction set, so do I get it right if I say that the custom ROM built for the Panasonic would fit on my Leagoo, or am I missing something?
In theory it should.
OK, I guess I'll have to chance it, and use recovery in case things so south. My phone isn't compatible with Treble, according to this app. Does it mean anything in terms of installing one of the generic system images found here or not?
