SD Card issues on android R roms - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello, i've recently tried to update on my Redmi 5 Plus global to android R from my android Q custom ROM (crDroid 6.12 WEEKLY). sadly, every android R custom rom that i try to use always gives me the "tap to fix the issues on SD Card" notification, wich formats the sd card but is then unable to access it. i have tried StarlightOS, Pixel Extended and ProjectStreak and with none of these i am able to access the sd card slot.
How can i fix this?
EDIT: i managed to fix the issue and now everything is working correctly. for those who have the same issue i solved this by first formatting the microsd for internal storage and then after that was finished i went in the settings and formatted the micro sd to external. after that it should work perfectly.

[Q] Phone doesn't recognize USB internal storage as SD Card

I upgraded to the most recent Batista70 rom, and after that to the CheckROM (from the old Leomar revolution ROM).
I can access the internal SD card in every possible way, except I can't move apps to it. Every time I try it says "Your phone does not have SD card. Insert SD card.", even though in the Manage Applications menu, on the SD Card tab it shows all the apps that can be moved to the card as well as the correct storage underneath.
Debugging is off. It's a fresh install. In the Storage menu, it refers to the internal SD card as "USB storage" and to the external SD card (which I have none) as just SD card.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Use a different rom. For some reason I believe some roms have bugs. I had this same issue with barista hence I moved back to checkrom
Copy files to pc then format the Sd card the move the files to your sd card hope it work !

I installed checkrom 3.0.0 based on XXKJ2, and will now try to install 3.1.1 which is based on XWKJ3.
The strange thing is, even in CWM recovery, I can install zips from the sd card, but it has the option to "install a zip from the internal sd card", and that doesn't work, so I'm afraid even CWM is reading that as the usb storage.

That is strange indeed. Now the only thing left to do I suppose is to reflash via odin before flashing a custom rom.
Format SD Card
Format your SD card, first copy all your files to your PC. Then wipe all data and install a new rom
Just flashed a stock rom, albeit not it's first (which was from July), and the problem persists...
I filed a bug report on the Checkrom bugtracker here: bugtracker. checkrom. com/ view.php?id=31 (can't post links, too new a user)
I'm guessing it's not a problem with their rom anymore, but if they solve it, good for everyone...
It's really strange because I can read the SD card perfectly, and it even shows on the pc when I plug the phone in, but some applications, like camera and microphone can't record on it. The economist magazine accessed it without problem and downloaded into it a couple of issues, so... strange...

Format 32GB SD card in Jelly beans

Hi.
I have SGS2, with resurrection jelly beans ROM.
I purchased a new 32GB SD card. but I'm not able to mount it to the device.
When I connect the USB, it appears on my computer as a separate storage beside the internal one,
and I can access it with ROOt Explorer.
I heard formatting it inside the device will help, but in settings-->Storage I do not have the option to format the SD card (despite f that it is detected in the settings). Any help is appreciated
Flash stock ICS, format card, flash RR JB.
Early build ROMS
JB ROMs are still in early builds (beta). You can expect few issues from them -camera lags and SD card support are common.
I'm holding the line for stable ROMs.

[Q] Lollipop and SD card issues

Hey guys I have a problem with 32GB Transcend microSD card on my VF Smart Ultra 6, which has a pretty much clean version of Android 5.0.2. I used FAT32 first and then without any error or notification, the apps I moved to SD card just disappeared from the system. All other files on the card were perfectly accessible from the filemanager though. When browsing through the app list the apps were present, but had a grey icon with SD on it. I had to reboot phone for them to appear again. I formated the SD card with exFAT, which is working perfectly fine, however when I want to grant SD write permission to filemanager the SD card is not present in the list. Is this a bug, how can I fix this?
Thanks.

There ara some fixes for this problem, but you have to get root and custom recovery

Aww, that sucks , so this is a known bug. Any chance this might be fixed in 5.1? Vodafone promised to bring 5.1 to this phone.
I found a fix eventually. I reformated SD card to exFAT and then fixed write permissions for SD card by using root and SD Card Fix app. You cannot grant write permissions to exFAT without root for some reason (some dumb reason really). This problem never happened again on exFAT.

Android M SD as internal. Some questions related to it

Hi there guys.
I have Spice Dream Uno (Android one device) running Android M. I have some queries related to using SD card as internal storage.
I have Samsung EVO+ 32 GB card.
Now here's my question.
If i use sd card as internal then it says it would work only in this device one.
Now after i did it i used sd card adapter to transfer my files, but it didn't worked it asked me format my sd card.
So at this point i think its the best to have secure storage.
I only transfer files via usb cable(No problem at this).
Now,
1) If i do factory reset will this card still work on my device or do i have to format it by loosing all data ?
2) If i flash custom ROM MM based will the card and files still remain the same ?
This would be interesting for me, too.

sandisk SD card error with 9.0 roms

been flashing some of the roms for the V30 recently to see how they were and have been getting a "issue with SanDisk SD card" which would lead to having to format my sd card in order to use it as extra phone storage or portable storage, and have been wondering is this just a thing with 9.0 and sd cards in general or the roms? phone i have is US998 and the roms I've been flashing have been LineageOS 16.0 [Unofficial] and Dot OS 3.0.
Its the ROM. My 200gb sandisk card also refused to mount on AOSP Pie ROMs, even though it works fine on stock and TWRP. Might be because its formatted as exFAT
Haven't tried flashing any custom ROMs on my LG V30 yet, but I have had this issue crop up on older devices when toying with different ROMs..
In those cases, it was just a matter of one ROM expecting an SD card formatted in one file system, and another ROM utilizing a different file system.
If that's the case here, you'd best just backup the contents of the SD card to a computer, let the new ROM reformat the SD card, then restore the contents of the SD card from your computer backup.
DotOS works if your on the March version, April update broke it for me but my Sandisk 200Gb works perfectly on the march version. (VS996)
Confirmed, its due to said ROM being built without exFAT support in the kernel. Mainline AOSP doesn't have it, so its entirely up to the maintainer. FAT32 is a safe format, but it sucks if you want to use your sdcard to store large videos due to the 4gb limit
