I notice CM6 has quite a lot of options, however, is it possible to add more options like enabling torch to assist auto focus, manual focus, adjustable shutter speed and aperture.
And for the video cam, force framerate and disabling auto ISO would be good.

I also would like to see those options available. I think our hardware can support it, just doesn't out of the box on the software end of things. Likely those options would all be very difficult to replicate. I have tried looking into third party alternatives (Camera 360, Vignette, etc..) but none of them actually do what you need -- they just process the image to make it look like you had done it with a good camera..

but cyanogen has managed to come out with exposure, iso, metering, brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness settings. i think it would be great if he adds a few more settings to give users full manual control over the camera
additional features like torch auto focus assist and exposure lock would be good. and also disabling auto iso and reduce frame rates for video cam at low lights would be good.
All the settings above - exposure, metering, etc - are included in HTC camera application, which is probably the one used on CM (didn't check CM), or that's where they come from. I don't know if original SW was rewritten to get them, but if so - it was definitely rewritten basing on HTC camera.
Having manual controls of the camera / focus assist / etc might require deep HW knowledge and documentation of features that are probably not available to the public. Focus assist might be easy, but other functions aren't. I wouldn't be waiting for the day this request is fulfilled, because this day will most probably never come.
An alternative way would be porting the HTC Camera in desire to CM6 ,then at least we will have touch to focus.
I was an iphone 5 user and made the switch over to the Note 2 recently. One thing I miss is this app called Simply HDR. It's a faux HDR that added some neat effects. I'm no photographer at all so I don't understand your basic photo settings which is why simply HDR was great because you could just choose a pre set and be done.
Does anyone know of an app that does pretty much the same thing, maybe one that I missed?
I have tried pretty much all apps i come across and the only one that comes close is HDR fx. Downside is it is way over done and the photos look over processed and terrible. There is also very few pre sets that create the desired effect.
Have you tried

I purchased the following apps and have had great success with them.
You can see some photos taken with Pro HDR Camera on my Flickr @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/
Pro HDR Camera
HDR FX Pro (Have to play with the settings quite a bit to get the desired effect)
Perfectly Clear (Used to clean up images before sending to HDR FX or perform additional touch-ups after processing with HDR FX)
Pixlr Express (Used to clean up images before sending to HDR FX or perform additional touch-ups after processing with HDR FX and useful for resizing images)
You may also want to take a look at Vignette Camera and Camera FV-5. In my opinion, Camera FV-5 gives you the most control over the settings and pics.
Hope this helps

Hey im back... you can continue with life =)
Unfortuantely the only app that gets close to what im looking to accomplish was photo fx but it was way over processed looking. Ive got to spend time tinkering.
I got an email from the guys at Simplyhdr/JixPix and they plan in releasing simply HDR on android soon hopefully. Its not a natural hdr which most if the apps here seem to be doing actualy hdr function...taking multiple photos and stitching them together. Simlly hdr takes one and creates an hdr effect that seems more dramatic. Hard to explain.
try this...

Just use a camera ... I mean if you are that picky about HDR settings on a cellphone..
As this device powered by SD 730 chipset it should support gcam port...
So share gcam mod that supports on our Device

I found Urnyx05's latest version runs well without issues. As well as Arnova but requires to switch the Mod in order to make the slow motion work.
But switching camera lenses is missing in both versions. Also timelapse does not run of 4k mode in Urnyx05.

I noticed a big difference between google camera and the stock camera in terms of landscape views, google camera does a lot better(especially after turning on Lib patcher settings). But for individual objects it seems the stock camera does better in terms of exposure. I think I will depend on google cam just for landscape photos and raw images.
One thing I also found today, when I record with Slow Motion in google cam.. the video will not work.
I haven't found any that adequately support the phone's cameras.
Waiting in vain for astrophotography support with more than 3sec shutter speed.
This device doesn't even have a full PRO camera mode that can adjust shutter speed.
got it on my stock build A71. Photo's are good, but can't do widescreen. Videos are ok, seams quicker on videos, less time "catching up " with what's on the screen . will test outside later, no AR as well , but stable.
we need a port that can use the fullest of the cameras, ex: 64mp, this way we can take raw pictures and have more control

I'm not sure samsung allows full access to the camera for 3rd party apps in the A71. For example I can't get 60 or more fps in any 3rd party app regardless of the resolution, including filmic pro. Only 30 and 24 fps is possible. Real shame...

Yeah I noticed that too, This phone cameras are really good, nothing to complain, just the stock camera app that It's too limited, the phone support camera2api but the stock app doesn't let us tweak our photos in a professional way, there's that "Pro" mode in the app but it's nothing near the real capabilities of Camera2Api with raw photos and so on.
I read in Arnova's article in Google Camera port that there is a module for magisk to enable all the cameras of the phone. Anyone tried it ?
Also I would confirm that there are still issues with the slow motion recorder, the video will be lagging.
I have just checked the last update of Urnyx 7.3.0.018and added the config file of Samsung A71 and it actually works very well! even switching Auxiliary Camera works. But there are two things are still missing:
1-It seems it swithces to the wide camera only (12mp) for both 0.6x and 2x, so 64mp and micro are not added.
2-Slow motion mode still lagging.
I think we should work on making a specific version or configs for A71 which enables the rest of Cameras.
[UPDATE]
Using Arnova Gcam, lastest version. I was able to switch the camera lens between 12mp (wide) and 16mp(main). The other lenses keep crashing the app.
This was done by setting ID Camera 0 and ID Camera 2 in the Mod settings. Maybe by the magisc module it may work, yet my phone is not rooted.

We have a new system update that enables some of the pro mode functions. However, when changing the shutter speed the stock camera always fails...
And some changes when doing an astrophotography shot with the gcam before the update there is less than 3 sec shutter speed. Now i can get 14 sec. But the photo still dark and awful.

By editing the options you can export a config file. For example in Arnova's version, there is a mod option which gives you extra optiions that you set and then export a config file, I don't know much but I think for our case we need deeper changes in the port. We might need to edit the port files.

Yes but that's not enough, I personally aim for 64mp camera and if we are able to take RAW images with that will be a nice thing. We have a good camera in this phone but it is diappointing Samsung did not provide Raw Images option in the new update.

Is anyone elses viewfinder laggy? The preview image?
Guys, just seconds ago, I found, that there's the (from what I guess) new photo pro app from xperia 1 III is available here apkmirror.com
I tried to install and it worked!
Not able to take a screenshot as it's forbidden by system (not really necessary, sony). It has the new basic mode, that was shown on press release.
What are the differences with the mark II version? Difference in image quality or options?
From my guess, what sony is going to archive in future models, is to combine the normal and the pro-app, so there would be no need to develop and maintain two different apps - that saves money for them.
The linked app is already combined, some settings are slightly different insinde the pro-modes. You can switch to effects from basic-mode. I'm going to try to abandon the normal app and see, if the new one misses anything.
Thanks for posting that. I've tried it and it's great except that I normally open photo Pro in manual mode but this new app defaults to the basic camera app so you then have to change it to the camera pro app yourself. A small thing but just one more step that we didn't have previously when the two were separate apps. I see no setting to change how it opens by default so if anyone else does...
On a positive note, I may be imagining a slight thing but I think quality has maybe improved fractionally. To be specific, everyone has raved about this phone taking RAW files that you can develop yourself ( even though I think most flagship phones do now ) but I have always found that indoor shots with this phone in RAW always require a tripod which means you are just as well getting your real camera out. The ISO has to be low otherwise there is so much noise that even tools in lightroom struggle to fix it. But I think I see less noise now in handheld shutter speeds in low light.
But thanks to OP for spotting this app & bringing it to our attention.
BTW, how does anyone know this is the app from Xperia 1 iii when it's not released yet? Is there information on Sony website?
Many thanks.

I always open the Pro app with a push on the camera button. The new Pro app can be configured to open in Pro mode when pressing the camera button, so it works great for me.

That's what I've done too, with button mapper app. Howerver, it does not work when screen is off for my non rooted device. Don't forget to set photopro bypass in button mapper when photopro is active.
Tap tap app is also an interesting option.
For now I removed the update and reverted to the original Pro app.

Is there a way how to downgrade to original Photo Pro w/o root? I fear the answer is no.
It seems this upgrade broke eye AF at least on 70mm camera. All pictures of my wife and daughter focused on eye are out of focus. . Also manual object tracking seems not to work at all.

Unfortunately, on our device Xperia 1II, this new photopro app tends to take photos out of focus...
It seems that when the stock camera is in pro mode it does not apply Auto HDR to the JPEG image, whether it is told to save the jpeg only or RAW+jpeg. Is that the intended behavior? I agree that the raw needs to be left alone but not applying Auto HDR to the jpeg is disappointing, to say the least, particularly since pro mode is the only place to tame the overly saturated color rendition of the stock camera app.
Unfortunately it's intended behavior.
You can try Good Lock Camera Assistant and disable Scene Optimizer to tame the contrast in default mode.

You already answered your question about missing HDR in Pro mode. HDR does over saturate the colors.
Samsung should be embarrassed about this camera. OP, did you find a way to reduce saturation without losing HDR?
I tried GCam but half of the functionality doesn't work on S23 at present and I want my camera to be easy/reliable.

I don't think that there is any.
You can go with camera mode, but the picture is overprocessed, and you cannot play with it much.
You can go with PRO mode, but you don't have HDR and therefore wide dynamic range.
You can go with ExpertRAW, but the processing of the pictures is somehow even worse than in the base camera app.
You can go with GCAM, but then you don't have access to greater resolution than 12 Mpix (as Samsung is not exposing API to 3rd party apps for 50Mpix and 200Mpix) and some of the features are not working that easily and video mode is limited (same reason as for 50/200 Mpix not available).
