About a year ago my Dad got an Mi 5S Plus and the seller claimed it was on the global ROM but it's clearly not.
We want to switch him to the global ROM or to lineage to remove some of the MIUI bloat and more importantly to fix some apps...
My mum also has the Mi 5S plus and hers came with the global ROM and various apps that work perfectly on hers don't work on my dad's phone.
I think it would be better to go for Lineage to improve battery life and general app compatibility so I'm looking for some advice on how to switch.
I've rooted and installed various ROMs on various phones from HTC Desire Z, Google One, Pixel 2 XL, Samsung S3, HTC One M7 so I've got experience just never done a non-mainstream phone.
The phones details are:
MIUI Version: 11.0.2 Stable (OBGCNXM)
Security Patch: 2018 / 10 / 01

hey guys, just a couple of questions to those who already tried or maybe tested china , global and xiaomi.eu rom for Mi5.
bloatware aside:
1. which is more stable of all roms available at the time of this writing?
2. which one is more battery friendly?
3. is it possible to have a fully rooted china rom after unlocking BL?
4. hows the camera quality of china vs global vs xiaomi.eu

after the upgrade i see battery life got degraded a lot

You can do it only using a custom ROM. S6 will not receive any updates

Yes, there are many custom ROM: Resurrection Remix and LineageOS are the most famous. I advise you Ultimate Oreo Note 8 port, you can find it on XDA. I can't submit the link of it, but you can simple find it

I can't, it's invalid for XDA. You can simply find "Ultimate Oreo note 8 port v.1 s6 " with Google, it's the first XDA result.
Also, note that S6 Edge battery is terrible, mostly after most time. Custom ROM probably wouldn't help you a lot

i recently rooted my phone trying to install viper4android which just wouldn't work on my android 10 stock rom no matter the workaround. so i was thinking of going for a stock rom for the first time. most threads on roms don't have many bugs listed unless you search through comments where it gets kinda confusing. so if you have any experience with custom roms on realme 3 pro, you can help a guy in need . i also included android 9 because viper4andoid is apparently easier installed on android 9 than 10.

Since then, I haven't updated my MiPad 4. Just wondering what's the most stable ROM on the market currently? Xiaomi.EU or AOSP like CRDroid or something else? I mainly care about having the basic features that aren't broken, working camera and good battery life.

Not yet. Xiaomi is intenally testing Android 12 on many devices already and some devices are already in beta testing (available for registered beta testers, first test are always done on chinese market, Global versions come later). I reckon Android 12 for Mi 11 Lite (4G and 5G) comes in Q1/Q2 22, it's not flagship and low/mid class phones are always updated later.
