What the hell is up with the camera being all zoomed in in Snapchat? Seems to be 1.5x zoom.

I noticed that the Camera doesnt like to focus all the time when taking pictures with the sock camera app. I used different apps and they work fine. But i want to record videos. When doing so the camera goes out of focus alot. Is there any fix or an alternative video recording app with 1080p recording?
Hey all; I have found the camera gets confused with focusing in some instances (IE; bug on glass pane) where "Close up" and "Auto" won't focus on the object at any distance at all.
Is there some app that can control camera focus normally?
Thanks!
I'd like to know something for this as well. Macro shots are terrible on this camera.
Just so everyone knows, we're not looking for something with a digital zoom(Since that takes away a lot of quality).
I've tried the stock camera, camera zoom fx, and camera FV-5(This one runs terribly for some reason). FV-5 has a manual focus mode, but it doesn't work very well and is kind of annoying to me.
I think the best chance you really have for getting any decent macroshots is to use a reverse lens or a proper macro lens.
oK, here's a gist of it...
The stock camera app is "ok". But I like Zoom Camera FX better. It takes better picture, better control, better after FX, etc...
But when I switch to video from Zoom, it goes back to the stock camera app (which is ok), but only in QVGA mode. Which drives me nuts. We have a 1080-capable video recording camera, but we can only use it if we fire up the stock camera app.
WHAT GIVES??
any ideas?
or this is strictly a Zoom Camera FX issue?
Zoom camera fx doesn't do video capture as far as I know

Hey
I wonder if its possible to record without the camera to zoom. Apparently photo and video is 2 different cameras and then you start to record it will zoom in but if you are using snapchat it wont zoom in when youre recording so it might be possible. Anybody with some good ideas?
It's all in the aspect ratio. Photos are captured in 4:3 aspect ratio, videos are 16:9 so it ends up being a cropped image from the sensor. Snapchat probably uses a different resolution that the native camera app doesn't support.
You could set your photo aspect ratio to 16:9 then you wouldn't see a difference when switching to video mode, but you're also reducing the megapixel count by doing so

if you long press on the record button, it will zoom at the beginning of the long press, but will not start recording until you release the long press. that gives you time to preview the zoom and frame the shot before you begin recording.
I installed the Open Camera app on my Redmi Note 9s. When trying to take a picture with the rear camera there is no shutter sound and no image is stored. Shooting videos works, taking pictures with the front camera too. Does anyone have a solution?
