Mobileunlockguide.com and Unlock it step by step.....
Another SNAFU related to Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). It is of course illegal, naughty, and vulgar to unlock your phone. However, since a large conservative voting block has become outraged and enraged to see what exactly this Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) has in it there are a number of temporary exemptions. Surely designed to grease the wheel and stop the squeeking as opposed to a public outcry that would lead to repeal of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
As I understand it carriers are compelled to do nothing other than charge you for all they can charge you!
I walked into an AT&T kiosk and simply stated with a smile, "would you please unlock this". The young lady accomplished the task in less time than it took to tour their meager selection of technology on display, returning it with a pleasent thank you for communicating with AT&T.
An article on the subject which apparently has been harped by fans of Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) can be found here at Wikipedia regarding sim lock.
Although this fellow seems elated that it is now "Legal" to unlock his iPhone. This is merely a temporary "exemption" revokeable at any moment that a beaurocratic buffoon recieves sufficient motivation to do $o.
I heard rumors saying that starting from 2017, telecoms in the US your phone's FCC ID to activate their service? Does this mean we cannot use international phones without an FCC ID? Can anyone confirm this?
I got my hands on the Mate 10 pro from Vodafone in the UK. Loving the phone so far, my only gripe is its not a Dual SIM.
Are updates from Huawei pushed via the carrier or directly from Huawei?
This is my first Huawei phone, looking around on the forums it appears someone has the sole rights to the updates and you have to use their own propriety software and methods to push updates on to the handset and pay for the pleasure. I'm sincerely hoping that's not the case.
Do Huawei publish updates in a timely Manner? If someone could confirm that would be great.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
V
If the phone is branded (simlocked) you'd have to wait on the carrier to add all their junk first otherwise it would come straight from Huawei

Thank you for the Clarification, Nice to meet a fellow Mancunian :fingers-crossed:
Hey guys.
Isn't it possible to get a bootloader unlock code anymore?
Ministry of Solutions doesn't support even the chinese version anymore.
FunkyHuawei has raised the price from 55$ to 99$ and the service is currently completely down.
I had placed an order at FunkyHuawei, it has been 20 days now and they still didn't deliver.
This is worrisome. It looks like Huawei was shutting down all unlock code services one at a time, and the last one was for India - where FH and the other 2 known services were getting their codes. We have to rely on FH making a contact within Huawei itself or something, I doubt Huawei plans to offer unlock codes anymore.
Is there any chance that an outside party can come up with a way? Or... Are the codes totally dependent on an uncrackable algorithm that is tied to individual EMEI numbers?
That would suck if those of us who never got the .171 update missed our chance. Let's hope another source comes along, FH will no doubt remain enigmatic on the issue in the meantime. Bleh.
Trump declares 'national emergency' to make way for Huawei ban (updated)

President Trump today declared a national emergency, which could set up a huge blow to China's Huawei.

What I'm wondering about is whether this may affect Xiaomi phones too. Don't want to not be able to use my phone obviously.

Here's another article and video. I guess they don't want them supplying the equipment for 5G networks. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/why-the-trump-administration-is-so-concerned-about-huawei
