After a day of trying I have found out!
1. Device must be off (duh)
2. Push the pin in and hold
3. Put 4 fingers on the screen
4. You may need to tap each finger. Maybe not. To be determined
This is what I did. I may have done. But there you have it.
Let me know what works for you!
What I found works:
Power off (obviously)
Hold the reset button until the LG logo appears
Quickly tap at least 3 times. It has to be in opposite corners. Eg: Upper left, lower right, upper left. sometimes I had to tap more often.
Heres a video:

Thanks!
But I've been doing it by drawing a diagonal from top left to bottom right.... Kinda the same as yours.
Cheers!
you save my watch!!!
than you!!!!!!
Or you can just swipe from the top left corner to bottom right while its at the book logo. Works 100% of the time and is the official method.
I constantly open my phone to check the time, hit the home key one handed and look at time on lock screen. But now I'm holding my phone by the bottom right corner and have dropped the phone before while trying to reach up and press the side button to close... it's a pain.
Sure I can sit there and wait for timeout, or I can put it back in my pocket, in which case it might "swipe open" and be doing all kinds of things while in there.
Wouldn't it be cool to look at the time and just click something, like the home button again, or the 'back button' and have the phone close again??
Anyone know how?

Are you rooted? If so using the home or back button could be possible via smali edit. If your not rooted, I can write an app that will show a square (size determined by you) that will show on your lock screen. When you tap this square, it will shut off the screen, tapping and moving your finger on the square will move the square. Square is removed once unlocked.

You can reassign one of the capacitive keys (e.g. "back button") to turn the display off with an Xposed framework module. And there are legions of apps that do similar actions if you do a search.
Even better IMO is to use a lock screen app like Dynamic Notifications which can automatically show you the time when you pull it out of your pocket and automatically turn off the screen as you put it back in a pocket. Without pressing any keys at all. It does this by using the proximity sensor and it works very well indeed.

They may not be running xposed. Therefore an xposed module may not work. Secondly, all lock screen apps suck. Also, if it's using the proximity sensor to turn on the display from your pocket, it's draining additional battery.

All lock screens suck? Your objectivity is astounding. No subjective bias there whatever. The idea is to provide options to the OP, not cater to your idiosyncrasies.
The battery draw for the suggested app is tiny, much less than most apps that do not poll the proximity sensor and you have no idea if the OP may or may not wish to use an Xposed module.

No lockscreen app can provide the same amount of security as the default lockscreen. Therefore, it sucks. I can and have gotten around all popular lockscreen apps on the play store. Yes, the idea is to provide options to the OP, but make them good options and practical options.

Funniest thing I heard all day. This is a winner.
Anyhow, hope the OP has figured something out.
Is anyone here using the fingerprint unlock facility with a >80% success rate? I find that, at least 50% of the time, when I place my finger on the button I get presented with the PIN screen and a message saying something like "device locked by administrator". I've tried re-learning my fingerprint 3 times but it didn't help. The Smart Lock using my Asus Zenwatch is no better - in fact it works <25% of the time.
Is anyone here having better luck?
I have had no problems unless my hands are really oily after working on a car or if my hands look like a prune after a shower or something. I've been using the finger print scanner since I've had the phone.
Mine works 10 times out of 10 it's soooo accurate, without compromising in speed, I think it's one of the fastest scanners available
Used it from first day I got phone and no problems. Works 100%.

Hmmm...maybe the problem relates to me using Nova Launcher???
I use Nova.

I use Nova Launcher too and have no problems! 100% reliability!
But i have scanned all my fingerprints twice ( two finger profiles for every finger!) to get better scanning identification.
BTW: I have protected "FingerprintASM; & FingerprintAuthenticator" Task against battery optimization to get better results.
So fingerprint recognition is a little faster after a long time of device sleeping period.
Mine works perfectly, 100% of the time.
"Settings > Fingerprints and Security > Phone Administrators" One or more apps there have been enabled with "Lock the screen" permission and you're triggering its method to get that prompt.
System-based locking methods don't get that prompt, e.g. screen timeout, double-tap on status bar, hitting power button...
Any method that hooks into the lock process by this admin permission usually prompts for the code as you found. For example, my launcher (Smart Launcher Pro) has a double-tap to sleep option if enabled as admin. However, it asks for code even on successful scan every time. I keep the status bar visible and tap it instead now.
Take a closer look at your admin list and evaluate apps - whether to uninstall, disable admin permission, or try to turn off that lock screen setting only inside the app(s).
Also consider registering main finger(s) at least twice as @non-toxic noted above. I had about 80% successful scan rate and that trick got me to virtually 100%.

Thanks. It turns out that Nova had admin permissions. I've disabled them and now fingerprint unlock works fine. I also had another app/widget installed - Screen Off and Lock. This was a useful widget that I positioned in the bottom left corner of the screen so that I could easily turn off the display with my thumb when I was using the phone left-handed. Unfortunately that caused problems for fingerprint unlocking as well.
Does anyone know of another way of turning off the display with one tap near the bottom of the screen? I know that double-tapping on the notification bar will do it, but that's usually a 2-handed operation.
It's worked pretty well for me. Maybe the scanner is just dirty so you could wipe it off before trying. If the problem persists, I would suggest that you delete the fingers recorded and just save new ones.
Hey Friends,
i noticed, that unlike other phones, I am having the issue of having to tap twice on the screen to get the phone to react.
More specifically, when I am scrolling up (for example the whatsapp contact list) and I tap on a contact shortly after the scrolling has hit the top the app will not go into the contact despite the tap.
I have to wait 1-2 seconds and then tap for it to actually register the tap itself.
I am having a similar tap issue with the nav bar below. I find myself often tapping twice on the circle to get to home. Somehow the hits are not registering in time/correctly.
To my surprise, there are apps (e.g. the home drawer) that react on the first tap.
Anyone with similar issues?
anyone?

No problem on my Pro either!
No issue here, but I'm running newer firmware.
I'm giving this a try.

I'm having similar issues but went to settings/ smart assistance and messed with "touch disable mode and glow mode"
Also try settings/ language and imput/ pointer speed.
I'm giving this a try for a couple of days before my return period expires good luck!
Case closed?
I thought i was the only one since i hadn't seen anybody post about it
I finally decided to remove the "tempered glass" which after removal I realized its not tempered glass, but a very thick screen protector (don't know what brand, I got this phone from a friend). So I was hoping that the screen protector is the culprit and YES, after removal my touchscreen sensitivity is better now. I wouldn't say it's performing perfectly, but it's much better than before. No more typo every now and then lol.
Edit:
Still getting trouble (just less frequent than before) especially when im typing fast, the letter S and A usually missed out. For example, i typed "missed" but result is "mised". And spacebar too! So annoying
Also like OP, nav bar sometimes i hv to tap twice.
i have problem with navbar not responding for about 1.5 sec after doing some stuff on homescreen. workaround for me was to switch to different navbar style after phone reboot. after next one delay returns. reported it to huawei and we'll see what happens. im on 8.0.0.129. to reproduce just tap anywhere on screen and then rigt after try to press any button on the navbar.
Same here, had touch issue since day 1. Sometimes it ignores space, sometimes I have a hard time using gesture with OnePlus gestures and so on. Gloves mode help a bit. Probably some digitiser are worse and the software can compensate only so much. I mean you can always use the warranty...
Once screen pinned, then it's not coming to normal state by pressing and holding the back and recents buttons together.
Can anyone help me
Any update
Nope still the same on stable MIUI 10 global. Which is disaster especially if you use navigation gestures as it's very easy to pin the screen. Does anyone on Android P beta experience the same issue?
BTW I'm on MIUI 10.1.3.0 (Poco f1). I've tried everything to turn on Screen pinning but I couldn't find that under settings. Please help.
How to avoid screen pinning.
I have found a way to avoid restart when screen pinned button is pressed accidentally which is always annoying.
Method: When screen pinned button is pressed it will show you instructions to unpin. Just press the power key, there you go you have successfully avoided the screen to be pinned.
Note: Don't press ok button when it shows how to unpin, if pressed ok then only way to get out is restart.
This method will work for both button and full screen gestures users
Hope I've helped.

Yyayyy indeed that works! Thanks buddy as it's been so annoying since I've been using full screen gestures for navigation and would always have to restart the phone. Thank you
Steps to activate/disable Screen pinning:
- Install Settings Database Editor ( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by4a.setedit22 ). Add https://
- Open App and go to "System Table"
- Find or Create a key (it didn't exist in my case, so I created it) with name "lock_to_app_enabled" and set value "1" (ON) or "0" (OFF)
Tested in miui global beta 9.3.21 and works flawlessly.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, this "feature" has been really getting on my nerves, and I've managed to get out of the screen pinning by getting tap happy with the buttons and keys but without really working it out and not wanting to test. Well I got stuck in it again today to the point of Googling again for a solution (which I didn't find), but I found my own so thought i'd post it, i'm using a Xiaomi Mi 9 running MIUI Global 10.2.30 but expect the same to apply to the POCOPHONE F1 also.
When your screen is pinned press the physical power button and the home (middle) soft button and screen pinning will be removed, hopefully that helps someone else out !
How you pin your screen? I am new in miui (10.3.8.0) please help.
I use full screen mode.
I couldn't find any option to pin screen
Yes bro it works fine and now i can use DMR in oubg for tap tap tapp Thanks bro

This technique also works on RN8PRO running EEA MIUI 11.0.2.0. Many thanks for sharing the tip as it is a really useful feature.
However would anyone of you know how to enable password feature when unpinning?
Since that pinning feature does not seem to be 'supported' natively by our Xiaomi phones I'd be curious to know what key to add to also have the password supported when unpinning.
I'd guess we could get that value from any other phone running stock android and supporting the pinning feature natively.
Thanks
UPDATE:
Sharing if it may interest someone like me.
So I grabbed my old non MIUI phone and dig its settings.
Turns out we can enable lock on unpinning by just adding an other simple value key in Secure table.
To be allowed to do so, you first need to grant extra permission to app through adb:
It may not be the case for all devices but for my RN8PRO I needed root (su) to apply the adb command.
Code:
pm grant by4a.setedit22 android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Once permission granted, select Secure table, and add the following new key:
Code:
lock_in_app_exit_locked 1
All set, you will now be asked to unlock screen once you unpin pinned app by long pressing back.
Hope this helps.
