HMS Huawei Celia vs GMS Google assistant
Having a great virtual assistant is an integral part of a smartphone. Virtual assistants are used for getting information with voice activity, controlling smart home technology, getting directions, playing music, and much more. Anyone with a GMS powered phone will have access to Google Assistant, which is one of the most popular virtual assistants. For HMS powered phones, Huawei launched an alternative service called Celia. So how does it compare to Google assistant?
Google Assistant [GMS]
Google Assistant is a very reliable tool for controlling your device, along with thousands of compatible third-party devices. Google Assistant is available on many different types of devices, whether it's headphones, your TV, laptops and desktops, Android phones, and dedicated Google hardware like Google Home devices. The massive amount of compatible hardware is Google Assistant's strongest feature. The virtual assistant has had many years to grow and expand to what it is today. Now your entire home can be controlled with commands from your phone.
Google Assistant partners with many popular apps to bring you voice-controlled features. You can send a Snapchat and even choose a filter, just by using your voice. There are dozens of other music apps, streaming services, news apps, and more that work really well with Google Assistant.
Huawei Celia [HMS]
Celia is a fairly new feature from Huawei and is available on a select number of newer Huawei phones. Right now this service is only available on the HUAWEI P40 series, and we will see it on many more phones in the future. This is designed to offer users a good solution for a virtual assistant on their HMS phone. Celia can offer similar functions to Google Assistant, so anyone familiar with that system will be able to use Celia with ease.

Celia supports voice-activated commands. Say "Hey Celia", and your assistant will start listening. From here, you can use a bunch of detailed commands. Use Celia to compose text messages, set alarms, control your music, control specific phone settings, or to snap a selfie. This feature is great for the basics. Celia is also compatible with HiVision AI Lens and AI touch-shopping. Apart from the flagship P40 lineup, the voice assistant should be available on more Huawei and Honor branded devices with the EMUI 10.1 update.
Right now Celia is not able to work with smart home devices. This may change in the future, but for now, it's restricted to what it can do on your phone. For the things it can do, it does them very well. For anyone missing the Google Assistant experience on their Huawei device, Celia will be a great replacement for them.
Quando a assistente Célia tive pronta vai fazer coisas incríveis.
Very nice alternative.
Celia seems to be more responsive than Google assistant

The Huawei Mate 40 series was launched in China on October 30. Volvo's first model with Huawei's HMS for Car intelligent in-vehicle cloud service solution, the Volvo XC40 RECHARGE, was also on display at the launch event.
The Volvo XC40 RECHARGE is now available for blind order and will be officially launched on November 20 at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
HMS for Car is Huawei's major exploration of the vehicle ecology, a smart in-car cloud service solution created by Huawei Terminal Cloud Services.
It is based on HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) and combines the AI scene engine with Huawei's ecological resources to provide users with accurate and rich travel scene content and services, helping the car evolve from a vehicle to an intelligent terminal with the ability to interact and provide services.
Since its debut at the Huawei Developer Conference in September this year, HMS for Car has attracted widespread attention.
The Volvo XC40 RECHARGE, equipped with Huawei's in-vehicle application marketplace, offers more than 35 applications covering 16 categories.
The new model is equipped with Huawei's "Quick App", which can be used without the need to download and install an app.
Volvo XC40 RECHARGE is also equipped with Huawei's Smart Assistant, which can push reminders, services, and journeys in the form of cards according to users' usage scenarios.
The Volvo XC40 RECHARGE is also equipped with Huawei's Smart Assistant, which can push reminders, services, and journeys in the form of cards. When users are driving home from work and are within 500 meters of their home, the system can automatically start the "home mode" and open the curtains and air conditioning in advance.
In addition to the Huawei App Market, Huawei Quick App, and Huawei Intelligent Assistant services already available on the Volvo XC40 RECHARGE, HMS for Car also includes the upcoming My Car, Huawei Music, and Huawei Video applications.
It is worth mentioning that the My Car feature opens up the system-level entry capability of smart hardware such as Huawei mobile phones to automakers, enabling reverse push capabilities such as remote control, car search, and key information about car services/alerts.

Navigation Apps HMS Vs. GMS
The best map application depends on access to a massive amount of data and users. These things are essential to creating a reliable navigation app. The largest map systems come from Google, Apple, and Microsoft. For Huawei phones that don't support GMS, HMS Core's Map Kit will be powering navigation apps. So in this thread, let's compare the HMS map applications available from Huawei's App Gallery, with Google Maps.
Google Maps [GMS]
Google Maps has been the king of real-time navigation for a long time now. Along with navigation, the service offers features for trip planning, offline maps, business hours, traffic updates, speed trap warnings, business reviews and so much more. It is the most advanced navigation system by far.
The overall experience of using Google Maps is as good as it gets. The app is easy to use, and the real-time navigation is best-in-class. The integration with Google Assistant makes voice control of the app, very easy. Google has such an advantage by having so many active users being able to upload reviews, photos, and traffic information to Google Maps. It is easy to find photos of local spots, and upload your photos for others to see.

Google Street View is made possible by Google vehicles driving the streets of your country and uploading pictures to the platform. Google Street View has had years to evolve and can be very helpful to get a better look at specific businesses, parking opportunities, and find address numbers.
Offline Map Navigation [HMS]
So without the ability to use Google Maps, Does HMS have any compatible apps that can compete? If you go to the Huawei App Gallery and search for navigation apps, only a small few will show up in the results. One of the only functioning apps I could find that had a decent amount of positive rating was an app called Offline Map Navigation. This is the best Google Maps alternative that I was able to find on the App Gallery. Navigation is the primary focus of this app, with the maps having a similar look to Google Maps. The app feels very familiar and is easy to use.
When it comes to navigating from point A to point B, Offline Map Navigation does this very well. Directions calculate quickly and accurately. The area that is lacking is real-time traffic data. You can get an accurate drive time to your location, but it will not warn you of traffic jams or accidents ahead. So it's more of a barebones version of Google Maps. It does the basics and it does them well, but many larger features from services like Google Maps are missing.
Business listings are just a name and location. The app is not able to offer reviews, photos, and detailed information about specific businesses. This simply is not possible without a massive userbase uploading information to the app.
There are clearly lots of opportunities for Developers to take advantage of the Map Kit to create great navigation apps for Huawei devices.
Super
Wow !!! thats nice !!
Snapchat HMS vs GMS
Snapchat has been one of the most popular apps in the world for a long time now. The app which features disappearing photos has evolved to a full-scale social media app. This growth was seen as the app topped the charts on the Google Play store and the Apple App Store. However, as newer Huawei phones were restricted access to GMS services, HMS Core was created in its place. Now Snapchat has been made to be compatible with HMS, making the app available to millions of more users.
So how does the HMS version compare to the GMS version of the app?
Snapchat - GMS
Snapchat is an essential app for communication and one of the most popular apps in the world. Upon getting a new phone, chances are you'll be installing Snapchat before anything else. This app lets you take photos, apply filters, play games with friends, live video chat, and post to your public or private stories. For GMS devices, the app works very well, aside from a downgrade in photo quality compared to the iOS version of the app.
Using GMS services, Snapchat is able to access location services, calls, storage, camera, and payment features. The app has been fleshed out over the many years of its existence and now runs with few bugs or crashes.

Snapchat - HMS
On your first install of Snapchat from the Huawei AppGallery, you may be prompted to update to the latest version of HMS core. This is needed to make all of the functions of Snapchat available. This is a quick process that will take under a minute.
Once you have the app going, you'll notice everything looks the same as it does in the GMS version of the app. Snap Maps is still accessible, with the ability to allow or deny access to your location data. I found all of the filters were available, just as they were on my GMS device. Stories, videos, photos, calling and all of the same features work just all well.
Testing out the speed of the HMS version, I sent several snapchats in the form of photos, videos, and texts to another phone. All of them were delivered in the same amount of time that it took a GMS powered phone to do.
Screenshots from Snapchat on HMS phone:
Interesting
So, everything is the same.
Are there any differences ?
not showing a screenshot of how the snap ends up looking means this "review" is trash.
the whole problem with snapchat on android is the picture quality looks horrible compared to iphones
Canva on HMS vs on GMS
With over 100,000,000 downloads, the Canva app is one of the most popular photo and video editing apps. It is designed to be used by anyone who wants to improve their photos or put together a video using their powerful editing tools. Use templates for specific social media platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook. This app will be able to crop your photo/video appropriately and export it in the correct resolution. It's an easy way to spice up your social media posts.
Traditionally Canva has only been available on GMS phones, through the Google Play store. Now you can download Canva for HMS phones with the Huawei AppGallery. This brings the app to more users on more platforms. So how do the two versions of this app compare? Let's take a look.
Canva on GMS
Opening the app after a fresh install will bring you to the login screen. Since this app is the GMS version, you have the option to log in with your Google account. You can also log in via email and a few other options.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Once you're in the app, you'll be shown the main page where you can browse templates for different types of social media. It's very easy to get started with new projects and quickly create media that matches your brand or aesthetic.
A premium subscription to the app unlocks a bunch of features. You can pay $12.99 a month, or $119.99 a year for these paid features. There is an option to try Canva Pro for 14 days.
Canva on HMS
To use the HMS version of Canva, you can download it for free from the Huawei AppGallery. Once you launch the app, you'll run into your first glitch which is a result of converting the app from GMS to HMS. A message will appear that says "Canva won't run without Google Play services, which are not supported by your device". This message can be ignored, and you can continue to log in via email. However, the lack of GMS does seem to cause further issues with other features in this app.
Once you are logged in and find yourself on the main screen, you can select a template to start a new project. Unfortunately, this is where the next issue comes up. When trying to create a project from a template, you are shown an error that says "You are offline. We are unable to reach Canva. Please check your network settings and try again."
The last section where you'll run into errors is trying to use the premium subscription service. This requires GMS to manage your payments, so it cannot be accessed.
So even though Canva is available on the Huawei AppGallery, the app doesn't seem ready for HMS users. Hopefully, updates in the future will fix this.

Flapp on HMS Vs. GMSFlapp is a very capable travel app, that will help you find hotels, flights, car rentals, or bus routes. It's an all-in-one solution for making your travel plans much easier. Explorer new places to visit, or track your current planned trips. The app is available for free on the Google Play store for anyone with a GMS phone. Users that have an HMS phone can get the app from the Huawei AppGallery. The two different apps have quite a few differences, so let's take a look at how Flapp took advantage of HMS Core development, to bring the app to Huawei users.Flapp on GMSTo set up your Flapp account, you can use your Google or Facebook account. The GMS version of this app opens to the explore page. From this page, you can see exclusive deals and important travel info. At the top, you have options to look for flights, hotels, car rentals, and busses. The bottom of the explore page has more navigation to access trip data, favorites, and your personal profile.

More features can be accessed through the menu in the top left. This will bring you to some useful tools like Currency and Country selection.Flapp on HMSThe HMS version of this app has been redesigned from the ground up. To set up your account, you will be able to use Facebook or Twitter. Google is not available due to the lack of GMS, but other social media logins aren't affected.Instead of opening the app to the explore page, you will see the flight search page. Car rentals are also available from the "more" menu. Many of the features from the GMS version of this app are missing, like bus routes. There is a section for hotel searches, but that results in a "page not found" error.
The flights section works well on the HMS version of this app. If you want to use it as your all-in-one travel app, you'll probably want to wait until some of the current bugs are worked out.

Very interesting.
its very interesting, how can we handle the support plugins like google map API, HMS MAP API etc..
can you explain.
So, I am intrigued by the fact that all of these HUAWEI related posts are linked to a give away contest for a Google Pixel phone
