Adds a configurable Energy Ring around the camera lens indicating current Battery level. Dive into the various configuration options, not only you can quickly glance and get the battery info but, Energy Ring adds an accent to your phone's camera lens.
Got a full charge? The Ring will be a 360 degree wrap around the front camera lens.
Battery depleting? So will the arc of Energy Ring.
Out of the box features:-
✓ Energy Ring can be configured from a width of 1 pixel to a donut thick ring
✓ Energy Ring puts almost 0% load on CPU, as it wakes up only to reflect any change in battery level
✓ Energy Ring's direction can be configured as clockwise/bidirectional/anti-clockwise
✓ Energy Ring can hide on fullscreen content (apps, videos, images, games etc)
✓ Energy Ring can be configured to change colors automatically depending on the live battery level
✓ Energy Ring could have a mono color/multiple color segments/gradient (pro)
✓ You can literally assign any color in the world for your favorite configuration
✓ Energy Ring has a number of cool animations whenever a power source is plugged into your device
All that is cool! But what about Energy Ring consuming Battery?!
This is one of the most exciting question for me to answer. Energy Ring more than anything understands that you need to utilize your battery efficiently (after all, that's why you installed the App, right? .) Energy Ring sits on the screen silently putting almost 0% load on CPU, if battery level changes, Android wakes up Energy Ring. Once awake, Energy Ring quickly updates itself and goes back to sleep. And to be that extra efficient, the Ring goes on deep sleep when you turn off the screen, meaning it doesn't even read changes in battery level when the screen is off.
Accessibility Service Requirement:
Android requires Energy Ring to run as an Accessibility Service, to be able to display on Lock Screen. It does not read/monitor any data, whatsoever. This is especially useful for people who have disability to read numbers and work better with visual data.

Found out about this app today and I absolutely LOVE it! I left a 5 star in the google play store for you
Just one quick question, what does transparent background do? I have checked and unchecked it and went through some of my apps but I can't tell what it does...

Been using this for a few months now on my 4a works like a charm. Make sure you kill battery optimization or it'll get killed by the system trying to save power. It uses next to no CPU/resources. Def. a 5 star app. Setting up the power levels for each color can be a little tricky...no big deal tho.

I like it! Thanks for putting in the time to make this work on so many devices.
Is there a way to remove the native Android battery indicator from the notification bar?

oh yeah i think it's hidden by default and the method to unhide it has varied over the years. there are a couple different ways on android 12 by the looks (i'm on beta 3) but imo the easiest is just to install this guy:
System UI Tuner - Apps on Google Play
Shortcut to the hidden System UI Tuner tool in Android 9 and newer.
play.google.com
that will just direct you straight to the menu.

The positioning is real close, good enough for me.
My screenshots don't show it, but, it is ever so slightly off-center, high at the 10:00 position.
Just a BTW/question :
I typically use the hide the cutout option in display settings.
In that mode, the ring light actually sits right below the camera cutout, resting atop the clock (clock still visible,an overlay by the ring).
Is this normal/limitation due to hiding the cutout?
To me, it's perfectly acceptable, it's not as if I'm not going to check my notifications, the app is doing its job, replacing the notification LED.
---------- Post added at 11:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:23 AM ----------
@Jawomo
Tweaked the X/Y axis position on the camera ring:
X:4
Y:5
Left the size in X&Y as-is.
That puts it perfectly centered.

As the LED is display on screen it consumes more energy like a single LED. But you wont let the light be active for hours, normally you check the device every hour at least.. so it wont consume that much battery.
But we can get some cool animations or fullscreen edge lighting, so for me its ok. When an AOD is released by OnePlus it will get lower hopefully.

Definitely don't want to turn this thread into a battery life thread, but, just posting to show that it's not running down the battery in the background.

I've just downloaded this to try it out. Is there a 'test' mode where I can see what it's going to look like? Nothing is shown on the screen at the moment. I'm running 10.5.7 (UK).

2 - Install the .apk with adb (tutorial on the third post)
3 - Start the app
4 - Grant the Location permission (optional but recommended, if you want the automatic calibration)
Done!
Update instructions
If you want to update this app to a newer version, uninstall the old version and then install the latest using ADB!
Detailed info about the app
Every 5 minutes a the app will get the pressure from the sensor and store the data.
The weather notification is sent if 4 hPa are dropped in the past three hours.
The trend seen in the barometer is calculated in the past 6 hours.
For the first 6 hours the trend is going to be inaccurate because it doesn't have real data to compare.
Altitude is measured using the barometric formula, considering standard the pressure of 1013.25 hPa.
Issues
Automatic calibration not working on Samsung watches. I don't have a watch to test and I can't fix this bug unfortunally.

Auto calibration of altitude - explanation of the physics
I think this is cool to share
Air pressure depends on your altitude, but since air pressure changes normally, the readings are not accurate if the instrument is not correctly calibrated.
Manual calibration can be done... but it's just not practical! Automatic calibration is instead much better.
Let's start with the barometric formula:
Ph = P0 × e^(-α × h)
with constant α = (M × g) / (R × T)
The app gets your location, then finds thanks to the weather API the pressure P0 at sea level.
Once found P0, I can substitute it in the same formula to finally find the actual calibrated altitude
h = ln(Ph / P0) / - α
Ph is now the reading from the sensor and h is the current altitude
The calibration of the altitude highly depends on how accurate are the weather forecast provided...
From my testing I had a +- 10 m which is considerably good, but it depends from place to place.
ADB Tutorial
1) You will need to install ADB drivers to your computer. Suggested tutorial --> [OFFICIAL][TOOL][WINDOWS] ADB, Fastboot and Drivers - 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.4.3 | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com)
Assuming you are using Windows, you should find a folder named "adb" inside the C drive with some files in it.
2) Place inside this folder the apk you want to install.
3) Enable "USB Debugging" on the device you want to install the apk on. This setting is hidden inside the "Developer Settings", that you can enable by pressing 7 times on the "Build Number" under "Device Info". There are many videos that show this.
4) Open the command prompt inside the "adb" folder. To do so using Windows, just press Shift + Right Click of the mouse and then select "Open PowerShell Window".
5) Connect your smartwatch to the PC with the usb cable.
6) On the PowerShell type "adb devices" without quotes and confirm with enter. Make sure the android device shows a message.
7) On the device press "Allow always" (or something like that).
8) On the PowerShell type "adb install Alti-Barometer1.15.apk" without quotes and confirm with enter.
DONE!

This project's purpose is to replicate almost identically both in terms of UI and functionality the Samsung Alti-barometer app, which is preinstalled on Samsung smartwatches.
This is the app I'm talking about -> https://galaxystore.samsung.com/geardetail/com.samsung.alti-barometer
I don't understand what you mean by beep sound (what's the beep for?) and location icon (you mean that the app should display an icon when it gets the location?), especially because I don't think the original app has these features.
Final Update
The latest update features a new UI for the tile.

1) Click on tile added
2) I managed to fix that.
NOTE: Your issue might also be related to always on. If you have always on disabled, after some seconds the display will lock. With this fix, if you turn your wrist (or click a button, or touch the screen), the app will return visible instead of showing the clock.
If you have always on enabled... No issues either because always on is supported and the app will keep open.
3) That's because the tile does not show real time data, while the app does.
This app collects data in the background every five minutes. This data serves for: pressure trend, notification alert and graphs. The value you see in the altimeter and barometer page are instead real time data, polled and computed instantly.
The tile shows the last collected data from the background service so what you see in the tile is at worst five minutes old.
It's not beneficial for battery life to have high refresh rate tiles... and for that there's the application!

This is strange cause I didn't change anything on the background service from last update.
If you followed the installation instructions from original post I'll suggest try checking again these things:
1) Go to "Settings" > "Apps & Notifications" > "App info" > "Alti-Barometer" > "Permissions" and make sure that "Location" is enabled
2) watch has to be connected to the internet, it doesn't matter if through WiFi, through 4G or trough your phone's bluetooth (so no airplane mode)
3) watch's location can depend on phone's location. Try checking if both are active in the settings (but I assume they both are because it worked for you yesterday)
4) as a last step I'll suggest to reboot... Most of the times that solves any issues
Keep in mind calibration is set every 4 hours so if one of these actually solved your problem you'll notice it after some time!
If it still doesn't work let me know because it is strange
Storm Warning Notification is OK.
we have 7 day Weather Forecast, During 3 – 5 Aug, people in the whole country should beware of severe conditions and stay tuned for the weather update. All ships should proceed with caution and should keep ashore including keeping away from thundershower bra bra bra...
and I 've trid to clean new installation hope auto calibration work again.

I'll definitely have to check what's going on... However one thing that bothers me is that from the weather provider portal I can see that today were made 2 API requests... So somebody has this feature working. I'll dig more and update you if I find something. Also the fact that currently I don't have a phisical watch to test it apart from the emulator doesn't help
finally calibrated by V1.7 , after 4 hrs of Clean install . But don't known why minus altitude value.

Last calibrated was at 18:10 and the altitude +8 m should be more or less correct I guess. What happened in your case is that air pressure in your location increased as happens naturally during the day, tricking the altimeter to think that you went lower on altitude. Probably what's going to happen at 22:10 is a new calibration that should show accurate altitude. From my side I can't do anything about this, It has to do on how accurate the weather API are in your location and on how the pressure changes throughout the day. In days where air pressure is pretty stationary you won't notice it
Consider the altimeter value with a precision of 10 meters on raw value. Delta value (like if you want to measure how tall a building is) are precise instead!
News on the automatic calibration bug
I tested the app with the emulator and managed to fix that issue.
I'll try to explain what the problem was.
This app doesn't use real time GPS for location, it uses instead the so called "coarse location", that is based on cellular towers. The reasons are simple: the app doesn't need the metric precision given by the GPS, and "coarse location" is much less energy consuming.
Right after every reboot, the system location is a "null" value, meaning it is not usable for my app. At this stage the app couldn't calibrate the altimeter.
Then after approximately half an hour, the system location started giving usable values for the app and after that moment the calibration worked every single time.
So in conclusion, after a reboot, the app wants to calibrate the altimeter, but until the system location is not "null", it won't and there's no guarantee that the system will update it soon.
Solving this issue was pretty easy: I had to manually refresh the location right when needed.
Now it should work as expected.
By the way I moved the download link directly to xda attachments
At the time of the edit of this post I just reuploaded ver 1.8... I forgot to replace one thing I used on the debugging phase
I have found another bug. If the location takes a lot of time to be collected (which might happen), the background service will lock, showing a constant notification that is impossible to dismiss... This is not a normal behaviour and I will make a fix hoping that it will be the last.

The position of the light around the camera cutout may not be accurate in this beta.
Position can be adjusted in Notification light > Size & position > fine tuning section in the app.
Very nice! Already installed yesterday, when it was only on the Pixel 5 forums. Will use for a few days and report battery usage.
(Since the default ring position is not adjusted to the camera, I adjusted manually. Y offset 60 and X/Y size at -52 seems to be fine)
@go_roy
Thanks for the feedback. Theres an update on the way fixing position and some other issues.
You can set position offset to 0 on next release then.
Trying to optimize as soon as i get my Pixel.
The new beta is online. Positions around camera should be correct now.
You may have to reset the position offsets to 0 after the update.
Any feedback about camera positions is appreciated! Enjoy!
Lookign good so far, thanks for your efforts. Description says it hides the fingerprint icon, which is something I really want .. but can't see how to do this? Any help much appreciated. Cheers.

Excellent, thank you.
Nice app! I have bought it. It works really well on a Redmi Note 10 Pro too. I'll use it on that while I wait for my pixel 6 to arrive after DPD UK have lost it...
Really nice app. Cant believe this is not build in.
Can you post the APK file as well for those without Google Play Store access? Thanks for the awesome app!
Edit: just bought the pro version to be able to customize east apps color! This app is sweet!
Seems like a great app so I had no choice but to buy you more coffee
Thank you @Jawomo for a superb app, let's hope that the battery claims are as good as the app is already.
has the option for the screen edge LED been removed?
@Cnsxskillz1
Currently yes. Theres a bug in android 12.
Still looking for a workaround
@Jawomo great app, bought premium right away.
One thing I would find cool is if the notification dot could move around the screen a bit to reduce burnin. Like have a slider for how much the dot moves around the screen.

Thanks! Had this once and people complained that the dot moves in unwanted regions. As it blinks burn in should not be a problem. Maybe ill readd this sometime in future

Cool good to know.
Does the app support "pocket detection"? So it doesn't to off when the proximity sensors goes off?
I love this idea, my Moto phone had this and it was great. Now, with the way always on is handled I keep my phone face down mostly. Can this be used on the rear of the phone?
Is there any way to enable edge lighting for notifications on this app? instead of notification dot or around the camera glow... I don't see it in my options and I have the pro version

Detailed info I found on Google for the app:
What is the lib patcher?Libpatcher - is a custom setting where you can set all the settings to your liking
Radius Temporal changes the graininess of the image by affecting noise, the higher the image is more blurry and less noise, the lower the more noisy, but more detail
Tone Curve is where you can adjust dark points, white points, shadows, highlights. It is recommended to enable and leave the default values or tweak them (advanced users)
Sharpness allows you to control the sharpness of the image. Zoom in for low-light shots, and zoom out for selfies.
Luminance Noise Reduction is what controls the “graininess” in images caused by high ISO. Decrease it to get more detail at the expense of high noise, or increase it if the noise is unacceptable to you
Color Noise Reduction: Controls color spots. There is usually no need to adjust it as this will not improve the quality, but you can increase it slightly if you see colored spots in the dark. Too much chroma noise can cause a decrease in saturation. Also known as color noise. Be careful with this setting it can mess with the fine details of an image.
Contrast settings allow you to control the contrast of the image. Increase it if you want darker shadows, and decrease it to make it brighter is the general idea. This is again a personal preference
Saturation is what allows you to control the saturation of the image. Increase it if you want more saturated colors in your photos. Obviously decrease if your HDR is getting too saturated. This is again a personal preference
Now there are some advanced settings. These affect the morphological processing. Naturally thats a very basic overview. I took the course while finishing up my engineering degree. It was difficult stuff past the basic level. I wont get into what these settings do beyond a decent generalization.
Warning to all these settings can absolutely have a drastic negative effect on your images. A lot of testing would be necessary by the end userLuminance noise reduction levels
Level 1 (Detail) changes the photo very slightly, slightly smoothing out small elements in the image.
Level 2 (Rough Surfaces) seriously alters the image by smoothing grain
Level 3 (Edges) doesn’t change much. Smooths edges slightly
Level 4 (Smooth Surfaces) radically alters the image by making it posterized by smoothing out large areas of the same color. Avoid magnification over 1.0
Color noise reduction levels
Level 1 (Detail) fine textures, but the same applies to rough details
Level 2 (Rough surfaces) fine textures, but the same applies to rough details
Level 3 (Edges) Edges are mainly defined by the contrast between one object and another
Level 4 (Smooth Surfaces) Smooth surfaces are generally uniform areas of the image. Like wallpaper with few small details
Tips:If you notice a certain color of spots on your low light photos. Check its frequency spectrum. Look where its at in the photo and go to the specific wavelet reduction setting and tweak it. See if you can remove it. More often than not these settings are used to improve astrophotography, low light and high detail images.
My sensor has more higher frequency color noise than others. Ive seen some XDA users where they had to turn down denoise. It really all depends on a lot of stuff. Its fun to tweak and squeeze out what you can.
YMMVWill post occasional pics displaying some of the modded apps performance on occasionWhy didnt your wavelet settings work for me
Factors that affect settings
Your phone
When it was made
The chip itself
The silicon in your sensor
Ambient weather conditions
The image processing firmware on the Pixel Visual Core
Other properties of silicon unique and intrinsic to your device
FAQWhy are your colors listed as frequencies?
Light is an electromagnetic phenomenon and as an RF engineer its easier for me to refer to spectra as a frequency but one could easily refer to it in wavelengths or color (but color wont be accurate as thats up to perception)
What are wavelets?
A wavelet is how we define a center frequency and some deviation. We use wavelets because a color is not just one frequency its a range see here : Spectral color - Wikipedia 10 Its also an entire subset of mathematics used by anyone who works with the spectrum (i.e RF engineers, optical engineers (fiber stuff), biomedical engineers). They are helpful because we can take the average of a color spectrum (say blues) and convolve it with the signal to find the center frequency of blue or the blues in a subset (image). It basically the magic behind the IM processing math.

Just tried a sample of my night time “light bleed” mode and its okay. It still need more tweaking but heres an example of what tweaking your denoise settings can do. The image is far better than a stand night photograph (even with some longer exposure)
Keep in mind you wont remove all the noise. In fact it sometimes takes noise to remove or smooth noise (dithering). Dithering is a process where we add a bit of noise to a data set in an attempt to constructively perturb the signals we want to convolve, isolate and amplify over the average.

I don't seem to be able to associate gcam with the power button shortcut - it always opens the original camera app (or nothing if I disable that one) - what do I need to do?

Unfortunately that's the limitation of the phone, I'm unable to get the modified GCam to work with the power button shortcut either. See attachment there is a Nova Launcher Paid gesture to quickly bring up any app if on the home screen. It's not only this app it can be any one you choose.

All praise goes to the creator and those that put all the hard work on creating it for us. I'm glad you have enjoyed using it.
I forgot exactly where on here I read and applied these settings via lib patcher, but with these settings, detail is far greater preserved than stock cam. there is a bit of noise but the detail preserved is worth it to me. the over the top denoise and sharpening is really evident on pets. give these settings a shot and lemme know if you can figure out how to preserve the detail with less noise!
first pic stock. 2nd gcam w settings posted previous to this post.. heavy noise and detail loss on stock. lil bit more noise but much greater detail preservation.
Can someone explain to me how to restore a xml i saved earlier? Thanks

Stock looks better. Too much noise on other.
even in great lighting situations, the stock cam denoises so much and loses so much detail in post processing.. for me, the little extra noise in low light is well worth it. I'm trying to find some pics of another dog outside and it's really evident how much post processing stock gcam has regardless of available light, but I may take more later. you can always play with the lib patcher to increase/decrease post processing
I have tried to increase the details to the max, and the mod does exactly what it is supposed to do, increases details and increases noise
It is now time to look for the best compromise. But I think the Google denoising algorithm is not so bad, I have seen far worth on Huawei phones
Why on my stock Pixel 6 the lib patcher options don't show up? It needs root?

Sorry it's completely my fault, I installed the wrong mod now it works except for the faces based autofocus which crash the app. Any workaround for this?
I got it to become the sorta default camera. I copied all the files from the new gcam into the original gcams app folder meaning install new gcam and then copy it's contents over. I
made a backup of the stock camera and opening stock apk now is the new gcam. I am trying to get self illumination working on the face unlock app lol haven't been able to get tnsg working yet. Edit I removed the gcam because face unlock app was messing up.

if you're taking photos of stationary objects, I find the best results paired w the mods I posted earlier, and changing the max amt of frames HDR Enhanced mode uses to 25. then use HDR enhanced as opposed to just HDR+. takes a second to capture won't work well with moving objects but takes a lot of noise out
I tried with Nyolsson's settings and it is a very nice compromise

120 hz works with psm but 96 didnt worked
Hello. Is it possible to transfer the license from my Fold4 to S23 Ultra? Will I have to buy Premium again?
So 1Hz is still a gimmick from Samsung? Or is it possible to achieve?

Your brightness maybe too low. Try increasing screen brightness a bit. 96Hz usually has a little bit higher brightness threshhold to avoid visible flickers when refresh rate switches. This is set in the device by the OEM depending on the display calibration. This threshold can not be overrridden by an app.

Based on the refresh rates read from the device, 10Hz is the lowest.

Tribal, don't think I remember the reason, but why does the app only allow it to go as low as 10hz, when the displays have been rated for 120-1hz?
Shouldn't it be able to go down to 1hz?

The app just read the available refresh rates that's provided by the device system configuration and just use what's available. 10Hz is the lowest refresh rate available. I don't know exactly why 1Hz is not available. Could be that it's not enabled or samsung could be referring to a different definition of refresh rate for the 1Hz rating - a sort of surface buffer optimization.
I have the feeling that when I set the frequency to 10 min and 120 max, the device starts to jerk. (at the moment when it jumps from 10 to 120 Hz).
Can anyone share the same experience?
Edit:
The problem still exists...
Quick question by the way, what exactly does the "Brightness Threshold" option do? So how far does it affect the Hz?

Unfortunately not and I'm bummed, as I wasn't planning to replace my S21ULTRA (a dumbass dropped a knife on my screen...) and bought the app only 2 months ago.
TBH, this should be like any app you buy from the app store: transferable.
Maybe that's why it's not in the Google play store
Not ready to pay again, looks like the battery improvement is significant enough to render the app less useful than before. Don't get me wrong, still an excellent job, Samsung should pay attention.

If I'm guessing right, the fact that it's not on the store is more about the Android version targeted by the app itself (to access some permissions).
The reason is explained in FAQ#1.
I'm unable to find in the FAQ or threads a way to RESET all the settings so that I can uninstall the app.
If I don't , I have the same refresh rates as with the app, since now they are written via adb.

One question: can we use adaptive 120hz with powersaver on S23U?
Edit:
Its working without Problems on 5.1 with the Dex workaround
hi everyone,
I have a pure technical question.
not only about this application but in general.
if i install an application and then i run the command:
adb shell pm grant _application name_ android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
#1. what are the chances of having this new application steal personal information from the phone?
#2. what exactly this command do?
#3. can this application "read" users and passwords and then send them out of the phone?
I mention that after i ran this command i disabled usb debug from developers.
thank you and don't blame me for this questions.
