This method is specifically for Samsung Galaxy. Because the default hiddennetwork system application is available. for devices with other brands and types, I haven't tried it.
Please follow the following methods:
1.
You need to install this app for FREE
at Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
galaxy store: https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
2. Run the Application
3. Select SIM 1 Only menu, then Hidden Activity
4. wait to load until 100%
5. tap the search box type Hiddennetwork
6. In the call setting section, there is a hiddennetwork activity.
7. Long Tap 3 options will appear: Create Shortcut, Launch Activity, Edit Shortcut. I recommend Select Create Shortcut to make it easier for us to enter network activity mode without having to bother opening the Force 4G LTE Only 2020 Pro application.
8. Please select Launch Activity to enter the system Network Mode to select network mode.
9. tap the three-line menu in the left corner. select Band Selection to lock LTE band. please select a frequency band then slide the toggle selection to activate it.

Can this app also make the phone prefer a certain band above other bands?
For example, at my house the phone switches alot between band20 and band3, can I make the phone prefer band20 over band3 so that it doesn't constantly switch?

You can't change priority... try it out, you can choose the bands you want and then it will select among that group.
Anyway, it's nice on sprint to test out the tmo bands... which suck where I live lol
It seems like the app has been removed from both the Google play store and the galaxy store
You can use "Samsung Band Selection" on Play Store
This latest update on tmobile/sprint g991u, CVF3 got rid of that function.... Aholes!
Samsung band selection or making the shortcut to the hidden setting app which does the same thing doesn't work.
Dialer codes don't work either
Also bixby routines used to be able to force lte but now it doesn't work. These jagoffs are trying to force 5g, which in my area is slower than lte.
Ugh , I hate how these carriers and Samsung just remove functionality as they please....
Now I'm thinking to roll back with odin as bl is still v5
Or maybe i should put u1 firmware, it might not get the authoritarian updates that carriers push
Btw, You can disable updates by using adb to disable com.wssyncmldm
With latest security update, this option is hidden and the changes could not be reverted back. Any idea to get to normal.

Are you on U or u1? June update cvf and above removed the option.
Cvd from May is the latest update on s21 that works.
So I switched to that one using odin to flash it.
Make a backup with smart switch first because for me I could not keep user data, it claimed corruption.
Afterwords use adbappcontrol
To disable updates by disabling "com.wssyncmldm" app.
Has anyone tried this going from Sprint to the TNX SIM?

I went from Sprint to T-Mobile sim. Either one allowed me to change lte bands until the June cvf update.
The activity is no longer part of the dialer app in June or July updates.
This is using "activity launcher" from play store.

I'm guessing the activity you circled does not show up in the cvf update? Cause that is the correct activity to access the menu. This really sucks. I wonder if I can decompile the activity and see what it does when you toggle the switch at the top. Might be able to re-create it possibly. Not sure what permissions and restrictions are in it.

Yeah, it's like when oneui 4 removed dialer codes, now this...
I uploaded cvdb may version of the app from tmobile U firmware
Maybe you can install this one on top or extract the activity?
I tried to rename the package name and app name but installing gives me an error that it's already installed. Usually renaming lets me clone an app ..
(Also tried app cloner, it installed but I couldn't access the cloned app's activities)

Thanks.
It definitely seems like the functionality should stil be there - ie if another app calls the same parameters, it should work. Seems like they just removed the activity, but the firmware/modem still has the ability to do so. I have no idea why they would remove this. Like how horrible it is for their end user to be able to select the LTE/5G band that gives them the best service...
And you prolly can't simply install the other one next to the current one without some serious modding to the app. You would have to rename not only the package name that is in the manifest, but also the package name inside the source code, otherwise you get conflicting classes. I am not sure how app cloner does their cloning, but that is probably why you couldn't see the activity.

Does *#2263# give you the menu to select bands for each SIM slot? I found this today, but am using the may update
Hello, there is a solution!!! But only if the device is rooted. If you download this.: ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher )Inside the application, search for.: (com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity) And create a shortcut as Root.
Anyone with the latest Android 13 update have the ability to change bands without root using the original app?
If not does *#2263# give you the menu to select bands for each SIM slot?
This is another way to choose LTE bands but a little annoying.
In another thread, someone using Android 13 couldn't even use the dialer code. Freaking Samsung bending over for the carriers by locking down power settings...
Remember folks, you can roll back to the may cvdb update and get back the ability to choose bands with the app or the dialer code.
Don't wait until your revision 5 ( u5) becomes 6 and locks you out of previous versions!! Also remember to adb disable the update app

2. The Hidden Menu
There are a number of tweaks that can be done in the hidden menu. DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for anything you do to your device. The hidden menu is hidden for obvious reasons!
To enter it, type one of the following codes in the dialer:
3845#*801# (for T-Mobile variants)
3845#*803# (for AT&T and Canadian variants)
3845#*802# (for European variants)
3845#*800# (for At&T model)
The tweaks you can do here, are amongst others, changing Fast Dormancy mode and disabling LG MLT. You can also disable Temperature throttling which fixes camera lag and fixes lags in general but I would not recommend it. LG left it off for a reason, don't you think?.
What is Fast Dormancy mode? Read more about it here: http://www.androidnz.net/2012/06/at-your-own-risk-how-to-disable-fast.html
Basically if your carrier doesn't have it and your phone has it enabled, an unnecessary drain will occur (sometimes even keeping the phone awake which can be seen as wakelocks). If you have disabled it but your carrier has it on their network a battery drain will also occur, therefore consult your carrier whether they support Fast Dormancy Mode or not.
By default, it was "unknown" on my D802.
I disabled it by going into the hidden menu as stated above, and go into settings > FastDormancy. There you can change it to either Enabled or Disabled in accordance with the settings of your carrier.
- LG MLT
In the hidden menu, scroll down to LG MLT. Disable it by unchecking the "Enable" box. Reboot your device.
You will notice that you have more free ram and battery life will be improved a bit.
3. Disable Knock-on
This is the sad truth - one of the most beloved features of the phone is to double tap to wake it. But when you need more juice, it can be a good idea to disable it as it usually accounts for 7-10% of the battery drain. It's not a big deal if you are home or have a charger within reach, but disabling this awesome feature can actually give you about 1 hour extra of screen on time and the idle drain is noticable lower.
Disable this by going into settings > general > gestures and disable it by unchecking the box.
4. Force close Android system (may/may not work)
This tip is not widely known and doesn't work for everybody, but force closing the android system after each reboot can make the Android System consumption a good bit smaller. Do this by going into settings > general > apps > all > android system > force close. It will start up immediately after and it will not harm your phone.
5. Kill'em wakelocks!
I don't know who you are. But I will find you. And I will kill you.
Click to collapse
To find those pesky apps keeping your phone awake, download Better Battery Stats from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
And either GSam Battery Monitor from Google Play or Wakelock Detector from Google Play. It will show you what apps have been keeping your phone awake when you put it to sleep.
6. Disable location services from Google
To disable this, do the following: Apps > Google Settings > Location > uncheck Access location
You can also disable Android Device Manager for a bit extra juice.
7. Auto-sync only what you really, really need
Auto-Sync kills battery. Period. Make up your mind, do you really have to be notified whenever an email arrives, or can you wait until you have time to check for new e-mails? If you can, you can also save a bit of battery. Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber and other apps that require you to be online at all times do kill battery as well. It can be managed a bit by installing
8. 2x Battery
Intelligently manages your internet connection by disabling it after you lock your device, and enables it for 2 minutes every 15 minutes to check for new messages and so on. The only downside is that there will be a delay receiving whatsapps and viber calls. This can be disabled easily if you are waiting for someone to call/message you. The app can be found on Google Play. I personally found a negligible increase in battery life using the application.
9. Remove Rogue Apps
Believe it or not - some apps can cause a battery drain even if you don't use them at all! Make sure you delete the apps you no longer use and if you notice a decrease in battery life after installing an app, try uninstalling it and see if the battery life is better.
A Note about Wakelock Detectors and Better Battery Stats in 4.4.2 KitKat
Chances are you have updated to 4.4 kitkat by now. The problem with KitKat is, that you are no longer able to see the details about what is draining your battery. Therefore you need to manually check for rogue apps (and that may occasionally require you to delete apps you like) and find better alternatives.
CarrierIQ - US CARRIERS ONLY
Want your carrier to earn money selling information about you? No, do you?
To disable this, do the following (Credits go to burningembers):
Install System Tuner from Google Play store.
Click the red System Android, click Android System, Details, then uncheck all 7 CarrierIQ related processes.
This list is not complete. If you have any additions, please post them here and I will update this thread!

Well, I would try to enable it, reboot, see if your phone drains fast, if it does, your carrier doesn't support it
Some people talking about it around on these forums too, but I haven't been able to use their methods, maybe it's cuz I'm in Denmark.
I forgot where, but you can probably find the thread if you search for fast dormancy they used some code: *#0011# to check for an rrc status if I remember correctly (doesn't do anything when I try to call that, even in WDCMA only mode). But try either of those two suggestions They said tmobile in Croatia didn't have fast dormancy.

Why? These tips are non-destructive and reversible, so if you do manage to mess something up, you can revert it to its default state.

Answer to facebook services on Andriod
I recently upgraded to the Galaxy S6, and wanted to remove any of the bloatware on the device. I disabled the FB app first, since I don't use it on any of my mobile devices. I then came across the com.facebook.appmanager and com.facebook.system applications listed under the application manager on the device. I first stopped and uninstalled the two apps, but I found that they both will update on their own over wi-fi once it's connected. I can't disable the two apps as that option is greyed out. I believe the answer to this is in the permissions of the appmanager stating that it may
1: Download files without notification
2: full network access
3: run at startup
Curiously after I have attempted to kill the app on any occasion that I'm using the device, I received an email from FB stating that they're sorry that I'm having trouble getting into my account. So, in conclusion, the apps must be gathering data (at least all configured email accounts) from the device and sending it to FB. Once FB identifies that an email address on the device matches an email account in their database, it sends the email. Looks like my next step is to root the device.

Facebook wont self update anymore
And com.facebook.system
Same problem
I tried app called package disabler pro. There i searched for all com.facebook app/processes and disabled them. Now i dont see them any more in my process list in setting. The app costs littlebit but if it doesnt work, you can ask for you money back. It can also disable almost any bloatware.

Hi,
If you're not rooted, just disable it. From my experience, it has something to do with Facebook auto update. I personally doesn't use the Facebook apk itself, I once disable it but it later come back with latest version installed. So you are fine to disable com.facebook.appmanager. However, if you're rooted, better not to uninstall these Facebook related services/apk. Again, from my experience, I might be WRONG, I once uninstall them completely, my air wake up (waking up the phone by hover over your proximity sensor) doesn't work anymore.
Conclusion: you can disable them just fine.
With Fake GPS & Joystick for PokemonGO, you can set your phone location or teleport to anywhere in the world with just one click. If you really want to 'Catch them all' while sitting at home this app is for you. Awesomeness Includes:
--> Find or map or enter an address of the location to set your location. Imagine playing Pokemon Go from banned countries while this fake gps app mocks your location to be in New York.
--> An overlay Joystick that hover over other apps, which could be used to navigate in any direction.
--> Evade from fake location detection from apps like Pokemon Go and Ingress through our super cool algorithm.
--> Use static notification to toggle joystick on/off on the go.
Procedure To Be Awesome:
1. It is needed that you turn on "Allow Mock Locations" on Development Settings
2. Don´t forget to disable "Use wireless networks" options in Location settings in order to avoid a problem where you will keep receiving fake locations even after stopping Fake GPS.
3. Make sure you run Fake GPS first before running your app.
4. Tap on Joystick button, which provides a joystick overlay which will be hovering over Pokemon GO kind of apps.
5. Caution: Keep the speed slower while using Joystick.
Installation instructions
Requirements:
1. Rooted Android devices
2. Xposed Framework installed
Steps:
1. Install the app and open Xposed Installer & enable PokemonGo Joystick.
2. Reboot & open Developer options and enable "Allow Mock Locations".
3. Select the initial location on the map and click 'Fix It' button.
4. Open Joystick & go to Pokemon Go app.
5. As soon as the app opens, drag the joystick in a jerky manner. This makes the app to sense, its the signals from real GPS.
6. Enjoy the HACK, but don't simulate run with a joystick.
I don't take any responsibilities for any ban/after-effects.

I having trouble getting this to work with marshmallow. I get the following:
Marshmallow: Wait for the location to set & turn on Mock Location setting in Developer options.
I have this app set as the mock location app in developer section and it is whitelisted in the xposed.

In Marshmallow, there is no proper way the app can sense mock location. It can be obtained only from the loading the location from the GPS for the first time.
So Open the app --> Turn on GPS --> Wait till the Current location marker is visible on the map --> Click Joystick! Tadaa, it will be there.
Added a work-around now in 1.06version build. Kindly keep Draw over other apps permission + Mock Location & Mock Location permissions turned on for the app.
Thanks for reporting. Cheer!
Cant use app always showing i need to set mock in marshmallow to fix and to opwn joystick
Not working, keeps saying that o can't go further with out enabling mock locations..... But I have it selected as the mock locations app.

I have made a fix for it. Before you open MapActivity you should turn on Mock Location and Press Start or else App is going to crash and in Whitelisting is to Whitelist the Pokemon app. PokemonGo Joystick + Fake GPS

Have you Whitelisted or Blacklisted the PokemonGo Joystick + Fake GPS app?
I whitelisted the pokemon go app and your app but still getting that it should activating the mock location option in developer options but it's already activated. Don't know how to fix it, using nexus 6p marshmallow.

Seems working right now after update.
I whitelisted Pokemon Go but Google Map still showed me on faked location. Is it not possible to make Google Map ignore the fake location?
Some problems I found is when I opened joystick, the compass button at the up-right corner is unable to press to change the view,

Not sure I understand,
OK so your installed (version 1.06 can not see a newer version)
Enabled in xposed
Phone rebooted to ensure its loaded
Settings on phone, your app set to the mock locations app
Load up your app, wait for GPS to get a lock
Now clicking either fix or Joystick gives me a message "you must enable mock locations" clicking yes (the only button) takes me to the developer settings where I can see your app is still set as mock locations app..... I just can not get past this bit.
(not got as far as loading ingress)
It can't start pokemon go app says Failed to detect locations
Nice app, works well
the only thing I had an issue with is Whitelist would not work. No matter what I tried, poke could not detect location.
But when used with another xposed module, hide mock location, it detects the fake location just fine
...thanks for your hard work
After I used this module, I restarted the app, and found my self stuck in an abandoned location, and the character can't even move around, nothing near me except of a road far away, I tried fixing it but nothing would work, I used my real location, and fixed other locations, reinstalled the Pokemon go app... But nothing, now it's still like this from yesterday, stuck in that abandoned location. Idk if it's a ban or something else
Anyone knows what to do??!
Edit : I reinstalled xposed framework and It got fixed
The Pokemon Go seems keep showing fail to detect locations, can you solve it?
Sent from my ASUS_Z00A using XDA Labs
Used 1.07, worked fine yay
But then got this
Ingress is the game before Pokemon, same engine, same devs, same anti cheat. So a ban here is likely to be a ban on Pokemon (will test that theory)
Did not move out of the city I'm in (the Joystick moved me in tiny jolts on ingress not smooth movements like it's test map) did not move impossibly fast.
Not angry at the ban, it's a risk that's accepted with these tools
Thankyou.
Thankyou very much for this app, i was dying of curiosity because the game was not released on my country yet, now i'm all better
But i have a question, should i white list the pokemon app? Because i didnt do it and it stiil works fine. And also, after a while, mainly when i enter the screen of capturing a pokemon, the controler overlay vanishes, and the message saying that app stoped working pops up. Maybe its lack o RAM? because my device has only 1GB, its a old Galaxy S3.
Again, thankyou very much.
Hey Mate!
Love the work, seems great!
Trying to get it to 100% work and find my location, I've been able to use FakeLocation successfully and catch pokemon elsewhere, but unable to walk around which is why I'm testing this app.
But have removed everything else, followed instructions but still only get failed to find GPS.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - Marshmellow - Rooted / TWRP / Xposed installed & working.
Cheers!
Suddenly my LG V30 stopped being able to be used "hands free" with my voice only after painstaking days getting it just right.
"Ok Google" Or Hey Google" will no longer do the following.
- Read my texts: Now it just says "there aren't any new messages" regardless of if there are new messages or not.
- "Ok Google" will NOT, (this was important for me) bypass the lock screen.
This means that while I am driving, none of the functionality that had me purchase this phone to begin with are still working.
Whatever the case may be, this was all working a couple of weeks ago.
Any ideas to solve this?
Thanks.

What updates do you want to roll back -- apps or stock firmware?
You can flash older versions of stock firmware via LGUP.
You can uninstall apps and reinstall older version from APK Mirror or similar site.
For user apps, you can always choose "uninstall updates". You would want to UNcheck auto update in Google Play for those apps.

Hmmm.. mine will no longer unlock the phone either. However it does let me use OK Google while locked. lf I ask OK Google how to unlock the phone the display says read the instructions provided. However, the settings the instructions show no longer apply to my phone. There is no longer a setting to unlock the phone with voice.
https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/7394306#turn_on?ctx=assistant_answer
Instead it's almost like a Pixel 3... It plainly says Pixel 3 will not let you unlock the phone with your voice. I'm running a magisk module that has some Pixel 3 settings. I wonder if that's the issue? Are you running any Magisk modules?
@TotallyAnxious, any ideas?

It seems to be the OK GOOGLE settings. They no longer show unlock with voice option, like previously.
It seems to be show Pixel 3 type settings, at least for me.

No. My phone is rooted, running stock firmware. Something has changed recently. Don't know what.
Getting the same reports from Reddit LG V30, and Androidforums forums.
Apparently Google discontinued the "Unlock using voice" functionality, and while some people (Like me) say they can see the option in "voice match-unlock with voice match" toggle switch, that the functionality itself is now gone.
This probably happened with the most recent update, and now what I feared and dreaded, has come to pass and that is that I must root this phone and back-patch the software. Both things I haven't done in years.
Lord have mercy on my soul.

Thankfully, ChazzMatt's instructions are EXCELLENT. Just be sure to read them carefully and then perform the process. It's a LONG post, but that's because it's thorough.
I don't think it will fix this issue, but if it does do let us know. Or if you figure out how to fix it another way... I'm guessing it's a Google update...
This begs the question:
Having immigrated from my beloved Motorola Moto X Pure (Had Moto voice controls, and did everything I wanted it to hands free, RIP Motorola under Google) to this great phone, (LG V30, which I researched before buying, and then tooled and manipulated so it could be the hands-free, voice controlled equivalent of my Moto X pure), which phone would best serve my Midrange, 4+GB RAM, all-voice controlled requirements? I mean I bought the phone for specifically this functionality, and now it's gone.
I think am ready to get another phone.

You don't have to root to go back to earlier firmware. To root our phones, we have to temporarily go back to earlier firmware BEFORE we can unlock bootloader and root.
You can revert back to Nougat right now if you want, with unrooted phone.
If you find the version of firmware you want to keep, then you will need some way disabling the OTA process from trying to update you. But let's take one step at a time.
I'm curious when this happened, what version of firmware? Or is Nova app which lost that functionality?

1) Yes, this phone is an excellent replacement for the Motorola phones like Moto X Pure, Droid Turbo, Moto Maxx, Moto Turbo. I had the international version of the Droid Turbo for 3 years, which is why I researched and bought the V30. It's the premium flagship phone Motorola should have released instead of the stupid mods phones.
2) If this is something Google is forcing, with updated firmware/security requirements, wouldn't all phones be affected? If it's something related to only Nova settings (I don't think so) then we can revert Nova and not update.
If it's really, really important to you, then revert back to earlier firmware and earlier Nova.
Or some dev can figure out how to bring that feature back via Magisk mod or something.
Just buying another phone won't do the trick, unless you are proposing to go back to 2013/2014 phones -- which no longer receive updates...

Here you go:
Google begins replacing full 'Voice Match' phone unlock
https://9to5google.com/2019/02/28/google-replacing-voice-match-unlock/
This deprecation of “Unlock with Voice Match” is rolling out via a sever-side update, but we’ve already spotted it with Google app 9.27 (the current stable release) on a Moto Z and a Pixel XL. Other devices we checked with Google app 9.31 have yet to lose the full voice unlock.

Read the article and comments at the bottom. People are figuring out how to revert this. Maybe installing every Google Assistant app then preventing updates?
Good thing google knows what's better for me than I do myself. "ultimately for the better"
The audacity of the language.
OK. I am following your lead Chazzmatt. Later today I am going to root, revert to earlier firmware and nova, and turn off automatic updates.
First I'll get all version information and share it with you.
Thanks for the support.

And here might be another solution.
My issue with the lack of hands-free use is basically centered around my driving, and tasks I have to do at work while on the road.
I am considering getting my favorite old phone a motorola moto x pure,, and the cheapest carrier program I can find, and just using that for when I drive, after making sure they still have Moto voice functionality, and that I can revert to older firmware, nova and google versions. It would only cost around $150, and I'd just use it as a car phone mounted.
What do you think chazzmatt? Would that be easier than doing all this with my LG V30?
THanks.

I just realized, my V30 on stock, rooted VS996 20i is responding to hands free voice commands via "OK Google" and "Hey Google". Note, we also have a Google Home Mini in the house, so that responds too... but the phone lights up and wakes up at the same time. (What's weird is that the phone says "cannot reach google at the moment" while the Mini works as we need it to, to turn lights on/off, etc... not sure what that's about). But, regardless, the phone wakes with the command word... is that what you say you're missing?

Close but not quite.
What happened is that the lock screen (the screen that asks for a 4 to 5-digit pin number, or gesture to unlock the phone) no longer unlocks using the "OK google" or Hey google" command.
this means that while I drive, I can no longer have the safety of "hands free" use while driving.
Thanks!

Yeah, as I said, that IS working for me on VS99620i, rooted. I have no special modules/tweaks. If there's something I can look for, let me know. Again, I do have Google Home installed, so maybe that's what's helping it work, I don't know, but I'm happy to dig deeper.

I believe you're right. I just tried to roll back versions and it temporarily showed that voice unlock option, then it disappeared with a pop-up notice.
I then restored previous version again from Titanium Backup and blocked Google Play from updating without my permission, but the option never showed again even temporarily.
What I have not yet done, and probably useless, is restore TWRP backup...

Hi there,
I want to stay with the latest 11.3.A20 and not upgrade to 12.
The updater remind me few times daily to reboot and upgrade.
Wish to silence this notification, but even more important is to avoid the auto-upgrade after reboot the phone.
I am on rooted with patched magisk boot.img, A20 and want to keep it.
Always worry if will survive the next reboot.
I see the update.zip waiting to screw my setup and want to avoid.
Is there any way to disable / freeze updater? Will this broke the working system?
Any help, will be appreciated.
Thank you.
Android 12, destroyer of worlds...
Either use package disabler or do a adb edit and disable the update app.
There is an option in Developer Options to disable automatic updates. However, I think this only prevents automatic reboot to complete an update, and does not prevent a device from notifying the user and downloading the update package.
Thank you,
I disabled automatic updates but the notification annoys. And every reboot cross fingers to boot properly.
Maybe it's possible to freeze updater without broke the existing system.
For the last few months updates not installs, since detect altered boot.img.
Hope will keep this way.

Kill it. These apps are akin to malware and generally have every permissions under the sun. They can do a end around on you if allowed it to run at boot up.
How to find it and Kill it?
Just tried to disable "Software Updates" package via Titanium Backup but got the notification. Didnt work.
Seems that need to follow another path.
Any suggestion of the name?
Will try to do:
adb shell pm list packages -d
look for suspicious name and
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 <package_to_disable>
This should work.
Thanks!
Edit:
With Link2SD, I freezed com.oplus.cota (Software Updates 1.4.15)
and com.oplus.romupdate
The easy way. Hope this helps.
On Samsung's I disable these two.
com.ws.dm is the firmware updater/upgrader.
Search for any entry with "update" in it.
I'm still running happily on Pie on my N10+, no issues.

Seems that package disabler don't work well for Android 11, so link2sd or titanium backup done the trick.
Disabling com.oplus.cota is not enough to get rid of updater. Need to get rid of com.oplus.romupdate , too. The phone even boots faster. Of course no background activities. Imagine every time downloading 4.8gb of update.zip
Edited.
Cheers.

I disabled those two services but it's still showing the annoying notifications all the time and even downloading automatically the update file whenever it wants. I think it's the 4th time the OS download the 4.7 GB update file by itself. I keep deleting it but it's very annoying.
Is it working for you? Did you have to do anything else?

You still have an updater app running. It may be coming through Google Playstore*.
I found this.
Remember the solution doesn't have to be for that exact year/model most times.
*my wifi is always disabled. I set Playstore to auto update by wifi only. You can also firewall block Playstore. I normally keep Playwhore package disable and firewall blocked as it constantly causes trouble.

As @blackhawk wrote this come through Play Store. I disabled OPPush.apk but no luck. Still receive the notification maybe 1-2 times daily. As per thread linked we need to disable few GMS activities. Will check which are for our model and share here.
To avoid downloading the update.zip you can create empty file with this name. I particularly put the A21 update, because will try to update soon to it. The updater still offers the C.01, but keeps my A21 copy. So empty update.zip should work too, to avoid downloading.
I always use battery saver and try to reboot with low battery. Wifi always on. Play store set manual.
Until now the OTA updater always detected the altered with magisk boot.img and didn't update with error about security, but I don't trust this behavior and want to block it myself.
Hopefully disabling cota y romupdate do the trick, and disabling few related GMS activities will stop the notifications.
I update my apps once a week, so maybe will try as last resort disabling play store and services. Enable before app update and turn off again. Hope this will not be necessary once GMS update activities become disabled...

You can simply Firewall block Playstore although it will still suck resources in the background.
Before blocking Playstore, any paid for apps should be activated and then firewall blocked as well to preserve their purchase state.
In my case this works well. I keep installable copies of all my apps so Playstore is rarely ever needed. Since I'm running on Android 9 and 10 many of the newer app updates are inferior. I'm using apk.mirror more/online Virustotal
If there's any doubt, I don't install it.
I use whatever comes in handy...

Hmm, now I'm looking closer, and that particular host is used for ton of stuff (push notifications, google photos and what not). Meaning banning it will likely break a lot of stuff for you.
However the OTA url just redirects to https://redirector.gvt1.com/packages/data/ota-api/package/....zip (ie add just 'redirector.gvt1.com' to hosts). That one seems safer to filter out.
Will consider disabling play store without sacrifice the productivity. In my workflow use a lot of Google stuff - workspace, cloud, analytics, etc. So ungoogled Android is not possible on this phone. Thank you.

Just posted message about cannot live ungoogled
You are right. The Google apis host handles all api request.
More precise is add redirector.gvt1.com to blacklist.

I suspected it was something related to Google as the download window was labeled "Google something" in the recent apps. **** you Google, I want to regain control over my device, what a pesky company! I also have the automatic updates disabled in play store, but that does not stop the OTA update from downloading without my consent. I can pause the download and it keeps paused for some time but then it resumes downloading by itself saying that the system has not been updated for a long time. I noticed the damn update is downloaded even using mobile data (without being connected to a wifi), that sucks

I don't fear the update cause I have TWRP so I know the update is gonna fail anyway. But I hate to keep receiving notifications all the time, some of them are sticky and are only gone after rebooting. But the most annoying thing is to keep downloading the update again and again. I will test setting metered connection to see if this prevents the automatic download, but it sucks to have to do all those things to just disable updates.
