Is it still possible to go back to an earlier version of Android?
It used to be possible to do so by flashing the bootloader from an earlier version of Android.
A guy called @freeza used to make bootloader packages back in the galaxy note 4 days.
Is it still possible?
i am wondering too...
You can still go back to Android 10 firmware without any special packages. Just use Odin to flash previous firmware.
Samsung did not update the bootloader version with Android 11.
Still on bootloader U1 for Android 10 and 11.
Is there a guide to using Odin to flash previous firmware? I hate Android 11!I woke up this morning to find my tablet had been updated to it and I want to go back to Android 10.
Search for the wanted firmware on this site and read the instructions on the right side of the page

I have successfully reverted back to android 10 ATK4 using the directions from the Sammobile site linked above, however I got my firmware from Samfw website, much faster download. Quick and easy.

Just a reminder, the bootloader does not need to be unlocked to flash stock firmware.
The only thing you cannot do is flash firmware that has an older bootloader version. Most of the time it will simply fail, but you can soft brick your device as well.
I also managed to install android 10 like you guys, but how do you keep it from updating?
Any ideas?
FYI, didn't root or unlock the bootloader, but it still worked, yay!

if you root you could use an app to freeze the update service I believe you can. like using titanium backup.
My tablet version is T970OXM2BUC1, is this method impossible anymore?
Even if I try,
sw rev check fail abl fused 2 binary 1 image extract failed
Error was displayed.
Or is it possible if it is rooted?
I want to use wm overscan command...
The screen is too big to play the game comfortably.
It wasn't good that I didn't update often.
If I had updated it a month ago, I should have been able to get back easily...
I'm not good at English, so I'm sorry if the sentences are strange.
having damndest time helping my bro in law try to move his Tab S7 (T870) back from A11 to A10. All attempts have failed. Have tried multiple PC's, multiple USB cables, Multiple versions of the XAR A10 firmware. Have even unlocked OEM bootloader, still same errors in Odin. Have seen others say they can get back from A11 to A10. But for some reason this damn tablet won't work. Beginning to think something with the updates on it have made it incapable of going back to A10. Keep getting SW REV CHECK FAIL: [abl] Fused 2 > Binary 1 error on Download screen on tablet itself. Odin just has failed after it gets to xbl.elf. Thoughts?

The tablet is already on bootloader 2.
"[abl] Fused 2> Binary 1" is what you get when you try and flash a lower bootloader image.
No going back., even root can't change that.
Well... You can go back from BUAC (I did it) but personally I don't know if you can from beyond that.
So there is no going back for peeps like me who have the following
RP1A.2000720.012.T970XXS2BUC1 ?

Nope... you now have a version 2 bootloader.
You can only go forward at this point, or remain where you are.

well damn that sucks. my bro in law had me convinced he hadn't upgraded it. turned out he had updated it to that newer service update which patched the bootloader. pretty crappy of Samsung to do that, when only trying to flash back to older Android version. I dont care about keeping same bootloader, just want to help him get A10 back on this thing. guess he gonna return it now. lol thanks for the info.

1.) Turn off the phone. Hold down Volume Up + Home + Power until you see a little Android guy. It will say Applying System Update or something like that possibly, and just let it do it's thing until a menu comes up.
2.) Select "Apply update from ADB". You can scroll using the volume buttons and select using the power button.
3.) Make sure you have ADB and the proper drivers installed on your PC:
http://dl.adbdriver.com/upload/adbdriver.zip
4.)Put the firmware in the ADB folder. You can rename it to anything easy to remember like "FIRMWARE".
5.) In the ADB folder, hold SHIFT + right mouse click and choose "Open command window here". Then type the command "adb sideload FIRMWARE" (where FIRMWARE is how you named your file).
6.) Wait patiently.
7.) The phone will reboot and will hang at AT&T logo. This can take another 10 minutes, just wait until it's done
Ok, so I'm a novice at best on flashing with Odin... just flashed my AT&T S7 for the second time today, loading the SM-G930U version of Oreo (G930UUEU8CRJ2).
My understanding is that the 8 in the firmware version (G930UUEU8CRJ2) indicates that it is bootloader v. 8. I also understand that once you update the bootloader, it is impossible to downgrade it... So when I realized I couldnt enable Wifi calling on SM-G930U firmwares I thought I would flash back to the AT&T firmware, and then debloat it to improve the performance. But i cant find an SM-G930A Oreo Rom with BL v. 8.
I thought this one might be, but the 3 files seem to be independant of each other, and the 3rd file that lloked like it might be BL8, is less than 50MB...
So Im hoping you can provide some guidance, and im hoping i didnt shoot myself in the foot with this SM-G930U firmware.
Thank you

The bootloader binary was updated to 8. After you flash this you'll be stuck on Oreo.
Full firmware for G930A G930AUCS8CRJ2 will be uploaded later today.

Awesome! Thank you, thank you!
I actually really like Oreo, just trying to get Oreo and WiFi calling working on my phone (My Office at work fights all day for 1 bar of cell signal), I had hoped that WiFi calling worked in the SM-G930U variant since everyone talked about it running so much better, but alas, it still doesn't support WiFi Calling (Stupid me for thinking it might have had support added recently).
Thank you again
(My Wife is sure to get upset with me once again working on my phone again today... whoops)
Thanks , G930AUCS8CRJ2 is working fine so far. Do you mind sharing how you go about 'converting' a set of ODIN files to a flashable adb zip? Do you just unextract every single archive in the .md5 files? and then zip it all up? And would rooting to G930AUCU4CRI2 brick my phone now that I am on CRJ2? My bad for all of the questions.

You mean about G930AUCS8CRJ2 sideload with adb? Im just pulling the update from AT&T servers and uploading it here. I don't know how to make sideload zip. And for the rooting part I don't know if its possible now because the bootloader binary was updated to 8, try to search here on xda and see if you can find root methods for this firmware

I actually have a S7 G930A. Rooted before, not rooted now.. Is there a way to do any of these updates without hooking up to a PC? I actually have no charge port functions and can only use wireless charger to charge the phone till i get the port fixed someday to do these features. I am on Android 8.0 oreo that i installed to sd card and updated from there like a year ago? Is that possible to do? Use SD card update.. Or. Would love to root the phone again, but cent seem to find a one click root app that will work with this phone..

Yes, you can update your phone without pc, just download the update you need from your phone, put the update in your sd card, go to recovery and select the option "Apply update from SD card"

I was thinking something like that was possible. I have baseband version G930AUCU4CRB5 Android 8.0.0 on the AT&T Gal S7 as mentioned, I never saw any updates from this version to go up to a newer version or get into regular updates from OTA. 2 issues I would like to also fixed, that came with the manual update to 8.0 oreo on my phone was the HR heart rate sensor on the back by your flash(red LED) always goes off.. And have tried to go to Samsung health and do some settings to turn it off, but seems to show back up eventually. Also, the issue of not having a working LED indicator, works fine when the phone is POWERED off. and charges. But in OS, it won't work, screen off or on bc of the update. If anyone knows how those issues could be fixed and if there is a possible newer update from my baseband mentioned below. And thanks for the response.
HI, Help needed
Hi,
I wanted to check if it is possible to flash the latest Oreo firmware you have here for downloading dirrectly to my samsung s7 that is currently running on 7.0? Current BaseBand is G930AUCU4BQK2
Basically what happened was that i lost all my contacts on my phone, I ended up download Dr.Phone to my laptop, which i used to try and recover my numbers. What i didnt know was that dr.phone rooted my device which has caused me nothing but headaches.
I now want to flash my phone and get updated to oreo and have my phone working normally again. Since dr.phone did whatever it did to my phone I lost use of my finger print scanner, had to disable samsung health as it kept trying to open on its own, my phone is lagging and freezing constantly..
I just want my phone to be normal again and unrooted and updated.
Lastly my phone is an AT&T device, that i bought second hand in Dubai, if i flash stock firmware is it going to carrier lock my device to AT&T again?
Any advice and help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Before start i'd like to tell you about my adveture with my phone
I had a Huawei mate 10 ( ALP-L29 c185) installed 8.0.0.139, rooted with magisk and TWRP (By Pretoriano80) as recovery so yesterday i suddenly think that "i shuld try android 9" (i don't know why?) . I searched here and internet so finally i decided to update by "hurupdater" method. I downloaded stock firmware by "Firmware Finder for Huawei" app (9.0.0.177) and hurupdater 0.4 also twrp_bla_alp_0.7.img for twrp recovery. I put them in same folder on sdcard. Renamed recovery.img to keep recovery as twrp. Lastly i restarted recovery and installed hurupdater.zip.
DANG!!! My phone is bricked....... It gave a lot of errors during installation and when i try to reboot it was bootlooping, cant load recovery interface (twrp or stock). I could enter e-recovery but gives "getting package info failed" error. So ended up with bricked phone in my hands. I tried many ways including hisuite but nada....
Then i remembered "Funky Huawei", bought 1 credit and followed instructions. After long hellish hours (firmware downloading takes long) i have my phone back working with stock 8.0.0.140 rom, stock recovery even relocked bootloader also my whole data was intact. My curosity cost me 20 $ and hours. This morning i realised there is system update 9.0.0.159
So my questions o this point
1)What should i do now? Update to android pie (with stcock recovery of course)? Is it worth trying or just install twrp and root my current rom and go on my way for a while longer ? (till a more stable pie relase)
2) For the future, what was wrong in my update process. I'd never want to make same mistake again..
Thanks...

I have exactly same phone (c185) never tried unlocking bootloader but I updated to emui 9 159 there are some buggy things like when you want to use third party lunchers You can't use gesture navigation and it has so many bugs so not using gesture is better
there are again some problems with third party launchers (im using nova) like sometimes when you go to "resents" its totally blank and you have to force stop "huawei home" to make it right
there are some good changes in camera like new 960 fps slow motion (but there is a huge crop in 240fps 720p and 960fps 720p I can't remember that 240fps had that crop or not) Turning off master ai and some new scene detection but it's slower than last one
there is a new performance mode that i love using it (it feels like a real flagship however it's not because of stupid SOC)
there is a new AI api that android 8 didn't have so most of apps wasn't able to use NPU
in emui 8 there is a little bit better battery
I love changes to my phone so I preferred buggy new firmware to old ones there are so many good little changes in interface (like when you take a picture you can go to gallery then scan it for QR code)
There is a way better Mira cast functionality (and new desktop mode in it)
hi touch, hi vision
These were all expensives I had with emui 9 that I can think of
How did you update @arianamirgholami ?
Meanwhile, I have the same phone but am still on Android Oreo......I have the ALP-L29 8.0.0.141(C185) model. I'm reading more and more about others with this model that have gotten the Android Pie upgrade over the last two months but the upgrade is still not available to me. Makes no sense...I have a stock rom on the phone, I am NOT rooted and my bootloader is locked. Neither hisuite, hicare, system update, nor firmware finder methods gets me anywhere. They all say that I'm on the most recent firmware.... 8.0.0.141(C185). Go figure....

Yes I saw many people on internet facing same issue, What I assume is that when you purchased the phone it came with 8.0.0.141, that's why its not getting the Pie. Because the phones which were using 8.0.0.140 already got the Pie instead of 8.0.0.141. So one thing you can try is to go back to 8.0.0.140 and then update the phone. I did the same, Installed 8.0.0.140 using HiSuite and then update to Pie.

My Note 8 was purchased from ATT a couple of years ago. I received the Pie update. Then I decided to switch to T Mobile. As soon as I booted up with a T Mobile SIM, the firmware changed itself to T Mobile.
Now I want to gift this phone to someone who lives in China. I tried to flash the latest U1_XAA firmware to the phone, but so far, it has failed to flash. Is this even possible? Or is there something special I needed to do to flash it with Odin?
Thank you.

Follow the instructions to switch from N950U to N950U1 and you'll be fine just don't try to flash anything with a lower boot loader version it'll always fail! If you're on boot loader version 5 then you HAVE TO flash either 5 or 6 no going backwards to 4 or lower! There's a page on the forums to switch from N950U to N950U1.. It's easy to do. This is the page! Make sure you read from page 1 to understand! https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-sm-n950u-u1-t3685884

I am a noob at this. I've downloaded the latest U1_XAA firmware from Sammobile. Since I don't know how to decipher the firmware file name to see what bootloader it is, I assumed that it is equal or higher than the Android Pie in my Note 8. I will try flashing again with the PrinceComsy Odin again later since my phone has carrier's Android Pie right now (ATT to T Mobile automatically).
Just checked. Phone has PDA N950USQS6DSG6 and CSC N950UOYN6DSG6. I downloaded PDA N950U1UES6DSH1 and CSC N950U1OYM6DSH1 from Sammobile. Looks like they both are booloader 6, no? Will try PrinceComsy to flash.
Tried flashing, it failed. Don't know what to do now...

You need to make sure you use the right Odin and if it doesn't work just reboot into recovery mode and factory reset the phone so you can at least use it where it was before.
I've tried Patched, Prince, and regular Odin. They all failed...
Just wondering if the automatic change of ATT to T Mobile firmware when I changed carrier has anything messing this up.

Does it at least boot up? If it does you can just send it the way it is and let whoever you're giving it to see if their sim card will work. It appears as if it's on the latest firmware version already which is boot loader version 6 so you might not be able to switch to the U1 version because Samsung might have blocked it in the new version.
Yeah, it operates as normal when I leave the loading screen. The phone was already unlocked and was used in Asia and Asian SIM card as an ATT phone. If there is nothing else I could do, I'll just have to give it out like the way it is.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
This was my first attempt at rooting, and it has failed big time. I can boot into TWRP and Download mode, and I have tried using Odin 3.13 to flash back into downgraded stock firmware that is correct for me (checked model, region)
Should it not just be a matter of my going into download mode, opening Odin, and putting in the AP, BL, CP, and CSC files in the correct tabs to reflash it back to a stock rom or does it not work if I was on Android 10 before root?
Will I need to reflash back into a stock android 10 rom instead of 9?
Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated, due to the fact my S9 plus is just stuck on the S9 plus logo screen on boot!
Sometimes you cant downgrade depending on certain things. Some firmware allow downgrading while others dont. If anything try the version you had before you tried to root.

So I successfully managed to get Android 10 flashed again.
I understand I cannot go from Android 10 to 8 - but can I go to 9?
Has anyone tried this on a S9plus sm-g965f?

yes you can go if you have the samme binary . So if you haven t made the april update which is binary 8 you can still downgrade to Android 9
i updated to android 12, without any modifications prior, is it possible to root this phone still? or is there no root method for android 12 yet? i've been curious on rooting it for a little while now.

Thank you! I hope it works fine for me.. i don't really want to kill my phone Lol i've had a lot of experience with rooting and unbricking phones, but i'm still a bit on edge especially with this one given its price compared to like $50 or less i've paid for others Haha

i hate to say it.. but the tutorial isn't working for me in qfil it tells me "Please make sure you have selected the correct programmer in flat build page" i rebooted it into the 9008 mode 10-20 times now and it hasn't worked..

Here, try this one.I just used it not even 10 minutes ago to make a full LUNS back up of a V60 I have laying on my desk.I'm actually using LUNS backups to crossflash other carrier V60's with AT&T software so the VoLTE works.
Edit:Oh,make sure you choose flat build. Then choose this firehose.

this was certainly an interesting experience, i could unlock the bootloader, but doing it via the file thing provided it won't work, going to fastboot and doing fastboot oem unlock, then booting into a twrp recovery and flashing magisk v24.3, it bricked the OS and i had to fight to get it to boot, twrp broke and is locked it refuses to unlock, it gave me an odd looking recovery mode as if it was from android kitkat or something (thats the best i can describe it, it looked much different from the other recovery to wipe) and it said it couldn't boot android and it said to factory reset, so i did.. it downgraded me to android 11 and now its rooted but i can't update to android 12 now because of it being rooted? is there a way to update to 12 now?

Afraid not because OTA updates will look for rooted or bootloader unlocked devices and will normally give you a white screen error code.Nature of the beast I guess you could say.If you don't plan on doing a custom rom or trying to remove OEM software it's not really worth it honestly.

Ahh okay. Thanks though! Do you know why it would have downgraded from 12 to 11 though? that doesn't really make any sense to me.. why did rooting downgrade without me installing an older system or anything like that?

Think about it this way, a V60 with a broken screen is less than 100 bucks. If you brick it, you can fix it for far less than bricking any other phone in a similar class.

Now,that's an odd one.My thoughts would be because of the engineering bootloader that's written for unlocking purposes? Are you sure it was A12 to begin with?lol..

And this is very true! The V60 was way ahead of it's time! It's a shame LG devices were never marketed properly and supported on a local retail level like they should have been. And even if you did brick them, worst thing would be peeling the back off and hitting the testpoint to bring it back to life.

Yes! I was so excited that i got 12 on it, the bootloader shows its android 12 though.. which is really confusing to me.. is there any chance there's an android 12 kdz for this phone floating around that i could try to root and flash? i'm kind of regretting it now, i can't get the fingerprint scanner working following the tutorial there.. i can't update to 12 again it just fails to download, my recovery mode is gone, i can't get back into the bootloader/fastboot mode only EDL mode but it won't recognize anything within windows, adb won't work nor fastboot, can i recover it still if i wish to go back to stock?
The good news is, it gets much better benchmark scores and is much much faster..
on geekbench, 1688 single core, 6203 multicore, it had a higher score but said it was invalid? that one was 4067 single core, 15601 multicore
antutu, it scored 695755 with just using kernel auditor and maxing out the cpu freq and setting gpu freq to 870mhz.
Edit: I just remembered, for where you mentioned the bootloader, i don't have the engineering one installed. i never got that far to even install it. just android debugging > oem unlock > fastboot > fastboot oem unlock

That depends on what model of V60 you have? Most of the kdz files for Verizon or T-Mobile can be found at the link below.AT&T or Sprint no kdz's to be found except back up Qfil copies I have found.Take a look, and LGUP it if you find the firmware you want. Most will be A11 and you can just OTA back to A12 with no problem.

If you refurb it with LGUP it will wipe it all.The T-Mobile model has A12,but no physical kdz as of yet. So,you'll have to OTA back to A12 once you set it all back up.

Yes,that wil work until the next update. If it's modified when the next OTA hits,it will give you the update error.Basically, you just set it back stock and the update works. But,glad you have it worked out.
