EMUI 10.1 Aspect Ratio not Camera resolution (SOLVED .. Info added) - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

So after upgrading my New M20Pro to the latest 10.1.. Ive noticed that Huawei have replaced the camera UI, resolutions and pixel binning with just aspect ratios... After doing some research, it appears this has been done to all Huawei devices from the NOva 5T to the P30 and 40 Pro.. and while Huawei have given explanations on this in their forums,, all I can find in the 20pro is the 40mpx Hi Res in Pro mode.. not the 24/40/48mpx settings Huawei say..
So how does it work on the M20P.. can someone please briefly explain or point me to a thread that explains this for our phone.. and any tips anyone has for using this..
Thanks all

So after much hunting and researching.. i found my answer on YT no less.. so incase your wondering.. heres the Aspect ratios with their corresponding resolution settings
Rear Cam
(4:3) 10mpx .. 3648x2736 (4x10mp pixel Binning)
(1:1) 7mpx ... 2736x2736
(18.8x9) 6mpx ... 3648x1744
Front Cam
(4:3) 24mpx ... 5632x4224
(1:1) 18mpx ... 4224x4224
(18:9) 16mpx ... 5632x2816
In Photo Mode, to get the full (4:3) 40mpx .. 7296x5472, you need to swipe along to "More" and tap "Hi-Res"
In Pro Mode you just tap the "40mp" in the left corner of the screen
Anyway I hope this helps someone who is curious..

[Q] Change camera resolution

Hi,
I have problems with the quality of photos. According to the specification lumia 800 the camera is 8MP (3264 x 2448 pixels). In the settings I can choose four options: 8M, 7M, 3M, 2M. Unfortunately, it looks like the phone doesn't consider what I choose..
When I select 8M (or 7M) the resolution of taken photos is like 3M (or 2M): 1632x1224 pixels.
I also switched off the macro mode, but it didn't work.
Has anybody any suggestion what is the problem?
The newest updates were installed.

[Q] [XPERIA NEO] Recording with 960x720 instead of 1280x720

Hi there.
Does anyone know if it's possible to hack the android camera, somehow, to record the HD videos instead 4:3 rather than 16:9? My camera (Xperia Neo) obviously doesn't have a widescreen lens so the magnificent 16:9 is just cropped 4:3. Recording in VGA obviously gives you everything the lense can capture but the quality isn't exactly great.
Any ideas? I tried editing media_profiles.xml, simply replacing 1280 with 960 but it only crashed the cameras.
Thanks

[Q]Search camera app with (blurred water, light trails) effects.

Hey xda users ! :cyclops: .. I am looking for an app that can create the effect of "milk water" .. Recently I stumbled on the Cortex Camera, but the quality is not the best .. Is there any alternative? I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, with manual settings (shutter speed), but when I set to 4s shutter speed when is day, the whole thing is too much illuminated and there is nothing to see .. I think Huawei P8 / P9 / Mate and Honor 8 have these "effects/camera mods" included .. I send down a illustrative image.
btw. I was try it with Neutral Density (ND1000) filter, but quality is too bad.

Changing resolution blocks screenshots

@duraaraa any info or direction that you can provide on this?
I upped the resolution from stock 1080x2160 to 2160x4320 and left dpi at stock so I can have more screen real estate and still have a comfortable viewing experience. The issue I'm facing now is, I cannot capture a screenshot I get an error.
System UI
Couldn't Capture Screenshot
Screenshots are not allowed by this app or your organization.
steps to reproduce:
up your resolution to 2160x4320 and take a screenshot
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Sorry, don't know. Probably issue related to rooting and the settings you changed.
Thanks for the quick reply but I'm not rooted.

Mate 10 pro panel is only 1080p to begin with,
In what way did you upped the resolution ?? The setting wont give you that resolution option.

no need for root or settings to change DPI or Resolution
adb shell wm size 2160x4320
adb shell wm overscan reset

uh... well... you already understand that this method is "only faking" the number for the app to think that it run on that size of screen right ? Hardware & stock OS wise, the limitation is still on 1080p
I dont think the system UI app of EMUI 8 itself was made to handle that number
Normal 4K itself is only 3840 x 2160, and i dont think i ever found any phone running 4K+ (18:9)
This is just like asking why sometimes the play store act weird when we change our DPI
So answer is that : because it simply didn't support it
I've done #wm size 720x1280 & wm density 320 to 720p screen for long battery life. and I found the system's screenshot can not take whole screen(720p one).
It looks like the screenshot component take a 480p screen and the same 720p adjusting on AEX 5.x is fine.
so I thought maybe the screenshot on pie still mistake 720p screen for 1080p screen and take a 480p picture(expect: 1080p x 720/1080 = 720p, but now: 1080p x 720/1080 x 720x1080 = 480p)
But I notice that keep wm size 1080x1920, whatever which density(320 480 240)I've set, the screenshot could take a complete screen picture. while I change density, whatever resolution (720x1280, 480x800, 1080x1920), screenshot just take the top left part of screen...
partial screenshot is same condition , take a top left part of what I selected .
the screenshot on different resolution is the last issue I can found on AEX 6.0, which not contain on AEX5.x(maybe this is pie issue but still expect you can fix it) if I don't need change the resolution, the ROM is PERFECT?
can you fix this ?? thxxxxx a lot

Who is gonna fix what? Just use the phone the way its supposed to be used i dont understand what you are doing and why. If anyone, huawei can fix your issue i guess.... good luck talking to them.
You should read this, particularly the long answer near the top which explains the size vs density changes.

I think this is actually a bug in android pie. My phone has a 4k display, but normally uses HD res unless in gallery app. So I changed wm size and density to match the display (and despite what some other say, this actually changes the visible resolution, IF your display has this many physical pixels).
Screenshots worked worked fine in oreo, but after updating to pie, there are black borders on the picture.

No Huawei phone has a 4k display, this whole thread is a waste of space really, guy setting his phone display to something that is not supported and wondering why his screenshot won't work, damn mate 10 pro is 2160x1080 and can't be any more than that, if the problem was the screenshots not working in a supported mode there might be a reasonable and were but as it stands this thread should be closed and deleted

The whole point of my post was more like: its not a Huawei only "bug", but effects all (or at least most) pi phones with a custom wm size set. Maybe I was beating around the bush too much...

Hi, have you found any solution for the screenshots when you change the screen resolution? You're right it happens only in pie and with different phones, in oreo the multitasking previews resize when you enter to the app but the screenshots are ok, in oreo the previews in multitask are ok but the screenshot miss a part of the screen.

Gcam problem on Xiaomi Mi9: to much zoom in Full-Screen Mode (16:9)

Hello together,
i have installed the newest Version of *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* port 7.3.
It is running smoothely, but there is a Problem.
As soon i Change the Picture mode from 4:3 to 16:9 Fullscreen. The *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* automatically has a smaller recording area.
It Looks like as it has been zoomed in.
I like the *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum*, but this makes is useless for me.
Could anyone test it, and report me, if it is the same on other phones?
Maybe one of you already have a solution for this?
Best Regards
Averell
