Hello all,
I have the idea to give my running group a route and then list the km run by each person (anonymized) to see how far the group has run in total.
Do you have any app suggestions (Android) or approaches on how to implement this?
no ideas?

Hi everybody
i do a lot of running and use an app called endomondo which allows me to share my route after i have completed my run
does anyone know of an app that i can install and then if someone logs on to a website or the app they can see my run on a map in real time?
thanks for looking
I am in the process of designing a Money Management app for Android.
I want to avoid the use of any sort of Advertisements but at the same time I want to try to encourage my userbase to purchase the full version.
I know this sounds obvious but I would like to hear some expert advice on how you guys approached this issue with your apps.
Some of the ideas that I managed to come up with are listed below:
Limit the number of transactions to a specific set value (ex: 30) and then force users to purchase the app if they want to continue using it
Provide free access to the whole app but remove specific advanced features
Give users a 30 day trial period for full access of the app
Any further ideas I might be able to consider ?
How feasible would it be to implement any of the above mentioned strategies ?
Thanks,
I'm looking for an app that allows users to send a request for help/assistance with built in location, short message and some pictures.
Other users detecting a request within a preset range would be notified of the event and be able to respond.
I've found a couple of apps that do this sort of thing, however they are centralised/restricted to specific areas. For example Australia has only two cities covered, each by a different app.
My desire implement it for off-road driving recovery requests. I'm a member of a Facebook group for such requests of people whom are bogged or otherwise challenged. The most common issue I see it people asking where the stuck vehicle is located and where is "such and such" track located.
A few times when a request has been nearby to me, I've not seen it until too late because Facebook felt it wasn't important enough to show it to me.
I've search everywhere I can think of but an unable to find anything close to suitable. I'm hoping someone here might know of something (or even be willing to start a new project).
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.
Hello Friends,
I am new in this forum and want to ask something from you and also need your guideline for this, I want to develop an app like whatsapp, viber etc. but I have no idea how they works. I have searched on Google and found that whatsapp working on Ejabberd (XMPP) server. This server facilitates instant message transfer between two or many users at any given second. ERLANG is the programming language and Ejabberd is an open source Jabber server written in Erlang language.
But I want to know that if developed app how that will be work like what setup I required for this to run live and users can use 24 x 7 without any disturbance. Do I need to purchase anything like we need to do in website like webhosting, domain etc.
Kindly guide me in details about this. Your answers will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

First of all this Question should be in the general section. Hopefully some mods will look into it
And yeah, you need an actual physical server to do this. Only then you can guarantee your customers complete hassle free access to it. Erlang is used in whatsapp because its probably the best language to code for handling large set of real time communication between a very large number of people. Thats why the creators of whatsapp went with Erlang even if its an old language.
As the customers increase your server costs will also go up. All the best. :good:
Hey! Its a Idea! But you musst make a lot of monetization for this app! Or you want make this app for your private chats with friends?
I purchased some smart medical devices by a company called Contec to help monitor my grandfather's health. The devices are great, but the app itself (com.contec.phms) is abysmal - it will collect readings from the devices via Bluetooth, but there is no way to export the data to take to the doctor. I have tried contacting the app developers, but I have yet to hear back.
I am pretty handy with Linux, but I can't figure out how to interface with these products without the app. I'm not much of an Android developer, but I know enough to hack small changes to existing apps. If I could decompile this app, I'm sure I could trace the data and at least figure out a way to export to CSV. I have tried a few common decompilers, but I can't get the app to cleanly build in Android Studio. I don't know if this is against forum rules, but could someone help?
