Unknown audible notifications - Samsung Galaxy S21 Questions

Throughout the day my phone gives audible notifications, with my default "Notification sound" tone in settings. When I check the phone, there are no new notifications in the notification panel. How can I track down these phantom audible notifications?

I've been experiencing this too.
I thought I had eliminated the source. I had recently installed AutomateIt, which I have used on my various Android devices for years now. It executes scripts to control and change settings. I had disabled scripts that turn wifi off and on when GPS detects I've left/entered my home location. This script seems to have regularly notified me all day while I was home.
Disabling those scripts definitely reduced the audio notifications. But, like you, I have some unexplained audio alerts without corresponding text notifications.

I think my issue was having "notification reminders" on. Since turning it off, I haven't had the issue.

I turned off notification reminders right after you posted your message. And I haven't had a phantom sound since. So thanks!

[Q] Notification Profiles

Hey guys,
I apologize if this is a repost, and if it is, feel free to berate me, but I have read a lot of posts on various forums about this and still have a few questions. I am running the CleanROM Verizon SE, however I am fairly certain that this is an issue with the stock ROM as well.
Problem: I really dislike the sound settings in the Note 2.
Reasons: The volume rocker only changes the volume of the ringer, and not of the notifications. Setting the phone to vibrate really only sets the ringer to vibrate. In order for it to vibrate for SMS, I have to check Vibrate check box in the messaging app settings, which means that it also vibrates when the phone is not on vibrate (when the ringer is on, I'm not sure if it still vibrates when it is on silent)
What I (and probably many other Note 2 users) Want: The volume rocker to control every noise that comes out of the phone (phone calls, texts, gmails, other notifications) except media and alarms. When I put it on vibrate, I want everything that would make a sound if the ringer were on to vibrate (phone calls, texts, gmails). And when it is on silent, I want no noise to come out of the phone.
This is the way it was on my previous phones (Thunderbolt, Blackberry), and it is a really basic thing for Samsung and/or Google to mess up.
Question: Do you guys know of any app, mod (I am rooted), or ROM where this is fixed, and is at least somewhat close to what I want? When it comes to ROM's, I would ideally like to stay with TW, since I do enjoy the S Pen functionality and all of the other features, like multiwindow and motions.
I have read that Light Flow may have what I want, but that it has a few bugs with the Note 2.

When you click the rocker, as it is changing the ringer volume, there is a settings icon to the right of the volume. Clicking that brings up the sound settings for notifications, alarms, media, etc.
Not sure if this is as detailed as you need it. As for vibrate, not sure what you mean? Anytime I put my phone on silent, the only thing that makes any noise is the alarm (obviously) and none of my apps that would vibrate actually do vibrate when on silent. Sorry I can't help you there.
I use Lightflow for the led, but have not yet used it for the actual sound notification portion.

I know you can press the little gear icon and that gives you a few more options when it comes to sound. That does what I want when it comes to sound, but is kind of a pain in the butt. I feel like the rocker should change both the notification and the ringer volume.
For vibrate, the biggest thing is messaging and gmail. I don't want my phone to vibrate when I get a text and the sound is on. But when my phone is on vibrate, I want it to vibrate when I get a text. The setting in the stock messaging app makes it vibrate both when the sound is on and when the phone is on vibrate. As I said in the OP, I'm not sure if it also vibrates when on silent, because I don't use silent often.

Yea, I remember the Thunderbolt had the option to tie the notification volume to the ringer volume (which I think is what you talked about in OP) - unfortunately, short of setting each specific notification (a la a third party app) I'm not sure I've come across a better option. Sorry.

What third party app can do that?

I don't know of a ready-made third party app, but I have used Tasker for certain apps.
This would require a special profile to be created for each and every app. I use a special profile that controls who can call me at night when my phone is on silent, and have set up various vibrate patterns for different apps to differentiate them. I haven't used it for every app, but something like that could possibly be accomplished.
Again, not much of a ready-made solution

Ah, okay. Thanks for your help. I'll definitely keep that in mind. The only apps I would do that for are text and gmail. Tasker is kind of pricey though.
If anybody else has any other ideas, feel free to tell me!

custom vibration issues

Hey guys,
I am running ICS. Like others, I am kind of frustrated that you cannot set separate volumes for incoming calls and notifications/texts.
It wasn't a huge deal, I could use Setting Profiles lite to put my phone on vibrate when I plug it into a charger, I could use a call blocker to prevent an incoming call from preventing my alarm from going off (it happens if I get a call at the same time the alarm is set to go off). But I ended up purchasing and installing ICS+ Enhanced Ringer Control, which separated volumes but didn't allow for enough customization over controls to be really convenient. It still would have generally worked well enough for me, especially since my speaker is broken and my device is automatically silent without a bluetooth speaker (so I wouldn't have to adjust ringer volume on the go), but...
Ever since installing (and subsequently uninstalling) Enhanced Ringer Control, custom vibration patterns no longer work for me - I mean they work but not for notifications/alerts. That means incoming calls and texts and e-mails are back to the same, generic, easy enough to miss patterns. I tried re-installing Smart Vibrator thinking permissions needed to be reset, but that did not work. I am assuming that re-installing Aqua Mail (which gives the option of a custom pattern for incoming e-mail) would also not work.
I e-mailed the developer of Enhanced Ringer Control, but I figured I might have better luck finding a fix here. Thanks in advance. I prefer custom vibration to "Enhanced Volume Control."

[Q] Turn on notification sound when screen is locked/off

Where can I find the setting to turn on the notification sound when the screen is off (locked)? The phone is not muted.

Is it only the sound which is missing or do you not get notifications at all?
If it's only the sound, individual apps have their own settings for notifications, but it'd be odd if all of them have them turned off.
I guess it's more likely that the phone disconnects from WiFi when idle. This can be fixed through settings -> wifi -> advanced -> keep Wifi on during sleep: always.
I can get the notification. It's just the phone not vibrate or play any sound to notify me something is happening. I did the same test on my Nexus 7 tablet, and it vibrates and plays a sound.

In setting -> sound ->volumes there's a "ringtone and notifications" section. Could it be that from some reason it's all the way down?
The "ringtone and notifications" is already set to max.

How to turn off Vibration for notifications

Am trying to de-activate vibration for notifications while having notification sounds active - previous devices I've used have had the option to keep sound on (notifications, calls, alarms) but turn off vibration completely, whereas I can't find a way to leave sound on but turn vibration off.
Most notifications are for Whatsapp, have turned off Vibration for all settings I could find within Whatsapp settings. Can't find anything that relates specifically to Vibration in the Xperia settings though. Am running stock standard setup for the Compact (just purchased a few days ago).

If you're receiving vibration when sound is on, it's the app causing it. The regular "sound on" profile is for sound only. Your app should not vibrate unless you set the device to the vibrate profile but a lot of apps do it anyway. I don't use those apps.

Question Notifications don't work when ringtone is set to silent vibrate

I just upgraded from an S10 Plus. I have my audio settings set exactly the same. When using Google Maps to navigate I have it set to alert only. On the S10 while driving the music would drop in volume, I would get the alert tone and she would say "speed trap ahead" along with the pop-up on the screen asking if the speed trap is still there. On the S23 I only get the pop-up on the screen, no audio notification and the music volume stays constant. Is this a known bug? I would also get notification tones for messages as well, nothing on the S23. If I set it to be completely un-muted the turn by turn directions come through as expected but I have not yet driven through an area where an alert notification would come through while un-muted.
That sounds like a bug because I have a macro set to run everytime I connect to my car to turn down notification volume to 0 so it doesn't mute audio for notifications but calls still ring for me just fine.
