Hey people, hope everyone's well.
I have an issue with recording videos using 3rd party apps like Instagram & Snapchat. Picture attached for reference.
Glitched video, audio is fine.
Taking pictures with these apps are fine. Both taking pictures & videos with stock camera also works flawlessly.
Phone : Huawei P9 Lite
ROM : This LineageOS 14.1 (Nougat 7.1.2)
Kernel : Above ROM's kernel.
Mods : Nothing involving camera, running stable Magisk 21.4 with Busybox installed.
Searched around but doesn't seem like this issue is common. Is there a fix? Perhaps a build.prop line or kernel tweak of somekind? Maybe a Magisk module?
Appreciate the help in advance. Thanks!

So, like the title suggests, i have unlocked the bootloader, rooted my z5c and applied the drm-fix-thingy. I have also for example installed the xposed framework and some modules. Taking photos works and they look fine, but it won't record video. I've tried different apps, resolutions, framerates but neither front nor back camera will record. Sony camera 2.0.0 for example force closes when i try it.
Has anyone faced anything like this? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Under my experience the camera doesn't work with xposed installed.
You decide Sony Camera (the google ones works) or xposed.
I tried google camera as well, it also takes photos (like sony's camera) but doesn't record video either :/ says it can't connect to the camera

It works again! Still don't really know what the problem was, i updated my xposed modules and rebooted the phone, now it records just fine... Maybe it just needed the reboot
I'm having issues with ROMs other then EUI w/ video conferencing (Line, google hangouts, skype). LineageOS (Both 6 & 7.1.2). When I video conf w/ google hangouts my front camera disconnects, but the user on the other end can still here me.
As soon as I recover my EUI TWRP backup, all works well. Is there a driver issue in other ROMs that would cause this?
I've tried several Google camera builds but most of them crash while processing photos. So I'd like to know that which Google camera build with portrait mode and hdr+ works the best without crashing?
Mee too

Me too. I'm searching for a working Google Camera port from 2 months. I have had installed Pixel Experience custom rom as soon as I bought my phone and then I tried A LOT of Google Camera ports: BSG, Arnova, UriKill, cstark, Skulshady, Toylan, scrubber and so on... They always have FC (more or less), some of them doen't even start, or have bad quality photos, or too pink... or too FCs.
Then I changed to Lineage OS 15.1... same story: tried the most GCam ports... same results!
Today I reverted back to stock (MIUI 9.5)... installed Arnova's v7beta9... and till now I haven't had FCs!! And with stock camera I can record slow motion videos (this is not possible with gcam port)!!
But I really don't like MIUI. Even with Magisk's Pixel module.
I have been using this GCam ver. 4.4.012.156195200.build.41155109 for many months now on stock MIUI rooted with Magisk. After each OTA update I just reflash the magisk image and change the build.prop for enabling Camera 2 API, and I get it working again. The slo-mo is buggy which I found fixed using the "Google Camera Patch" in magisk repo.
Here's the link for the apk I use: drive . google . com/file/d/1iXAkhIAq4kpGsn7u_eGBMeURknJR64p6/view?usp=sharing
You can also find the apk on Android FileHost.
P.S. I can't confirm it working with any custom rom. I am on MIUI 9.2.2.0 now and it works flawlessly (HDR of stock camera doesn't work with Cam 2 API enabled)
And XDA didn't let me share the link directly
It's a very old version, not supporting "Portrait Mode", is'nt it?
It does
HDR+ : Rear
Potrait mode (Lens Blur): Both rear and front
And I should add that the HDR+ works really well... seriously!
Can you send a screenshot / link of the exact Magisk module you're talking about?
If you're talking to me, I mean the "Pixel 2 Experience" module (v. 4.4)
The module's name is "Google Camera Patch" created by "simonsmh"
Hi there. Since I installed Android 10 ROMs, video recording with any camera is really laggy (5-10 fps). I've tried a lot of solutions: going back to android 9 roms, MIUI, magisk modules, etc... Nothing worked and i'm going crazy. Every ROM I use has this problem and i don't know how to fix it. Both camera sensors are Samsung.
This device have amazing camera it must have g cam
Is there any g cam for this specific divice?
If not how much time it will take to launch?
I have searched alot but cannot find for this device
Also guide me where it will be available
The most recent stable release of MGC by BSG somewhat works (MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV2b). I'm using the com.android.mgc package, but com.google.android.GoogleCameraEng also seems to work (the two com.codeaura.* packages crash and I haven't bothered trying the com.samsung.* packages).
The issues I'm facing at the moment are:
- buffer lag
- modules 0.6 and 0.8 crash the app (and 1.7 is fixed focus so pretty useless)
- slow-mo video doesn't work
I haven't found a working Magisk module to fix the buffer lag yet, or any MGC configs for this device, so have blacklisted the non-functional modules for the time being.
I don't like the MIUI gallery, so uninstalled it with Debloater and replaced it with Google's "Gallery Go", which interfaces well. If you don't have a Google gallery app then the gallery icon will probably crash the app.
The performance is definitely better, particularly when it comes to the horrendous oversharpening of the default camera app (worst in low light). The colours are perhaps a little warm for my liking though.

Which stable gcam is good for that phone?
I've not found a good stable gcam for this phone yet - it has a Mediatek processor which not many gcam modders support. If you find one let us know!
Mediatek == no gcam
Found this mod of Gcam Quite good. Give it a try. I haven't faced a crash while taking photo and videos.
Gcam Link
there is a telegram group, u can check it
Hi,
I have just bought a Poco M4 Pro 4G for my girlfriend.
I'm configuring it totally before offering it to her.
Just rooted, right now I would like to have the best possible on camera.
Which one should I install ?
