Question Redmi note 10 gaming performance - Redmi Note 10

Is it wise for me to sell my redmi note for lg g7 bcus the gaming performance on the note 10 is not good and the g7 uses sd845 and it's cheap

Why you buying a d€ad company device ?
Lg shutdowned !
and Redmi note 10 not for heavy games and the hardcore gamers won't be satisfied ! it's just for 150$ what you want more !?
beside , if you want gaming and cheap device go for Poco x3 pro.
regards

Thats the issue I am not satisfied, about lg I don't really care about software updates, but the note 10 is really smooth when during day to day task and have a really great screen.

I see no choice. Either way you have to compromise even if you get the LG G7 unless you spend a little more in some completely other phone which is better for both gaming, day to day task and has a great screen.

You're welcome.

It's fine for light gaming. Even some heavy gaming. Depends on the game. So far all the ones I play have been great. I just upgraded to this from a Redmi Note 7, and I am happy.

I just bought and use this RN10 (4/64, all usual 'treatment' by me, nothing special) for my daily phone for about a week, it's a beautiful entry level priced phone, but... aside of many positive things I like from it;
I see stutter (and/or lag) screen (animation) even for (supposed to be) light games (?), like UNO, Wordscapes, Candy Crush, etc.
(I'm not a gamer, I just ocassionally play those kind of light games here and there).
I'm a bit disappointed about this. Because with my old Asus ZF MPM 1 (same 4/64, same 'treatment', same home WiFi and all), those same 'light games' does not stutter/lag.
my RN10 is still in stock MiUI 12.5.2 now.
Perhaps it's the MiUI?
Because I think the hardware should be good enough (not stuttering/lagging like that) for those kind of light tasks/games, right?
(But in my son's (more than a year old) Redmi 9A 3/32 with stock MiUI,.. those stutter doesn't happen).
What's wrong with this Redmi Note 10, or what wrong did I do?
It's my 1st time using Xiaomi and MiUI.
I'm going to Unlock its BL tonight or tomorrow, after waiting Xiaomi mandatory waiting time for 168 hours.

Yes , definely is the MIUI... i have tried the latest 12.5.4 Global (Factory Reset ofc) and there is lag , overheating and much stutters in the system... of course doing basic stuff , i'm not a gamer..
and same case... my grandmother have a Redmi 9A 2/32 with the MIUI 12.0.17 and that phone have a much better performance in the system and games than my Note 10. WTF!!?
So , i switched to Custom ROMs...
The difference in the performance is like x100 times ... so Custom ROMs are the choice if you want a decent experience in this phone.
MIUI is the worst trash ever....

Confused thing for me is that Redmi 9A uses same MiUI 12.. strange.. but maybe the optimization Xiaomi does for Redmi 9A hardware is better(?) I don't know.
Now, my question is;
What Custom ROM do you use now?
(which has 100x performance like you said)

Yes , probably but is just unfair... Note Series should be better optimized but we know that Xiaomi loves to release a lot of phones instead of work in software...
Now i'm currently using crDroid 7.12 with latest WestCoast Superfast Kernel... the best in my opinion.. i love it

Is Xiaomi Redmi Note better than SGS3?

Hello everyone,
I've had my sgs3 over a year now and enjoyed every bit of it. now im looking for a replacement but on cheaper side. it doesn't need to be a flagship and I mostly look for gamin and multimedia capabilities with best camera for the price. so I came across Xiaomi Note Enhanced version for about 200$ and it seems just about perfect. mainly Meadiatek 1.7Ghzx8 CPU, Mali-450 GPU with 2gb ram it seems like a steal. but Im afraid of what Im losing and what Im gaining.I have no expierince with MIUI evr. so if you can share your thought, Its much appreciated.
1. would MIUI run every droid game and apps like regular Android? (I know about xposed not working. but im concerned about TB, Greenify, SuperSU, Root Explorer.
2. It says Mali-450 is 1.4x improvement over Mali-400. but our SGS3 runs mali400mp4 and clocked 533. so how would this par?
3. I dont care about screen mirroring DLNA and stuff. but for sound quality I crave. so anyone have expierience with xiaomi sound, input will be a great help.
4. for the last, I would like to know your opinion as I think of giving my s3 to my gf if I got satisfied with Redmi Note. but of course never leave the forum sake of im a xda user who wouldn't use a phone in regular manner is it worth to give away s3 over this redmi note?
Thank you.
I just got the Redmi Note, maybe this will help you a little?

Custom ROMs will be a problem since there aren't enough devs to port or build roms for that device.
And I've spoken to just 2 Xiaomi users and they don't like it at all. It's not just about the number of cores in the CPU or GPU. MTK is A-7 based and offers poor performance compared to A-9 or A-15 CPU.

Damn! such a bad news. My budget is $200 dollars and the lists of phones I have in mind are: Xiaomi Redmi Note,iOcean X7 Elite,THL T11 MTK6592 and Huawei Honor 3C Quad Core.. But like you see they all have MTK.... Sinse all have the same performance I was thinking to get one well known company better..
Go for redmi note. You, as a normal user, won't give rat's ass about a15, a9 etc. The a7 octa gives enough performance for everyday use. And miui is da bomb
Sent from my HM NOTE 1W
I agree, good performance, and redmi note is a good phone

Hopefully you held off for the Note 2 it's @ 1.7GHz , not the 1.4 GHz the original note was at.
Development is centered at the MIUI site, go there for more info.
Over all the phone is fast, very fast, so fast you will only see the difference between the A9/17 or Snapdragon 800 8274AB 2.3GHz and the A7 by software measurements.
I'm deciding between the Note 2 and the THL 5000.
5½" and 3300mAh Vs 5" and 5000mAh
so at the end,
which smart phone did you buy ?
i already bought a Redmi Note
still enjoying it
Well... I have two units here just arrived...Almost everything work as it should, but I have problems making data connection working. Wi-fi works great, but data over mobile network doesn't want to work at all. I've checked out on both units using different SIM cards (from different providers). I have to mention that the SIM cards work using other phones. AND I have to say that didn't want to sign up yet for any of the xiaomi services (cloud and rest). It must be somewhere in MIUI a setting. MIUI is a customised version of Android.
For the price seems to be a good product.

there are 3 version of redmi note2 (which you probably have). One of them is made for China 3g networks and other is WSCDMA.
When battery is removed you can read which version you have (maybe it's not usable on your networks).
Bought redmi note recently and I can say that it feels faster that Samsung Note 2 (I have both phones).
xiaomi phones are not replacement but best phones
...in terms of hardware specs and value for money, looks is something personal. Why branded phones are very expensive are because of their marketing cost and the cost attached to the brand value. Other than that xiaomi phones are very good.
My cousin bought the Xiaomi Mi3 and i bought a Redmi 1S for my fiance and both the phones are awesome and have very good camera and sound quality.
I have been using Galaxy S3 since 2012, and let me tell you I have been using MIUI Rom even before on my Sony Xperia X10, so as I got my S3 i rooted it and installed MIUI rom.
Yes, all your apps and games will run without any problem as it is Android, every manufacturer have their own version of Launcher and apps to differentiate their phones. What made me fall in love with MIUI were its native apps and features (like call recording which is available only when rooting, but in Xiaomi phones this is built in), and themes (you can change everything to your liking with one click- the dialer, messaging, statusbar, wallpaper, bopot animation, lockscreen, font, etc. or change each individually, and their themes are awesome).
I would suggest you to go for Xiaomi Mi3 if it suits your budget. But if you already have Samsung Galaxy S3 and if its performing good enough, then no point buying a phone with similar hardware. I am waiting for Mi4 to launch in India. Its a kickass phone (google it).
keep 'em both
Got both phones. Still love my SGS3 for the customizations.
More Redmi Note ROMs here:
http://en.miui.com/thread-26132-1-1.html
flashed mine with the ported Color OS. performed better than the original MIUI OS. you could also try the AOSP ROM faux 4.4.2 (actually its just 4.2.2) seem nice. i just dont like the developer switched the main storage for the external and so on..

Upgrade from Redmi Note 5 ai to poco ?

I have my note 5 running pixel experience and it's working well. My gf has an old iPhone 6 and she needs an upgrade. Is it worth it to just get us both povos and flash PE on them?
As good as Pixel Experience is it's still early days for that ROM on the Poco. The stock MIUI ROM still runs better and faster than Pixel Experience (MIUI is no slouch and gets 300 thousand in Antutu where Pixel Experience is 50 thousand points slower) I would just buy the phone and wait if you really want Pixel Experience ROM

It shouldn't be long till they have official release and the stable PE should be at the same level. IMO AnTuTu scores aren't everything. Miui is too complicated for my gf and I don't want mi cloud or the spying.
POCO is worth it still or wait 6months for f2?

The F2 is just going to be a refresh of a F1 but with a bigger screen and better cameras but still keep the same SOC. You are right Antutu scores are not everything but they are a good indication. You don't have to have Mi Cloud (I don't) and it really depends on where you are in the world or how much you believe Xiaomi are spying on you. All phones spy on you to some degree

If the phone is setup right then that shouldn't really bother anyone but it does for some reason.
I am pretty happy with PE in my poco. I came from Samsung J5 (2015) so i most be not that sensitive because I didn't notice any differences from miui for daily performance. The phone is bloody fast and responsive so I would say go for it for sure...

They promise too much with this phone and we are constantly told to wait for basic features. Let's just say we were promised dolby and qhd 60fps back in September still nothing.
Dolby soon
Netflix HD soon
Qhd 60 fps soon
1080p 60 fps soon
Best you wait for a version 2. Too many issues currently.
I wish I went for the oneplus 6 it's eis is perfect, not kidding it's 99% stabilizated you can see videos yourself VS this wobbly mess.
Currently there are 2 main problems on the custom roms, the EIS for Google camera doesn't work and once you watch a video in HDR your phone will be stuck in HDR mode until you restart it.

For Netflix you can install a modded version and have HD...
For videos you can use ported MIUI camera.
I would say go for it, worst case scenario, you sell your phone later and buy the F2, best case scenario you will see people just like to complain, for its price its so good.

PE rom for poco says "unofficial", lineage os 16 also is unofficial. In my whyred PE says official in title.
I just got pissed cuz poco came out like 3 weeks after I bought my redmi note 5, and I'd forsure have gotten it had it been out then.

If you were to change...

Hi folks I just shattered the screen of my Redmi Note 3 SD version (RN3). I had this phone since early 2016 and though it's still working and I could prolly do a service job on it for $50 and extend its life to a year or so I feel sticking to this phone any further wouldn't be to my advantage.
So I'm in the market for a new phone and I would really love to hear your precious advise so I may get the best available option for my hard earned bucks.
My budget is around $350. I'm not a brand fan boi, I don't mind going for unknown brands if the build quality is there. B/C with a good build quality you can get the best out of your phone under XDA. So when I go for a smartphone the features I pay attention to are:
1-If the phone can handle recent games. If a phone can handle recent games odds are high that it will perform well in everyday life.
2-It must have a great community under XDA so that if the manufacturers aren't arsed to push updates, you can still get the best out of your phone by for e.g flashing a custom rom or the Google cam or flash the latest security patch and so on.
3-The camera specs should be good (not expecting pixel3 stuffs or p30 results), but should be able to take good shots when I go on road trips.
Having said that, phones that have caught my eye so far are the Huawei Y9(2019 version) and the Xiaomi Poco Phone F1. So what do you lads think!
The Huawei Y9 is out as per your stated requirements as they don't even allow bootloader unlocking. There might be unofficial methods. Poco F1 looks to be the best choice but I don't know if the initial issues like backlight bleeding, touch latency etc have been fixed. Redmi Note 7 Pro is another decent option but the price difference between its 6GB model and Poco F1 base variant is too little. Realme has opened up BL unlocking but the pace of development doesn't seem very encouraging. Otherwise the Realme 3 Pro appears to pack solid hardware. Dunno when the Poco F2 will be launched.

Wait for Mi A3 . not sure its launching date. it is android one device. Bootloader unlocking is very easy for android one phone.
Updates will given by google and not xiaomi. Also u will get 3 android updates. Spec will be same like rn7 pro.
Or buy rn7 pro. It has QC 4.0 charging and 4000mah battery.
From Kenzo, I used Tissot which is Mi A1 and now lavender which is Redmi Note 7.
Redmi Note 7 aka lavender as of now has very minimal development going on based on xda threads available. But the good thing is that it supports treble so gsi will provide you with a lot of custom rom and me myself is using a GSI now. Violet aka Note 7 Pro on the other hand has a better development than lavender. It has great camera too considering you are using gcam to full utilize the camera and also lavender's camera is Greta as well but not as good as violet. Lavender has Snapdragon 660 and violet has Snapdragon 675.

Can anyone recommend a better phone for €240?

It's nearly Christmas and I'm looking for a gift for my mum. For the past 4 years she's been using a Samsung Galaxy s3 and has been reluctant to upgrade, though at this point it's become so temperamental that Santa's gonna put his foot down and get her a new phone
I love my pocophone, she loves the photos I take with it and I've got a chunk of cash burning a hole in my pocket. I've seen the 128 gb version new for €240 which seems a no brainer
MIUI is no harder to use than the antiquated junk on her s3 and she'll love the 2 day battery life
My question to you good people is:
I haven't been watching the other phones on the market. Is there anything that competes seriously in the same price range? I'd rather not get her anything second hand as Santa still doesn't recycle, surprisingly enough
Thanks for any suggestions
I was hoping for the note 10 / cc9 pro but I'd say other than the camera it is worse and costs 450€, like wtf. The only thing which the poco is lacking in my opinion is nfc. If she is not going to use it she'll be perfectly fine with the phone. Ah and ghost touches. Lets hope that there are no fts panels around anymore or whatever the reason for that is.
I would say the Poco F1 might be overkill. Go checkout the Redmi Note 7 or Redmi Note 8 plenty fast and also very good camera. Might be a bit cheaper and will work just as good.

If she has an S3 now she will be over the moon with the Redmi Note 7 or 8 camera, my colleague was really happy with the pictures. A serious advantage over the S3 in darker wintertime etc. Also the speed of the camera is a lot faster. You can also install Gcam on them without rooting or modding them which is also great if you want to get her into photography.
When it comes down to battery life, yup, both phones are really amazing.
I also own a Redmi Note 5 pro and to be honest and fair, the processor in the Poco F1 is overkill for what I do. The Redmi Note 5 already handles everything more than fast enough without any waiting. Click and it's there, no frustration or lag. The 7 and 8 even have faster cpu's so no worries on that front.
Just some advice if you buy for your mother (my mother has a Redmi Note 5 pro also, guess how that happened ). What I did was order a glass screen protector and some cases. I guess for 20 euro on Aliexpress you are more than settled. Giving her the phone is really nice but giving it completely protected and usable is a must and she will really like that.
Redmi Note 8 pro or Mi 9 lite
I followed the above recommendations and bought a Redmi note 8
It arrived this week
It's great! She's gonna love it!
(Unfortunately I got it from an AliExpress seller meaning I was hit for another chunk of vat - should have bought it from eglobalcentral where I got my f1; they ship from within the eu)
Thanks for the advice peeps!
Interesting to note the feel of it - felt at least as well put together as my pocophone. Obviously a tiny bit of lag noticeable here and there, but it was minimal - though I saved it the burden of trying PUBG on it!
fones €240
Realme note 5 pro
Nokia 6.x
Mi8
xiaomi A3 (but ram is only 4gb , however xiaomi Cc9e chinese version has 6gb, camera result is not so good)
y7 (amazing camera)
and ofcourse
Galaxy M30 ! (or if you can go €300) (m30s 6/128 variant is something you should seriously check out)
Go with Redmi Note 8 Pro
As i strongly believe she doesn't require anything like Snapdragon 845

Should I get the Redmi Note 9s if i want to unlock/root/flash ROMs onto it? 4 or 6GB?

Hello!
I'm need a new phone ASAP since my last one died a few days back, my intention is to use it for a few years and eventually once the updates sto and the phone starts slowing down, unlock the bootloader, root the device, flash TWRP and get strated with some ROMs.
Is Redmi Note 9s a good choice considering this?
Is the 4GB version good enough or would the upgrade to 6gb be substantialy noticable and worth it? (I initially wanted to get the 8T but it's only ~$25 upgrade to go with the 4gb 9s instead and over $75 for the 9s in the 6gb version.)
I also considered the Note 8T and 8 Pro.
From what I've read it seems that the 8 Pro is the best of the budget Xiaomi phones but it's the most problematic one with a big potential to get bricked.
The 8T would also probably be fine, but it's a very small difference in price between it and the 4gb version of the 9S which seems to be better in every way.
The 9S seems to have great potential for modding, with easily unlockable bootloader and a Snapdragon that afaik doesn't like to brick itself like the mediatek in the 8 Pro does.
9 Pro is a bit pricy for me, and it seems like tehe only difference is the NFC that i don't need.
What do you guys think i should get?
I'm sorry if this is not the right place to ask but since it's a forum dedicated to the development for a phone i consider buying with modding in mind i think it fits here nicely.
I think your best choice right now is the Note 8/8T. It have time on the market, so it have a mature scene of development. The Note 9S is new on the market, and also comes with Android 10 preinstalled, that means there is no official TWRP available and so means less development. Also the Note 8/8T have a Snapdragon SoC, best choice for modding compared to MediaTek on the RN8 Pro. Finally, the RN9S have some bugs that isn't resolved, and we don't know if they are hardware or software bugs, because Xiaomi isn't capable of fixing it, even with a couple of software updates. (wifi on sleep bug, pocket mode bug, bluetooth volume bug)

Was in OP's situation with my LG G5, went for the 9S Global. Has all the bugs you listed and MIUI is aggravating as all heck. I came from LOS 17 and I appreciate the hardware. I think it'll sell a lot and those bugs will be fixed, but I don't think I will wait much before moving to a GSI - Project Treble, man!

Yeah, I'm also thinking of install GSI ROM by Sooti, but it very annoys me, because isn't right to unlock and mod a month-old device. That really speaks bad about Xiaomi, I think the aggresive phone launching cycle (10 or 20 only the first half of this year!) is affecting the quality control.

You are in the same situation I was in, I finally decided on the 9s for precisely the same reasons that you say. Good choice (I bought 4gb versión, I think 6Gb will do lightly better, but unless its price is similar, I don't think it's worth it
