[Q] Witch "Camera mod" to choose?

Hello, this is my first post on XDA
in the "Development" section I've read about a camera mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104051.
It add some good feature to the camera stock app like:
Records Audio in 192kbps/44.1Khz quality (CD Quality) rather than stock (64kbps/16khz quality)
Increased Video Bitrate in 1080 and 720p modes* (See 2nd post for info and download link for this version)
I would to try this hack, but I am confused on witch APK to download and use, the Potatoman and the hyperX-'s release are identical or not?
i believe there is only one mod as of right now. The mod you posted above is based off of the original and does nothing but improve the camera. Safe to say this is THE mod to use my friend!

Thank you!
So I can download the modded APK from here without problems? Is it THE mod?
You can dl it from here or glash one of the fantastic roms that have it included.
Now I am trying to install the camera hack on my phone, I renamed the original Camera.apk in Campera.apk.bak and copied the hacked Camera.apk in /system/app, but when I try to execute it to install, the installation starts but it ends with message "Application not installed", why?
What'is my error?
I use Root Explorer...
You don't have to install it after copying to system/app, just copy, then set permissions correct and reboot..

Thank you, now I try, but witch are the correct permissions?!?
EDIT: I set permissions to rx-r--r-- like the original app, now it seems work!
I recorded a video at 720p with the hacked Camera.apk, I controlled media info with VLC and with Windows Explorer "Property->Details" tab, the value they show are 11880 kbps for the video bitrate and 16 kHz, 60 kbps, mono for audio. I think that there are the value for a video recorded with default app, or not?
Help pleaseee!!!
hey, i am trying to hack my camera too, how do you move the camera.apk to system/app if i have it in my file/download, thanks

Mount the filesystem in R/W mode (read and write), default setting is RO (read only), use the button in the upper side of the screen.
i know this step, i mean, how do you paste the .apk to system/app from the bluetooth folder in my file? because i use bluetooth to transfer the .apk into my phone, but i have no idea how to paste it into root explorer, seems like i can only move it around to those folders in my file. i know i am such a noob, sorry for asking so many silly questions.

You must navigate throught your phone's filesystem with Root Explorer, find the folder where the file Camera.apk is (I think it is /sdcard/bluetooth) copy the file and paste it in /system/app (all operation of copy/move/paste are possible with Root Explorer).
I hope I help you, I'm Italian and I'm not a native speaker of English...
i am not native english speaker either, haha
i am from Hong Kong
i am gonna try it, but i messed it up this afternoon and i had to reset everything on my phone lol because the camera didn't work

I flashed your zip, and the boot sound works. I wanted to make my custom bootanimation with PSX boot sound, so i put bootanim.mp3 inside bootanimation.zip but it doesn't play the sound ;/ I checked your bootanim.mp3 and it is 128kbps so i converted mine to 128kbps too but it doesn't work as well. Can you tell me the way to make that boot sound working?

Boot-up animation:
1) download a new boot animation .zip file (I put mine in /sdcard/downloads)
2) open Root Explorer
3) navigate to where you put the new .zip
4) copy the new .zip
5) paste it into /data/local
6) rename it "bootanimation.zip." (if it isn't already)
Also, if you want to change the startup/shutdown sounds:
Startup sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to a .wav file (using Winamp+.wav converter/iTunes)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/etc
6) rename "PowerOn.wav" to "PowerOn.wav.old"
7) navigate to where you placed the DL'ed .wav file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/etc
10) rename it "PowerOn.wav"
Shutdown sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to .ogg file (I used Winamp+.ogg converter)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
6) rename "shutdown.ogg" to "shutdown.ogg.old"

Hello, first sorry for my english, im from Argentina.
I can't add sound to my bootanimation, I have a Xperia "U". In /system/etc i haven't got "PowerOn.wav", however I put my downloaded wav file in that folder, and i have called "PowerOn.wav". Nevertheless it doesn't work.
I tried to modify my bootanimation.zip but it's different from yours (3D sony.zip), it has more files inside. Watch it on your own: www mediafire com/?x003h0090c0s069
What I have to do to make it work? How do I have to modify my file? Ty.

Hi
Please when creating mp3 file the file name must be bootanim.mp3 and make sure when you put it in the bootanimation.zip file use the store option for the compression method and to add images just replace the *.jpg files in the part0 folder in the bootanimation.zip file also. your file names for the images must be in sequence eg. image01.jpg, image02.jpg etc...
hi
There is no music when turned on, in what could be the problem?

Set your own picture after boot animation

Hello friends, i am here to share a tutorial for setting you own photo(or any) at startup. This image will appear after the boot image and animation so, you don't need to worry about loosing your favourite boot image and animation.
ROOT REQUIRED and any root browser that can copy paste in root folder.
I HAVE USED IT ON STOCK ROM ONLY IF IT WORKS FOR CUSTOM ROMS, PLEASE DO SHARE
For rooting and and cwm go to below link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292971
Request: please make a proper backup with cwm/twrp..
Steps :
1) firstly choose a picture that you want to use and edit it in you own style i edited my photo with Picsart photo editor and used some text.photo should be in 720×1280 resolution*.
2) open your root browser and got to system > media
You'll find a file named "bootanimation".
3) copy that zip in your sd card. Now open it,there will be two folders named part0 and part1. The part0 folder is boot animation so leave it that way.if you don't have part1 folder, make one.
4)Now rename the photo that you want to use as "056.png" and paste it in part1 folder.
5) finally replace the modified bootanimation.zip with original one**.
*to get your desired photo in 720×1280 ratio, view your photo in full screen mode, adjust it as you desire and take a screen snap.the sceen snap photo will be in 720×1280 ratio.
**Keep a copy of original bootanimation.zip for future use.
yup.... if a prsn opns dat zip fyl... he can easily undrstand da method
Sent from my A116 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i have tested this long time ago on stock and custom both failed...
instead of that use gif2bootanimation it works like charm and it's cwm method..:good:

[MOD] L600 Sprint Mega Flashlight Toggle Mod TW 4.4.2 [KK]

Flashlight Quick Toggle Mod TW 4.4.2 NE4 ( De-Odexed )
This mod was made for the Sprint L600 Mega and is for the STOCK TW ROM 4.4.2 NE4. I do not recommend flashing to a Custom Rom as the ROM may contain other special permissions/policies ( if added ) that the Rom Developer may have implemented or even may have been required to add so the Custom Rom may run or function properly.
DISCLAIMER:
By YOU, the USER, flashing this file or manually pasting to modify your Android System, YOU understand and know what YOU are doing. I nor anyone will be held liable nor responsible for YOUR doing if your phone bricks. As always, as is suggested by many and myself, please make sure you perform a complete
NANDROID BACKUP
before flashing and/or modifying your OS or the mentioned stock .jar file. I also suggest YOU keep a separate copy of the stock .jar file handy, like in your External SDcard, if the phone decides not to boot up. Knowing this, YOU assume all responsibility for what happens as YOU, the USER, know and comprehend what YOU are doing and understand the consequences or severity of damages that can be brought to your device by flashing or modifying your OS incorrectly.
You Have Been Warned !!
What's Needed/Recommended:
Rooted Devise ( to extract the needed files Manually for backup )
Custom Recovery ( TWRP or CWMR/PhilZ for Flashing the ZIP )
Aroma File Browser/Explorer ( type browser in CWMR/PhilZ Recovery to manually move the files )
If you can do it via ADB Commands then all power to you.....
I am providing BOTH stock Modded Sprint ( SystemUI.apk ) and ( SecSettings.apk ) files below.
Flashlight Toggle Zip Flashable zip ( Tested - Not working - Removed )
SecSettings.apk
SystemUI.apk

What To Do:
You have two choices on installing the .apk files. You can either Flash the ZIP in your Custom Recovery or you can use some form of File Explorer via in Custom Recovery ( like the Aroma File Explorer for CWMR ) or other means to copy & paste or push the .apk files to system/priv-app/. If you decide to do this manually, you will then need to set the file permissions to the modified apk files to 0644 and/or check mark off as the picture provided below shows using the method chosen through the root permissions it provides. You can rename the stock .apk files with " .bak " at the end so you don't have to delete them from the priv-app folder if you so choose. You will also need to add the “Flashlight” value in your settings.db file located in data\data\com.android.providers.settings\databases described in the link here . After just clear " cache " and " dalvik cache"ONLY after flashing or manually pasting the mod if you so choose.
Words of caution.....if you attempt to do this manually and are still actively booted in your Android OS while modifying or deleting the .apk file/s, there may be a chance that your phone will immediately reboot and you will not be able to boot into the OS and remain stuck as the apk’s is/are no longer visible to your OS. This is why you need to do this before booting up like in recovery.
Other Galaxy Mega Variants - Disclaimer:
I do not know if this will work on other carriers/models as they all are different and can or will have different permissions/policies set forth so you will be trying at your own risk. The .apk files are easily modified and the required files are easily found by searching the forums as I have. If these .apk file worked for a different Samsung Galaxy Mega devise then please advise me and give proper credit. Use, extract, exhume, etc the files as you choose or please. Oh nice. Was it the same as the Note 2 or Galaxy S4/5? Also was this on KK NE4 and do you mind sharing the services.jar file from your Mega?
The HotSpot Mod should not affect the flashlight quick toggle. You did also edit the setting.db file as well correct and add Flashlight; to the line right?

Thank you sir. I will look into modding the services.jar for this. Also there should not be a problem for you to push these to your system, set permission to the files and then reboot. Also have to make sure you modify your settings.db file so it will show up in your toggles.

Enable Hidden Features on A750FN/DS [Oreo](24.06.19)

Iam not a good thread maker so i will try to write everything as simple as i can.
Few days ago i bought and switched to A7 2018 from A5 2017, which was/is still an excellent phone to me.
On A5 i was on Oreo and on A7 i am and will be still on Oreo. Not planning to test this on Pie, but be my guest and try it on Pie, some stuff should work. Report if it does.
On A5 i made a similar thread to enable some features, but it was much easier to do because i had a CSC folder instead of ODM folder which has some files encrypted and you need them decrypted to proceed. And there is no flashable zip, you will need to do all on your phone, except decrepitng some files which you will need to do on your pc, and then put back and overwrite the same files on your phone and give necessary permissions.
First of all iam not a developer and i dont know anything about developing.
This is just enabling some features that were allready there in the phone through some lines on some files in ODM/OMC folder and some lines implemented in the stock floating_feature.xml file.
Never delete floating_features.xml file from your phones etc folder and dont touch permissions (0644), or your phone wont boot up. You just need to edit them and save.
Iv tested only on stock A750FNXXU1ASA4 OREO, which was only rooted and nothing else was modified.
The features you should get if everything goes right are:
1. Floating messages (option in Advanced features)
2. Record calls in (phone options)
3. Show network speed (option in status bar)
4. Data Usage Notification (option in data usage)
5. Camera Shutter sound on/of (in camera options)
6. ScreenRecord (options accessible from QPannel and Advanced Features)
7. S Bike Mod
8. Places option on keypad
9. Caller ID spam protection (in phone option)
9. LiveMessages in samsung keyboard
10. S PowerPlanning (Device Maintenance/battery)
11. HomeMode(screensaver option)
12. S Pen features( needed if you ever find working AirCommand).
13. In Samsung video options, but in option that apear when you press play on video,
you should see Video Enhancer option. Download Samsung video from Galaxy apps.
14. Multiuser support
15. Dolby Atmos dual speaker (works with speaker not just with earphones)
Anyway...
I f you dont know anything about floating_features.xml or bulid.prop or ODM/OMC folders and editing them, then dont try this beacuse I won't be held accountable if something happens to your phone if you loose your data or go into bootloop! So Dont Forget to Backup your Phone!
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.You have to be ROOTED offcourse and have a file manager like RootExplorer or simillar.
2. Now you need to copy from root of your phone two files from your contry ODM/OMC folder that your phone/SIMcard uses. It must be from your contrys ODM/OMC folder no other ones. The files are cscfeature.xml and cscfeature_network.xml After you decrypt them put them back in your phone and overwrite the ones inside your contry ODM/OMC folder and give permission 0644.
After that open in text editor with your Root Explorer cscfeature.xml file and on the bottom insert the lines that you can see in the attachment, then save and restart the phone.
To decrypt cscfeature.xml files follow this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/decode-encode-omc-files-omc-decoder-t3791471
3. Now open your floating_feature.xml which is located in system/etc folder and just edit/enter on the bottom of the file lines that you can see in the attachment, save and restart the phone. Dont do nothing else with this file just insert the lines then save and restart the phone. If you delete it you will go in to bootloop.
4. Now open your build.prop and on the bottom of the file enter lines that you can see in the attachment, save and restart the phone.
5. Now copy all files in system from the attachment and put them in their corresponding places.
Give perrmission for folder 0755 and 0644 for files.
Thats it!
I hope it works for you like it did for me.
Il try to answer any questions, when i have free time.
And if you all have problems doing this i will make a video tutorial when i have free time.
Does this tutorial applies to a7 2018 with android pie? I mean do I have to decrypt those files? I just want to enable call recording.

Okay upload the file. Will decrypt it if i got some time tomorrow. Easiest way is by using firefds xposed module. Youll see call recording setting under phone section.
So can I enable only call recording without decrypting those files? I've did it on my s8, just copied the csc code into build.prop...it will work on this device too?
Some more features if anybody is interested.
Its for Pie
