No, an update will not relock the bootloader. As i did for my poco f1 MIUI!
For an Huawei device, it does when you upgrade your device to EMUI10 or above. And the bootloader will not be unlockable via fastboot commands then. Downgrading to EMUI9.x is the only way to reunlock the bootloader currently.

Hi,
I was in stock IO limited 3.1 and flashed Task 7.1 first and Overcome ROM (latest) to give it a try.
After Overcome I realized that I had no longer access to fastboot option in bootloader, only revocery and odin. I think the problem came here:
http://p7510.teamovercome.net/?page_id=18
http://p7510.teamovercome.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/odin2.png
Also I lost nvflash posibility, getting rmc 0x4 error all the time (guess it is locked)
Is there anyway to get fastboot back? or to unlock bootloader so I can get trough nvflash?
Now I am trying this threat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119492
But cannot get fastboot or nvflash to work
Thanks in advance
i will be waiting for an answer as well. My bootloader was locked by the touchwiz update

AFAIK we cannot unlock a locked bootloader as of now. And why do you need an unlocked bootloader?

What I want is fastboot and not recovery in bootloader, and with a locked bootloader cannot use nvflash in case anything goes wrong.

to unlock your bootloader you have to use the method made for your bootloader, if there is one.
downgrade is only possible while s-off, btw.

Hi. Many thanks. I used sunshine to unlock and s-off. When I open sunshine again it says it's already rooted and I can't unlock bootloader. Any idea?

if you used sunshine s-off, you are already able to downgrade. if you are s-off with that method, and most others, you dont need to relock to downgrade. just flash ruu through fastboot. for that issue, contact sunshine. never been in that situation but you should still downgrade if S-OFF'ed.
Hi, I awant to root my H901 by unlocking bootloader (V20J). However, my concern is can it be locked again as I will sell it after a month or so and I don't want any bootloader unlock alert at startup? Has anyone tried to relock? Plz let me know, thanks.

To relock the bootloader follow the following instructions:
Put your phone under the fastboot mode
enter the following commands: fastboot oem lock
Keep in mind that while your boot-loader is locked, you will not be able to root or flash ROMs to your phone.

Thanks. Yes I can unlock the bootloader again to gain root but I have read in unlock thread guide that relocking might have unknown results. Have you or anyone else tried relocking personally?

You should not re-lock you bootloader if you have root but if you are going to trade in your phone or sell it then you should definitely re-lock your bootloader after you flash a stock ROM.
Bump..... Anyone successfully relocked bootloader without any error and got rid of unlocked bootloader at startup?

relock with MIUI 10 Global Beta installed?
@smokin901 @AkkiV
-When unlocking, does the hard reset occur? (factory reset, or reset data)
No, unlike unlocking HTC, Motorola ... unlocking occurs without loss of data but if the data on the phone is encrypted, you must first disable the encryption, otherwise the data will be lost. Then unblock and you can turn on encryption again. Exceptions are Mi6, Mi Note 3, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2s. They have a complete discharge. And it looks like this trend applies to all fresh models.

Does this apply after relocking?
It is better to opt for encryption since in Mi devices unlock won't erase my personal data...?

For example Mi 8 Chinese Ver. if you want to relocking bootloader from Chinese Vers. you have to flash Chinese ROM, if you flash Global ROM in Chinese Ver. device, you may brick your device.

Apparently we can with unlocked bootloader...

You can claim warranty with bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed, rooted and with custom ROM. Water damage will result in no warranty.

AFAIK, warranty for Xiaomi devices remains intact even if you unlock the bootloader.
Obviously you can lick your Bootloader if YOU'RE ON THE STOCK ROM.
You can flash the stock rom with fastboot and select
Clean flash and lock
And your Bootloader will be locked.

Why do you want to lock? It is better to remain unlocked once you have unlocked. In the event of you deciding to flash a custom ROM, you have to unlock again and your data partition will be wiped.

Dirty flash your stock ROM through the Mi Flash Tool. There is an option to lock the bootloader.
Hi, i bought a p20 lite ANE-LX3 with android 8 (security patch April 1, 2018). Unlock my device's bootloader with HCU and now I want to install a custom rom, how can I upgrade from EMUI 8 to 9 without losing the bootloader or losing root?
All I want is to have AOSP 10 on a HUAWEI P20 LITE ANE-LX3.
thanks.

So you have bootloader unlock code and you can use it even after upgrading to emui 9.1. Each bootloader code is permanent, it wont expire. You can use the same bootloader code to unlock if your device is relocked for some reasons.
You can upgrade via OTA update (will not relock the bootloader) or flashing Service ROM using dload method (it will lock the bootloader).
