Does anybody know if AOD is working properly on global version ??? I've read some post complaining about it but it was the CN version, not the global. The issue seems to be that AOD turns off itself in a few seconds.

Hey, have you had any problems with Clock or alarms in general? I haven't managed to set my phone (global from Giztop) to fire the alarms in the morning and I have tried a lot of things)

This seems to be a bug. The alarm is disabled as soon as you close the clock app, but if you restart the phone it will enable the alarm again. As long you don't open the clock app again the alarm will work properly. If you need to change it you will have to restart the phone again.

I solved it that i disabled battery optimalization for alarm app (using Sleep as android) and when u have "recents" catch and hold Alarm application and move it down - u will see that app is locked and u not gonna (or system won't) kill that app... check screen

My phone is special then because disabling battery optimization doesn't change a thing in the "locking" of the app. I can lock and unlock through dragging it down as you said, and I can still manually kill locked apps. However, I believe I solved the issue with a workaround. I installed an alarm app from Play Story, and I think the gaming mode and/or clean ram was killing almost all apps, so after gaming and before going to sleep I tried opening the alarm app and then send it to the background. And it indeed worked. Not sure if all the hundreds of things I did before mattered though so if anyone wants to know just ask.

Thanks for all your posts in this forum it helped choose the phone before creating an account here. Though the phone software has lots of little annoying things. The one that I want to ask you now is about the half second flicker EVERY time i unlock the phone (fingerprint/pin doesn't matter). It seems it wants to open the default wallpaper from the theme and then rapidly switches back to my wallpaper. Do you have this problem, if so did you manage to solve it? I'm gradually getting used to it sadly but I'd rather have a more smoother unlocking experience. Cheers.

I haven't had that problem since I do just use one of the default wallpapers.

I'm just disable security app via adb to protect from killing any non system background apps like live wallpaper, adblocker, google pay etc.
pm disable-user --user 0 com.zui.safecenter
P.s. disabling security app will also disable installing apk from unknown sources, will give you security check loop that never end. To install APK you need to enable it again
pm enable --user 0 com.zui.safecenter
I'm just use LADB app to make this actions without PC.

Hi,
I have noticed a bug where alarm does not give neither audible nor visual notification while do not disturb mode is on with alarms exception. This was tested on 119 and 128 firmware.
Could anyone test this for me so I know this is not just me?
Regards
Mario

Working fine here on 124 UK firmware.
Have you altered a setting in this screen?
Thanks mad.jack10 for testing this.

Yes I do, however it does not make any difference if I switch it off. I have reset the clock app even
UPDATE: OK, clearing the cache partition seems to fix the issue

On my side, since few days, on my new MATE10PRO, the alarm notification is always SET ON event if I've no alarm set...I've set ALARM off and on, I've resetted clock app, I've cleared cache partition...nothing works. Do you have any idea ?
Use the Google Clock (download from PlayStore). instead of the native Huawei alarm clock. Make sure you enable all the battery settings under battery / start, enable all the notifications (including making it a priority app) and disable battery optimizations under apps / special access.
Too much work for a simple alarm functionality!! I just got a Mate 10 pro. Not set it up yet. Going through the threads make me wonder if I made the right decision.
Huawei has always been and still kinda is about great hardware (or alternatively good hardware for not so much money) but weird software. Some software features are really great (better than stock Android even: screenshots, gestures, plenty of options in the settings, display color modes, app lock, one handed navigation etc.) but others are just worse than on other phones (e.g. lack of all the smart unlock options, battery saving features preventing widgets from updating or apps from staying open etc., lockscreen notifications not expanding etc). You really have to pay attention to the settings with Huawei phones, especially if its about power saving features because they tend to close apps rather than keeping them open. One thing that EMUI already does better than pretty much any other system (Samsung, LG etc. - except Stock Android) is that it's very smooth and fast and stays fast for a very long time (unlike Samsung phones). Hope this helps with deciding whether you want to keep the phone.

Hey there. Just want to help you guys in case you suffer from poor battery life. Just follow the steps below to get the most of your battery life without using any 3rd party app or even rooting your Android! Believe me, you will be amazed at the results.
From novice newcomers to ace Android enthusiasts, this is for all.
--------------- APPLIES FOR NON-ROOT + ROOT -------------
My TIPS, non-root and no 3rd party app required.
*Keep your location permission off as much as possible. I mean use only when required using that quick toggle on the QS tile. And then grant that permission only to the apps you really need. Check the permission list and you will find many apps having that permission for absolutely no reason and that counts! I found that the Google app's gonna drain a lot with location on. So I turned off for it as well as the play services! Your preference might vary!
Go to : Settings - Security & Location
*Totally disable the Google Location History for all the Google accounts you have logged in to on your Android. What it does is that it keeps record of your location from time to time in background which results in drain!
Go to : Settings - Security & Location - Location - Google Location History
*Okay Google hotword from ANY SCREEN in the Google app DISABLED! Well, I think I needn't describe. Just keeping it on results in a significant battery drain!
Go to : Google - Settings - Voice - Voice match
*Background sync totally turned off. That quick QS tile for sync is not available in this ROm yet. Don't know why! But that doesn't mean you keep that Auto-sync on. Who needs to refresh every hour! I totally disable to Auto-sync of Google apps. You can see there as well that turning it off saves battery, mate!
Go to : Settings - Users and Accounts - Automatically sync data (In older versions, tap the menu in the right side and turn it off there)
*System animation down to 0.5 for all three options out there in Developer options. Not only this speeds up the whole thing, but also ensures more juice at the cost of less animations!
Go to : Settings - System - Developer Options - Drawing
*Keep your eyes on Bluetooth and WiFi toggles. Ensure that they are OFF WHEN YOU DON'T NEED THEM. SAME WITH DATA AS WELL!
Go to : Nowhere. They are in your notification shade!
*Ensure that WiFi and Bluetooth scanning are turned OFF in the location settings. They will just eat away the battery life.
Go to : Settings - Security & Location - Location - Scanning
*Under display, turn off the screen saver. You'll never need it!
Go to : Settings - Display - Screensaver
*Turn off Ambiant display there as well! We don't have Amoled display on our Land. So it drains our battery! Simple as that.
Go to : Settings - Display - Ambiant Display
*If possible (I am okay with this) turn off Adaptive brightness when you are at home or don't need it to get charged frequently. There is an option to add a quick toggle right next to the brightness bar in the notification shade. I never turn on the adaptive-brightness. It sure helps save some juice as well!
Go to : Settings - Display - Adaptive Brightness
To add that quick toggle on notification shade,
Go to : Settings - Personalization - Quick settings - Turn on both brightness slider and icon.
*Set it to sleep in between 15-30 seconds of inactivity. Cause screen is the biggest water of battery itself. Those tiny changes do count in the final battery life. In case you are reading sth, the Caffeine feature has got your back!
Go to : Settings - Display - Sleep
*Controlling your display brightness manually will really help bro. Just keep it at the bare minimum yet comfortable. In evening, I perfectly fine with brightness level of 7%. Why bother turning on Adaptive-brightness?
Go to : Brightness slider in notification shade.
*Night light. Just set time or leave it as is. Use the QS tile toggle it on or off when required! Choosing sunset to sunrise needs your location and you know what I am referring to next!
Go to : Settings - Display - Night Light
For the quick toggle, press the edit button on your notification shade. Add that from there.
*Screen Orientation. Yup, keep this in check. Never turn on auto-rotate. You don't even need to! What it does that it keeps using sensor to know the device orientation, thus using more battery! You cannot always toggle it on there. But don't keep it on when you don't need!
Go to : Your notification shade.
*Disable or uninstall the apps you don't use! And which apps keep eating your battery on background (i.e Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc), deny them from doing so on the application settings. Toggling off their background usage will enforce them to just do the bare minimum instead of just killing battery adruptly! Do the same with App Data Usage option as well! Deny them from using data in background. You can always open the app to use.
Go to : Settings - Apps and notifications.
*Turn off notifications for the apps you don't need to show up! Accept this. There are many apps on your land, whose notification don't really matter to you! That saves you battery.
Go to : Settings - Apps and notifications.
*Turn off the vibrations everywhere! I have turned off keyboard vibrations. Navigation button vibrations. And have turned off vibrations for the notification of any app. Be it any app, I don't need my land to vibrate for a notification! It sure saves the juice.
Go to : Settings - Sound - Advanced - Vibrate on tap.
Disable app notification vibrations individually.
*Use as less widgets as possible on your launcher! More widgets means more BG activity for information update which ultimately results in battery drain! And yes, don't forget to set a static wallpaper in case you use a live one! Why? You use more energy while running or standing?
Go to : Your app launcher.
*Use CCleaner for cleaning purpose. I recommend it. Cache cleanings is all you need. And please, please never kill apps or use Clean master or apps like that. In the name of RAM cleaning, cooling they kill the running processes. Which never helps actually. When you need the app again, they will consume battery life to launch. Think of repairing a little motherboard with damaged RAM and purchasing a whole new one! Which needs more money?!
Go to : Google Play store - CCleaner
*Turn off weather on Lock screen if you have it turned on. You know why? It needs your location!
Go to : I won't tell. Because it's off by default. If you have it on, then you know it already!
*Use lite versions of the social, shopping or whatever apps you need (i.e. Facebook Lite instead of Facebook, Messenger Lite instead of Messenger, Flipkart Lite). Lite apps need less horsepower, less resources, less storage and ultimately less battery! Those instant apps are handy as well!
*Finally, blocking ads sure saves your data, time and battery. Try AdGuard once you will be amazed!
Go to : www.AdGuard.com
If you want it free, PM me. I can't provide the mod link here. Any mod for that app is for educational purpose.
For YouTube video ads, use this mod-
*YouTube iYTBP mod with MicroG-
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1RNk38edZgHvNlJ5TN3jkSImox4BJOC2P?usp=sharingno
Uninstall the official YouTube first. You will never need that again!
Then install the modded YouTube, don't open it yet Install MicroG. Then open the modded YouTube and login n enjoy!
That's all mates Never thought that this list was gonna this big. But I just kept writing! Love to help others. Please do all I have told above and the results will be there. One more thing, I've not rooted my phone. I've the 2 GB variant so on rooting, I run out of RAM and the system crawls down! I don't use Greenify. Doze on Oreo is more than good to make me forget that app. Absolute zero drain on sleep! I love Oreo.
Thanks a lot for reading this. Hope it helps! If you like it, give it a thumbs up! I'll appreciate. Any doubt? Just ask below. I will reply ASAP!
Below goes some SS of my SOT with above settings in which Data was on all the time!

If you use it very frequently and need to get all the messages from your friends in time, then you shouldn't. And if you don't need those notifications to hang out there in the notification shade and see the messages only when you want to see them and respond, then you should disable BG activity. ?
In my case, I have it disabled.
For Google, go to the settings - voice - voice match.
There, ensure that "say Ok Google anytime is disabled!
For weather, go to settings - personalization - Lock screen - weather. Ensure that it's off. I asked to turn it off if it has been turned on. It's off by default though.

May be you will find the ultimate reason behind this drain. Back up your WhatsApp on phone. Don't forget to backup your WhatsApp folder in your internal storage on your SD card. After clean flashing, just put the WhatsApp folder back in internal storage. Then install WhatsApp. You won't need internet to restore your backup. As you are clean sweeping your internal storage, ensure you backup all your important things.. ?

Just what it says it does. My only problem with the Wear24 was keeping the screen on while debugging or charging. This app fixes that problem.
The latest update adds support to change screen brightness while charging. Make sure you grant settings permissions when it asks.

This changes both modes on the Wear24. I believe there is no way to manually trigger ambient mode, so I don't think I can do much with that. Does the Huawei watch have separate brightness settings? I may get out my Moto360 sport and see how it works on that.

If I'm correct, there is no option to set ambient mode brightness on Huawei Watch, and it's way too bright in my opinion...
Thanks for this. I use Google Pay so I'm required to use a lockscreen on my watch. Debugging apps over cable was a nightmare with constant turning of a screen and unlocking.
I only enabled Screen on while Debugging at first, but the screen won't turn off at all while the app is installed. ADB Debugging is off. Also, when Change Brightness is enabled, it changes the brightness when charging, but then does not set the brightness back to whatever it was after taking it off the charger.

Hey,
The debugging just checks to see if ADB is enabled using:
https://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.Global.html#ADB_ENABLED
To stop this behavior, you have to go into the developer settings and turn adb off or swipe away the locked on notification. I'd be welcome to change this if you know of a way to check if an Android device is actively being debugged.
I am not able to replicate the issue with the brightness being reset. I would suggest swiping away the notification if it is active before charging, then adjusting the brightness and placing it on the charger again to see if this fixes it.
Also, the charge functionality will not work on Android 8 devices since background services are not allowed to be started from a receiver like charging. I'd also change this if there is another way.

Since you haven't updated your Wear24 to 2.0, it will not appear on the play store. I decided not to support Wear 1 on the play store as this requires a mobile app and usually leads to lots of bad reviews from users who install it on their phone and don't see the app and the new method only works half the time which also causes bad reviews. The app should support the watch, but you will have to sideload it. search for "Watchwake apk" and you should be able to find it.

You can with AutoWear. The Brightness setting accepts values between 0 - 255. At night I set it to 51 (watch brightness level 1) and 204 during the day (watch brightness level 3).

This changes both modes on the Wear24. I believe there is no way to manually trigger ambient mode, so I don't think I can do much with that. Does the Huawei watch have separate brightness settings? I may get out my Moto360 sport and see how it works on that.

On my Wear24, this app works to reduce the brightness of the default blue charging display, but not the actual Ambient mode, which can in fact be triggered manually - after dismissing the default display, just smoosh your palm on the whole screen! (this still works while it's on the charger) - Doing that turns the brightness back up.
Would there be any way to detect when I do it while it's charging and turn the brightness back down where I set it?
I've noticed that no matter what setting I have it on, my tablet (M5 8.4) automatically lowers the screen brightness in Chrome and YouTube, but more noticeably in Chrome.
Any way to disable this?
Have you checked the setting menus?
Using Firefox might be a solution.
Also, Youtube in FF has background playback as long as you are using a desktop user agent.

I've checked every possible setting, and read online everywhere, but to no avail. It also dims in Firefox. It dims as soon as you go into the app. After an online search, I found many Huawei owners with EMUI 8.0 having this issue. There is one solution, but it requires root and I don't want to root my device after having it for a few hours.
Funny. Would love a solution as well as this is rather annoying
Do you guys have auto brightness turned on or off?
I never really experienced this issue, but I did observe strange brightness behavior before I began to keep auto brightness permanently enabled.
Doing a quick search, I saw one person say to turn auto brightness on, I saw one person say to make sure animations aren't disabled in dev options, some say unclick 'increase readability in sunlight' in dev options. I personally wonder if the stock launcher (which I don't use) maybe is set to override the brightness level.

I somehow doubt that. I am using Nova Pro and am experiencing some weird behavior when attached to the Keyboard ... (the dimming function mentioned here is, what I believe, the erroneous function, as it works quite nice when not attached to the keyboard ...
All "your" suggestions do not work - I find this "function" somewhat annoying, even without the keyboard-thing ...

may I get a link for the root-solution? I'd like to have a look at it ...
SO I forgot to mention: M5 Pro!

Well, I went through with it and rooted it. I tried the fix, and... it worked! After you're rooted, simply freeze the system process (I used Titanium Backup) called PowerGenius, reboot and no more forced-auto brightness dimming.

hmhm. I was quite sure it was a System process - since the "bug" (dunno whether you read the thread on keyboard and brightness ...) appears with the system-icon when in Desktop-Mode ...
Great. there is a fix for this. now I need a non-root fix ... :-/
Yes, try the app ilux. Let that control brightness.

Do you have a link to this app? I can't seem to find anything relevant when searching for ilux.
Just disable "power genius" this has worked for me. without root. No More auto dimming.
Disabling Power Genius will also get rid of issues involving bluetooth music playback, and will prevent apps like Google Maps from getting killed off semi-aggressively in the background (i.e. so when you map out driving directions you won't have to reenter the address as you get close to your destination).
Quick note: you have to reboot after disabling Power Genius. Merely disabling it won't immediately change anything.
Up until now I thought a reboot would bring the "wonderful" feature back ...
How comes that you mention a reboot is needed?
How do you disable it? I can only do a force stop
I'm not sure how to disable it without root (I imagine adb might work). With root, most use Titanium Backup to freeze it. I'm using Service Disabler to disable the associated services instead. Service Disabler is awesome if you are rooted, underrated app and great for EMUI because, for example, you can disable individual parts of the Tablet Manager app without breaking the features you want.
You might not need to reboot. When I initially froze it using Xposed Edge Pro, but didn't reboot, it didn't change anything for me. Could have been due to Xposed Edge Pro.

I cannot find Power Genius?
I can confirm following the above article will allow you to remove the power genius package from the Mediapad M5 8.4 on EUMI 9.1 without root.
Thank you sooooo much... You can't believe how annoying this was. No need to even reboot either and it doesn't return if you do.
Now I just need a way to too keep the custom 740DPI after reboot and this tablet will be perfect

Holey Light is a LED emulation app. It animates the edges of the camera cut-out (AKA punch-hole) as replacement for the sadly missing LED on many modern devices.
Additionally, it provides a notification display for when the screen is "off", replacing - or working in conjunction with - the Always-On Display feature. As this display is not around the camera hole, it is aptly named the Unholey Light.
Supports all Samsung devices with in-screen camera hole, and several Google Pixels.
Features
Emulates notification LED
Four different display modes: Swirl, Blink, Pie, Unholey Light
Configurable animation size, position, and speed
Customizable color for each notification channel
Selects initial notification color by analyzing dominant color of app icon
Displays during screen "off", sub-1% battery use per hour in Unholey Light mode
Separate configuration modes for different power and screen states
Ability to mark notifications as seen based on various triggers
Respects Do-Not-Disturb and AOD schedules
Can hide AOD completely, partially, and/or keep the clock visible
Additional AOD Helper package for further battery usage reduction
All teh details and all teh sauce!
It's all on GitHub!

Nothing pops up on my S10+ after permission needed 2/4 (link device). Are there any logs i could provide? Is there any way to link it manually?
Seems not working for me - S10.
I tried it and received some push notifications from telegram, Outlook and WhatsApp, but no holey light (nice name btw).

There's no selection dialog for a Wi-Fi network / Bluetooth device at all? Have you tried closing/reopening the app? Uninstalling/reinstalling it? Making sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both on and you're connected to something?
I do not know how to link the device/companion app manually, no. Until I needed it to work around a bug in the notification system, I didn't even know it existed.

Try un/reinstalling and rebooting.
I've seen others who use notification access comment it sometimes doesn't start, though I haven't encountered that behavior even once during testing.
Otherwise I don't know. Did you grant all the permissions? Did a device link pop up?
It could of course also be an internal crash. Check logcat.

Neither did I, hah! It actually shows Wi-Fi networks for me too, and selecting one of those worked just as well during testing, so I didn't think it'd matter.
thanks master for your app.
I'm using s10+ exinos and i just want to report that's working.
my device is charging and notification is working fine, got an email for testing. i hope it will work if device is using battery power and screen keeps off if notification comes in.
additional info if it's important: I'm using fingerprint, face and pin security.
thanks again

Hopefully soon, but I am quite busy with my day job at the moment, it may be a week or two!
Thanks!
Off screen show lights does not show.
i am charging my phone wirelessly and AOD is turned off.
on S10
Can't seem to get it running but I'm super excited about this. Maybe I need to ditch the Samsung edge Lighting
When I tried to perform permission needed 2/4 (link device), I cannot find any device name call "Holey Light" and I only can find the Bluetooth-enable device around me. Do I just need to choose one of them?

I found out that it's working for Gmail and Samsung's Stock Email app, even when locked.
WhatsApp works, but only when unlocked and only when status bar is visible (so not for full screen apps).
Does your app stops the phone from going into deep sleep?
hi,
what shall i need to do to step 2/4?

how did you passed step 2/4?
It's written in the description what to do. Link it to any Bluetooth or wifi nearby.

WhatsApp works fine for me, both locked and unlocked, so that's strange. What sort of full screen app did you test with? Might be Android hides the overlay when an app is fullscreen? Note it only works in portrait mode, there's no way to draw in the right place in landscape.
