[Q] Can I Flash SpeedMod Kernel on my SGS2

Hello
I'm new to this...
I was wondering if I can install the SpeedMod Kernel on my SGS2??
Why this Question:
When I rooted my decive with cf-root and odin I have chosen the Kernel with the same "version" my stock kernel had.
Now I'm not sure if I can install any sgs2 kernel (in this case SpeedMod) or if the "version" is important.
I think that all SGS2 Phones should have the same hardware so I sould be able to use any Kernel. Is that right?
What do I have to be aware of, when I choose a new kernel?
Thanks
Ditschi
Yes you can, don't worry about it. Versions don't care much after all.
Thanks a lot thought that. I'll flash he kernel tomorow.
But what im interested in:
When you say the version doesn't matter why are there so many versions of cf-root? Is'nt that a lot of extra work? Why not useing only one kernel?
Cheers
Ditschi
That's for people who want to stay as close as possible to stock.
The developers compile their kernel to work with any Samsung or TouchWiz based rom.
CF Root extracts the kernels from the specific rom, adds in the goodies and presents it to us for use to root the respective rom. So basically what you have is the stock kernel with root added among other things
ah ok...
That makes sense. Thanks a Lot for the help

Razer Phone Kernel Help

Hi guys
I hope somebody will be able to help me solve my only kernel issue I have at the moment. I have successfully compiled and installed the kernel on my phone with everything working except the camera flash I have looked over everything I can think of and can't seem to find the issue. On the stock kernel the flash works as it should but on the custom built one it's like it's not there this is what I get from my logs:
My kernel source is located here:
https://github.com/eoghan2t9/android_razor_cheryl
The commits are a tad all over the place while I've been experimenting so please excuse those lol
Thanks to anyone who can help solve this issue.

Root and install custom rom or only new kernel

Hi,
previously I was on Sony Xperia devices but now I switched to Samsung S9 +.
The first thing that struck me is the bad battery life.
I've been reading on how to solve this and I will at least do a full reset and clean install to see if this helps.
But if this does not help I want to know what to try next.
CUSTOM ROM
For what I have found the custom roms do not use the second camera and that's something I do not want to lose.
So are there Custom roms that keep the original functionality from the camera?
CUSTOM KERNEL
If installing a custom rom isn't the way to go, what about a customer kernel?
So far I found two of them
ElementalX
Nemesis
And there is one html with an explanation about the speed and battery usage of the Exynos chip.
https://www.anandtech.com/show/12620/improving-the-exynos-9810-galaxy-s9-part-2
There is speculation whether Samsung will do something about battery usage as there seems to be a solution if Samsung does some ROM changes.
For now I think installing a custom kernel is my best option but what about OTA.
Once rooted I will not receive them anymore, can I just download the now ROM from Samsung and install it over the existing one without resetting the phone?
And once the ROM is installed reinstall the custom kernel?
I'm open to other suggestions to improve battery life.
