Question Bonuses with the latest update - OPPO Find X3 Lite

I'm not going to reiterate what's been mentioned everywhere else and you've already read umpteen times, but....
Virgin Media clients now have VoLTE and WiFi calling available and active by default. Switches for these are also including in the phone settings, right where you'd expect them to be.
How about other networks? Have you seen any major changes?

HELP/Alert! New ALLTEL versions wont do wifi!?!?

This really really pi##es me off, as where I live I get 1x data, & usually use my home wireless (wifi).
Recieved the pro, and activated it. It seems disabled by being activated by alltel. I even stumped the blackberry adept person at the local store enough that they switched out the phone, I walked to next door (motel) used the free wireless (to prove the wireless would even function) then let him activate it and headed home (30+ miles into the wilderness). got home and again I cant get Crap wifi to work.
Home is wireless b, it connects, can be seen on the 'simple' 2 wire wireless appliance but the PRO, will not see or try to send data through it. turned off security and everything on the wireless for testing. I can check, but I know the pass for the motel, and I could try again, but am definitely sure that this AINT the issue--> again the phone wouldnt connect at the motel (least not the pre exchanged one) with me or the rep at Altel either, while it was activated and on alltel.
who to call? Any help out there?
my 6800 will still wifi, at anyplace there is a signal and that I know the passcodes or is open.
yes I asked this, at alltel-howard forums, but would think you guys here know more (on second thought, when I remembered about all the stuff you do here, I know I probably should've posted here 1st, but Im kinda mad at the moment!)
Pretty adept at computers, I do IS as my real job, anything I can do to help trouble shoot? yeah the 6800 has been flashed & I even noobed around with cooking a few time. appreciate any help you guys
i Have a touch pro and a touch diamond, both under 2 weeks old and the wifi works fine with both of them, maybe you should try a custom rom and see if they changes anything. but there is no reason it shouldnt work with the stock rom

goony,
Is it an Alltel? are you positive that wifi is working, not the "data" connection with alltel towers (cell call)? My proof is that if I goto my basment, I have no cell service so not any data connction, ONLY WIFI (that is where my wireless router is. that is when I found out the 1st time. Everything else looks right, on the phone it says it is connected, on the router I can see it on the connected devices list.
I have my issue that I believe, that it is some setting that Alltel is setting... like I said the phone would connect via wifi until the phone activated. When I activated (full unlimited data package is on this phone) the phone fully rebooted on its own, 3 times as if getting updated via data plan. Im not talking about the 1st time turn on customizations, those were done before I tested the wifi at the motel lobby... For instance, the volume control buttons - the display app were obviously modified, I am not positive what else was.
I'd LOVE to try custom rom, if I wasnt right in the period of time I can get my money back, or not. after that I will...
yes they are alltel, and to test the wifi i just connected it to my router and then turned of my alltel data and it stayed connected so i am positive the wifi works. you can still use a custom rom under your return period, if you want to return just relock it.
I wanted to double check myself sting to make sure i was realy getting wifi, so i connected and went to speedtest.net and did a speed test and sure enough it showed my isp as roadrunner(my home provider). Have you had this problem with multiple phones? are you checking the internet option when it connects? and do you have it diconnected from the pc? my wifi wont work on my diamond hooked to a pc.
Has nothing to do with alltel. Maybe with the rom or the phone. Now I hope you're not waiting for a pop up to show itself on the main screen asking if you want to connect because you could wait forever. Go to comm manager enable wifi/ go to start->settings->connections->wifi and make sure options are set to "all available." If you can even see wireless networks on the list, the wifi is functioning correctly and there is a router settings conflict. If you don't see networks on that list in wifi, then there is a rom/hardware problem.

Hey thanks!
But, it is the Stock shipped rom, I have my HTC 6800 right next to this one, connected and surfing the web, both show up when in the home WIFI router config as connected, yet the pro sends NO DATA to ie or opera, (cant locate any webpages) or any app that uses internet/data.Unless there is something I need to do with PRO that I never had to do with the 6800 (mogul) that I just flashed back to stock shipped rom, ready to sell on ebay...
what I dont know is, well, most of the people wifi to tether a laptop or something, I dont! Sure that will be neat in the future, but RIGHT NOW, Just I use WIFI when I am at home and dont even have signal or evdo near me... (remote locations that I live, the tower coverage sucks out here in ks...) Got to fix this soon, or this Beyotch is going back to alltel.
Another thing, this bad boy pulled this crap, as soon as alltel activated the device (so I could use it as my phone!) when it was NOT activated, the wifi worked (proven at the motel next door to the Alltel store I exchanged this phone). BTW, I was able to test it on the 1st phone shipped to me, while it was activated, it pulled the same thing, when he unactivated the phone, we could almost pickup the wifi from the motel next door (distance was the only issue I think now looking back) but seemed like a chip problem.
Where I got screwed was we believed the wifi to be bad on the 1st phone. So he got out a new phone, and before we activated it, I went and tested the wifi, it worked on the 2nd phone. I thought wall was fine, it worked. then I had him activate it, assuming that proved I will be able to use the wifi. So I leave the store thinking OK wifi works. I get home, and again unable to use my home networking wifi to open web or apps. unacceptable. Yet the 6800 does and still works flawlessly (as long as you slide the wifi sider on side to on {inside joke}).
follw me better now?
What brand router do you have? How many devices are wireless? And it connects to other locations but are you sending and recieving data? Try this link http://www.wmwifirouter.com/trial/ and install on 6800 if you are not normally around hotspots. This will test the t-pro's ability to send and recieve information via wifi. Now it is sounding like an IP address conflict.

Sweeny, Im in the houshold router (made by 2wire) I can see it (the Pro as well as the 6800) each get an ip. (I work In IT, so I know what you are talking about in ip conflicts, all that.) I have even set the router to manually setup IPs now, then set the ip inside the Pro, as well as the default gateway, dns all that.) I'm telling ya, it is more like it doesnt know the DNS or the gateway (just like I disable internet surfing on the computers at work that I still must use networking)
I copied the DNS and everything from a working laptop (ipconfig -all) on a wireless laptop today, and still as if it was disabled.
This weekend i will test the dang thing tethering with my notebook i'll bring home from work (use the pro as the internet access). if it wont tether either, then I think allHell is doing something. Again if the device is DE-Activated I will wifi... {I'll bet you $$}. I might call alltel, tomarrow night, and try that. I'll have them inactivate it and if it suddenly works, then the question is, what do I do with alltel? they dont have the right to disable hotspot usage do they?
I feel I feel the presence of VERIZON already in Alltel, Luke is turning to the dark side. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
You all thought I was off my crock...
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/2073117/Touch+Pro+WiFi?t=anon lots of folks posting same problems it looks like.
Need that group of people who can create a kitchen, and hcak tomtoms, to help us with this PLEASE!
No I don't, think you're off your crock I just know how frustrating problems like this can be. Here is what I suggest you do. And if this doesn't work exchange the phone or try a different router. I know what you're thinking....not the router. Truth is might be. Its just like wireless adapters in wii's and ps3's they simply will not work with a handfull of routers even though not clearly documented.
Anyway, change router to static Ip's, safer anyway.
Specifiy gateway, primary and secondary dns, and limit your ip's within 100 available obtainables. Use a 64 bit wep encryption. Change the channel of your router's broadcast to 1 or 11. Use only simple gateway ip range, not pure server. If you need me to provide you with example settings then pm me because I do not want to broadcast them via forum
Good luck.
Dont take this the wrong way....but are you positive that you are disabling the DATA Connection in Comm Manager?
I have had the alltel touch pro since the second they hit the store. I have used 3 of them since and they all work perfectly on wifi. I primarily use wifi and use diamond tweak to activate the wifi standby so wifi stays connected in standby like data does by default and use modaco nodata to disable data as I live in a house that gets a very lowsignal from the tower and eats my battery superfast if I use data. I have a router in the house and one in my office detached from my home and when I had my mogul it often would not switch between routers successfully requiring me to manually connect more often than not. All the Touch Pros connect superfast and switch automatically. I am running mightyrom 4.12 and telus radio which is light years better than stock with signal, speed and batterylife, but even when I was on stock for about 3 months there were absolutely no wifi issues.

Not sure which of us you are asking this queston of...
Thanks, for the help so far...
I was having the same issue (Alltel and all).
I found this post in the MS forums:
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsmobile/thread/561f18a8-5f64-4359-957e-adb003229f1d
Essentially, it says to "Navigate to START/SETTINGS/Connections Tab/Connections icon/Advanced Tab
Press Select Networks Button
At the top it says "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:"
You want to press on the drop down and choose My Work Network"
You need to tell the system that the Work Network connects to the internet as well. While this doesn't seem like the ideal solution (there should be a faster way to switch it, or it should do it automatically depending on location), it did work for me. I'm sure there's a much more sleek solution out there, though.
Btw... I hope I'm posting this correctly. I'm more a reader than a poster.
Ooop... one more thing. Its non-sleekatude rests with the fact that when you want to switch between wifi and your data plan, you have to go through the whole process, and switch the active network from My Work Network to Alltell Wireless. This is where I was hoping for a better solution. As I say, it does work, but it seems like it should involve less hassle.
Might add this to the WIKI, I dunno but there could be a few more thousand users out there on ATT or SWB using the modem/routers that they shipped when you got DSL more than a year ago...
Everyone that has the older 2 wire brand, wifi modem/router that came with SBC (now ATT). Wierd I know. But Mine has just been replaced by the newer version of that modem/router. and I will be dammed, it works. but the phone wont work with the older ones. Mine was the 2WIRE 1000hw model. they are shipping new models, and finally the phone will work with the wifi on that new router.
Thought it might be nice to know...
alltel model uses wifi just fine
My TP from alltel works just fine with wi-fi all i ever do is turn it on and then select which connection i want to make ...really quite nice...maybe you need to exchange yours...
On further testing of my own setup, I'm thinking my issue was the router. I had done several fixes all at once, and cited the wrong fix as the working one. I happened to reset my router at the same time I did the above suggested fix.
I thought it had to be the device, as my HTC Apache never had an issue with the router, but after resetting the router, and going back to the original settings on the TP, I'm having no problems connecting to the network. I wish I could pinpoint the exact conflict between the two, but now that I have it working, I'm not messing with it.
My suggestion is to back up your router settings, reset the router, and see what happens. Or test your wifi on someone else's network.
Isolating a network conflict can be one of the least fun things to do, but from everything I've seen here and in other forums (and my experience with it) I'm going to say that's the issue, and not the TP alone.
I don't think it likes your router being wireless B, you should try it on a wireless G router before Ebaying it.

[Q] Hotspot issue with PiCrust (and question)

Alright, the issue I'm having is that the Mobile Hotspot will not stay on with PiCrust. It starts up fine but a few seconds later it drops 3G connectivity all together and I have to reboot to get data back. I've tried with wifi on and off before using.
The question I have is about the "entitlement" mod used for tethering. I have read online that the reason the iPhone was able to be detected was because the methods were using an alternate APN so all AT&T had to do was cross reference those accounts to see if they were paying for tethering. So my question is: Does the entitlement mod use the same APN for data and tethering?? If so, I would think this would answer most people's questions about the validity of the method. I know no one has confirmed that AT&T has detected this method but it is still relatively new.
EDIT:
I have been doing some more research and I have noticed some people are having issues with the new android market. Is this common among people using the new market?

[Q] Help Please....Just Upgraded to ICS....Have Network Speed Problem

First, let me say I searched threads and forums looking for someone who had same problem and could not find any posting similar. The only one I found that similar was about the APN. I created a new APN using the settings I found in that thread, but it has not helped at all.
Got a pop-up/update message on phone yesterday about upgrading to ICS. I was running a stock HTC Amaze - not rooted - on Simple Mobile, and it was working great.
Upgraded phone to ICS OTA and love the new interface but having two problems, even after setting up the phone to run on the Simple network.
1. Phone is slow and will only run/display 2G whereas it used to be fast and say 4G.
2. Wifi tethering seems to be gone as it will not allow a tethered device to go to the page requested. (I have found threads about how to address this issue, so it is not a big concern like to 2g/4g speed issue.)
3. My android smiles are gone now......all I have are normal smiles. :-(
Any suggestions on what to do would be GREATLY appreciated.....
under mobile network settings, set your network mode to wcdma only.
I don't know much about the tethering issue, been on custom roms for a while, but apparently its a paid feature now. unlock your phone and install a custom rom, and you wont have that issue anymore
Could be a bad flash, though it doesn't really sound so, just sounds like they restricted a few things on other networks.
Fixed and working great....thanks sent to both who posted replies!!!!
Glad to see you got it fixed. If you don't get MMS, make sure you change your APN to the Simple Mobile APN. T-Mobile and Simple Mobile has slightly different APN settings.

6.0 wifi issue ideas, thoughts and workarounds

Hey everyone, I wanted to put together a thread focusing on wifi issues of different variety and what we can do to potentially fix or workaround the main issues
I personally have been working on a solution for the discrepancy that disallows me to connect to my enterprise wifi at work, lollipop and previous versions connect just fine. So far ive found this issue. May not be easiest nor even possible for some of the issues some of us are having, but i think its worth working towards solutions.

What wifi issues? You might need nrw router.
I was able to connect via guest, then they had lock it due to bandwidth consumption. I have password since im a supervisor and my other phone (5.1.1) connects just fine. The nexus says saved, but when i click connect nothing, doesnt say obtaining ip or authenticating. Credentials are correct and connected before to same network without lock

Does your nexus connect fine to other wireless networks? How can you blame it on the device instead of going and fixing your work network settings instead? There are no wifi issues. Call an IT guy and he will fix your router.

Interesting, I just read through a lot (more than I can believe) of that issue log. It sounds like its technically not a Google/Android 6.0 problem even though the problem arose with the upgrade to 6.0. Have you considered doing what Nick suggested and reaching out to your enterprise IT administrators at work to see if they can or plan to do the necessary updates?

Yeah it connects to others but all devices lollipop and older including iphone and blackberry connect fine. And its known that android m has issues connecting to some wifi that works fine with all other devices. If you do a quick search youll see basically all 6.0 devices (nexus 6, etc) have same issues once updated to 6.0 (hit or miss depends on network they try to connect to, but same story just fine before update). The IT dept are not going to change settings on their network that works fine with 99.9% devices that people have there, since im only one so far with a 6.0 device (IT request MAC address when you get pass) it obviously is some sort of security policy within the os or something of that nature

Yeah, they are hesitant to change what works for almost everyone that connects to it. Also i think itd be a good thing to work on since most IT admin wont change for the very few with newer devices
On a side note i do feel like its more or less a cop out of them to claim its not 6.0 fault because when push comes to shove it works fine but once 6.0 it doesn't and nothing changed on the network
When I had my Nexus 5X, I had issues connecting to WiFi at home until I used the Network Settings Reset option under Settings > Backup and Reset. I think this issue came from the restore of settings during initial setup. Possibly worth a try.
Still, the issue I'm running into now is that my 6P only connects to one of the two routers at home. I have both broadcasting the same SSID though they're different brands and one's an older G router. On my Moto X running 5.1, the phone would connect to the strongest signal. Seems the 6P will only connect to one and never connect to the other. I've had the phone "forget" that one and connected to the other and then it refused to connect to the original. Very odd.
My point in saying this is that I wonder if there's a similar issue occurring in the OP's office. Though the same SSID is being broadcast, its as if the phone remembers the MAC address of the specific router it originally connected to and refuses to connect to any others. Just a thought.

Just tried and sadly it didnt work
Tell the IT dept to upgrade their radius auth
I'm also having WiFi connection issues with eduroam (an often used protocol in UK universities) amongst other including my home dual band ac network. It locks out and can only be resolved by a reboot, which then takes 30-60 seconds to power off. Not normal or 'just an admin' issue. It seems to be software related as it is not constant nor predictable (ie it's not in certain areas and a reboot always reconnects). I'm unconvinced by the 'speak to your network admin' argument as it is neither useful or realistic and incompatible on my current patterns of usage or the issues being reported more widely.
My 6p works fine on my wi-fi router at home, but when I go over to my son's house, I have to go into Advanced Wi-Fi options and change the frequency band from automatic to 2.4 GHz only. Then I have to cycle my wi-fi off and back on. Then it will work on his router. Otherwise, it with keep trying to connect and fail every time.
Rob
Yeah, these are the issues (including the issue im having) that im talking about. Theres clearly issues with wifi on 6.0. Its not an issue with the hardware, nor is the solution "buy a new router" or "must be the settings on your companys network" granted most people can connect everywhere they've tried but if they tried where we cant connect or have issues they'd have same problem. Im thinking its a problem due to security policies or something along those lines but we should be able to alter, remove, or opt out of them at our own risk. Just thinking out loud.
Which build are you on? Mine ends in k. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3248499

Question Phone calls getting disconnect immidietly

Hi. When someone trying to call me and i answer the call it immidietly disconnecting and it shows that i have missed call, the same happens when I'm trying to call someone. I'm almost 100% sure that this is happening because I deleted some important system app, but i have no idea which one. I tried to restore a few of them, rebooting phone in save mode, removing SIM card and insert it again. Nothing helped. I read somwhere that it could be potentially some spying app, but this is unlikely, because if that was the case then phone calls should work fine in safe mode, but they don't. I attached file with almost all the system apps i deleted.
Update: I reset network settings and figured that phone calls don't work when I have VoWi-Fi turned on, but they worked before without any problems, they work however with VoLTE turned on. I couldn't find any system app that could cause this and it's unlikely that my phone operator has changed something with this. Perhaps it is caused by some router update (Huawei AX3 Pro Quad-Core)?
I think this issue is from your phone operator's side.
Again, if this happens just try this, turn on Airplane mode for a few seconds then turn it off, hope it works.

I already did that
Update: I spoke with Orange support and this is the informations i got:
,,Phones not on the list of terminals supporting VoLTE in Orange will have The VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling services systematically disabled. Because the phones have not passed certification, Orange is not able to ensure the correct combination of calls and quality during the call. Connections from non-certified engines can have a negative impact on the service for other users on the network."
,,If the phone was purchased outside of Orange, the service is not supported by Orange"
So they created some magical certificate and only the phones bought from their shop will support this functions and the same phones from outside their shop will not. Nice job Orange! And of course they didn't share any information about this certificate even tho i asked, they just copy and paste the same massages over and over again.
Ps. This line ,,Connections from non-certified engines can have a negative impact on the service for other users on the network." is of course a total crap, because everyone in my house is using this functions and no one has ever complain about quality of phone calls and not a single phone was bought from the operator.
Certification just means the phone has been tested and proven to work. There is no actual certificate. You can use non-certified devices on a network but you run the risk of something not working correctly. Remember that this is their network and they can control who can use and what they can do on it. If they choose to block all non-certified devices then thats up to them. They can let it be a free-for-all but that just makes diagnosing issues alot more difficult for them and for you.
The bit about negative impacts you are misinterpretating. They only say that it CAN have a negative impact, not that it does. I've seen issues on networks where one misbehaving device interferes with all other devices on the network. Thats what the network operator is trying to avoid with certification.
As for the original issue, VoLTE and WiFi Calling are complex technologies. You're calling over a data connection which routes your call to the operators servers which then transfer the call to the standard telephone network. There are so many kinks in the chain here that its never a simple fix. For instance, if your Internet provider uses traffic shaping or you set QoS on your router, they can interfere with WiFi Calling.
I would suggest the biggest issue here though is that you have tinkered with your phone and broke it yourself. You cant blame anyone else but yourself for that. System apps can interlink with each other. Deleting an apparently useless app maybe provide something useful to a critical app. That will then break functionality. Your tinkering also widens all the possible issues that it could be so I dont even know where to start.

They said that they will be disabling systematically Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE on non-certified phones (phones that were not bought directly from them), so that would mean that this is not my fault, but if it is then this is why i shared a list of system apps that i deleted so someone who knows more about them than me could tell me which one have any connection to Wi-Fi Calling. Also this phone I have is marked on their website as supported for this technlology, so tell me what is the diffrence between exactly the same phone bought directly from them and bought somewhere else (from official source of course), except additional bloatware, that would have any complication with those technologies?
