After searching everywhere and trying to get a clear answer on the Global ROM_ROW support for Android 11 on the Lenovo Legion Duel (one), all I could find was don't use the Chinese ROM as it has many issues. So, like any person told not to I tried it. Though it worked I had multiple issues with sensors and my cell service in the USA. I went back to GLOBAL ROM .332 which was the most stable for me but did lose my casting ability for playing my games to my TV. This is a deal breaker for me as I take my phone on the go and hook to friends and family's TV's for Steam, Emulation, etc and we use the casting, as this allows me to play my games. Note I also use it for Gamepass cast to the screen for friends to watch the game etc.
I finally found an Android 11 non China ROM, but it was an EE ROM on another site (which I had to pay for) but NO Global ROW ROM as installed on the phone when I purchased it. After backing up my data yet again, I tried to install this one (see link below for how to install). Once I installed and rebooted the Lenovo Legion L79031 v EE 12.5.251_ST rom, and set my cell APN, Turned the 5G to NSA-SA and networks preference (to NR-LTE-GDSM etc...) it began to function. After prox. 30 seconds after a reboot from changing the settings, I got a notification for an update (YES OTA). The update is for 12.5.320 which has notification fixes and bug fixes. Hopefully, this will be my last time having to flash the device! But I can confirm the EE rom for 11 does function on T-Mobile in the USA and works with out issue so far, has only been a short time for usage, but finally a solution for me.
Pros:
Android 11
Battery life improved
Smoother touch rate
OTA UPDATES
(Everything seems to function including cell and text messages on USA T-Mobile including the 5G NR)
Cameras work for everything even BARCODE readers and Mobile banking depo which was an issue before (at least for me). Pic snap faster but no real software updates from last build for controls as far as I can tell.
ZUI loads much faster.
Cons:
Lost all settings backups seems to cause issue when restoring so manually re-adding is the best solution.
APN setting and other settings might need to be redone, if installing from a back up or updating with OTA update.
Rebooting seems to take longer.

As for what everyone really wants the links and how to install, I have linked to a video I send to others to use for installing the ROM, it is NOT my video, but the best one on YOUTUBE( I found recently); I had my 8 year old son help me a few weeks ago update a friends Duel and I let my son follow the vid and install the rom, OBV I did the downloads on the PC and setup the file location but he was able to follow the steps well to load the files to the phone, which is why I suggest to us it. The first time installing is scary! There is BIG BIG BIG pre-req beforehand, back up your phones drives as mentioned in other post on this forum! I have had to use mine two or three times and with out it I would have been SOL! See links below for ROM and VID.
I do not take any responsibility if you brick your device or LOOSE your data, etc or if this doesn’t work on another US carrier, as I have only tested AT&T (friends’ phone) and T-Mobile (MINE). I will try to help if it’s messed up, but please back your stuff up!
(Not my video, but how to install)
ROM- EE version (I believe this to be UK ROM) (Again I PAID FOR THIS, but I am sharing it for FREE, as we should all have access to these OTA).

I know its only about a day but does everything still seem to be working? Camera, triggers, fingerprint scanner, notifications, etc. I'm on the china rom and have been searching for a fix pretty much everyday. It would be nice to have everything working on the phone

Everything is working smoothly for me. I haven't had any issues that are show stoppers.
I did find it harder to change my network preferences, for cell service as I have to search for it vs going to advance setting. But again this is to change from NR/GSM/CMDA/GSM etc. most people leave this a lone but I move it around depending on the area and service I am in.

Did you install from a Global Rom and if so what version I installed from .332 as said with no issues. Spoke to someone else today on Facebook, and he was able to install and get it working as well. More than happy to help if I can.
I think that's the incompatible message
Get back to android 10 then flash the rom again
On .332 i get the incompatible hardware message.
You can fix that by flashing persist img
So i need to flash back the chinese rom, backup persist then install .332 and restore persist?

persist fix the incompatible hardware message, camera and some sensor problem
modem fix no sim signal.
Hi i'm been looking for this good news for a long time ago. I have 3 questions. The first one, can I install the EE 12.5.251 row ROM directly with the qfil software, I mean I just exctracting the 251 ROM on a folder with the same name on the c unit and then run the qfil software?… The second one: I'm on CN ROM 12.5.225, so I wan't to know if there is any big chance to get the black screen as before when I tried to get back to the global? And the last one, the video on your post of how to change to global is broken can you fixed please?. Thank you very much for your time and patience. Greetings
I used 12.5.320 and I started to have service issues after about 3 months and the OS crashed, most stable version for me is still 12.0.332. I have not tried using the newest china ROM and thought about trying it
Please could you reupload the video cuase it's not available Now

Well done mate, defiantly needed here :good:
Looks great Pony! And I see some familiar faces that have pop'd in here....
Pony,
I have a couple FAQ's that I'd like to nominate for your list (there may be additional answers that people will want to offer, but the answers are as complete a list that I can think of/find):
Q. After flashing the ROM, I get a popup saying "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped."
A.
1) Clear data for the Media Storage service
2) Reflash the ROM when reinstalling the apps don't restore data
Q. My PC/Laptop doesn't recognize that my phone is connected when MTP connected:
A.
1) use a different USB port
2) don't use a USB 3.0 port
2) use a different USB to micro cable
3) reboot PC/Laptop: may require multiple reboots of PC/Laptop (standard windows fix is to reboot 3 times, to see if it fixes the prob, before calling their helpless desk)
4) are you using an Windows 8 PC/Laptop? Change to a different computer
5) reinstall/manually install the drivers (http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-E970)

A friend of mine (here, in India) is planning to buy the Optimus G E970, an unlocked version. I was wondering,
1. Is there any way to remove the AT&T logo from the notification bar, except installing a custom statusbar? Open to custom stock (LG) roms, not stock android based roms. If not, does it stay constant at AT&T or does it change according to current carrier?
2. Is the deep sleep issue gone in the JellyBean update?
3. Techradar says the contacts app was very erratic, and used to take upto 30 seconds to open on occasion. Did any of you guys face this issue on ICS? Is it there in JellyBean.
4. Also, since the phone is based on AT&T, how will the modem perform?
Many thanks to whoever takes the time to answer these questions for me...

I have the AT&T version which I am using in India... I had to use LGNPST to load the latest firmware since OTA does not work... Currently it is rooted, unlocked, with vanilla rootbox running.....
1. I don't remember seeing any AT&T logo in the statusbar. Also when you put in an Indian SIM, the service provider name will be displayed in the statusbar. This is on stock firmware, un-rooted and with bootloader locked.
2. No deep sleep issue
3. No issues with contacts. This depends on rom I guess.
4. the usual bug with JB radio is present with call indicated as disconnected but available in the notification area.
P.S. If you want to unlock bootloader with freegee app, suggest you use the CWM recovery instead of TWRP.... I used TWRP first and soft-bricked my phone. Then had to go back to stock and repeat the whole process again.
hope this helps...

I read in a couple of places that its permanent, which would be annoying. Since this phone was designed only for AT&T, i assumed that the word "AT&T" was just pasted there, as opposed to reading the name of the actual carrier, displaying it there.
About the modem issue, if i understood correctly, it will say call disconnected, but the call will still go through? Can't the ICS modem be used instead?
The other Modem issue I am curious about is one i faced on my own S2. The stock modem that came with the Indian firmware was terrible, and hardly ever gave me a data connection. As soon as i switched modems, the problem was rectified. Now if Samsung can drop the ball on a phone meant to be sold and used in India, i can only assume that something similar can happen with an AT&T phone.

Yes, you are absolutely right - "it will say call disconnected, but the call will still go through". ICS modem can also be used. Check the thread on available radios under the General section(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270319). This thread talks about each radio and the issues they have. Also some roms have GPS/ LTE problems. If you can do without these, I guess you can use the ICS radio.
Basic question, will mods and apps made for other LGOG's (Sprint, international) work on our phone. I understand that some get into framework and such but i would like to know about launchers, q-slide, and such
Thanks

odd, once unlocked and you use a different provider's SIM, it should not show AT&T in the status bar.
mine shows T-Mobile (it showed a different logo when I used one of those prepaid sims).
The LG Optimus L5 II or E450 seems to be the enhanced version of the Optimus L5. It was released on February 2013 and bring some improvements like a new processor (1000 MHz, ARM Cortex-A9) and it brings android version Jelly Bean 4.1 as default fimware.

I'm making this thread because it seems that some things that work for the model E610 don't work for this one (Actually I have only tried with some CWMs and mods) so I will be updating it with special stuff only for the E450 models.
At the moment it is possible to root and unlock the device, you can follow alley23 guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343579
How to root the phone:
1. Download this chinese root software called VROOT (I use this method because is the only one that worked for me but it must be other ways too...)
http://www.mgyun.com/vroot
2. Enable "USB debugging mode" on your phone (Settings > Developer Options > Android Debugging)
3. Connect phone to computer and install phone drivers, download them from LG site if necessary
4. Run VROOT and you will see that the program detects your phone model, click on the green square button that says ROOT, if everything goes ok your phone will restart and now you will see a "root" app on your app drawer, that means your phone now is rooted.
5. If you want to change the root app (because is in chinese) you will need SDK Tools (http://dl.google.com/android/installer_r22.2.1-windows.exe) and Java JDK (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html)
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu or any other root manager and open it up, go to setting and select "Install SuperSU into /system" (this will override the chinese root app).
6. Open an ADB terminal and type the following (with the quotation marks):
Windows:
adb.exe shell "su -c 'mount -o remount,rw /system'"
adb.exe shell "su -c 'rm /system/bin/su'"
adb.exe shell "su -c 'rm /system/xbin/su'"
7. Restart phone, open SuperSU and update binary sources, and ta-da! done.
If you have any question or you don't a step PM me and I will help you.

I have tried to install a custom recovery, Clockwork Mod, with the custom recovery for L5 E610 but I can't make it work, I also tried several guides of the E610 but none seems to work so I guess it is incompatible with the E450...
But I will continue to update the thread with news, updates and stuff ported to this (awesome?) device.
Some mods by Slipsystem: Here
And now, thanks to the amazing user slipsystem, it is posible to unlock the bootloader of the E450! Follow this link to find how to do it: (L5 II) Unlocked Bootloader (Optima Team)
Any comments or links are welcome.
I bought the LG E450g, I suppose that the "G" would refer to my area and frequencies 850/1900.
I have not tried to root yet.
It have a nice performance, more than a Galaxy S Duos, and the UI feels really smooth.
The only issue with this phone is the Wifi/Data disconnecting every time the screen goes off. This means I will not receive Whatsapp messages o whatever that uses internet until I turn on the phone.
I have tryng looking for a setting, app, or something else without luck. Also I did a factory reset, and flashing a new firmware, but still no luck.
But in overall, the phone just works fine.
Have you enable the "keep wifi on during sleep" option? Which apps have you tried?

Yes, I enabled "Keep Wifi on during Sleep", disable "Mobile data Limits", everything, but no luck.
Im still looking for an app that forces the connection always on, but no luck.
Is your E450g working fine? Which firmware do you have?
I'm using stock firmware but I've never experimented that kind of problem... mmm, you can try with an app called "Advanced Wifi Lock (Free) search it in google play.
Finally someone else confirming this issue. I have the same problem with my L450. I initially thought this was a problem only on my phone and that it i had a problem with the firmware. I have flashed the latest Chinese firmware and still have the same problem. LG is unaware of this problem this is there reply to this issue

Dear Slipsystem,
The part where you enabled the Wi-Fi during sleep mode that’s fine like that and did you have a stable Wi-Fi connection prior to this?
When you try going onto the internet does it give you an error message and if so what error message does it display?
Kind Regards,

ME
I do have a stable wifi connection, the same thing happens on my home network as well as my work network. I get no error message using chrome it just tells me the page could not be loaded. I also am not able to browse shared folders using es-file exporer.
I did google it and alot of people say thats its a rom issue. I am not using a custom rom, and I dont want to send my phone in for repairs if all they are going to do is re install the software. I have tried doing a factory reset but I still have the same issue.
I can re-install using the lg mobile support tool but I am trying to avoid having to do everything again.
have you experienced this problem before on any of your other l series 2 devices?
could this be a firmware issue?
I had I haven't experienced this issue with the samsung s3 running jelly bean or the sony xperia go running jellybean.
It shows that the wifi is connected but its not. when going to google it says page could not be loaded. I installed wifi fix and everytime i lock my phone when I unlock it wifi fix has to repair the connection.

Hi Slipsystem,
It’s rare that we get issues like these and if we do get issues where the phones system is not working as it should we flash the phone (run software) and it normally resolves the problems.
We have never experienced this problem on any of the LG series as far as I know. What I can advise you to do as a customer is take the phone back to the store where it was purchased from or to your nearest network provider where they can have the phone tested for you.
I can give you the hard factory reset code as well but I don’t think it will really make a difference (3845#*450#) then WCDMA only – then Factory Reset.
Kind Regards,
Dominic Bridger

I think the best option for us is to install wifi fixer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.wahtod.wififixer I found this to be the only app that works. and wait for a new update or custom rom that fixes this issue
i have the same problem! with WPA2 nets! LG E451G (Argentina)
Does this problem happens with all the networks you are connected to? I mean has anybody tried with a different network? Because it seems that the only difference of wifi on E610 and E450 is a "dual-band" feature, maybe it is a compatibility issue with your router frecuency?
Or maybe it is a firmware problem? this is my software info:

I have had this problem with my work network and with my home network.to be honest I am not sure what dual band is, but my wireless settings look like this.
Hello Slipsystem.
I was thinking that it was only my phone too.. No app fixed, nor flashing new roms, nothing worked.
I saw your post about Wifi Fixer. So I will try it.
I was doing it the manual way, -Wake up phone.. -Wifi off.. -Wifi on.(Each time my screen went off) (Yeah, maybe 5 times in 5 minutes).
Also I tried modifying the build.prop, not luck - (To be true, I didnt know what I was doing, I was really desperate)
Some Customs
Some customizing if anyone is interested

I know no one has been able to get a custom recovery to work for our phone yet. But if it were possible what would you like to do with it other than Install a custom rom. Debloating is a must but what type of mods/ports would you want to install on your device. for me i miss the xperia range of media apps so I ported it to my phone. Before I write a tutorial I want to know what your suggestions are.
Tell me what you would like ported to the L5 II.
I guess everyone is shy.... This is the reason why I asked the question.

Hello again! As you know my L5 II was dead, but now thanks to you it is not anymore.
Answering your questions. The first thing I would like to see is a WiFi-issue Fix. Then maybe a AOSP-themed (Settings and some other things) lite rom, or even better.. a cyanogen port.
For mods or port, maybe a port from the beautiful lock-screen of the LG G2 (Maybe I'm dreaming). But to be honest, I don't really envy anything from other phones.
In overall, I'm very happy with this phone.
The only bad thing = WiFi :silly:
If you are really interested on developing, porting, modding.. I could be a tester for your work
hi
Good work, keep going to discover things for this device.:good:
The recent news from CyanogenMod are that they are working on an installer so that the mod will work on any phone yay, so im expecting it will solve the wifi issue on ours... I guess it will install a custom recovery so we will be able to flash easier

WiFi Fix is a definite, I am not sure how to fix this though I think it has something to do with a kernel tweak or something. I dont like to play around with anything except the system folder.
AOSP-Theme I am looking into for you, I found a few threads but it seams to require a CWM based rom.
LG G2 seems possible as far as I know it is the same as our lock screen just with added effects. I am pretty sure this is possible. It might take some time as I need to download a LG G2 rom to port these feature and the Roms are almost 2 gigs and my internet connection is very slow. It is probably something to do with pushing the lockscreensettings apk and then copying some libs and frameworks to get all the effects to work.

Hi, I'm from Argentina. I have the e451g and had the same problem. Solution: change router security from WPA2 to WPA
Sorry for not posting in a while guys I have been down with a sickness.
I am looking at all suggestions and trying my best to help out.
some progress
ivan0550 request for LG G2 Lock Screen. I am not getting a Force Close anymore but I am stuck with editing the framework-res.apk hopefully after editing that I will get the effects to work.
ivan0550 request for a wifi fix, still havent found a working solution for this, Fede37 recommended changing the router settings from WPA2 to WPA this has no effect. I am going to try setting my router to different bands and frequencies to see if it will stabilize.
rotorto request for mass storage option, all of the tweaks that I made to the build.prop doesnt seem to throw my phone into mass storage mode. I am not sure if there is a way to get this to work without installing a 3rd party app.
ivan0550 request for a AOSP like settings. I am not experienced in Cynogenmod or AOSP as all of my previous android phone didnt have one of these custom roms available. I am not sure on how the settings work and what its sapposed to do but maybe this post can shed some lite

all in alll I am having no luck but I am going to keep on trying. If i keep hitting a brick wall I will move onto another project and come back to trying to get these things to work but I wont forget about these requests.
Dont feel afraid to request anything as I will try my best to help out wherever possible. I love getting request as I like to modify my device and it just gives me insparation.

You have to install the Google Apps as a separate install when dealing with most non stock roms. Surely the guide you were looking at mentioned that...? Weird that you are having issues with Sms as it's rare roms have that trouble. Which messaging app are you using? Your contacts aren't there because you wiped your phone, installed a new operating system, and didn't install the Google apps to resync your account. I'm confused on why you're surprised by that... Kies doesn't work on non stock roms and is a much inferior tool vs Odin. Also, didn't you do a nandroid backup before installing Slim? If so, you could just restore that and you would be back to the previous version in like 10 minutes. If you didn't...well, you weren't looking at the right guides then. I think Slim is 10x better than stock, personally but depending on the phone and version, there can be some minor issues.
I think that Whatsapp doesn't recognize your phone because of the custom DPI. If you set that to stock value, it should work.

Some of us if not a lot of us have been facing Widevine certification issue out of the box mainly the phone being L3 instead of L1 as per advertised.
Picked mine up 2 days ago and sure enough it was L3. Some of the posts here stated that Oppo told them that the mainboard needed to be changed / they swapped the device however i can now confirm this is not a hardware issue.
Took mine back to the Oppo service centre the very next morning and they fixed it within 30 minutes. When i walked in, the frontdesk customer service representative didn't even know the issue. In fact they didn't even know what Widevine was.
1. Prior to sending and after , my firmware version remained the same which is - CPH2025_11_A.23 ( June security patch - latest version as of now )
2. Phone was not reset when i collected it back 30 minutes later. Every app and settings remained the same as well.
When i asked them what was done to fix it, they told me that they contacted Oppo China and they were given a file to install and reconfigure. Upon further questioning ie what file and can i have a copy of the apk, they declined to answer and stated it's due to privacy reasons.

Widevine before and after :
TL;DR : From the looks of it , this can definitely be fixed with a software update. Just hope that some media picks this up so that Oppo is aware as for now when you email them, all they ask you to do is either reset your phone or clear netflix cache data. Spending so much on a phone only to enjoy Netflix and Amazon Prime content in SD is utterly ridonkulous.
Hope this helps, although there's no Guide, i hope this thread picks up traction and OPPO realizes that this is a common issue.
Cheers.

Same issue here.
I´ve just speak with the oppo Service Assitance and i´m waiting for their feedback.
Agree with you that with a simply software update issue should be fixed but i´m , afraid that they don´t know well how they need to proceed.

Confirmed fix for Widevine L3 to L1
So i opened a thread here previously stating that i had an issue with my widevine and the service centre managed to fix it very short time. Found this apk hidden in my phone just now when i was doing some clean up. I think Oppo service centre forgot to remove it.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-a07h9lX2LO1IwEzifbmQWxg0hchSUDj/view?usp=sharing
Widevine services apk, when you click install, it should install the key. Not sure if this apk was configured specifically for my phone but those having the issue may try it out.
Godspeed

edit : I tested on 2 of my friends phones who had this issue and it managed to resolve it as well. Once done you need to clear device cache or netflix data and cache. Some users here reported that it fixed it for them as well.
I'm on A.24 and it's L1

You´r totally right this tool fix the issue with de Widevine cert, and it´s great that you´ve posted for people that is having this issue can fixit it without need to send to the SAT, because no one in Oppo knows (At least in the european division knows how to do it).

I tried also. Now drm Info shows L1. Netflix instead still shows L3. it defititly changed Something. But does not fix the Netflix problem.

However, Netflix still doesnt work. I cleared the data and cache of Netflix, but how to clear device cache?
Hello, Thanks for this. I downloaded it but when I try to install the APK, it says that i already have a version installed. Is there a way to uninstall the older version and if so which file must be deleted?
Would that work for other phones like the OP8 Pro rooted ?

It works.
Things needed:1. An Xperia 1 iii (of corse)
2. A Windows PC (I don't know if there's a Mac or Linux version, but I didn't find it)
3. A reliable USB-C cable
4. NewFlasher
Download: [TOOL] Newflasher (xperia command line flasher)
5. XperiFirm
Download: Tool Archives - XperiFirm Tool
!!!FIRST THING FIRST!!! BACKUP EVERYTHING IMPORTANT
FLASHING A PHONE MAY CAUSE DATA LOSS. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR DATA.
1. Download and unzip the XperiFirm and select the ROM you want in the Available Firmware list and download.

}
2. Once downloaded, unzip the NewFlasher into the ROM folder.
Your folder should look like this:
3. Start a command line in the ROM folder and run "newflasher set_active:a" otherwise your phone will boot into a bootloop.
4. Power off your phone and plug it into your PC. Hold the volume down button and the power button until the LED turns GREEN.
5. Now you can double click on the newflasher.exe in your ROM folder and follow the guide. You can keep user data while flashing, just pay attention on the instructions on the Newflasher.
6. Don't disturb the flasher while it is working. Your phone will automatically turn on after the flashing is completed.
My Xperia was purchased in China (XQ-BC72). I have tried many ROMs like Hong Kong and Taiwan versions. Recently I flashed my phone with the XQ-BC62 ROM and everything works very well (mobile data, voice calling, data roaming, dual SIM, exposure alert, etc.). However, I haven't try VoLTE because my carrier doesn't support it (SO SAD).
I'm in Canada and my carrier is CMLink. The data icon for LTE shows 4G if you're curious.
The DRM is not damaged that the Windvine security level is still L1 so you can still enjoy the HDR content on Netflix after flashing using this method.
UPDATE Sept. 28, 2021I flashed my XQ-BC72 back. I have several issues while using the XQ-BC62 ROM.
The US ROM doesn't include my carrier's configuration so VoLTE, VoWiFi, showing LTE instead of 4G is not working. According to other threads, T-Mobile doesn't have the configuration as well and someone mentioned only Google Fi users can get a configuration (NOT SURE).
Actually, I didn't find any difference between the XQ-BC62 and the XQ-BC72 ROMs (I'm in Canada).
Although the phone is working fine, the LTE is auto-disconnecting every 30 seconds, while HSPA+ doesn't have this issue. I don't think it's my carrier's problem because I bought a new Fido sim card and it's still disconnecting until I flash it back. So if your LTE works fine, please share your solution down below if you don't mind.
I have heard that the new update 61.0.a.11.92 is enhancing the network performance. I don't know if it's because I didn't update my phone. I don't wanna "play" with my ROM since this is my daily using phone.
Thanks to DennisDD78 who discovered that the OTA is not available if a non-native ROM is flashed, even it's all XQ-BC72. Still, if you make your OTA work, please share your solution!
UPDATE Nov. 26, 2021I didn’t update the post due to the heavy university work (so sad).
You can keep your data during flashing now by simply choose an option while flashing, as the Newflasher is up-to-date. But still please backup your important data before flashing.
I can confirm that Gpay and android wear work perfectly after flashing, even a cross-model flashing.
Flashing a different rom doesn’t bring any carrier feature like VoLTE and VoWiFi, see this post.
I also tried XQ-BC62 roms again and also XQ-BC52 roms. Same issue, LTE disconnects every 10 seconds, and it brought no new features at all. I haven’t tried those Japanese roms. If you have any experience, please share.
Hmm, I'm debating on getting the XQ-BC72 model and crossflashing to the US but only if it come swith a warranty
Does anybody know what might be causing the flash to stop about a quarter way through? I followed the steps outlined above but still doesn't work. Still stuck on the device can't be trusted, five second power down logo.
It worked the first time, but now it’s not completing anymore.

Things needed:1. An Xperia 1 iii (of corse)
2. A Windows PC (I don't know if there's a Mac or Linux version, but I didn't find it)
3. A reliable USB-C cable
4. NewFlasher
Download: [TOOL] Newflasher (xperia command line flasher)
5. XperiFirm
Download: Tool Archives - XperiFirm Tool
!!!FIRST THING FIRST!!! BACKUP EVERYTHING IMPORTANT
FLASHING A PHONE WILL CAUSE DATA LOSS. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR DATA.
1. Download and unzip the XperiFirm and select the ROM you want in the Available Firmware list and download.

2. Once downloaded, unzip the NewFlasher into the ROM folder.
Your folder should look like this:
View attachment 5396821
3. Start a command line in the ROM folder and run "newflasher set_active:a" otherwise your phone will boot into a bootloop.
View attachment 5396823
4. Power off your phone and plug it into your PC. Hold the volume down button and the power button until the LED turns GREEN.
5. Now you can double click on the newflasher.exe in your ROM folder and follow the guide.

Could you please tell me the difference between the XQ-BC62 ROM and other ROMs for example the Taiwan versions. Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately OTA update system stops working after flashing non-native f/w, please consider this and warn others.
Don`t know why, OTA just doesn`t work.
I was able to flash to the US firmware, but I have no signal (T-Mobile). I'm wondering if I did something wrong during the process.
Hey,
I tried flashing the US firmware for Xperia 1 iii.
So my first mistake was that I unplugged it too early during the initial flash. Now I keep getting "This device is corrupt. It cannot be trusted to boot. Power off in 5 seconds."
I did this as my device was set to "newflasher set_active:b" instead of "newflasher set_active:a".
Any suggestions on where to go from here?
This initial firmware is the HK firmware.
Thanks and cheers

I don't think it's your fault. My XQ-BC72 with BC62 rom has some problems on LTE network as well. The LTE connection is auto-disconnecting every 30 seconds. So I flashed it back to TW rom and the problem is solved.

Yes you remind me that I've received a software update but no ROM update. I will update my post. Thanks for telling me!

Yeah i went back to the TW rom and it works perfectly as well. I did some minor research so take this with a grain if salt, but I found that the Global Xperia 1 IIIs have different bands internally compared to the US Xperia 1 IIIs. I think that’s why the network keeps on disconnecting when using the BC62 rom on BC72 phones.
Here are the instructions for keeping data intact while flashing firmware in Newflasher on the Xperia 1 III:
If you only delete userdata.sin, your data partition will be corrupt and you will be forced to factory reset and lose all your data.
To prevent this from happening, not only do you have to delete userdata.sin, but also appslog.sin, diag.sin and metadata.sin from the firmware folder as well. Found this by checking the update.xml file in the firmware folder, all required sin files to delete are listed as "<NOERASE>".

The native firmware is the one that was originally installed in your new device, out of the box.
If you are flashing your device with the firmware of a different region, then now it is not the native firmware for your device.
You flashed your Chinese device with TW ROM, so now you have non-native f/w and OTA system won`t work. Reflash the device back to it`s native Chinese ROM, after that i recommend to you to make a repair with Xperia Comapsnion, and after all this OTA function will recover.
i am using 1iii chinese version, yesterday i flashed the rom but got an error, the device rebooted continuously, can anyone help me?
the screen shows the words "your device is corrutp. its can't be trusted and will no boot..."

Yeah, it's a problem. I had to return mine because of it. There were issues with overheating and boot loop initially even when I wasn't even trying to flash it. I don't know if mine was just a lemon.
Thanks for this guide.
I'm also from Canada and first try (before reading here) ended up in a Blue LED no boot (boot loop).
I now am on Russian XQ-BC72
Anybody use TikTok ?
I think i have an weird issue since i'm on a Russian version now. Seems that once i am "logged" the comments / share icons just disappear.
I've completly reinstalled on my other phone and have no issues, just on that phone.
Going back to TW version.. will report

Can confirm, I was able to update just now via newflasher and everything seems to have survived.

Thanks a lot for your confirmation! My Xperia is my primary phone, so I didn't try it. Please tell me if all Google Pay cards are still there and if the android smartwatch is still connected!
