Bricked LG G8X - No QDLoader 9008 mode - LG G8X ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hi.
My LG G8X got bricked. what happened was
Sdcard was not getting detected. so I tried to format it in phone(rooted) using fdisk. I thought sdcard as /dev/block/sdd (as it was visible previously as /dev/block/sdd). Restarted & Phone is now not powering on at all.
I tried to get it into EDL mode by pressing and holding power & vol down. After about 10-12 seconds , pressed vol up. But there is no activity in Device Manager & not getting detected at all.
Could anybody guide me ?
Thanks.

Same here, and the non-functional touch screen makes it feel worse

I think you need to fix this using the firehose file in Qualcomm tool or have you fixed it already?

Have you tried reflashing the phone through fastboot?

Omg, I forgott to check for reply :/
Yes, I've tried. There was something about unrecognised partition or similar, do not remember now. Phone still dead.
If Download Mode won't work anymore, only a JTAG Adapter with special recovery tools could help. If such a port has been implemented on the PCB for access by LG service personnel. Otherwise it would mean new PCB or better phone in this case.
Try to download LG Mobile Support Tool and connect your phone while holding vol up to enter S/W Update mode. Then click "Options" and next click Upgrade Recovery. Program will download latest stock ROM for your phone and it should help to "unbrick" your phone
That's exactly the final line of defense. If invoking DL mode don't work:
-unplug phone
-force power-off by keeping power bttn pressed, the only way for a bricked phone
-power on
-force power - off
-invoke DL mode
The extra power cycle increases the chance to succeed. It should take about 5 seconds for the phone to power-on after attaching it via usb(with vol-, not vol+ pressed, I think, but that's easy to verify) and go almost immediately into DL mode. Otherwise it's just bricked again or not powering. For this case is the work around with the extra power cycle.

Edit: I've found the solution.
1. go into EDL mode by pressing Power vol+ vol-
2. use miphone 20151028, don't use recent mi flash
3. Flash TWRP
4. Proceed to flash ROM (in my case i use RR Os) via TWRP
Hello, is it possible that I have my phone bricked after a battery replacement?
Heres what happened: I had obviously a battery problem. So I ordered one from ebay and I replaced it. The new battery seem to work, however the phone will not respond to the buttons. Not any buttons. Only if I plug in a cable, mi logo appears for a few seconds and then a big battery bar shows for a few more seconds. Then nothing. (If I put in the old battery and I plug in a cable, the reaction is the same BUT no battery bar appears). The phone does not respond to any buttons like vol +/- holding together with power on, etc. Any help? Thanks, Filip.

your battery/connector/header(on mainboard side) seems broken. battery usually does not impact any software. It's better if you open new thread specifically about your problem, so anyone can join to discuss further.

Totally Dead V30 after flash modem

UPDATE!:
Solved by using remote service repair, thank you all!
Hello friends :
First, i hope you can understand me because my english is very poor.
I have a korean LG V30 V300L, so i decided to root it using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/korean-variant-bootloader-unlock-root-t3804505
Everithing was great, my phone was running on: Rom_LGv30_V300s_v21e_Oreo_full_stock.zip
But I realized I had no signal, even when the tutorial says that i must have, so i remembered this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76585138&postcount=206
And i said: "Okay, i must flash xbl xbl2 & modem".
So i did it, i took the only kdz that i have: V300L20e_00_1218.kdz, selected the partitions and start.
When LGUP ended, the phone reboot, but nothing happened, only a black screen. There is no:
-"Warning unlocked bootloader" logo
-V30 Logo
-Recovery
-Fastboot
-Normal boot
-USB connection sound
-Also, there´s no 9008 mode
All the phone does is a black screen that shows a white line for a milisecond, and turns off, and repeat the process forever.
I really hope that you guys can help me, i'm desparate
Thank you so much.
Try holding down power and volume down.
If you see the lg logo, hold the buttons down again. But this time, as soon as you see the lg logo, let go of volume down and power, then immediately hold down power and volume down. It should get you to recovery mode. If you have stock recovery still, preform a factory reset. That should fix it.

Not dead but hard bricked with Qualcomm USB QLD 9008. You'll need to pay for Ebay unbrick service remotely for $30-35; though the Moldova one is XDA member and will give other discount to XDA members. You'll have to install Qualcomm QLD 9008 drivers and then plug phone in and it should say this mode in Device Manger. If not you'll have to do the button dance to get it into this mode.

Per Runningxxxx:
"First, you don't need to open the phone to enter QDLoader / EDL / 9008 mode:
With the phone connected to a PC (you don't need any special software loaded, just the USB connection), and with the phone powered on and unlocked, hold vol +, vol -, and power to shutdown the phone. Keep holding them till you get a countdown on the screen. The second the countdown completes, and the screen shuts off, let go of power, keep holding vol -, and start tapping the crap out of vol +.
If you have problems getting into recovery using the key combo, this is at least 5x as hard to get it right. When you do, the screen will be blank and the phone will show up in your OS as 9008. Example in Linux:
Code:
Bus 001 Device 015: ID 05c6:9008 Qualcomm, Inc. Gobi Wireless Modem (QDL mode)
To exit 9008 if you decide not to flash anything, just press and hold vol - and power until the phone reboots.
Now, with that said, you still need the firehose. I haven't looked for it yet because I haven't needed it, but there is a V30 (all models except the H932) firehose out there somewhere. Also, of course, you need QFIL.
Now will this help -- as long as there isn't a hardware problem with your phone, you can do anything you want in QDL mode with the understanding that signatures are still checked, so you can only flash V30 (non-H932) firmware. If flashing a KDZ doesn't fix your problem, you must have a problem with a partition that doesn't get flashed from a KDZ. Unfortunately, if you don't know which one, it will be trial and error and you will need a complete dump of a V30 minus EFS.

I had to open my glass back using a plastic guitar pick, hair dryer to soften the glue strip along the edges of the glass back, open the back, remove the wireless charging plate by removing tiny phillips screws (7 of them), and unhook battery ribbon. Then plug in USB cable (without battery power hooked up to phone, the USB will power the phone). This then will go into Qualcomm USB QLD 9008 in Device Manager. If it still won't, then you have to use a tiny wire to short the 2 "test points" (see photo in reddit post, same on V30 as V20) before hooking up USB cable to PC while other end still in phone. Once you plug in PC end of USB cable and give the phone power, this will short the test point and put phone into QLD 9008 mode (last resort). Don't forget to install the Qualcomm QLD 9008 drivers above as some PC needs that to show up in Device Manger and Win10

If the button dance does not work, then you'll have to open the back and disconnect battery ribbon. While battery is unconnected, hold vol. Up and plug in usb-c cable (assuming you already installed Qualcomm qld 9008 drivers, win10 PC running with usb-c cable plugged into usb2 port, not usb3, and Device Manager opened). QLD 9008 will pop up on windows 10 screen.

Great. Samsung and LG have Octoplus box JTAG rescues whereas others don't sell the firehose files to Octoplus and keep them hidden as "proprietary"

Redmi Note 4X. Red Light constantly blinking. What is the culprint?

Hello everyone,
Please help with my situation
My phone is not powering on. Red light (led) is constantly blinking (pretty fast).
I would like to understand why? What is the culprint (soft or hard, etc) of this?
This is what happend (I remember pretty well and exactly):
In the morning I had tried to power up my phone but realized it has discharged completly over night (it happens to me quite often).
So, I put it to charge (connect the cable).
It didn't show the battery logo and charge percent and suprisingly powered ON by itself.
I considered this thing quite odd because it rarely does this. Usually it does this only when it is connected to charging cable (and it if powered off) and the time is arround the time I set an alarm. (but it was passed that time with at least 30minutes)
So I don't know why it powered ON by itself.
It had started booting up normally, showing Android Log, and those loading marbles (points).
I expected to boot properly in a minute or so, as usual.
But it stood there to much time - arround 4,5min (animation was there, so it was not stuck)
So I decided (probably wrongfully) to power it off (pressing the power button 4,5 sec) and restart the phone again.
But after when I tried to power it on or connect to charging, it was only the red led light blinking.
What might have happened? to get the phone in this mode?
Now when I try to connect the phone to computer it is detected as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3). (QUSB_Bulk, before installing drivers)
Like it were in EDL mode. Is this normal or why is it showing like this?
I have found some info about red blinking of death on internet and found that it usually is a problem with power IC, which needs reballing (reheating)
But is this my case also? Because by connecting the phone to the computer it shows Qualcom HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
I did NOT try to update the OS of the phone.
Could I think that it did this by itself without my consent (xiaomi idiots or hacked phone)? And while it did the update I powered it off ? And this is the result (red blinking of death)
Is this a hard (power ic problem) or soft (an update without my consent somehow)?
Thank you.
Hope I didn't write to much. I tried to be as brief as possible.

Do you have any tool for read info from it. if no then is it take flashing from mi flash tool without any error. if you getting any flashing error then reply with screenshot.
Thank you for your answer.
I have tools and know about tools to read and write from it (fastboot, edl mode etc)
I know about Mi Flash Tool and other tools like QPST.
The bootloader of the phone is still locked. I didn't want or try to unlock it.
I have QPST Tool (QFIL flash tool) which I have used in the past.
A few month ago, I put the phone manually in EDL mode, using test points on the motherboard and succesfully backed up the phone.
Ok, so I understand you think this is not a power IC problem like it shows in the youtube video link I have posted ? And that I need to try to reflash.
I don't have much experience with flashing (I did not flash any phone) but I have some knowledge about, as you read above.
I'm gonna try to flash but I need to keep user data . I also think it is advisable to flash the same OS that I had before. (I have to search among saved mobile screenshots to find out exactly what version of MIUI I had)
But I am mostly interested in how the phone got in this situation.
Why over night it switched on while I put it to charge (it was completly discharged) powered on by itself then I powered it off while Android logo was displayed, and then only red blinking led always, no matter what I did.
I mention that I didn't try to update the OS manually because I was well satisfied with the MIUI I had. I know it was an update that the phone notified me since a long time ago. But I did let it or consent to update.
Do you think this problem was because the phone update forced somehow by xioami?

It looks like this was what he was trying to do...was trying to get a remote sim unlock...
He was doing at least steps 1-4 on that list but kept getting some Sahara error and wanted me to go back to download mode again which is when it ended up stuck in edl and only connects via qfil.
Mine is a t mobile variant but it looks like the same steps just different file to flash.

Yes it's the same steps.Try this and it should get you to download mode and do a refurb. with a T-Mobile kdz. and LGUP.Get the device in edl mode.Open Qfil, and choose flat build etc.Load the firehose, and then choose partition manager.Erase, not delete or remove these 4 partions. After you erase these, load these 4 back in the respectful partition places. This will be boot_a,boot_b,recovery_a,and recovery_b.Then restart the device. This should get you back to a working download mode so you can flash a working kdz image back to the device with LGUP.

I will try this again now that the phone has sat a couple days but I believe that's exactly what the "unlock tech" guy was doing and it was giving a Sahara error of some kind. I thought I had a picture of the exact error but I don't.

That would be amazing. The unlock company (unlockboot.com) has been pretty quick to reply and wants to at least put it back to stock even if they can't sim unlock it for me but the biggest downfall now is opening up the back of a water resistant phone that's never been apart just to disconnect the battery.
It would likely take months to drain the battery from 100% to get it out of EDL mode.

This sounds like a very easy fix. You can exit edl by button combination too, you hold vol- and pwr till your fingers hurt. No joke, it will get you out of there, although if it takes that long then it will probably just re-enter edl because it's bricked.

Yeah I've been trying that over and over again for a couple days now. Even took it with me to work and yesterday I was holding vol - and power while driving between jobs in hopes it would randomly come back. While connected to my computer doing so causes it to disconnect briefly but immediately reconnects via qfil USB mode.

That means your device is bricked, it cannot boot therefore only being able to reboot back into edl, I suggest you message me and we will make it bootable.

Just write those 4 files in the zip I uploaded with qfil, and then kick it out of edl mode.Leave the usb cable hooked to it and hold volume down and power until you hear it lose connection with your laptop/desktop.As soon as it does, release and hold volume up.It should boot in to bootloader mode and then write the kdz of your choice with LGUP.

I will try this tomorrow. I don't like to attempt this stuff when I'm tired, mistakes can be costly.

I never ended up trying it again. I cut my losses and used it for parts for my other phone.
