Does anyone have LG cliptray packaged up? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I'm moving from my V30 unfortunately and one thing I'm really missing is LG's cliptray feature. I've spent a long time browsing the filesystem on the V30 to try to find where it's located but haven't had much luck.. So far I've found the cache for things stored in it, the 'permissions' xml for it (and know that the package is named com.lge.software.cliptray but... I am not finding that *anywhere*. Would also be curious to know if it's even possible to port to a non-LG (but rooted) phone.
Thanks!

I used the Cliptray when my V30 mas my operational phone. I have moved onto a Pixel 4a5G and was looking for same function. If you use the Google Keyboard (Gboard) you can turn on the "Clipboard" which lets you save text you have copied (optionally for a period of time) and also allows you to "pin" favourite clips.

Yeah I use Swiftkey which also has something of a clipboard but I find it lacking compared to LGs...

Removing useless apps and getting the TapNTap dock to work on other roms

Hey folks, I have two general questions.
Ill start with the first easy question.
I would like to get the dock app that comes in the stock rom in an apk that will work with other roms. The dock I am referring to is the one that shows the weather and news and other various information in a sort of gigantic widget and you can scroll thru the different screens in the dock for different information (and at the bottom is a list of all the installed apps). And I would like all of the apks that this dock app uses as well.
I have tried just pulling out the dock.apk file out of the stock image file and sideloading it, but the problem is, it crashes the tab on bootup with every rom I have tried.
This second question is a bit more tricky because every rom has different apps they decide to include that are simply not necessary. If an app is available on the Google Market, I dont want it preinstalled with the rom, I will install it manually myself. If an app is installed that does not make use of the hardware (see the Phone apk), this app is using resources for absolutely no reason I can see and should not be included with the rom.
So, what I am looking for is, a list of all apps that normally come on a stock Google phone (in other words, apks that are included with the Android stock rom BEFORE manufacturers add their usual crap to it) that can be safely removed from all roms for the Gtab because the Gtab does not have the hardware to utilize said app (I would think anything like messaging, the phone, or the gps).
I am not looking for guesses here, I am looking for someone who knows a bit about Android and can safely determine what can be removed that is COMPLETELY useless regarding the GTab because of its hardware.
If you are still completely confused, here is a link to a website where someone has done something similar to what I am talking about with Windows. Read the paragraph or two at the top and then click a link below the paragraph based on the version of Windows you have. This will tell you services you can safely disable. I am looking for the same thing for the Gtab.

[Q] Bluetooth data transfer, Webtop, OTA.. couple of questions

Hi everyone,
I noticed my razr seems a bit picky about what can be sent or received via bluetooth:
i wanted to send a .apk to a friend of mine but the transfer via screen did not show bluetooth
as an option and when my friend tried to send me a .bin file but my phone didn't even asked to
accept, his just showed an abort. i also tried sending with another explorer, but it just called the
same transfer-options window. he then tried to send a photo which worked just fine.
I noticed similar behaviour in webtop, don't quite remember the filetype, but the explorer just declined with "unknown filetype".
Is there an easy workaround for this behaviour? i am already rooted, so playing with configs wouldn't
be a problem, don't really like installing all kinds off aps for small tasks.
Then there's webtop.( i am using it with a 8€ hdmi cable of amazon nebtop and the logitech ps3
bluetooth keyboard with touchpad just fyi)
firefox does not seem to have a flash 10 plugin, which means that i can open some flash-based content on the
phone-browser but not in webtop! is there a way around that?
Also, i don't really get the goggledocs login feature, as it just seems to be downloading my docs but then
still opens them in firefox, which quite frankly is too slow.
Seeing the various webtop-hacks on this board i get the urge to try them but i am expecting the effort
to go wasted once an OTA comes around. (?)
regarding OTA, i am in germany on an unbranded razr and have not yet received the first one. as i said,
i am rooted and have course frozen some bloatware. while i have read this prevents me from installing an update,
would i still be notified?
well back to the possibilities the hdmi port gives us: when using my bt keyboard in mirror mode , android functions are scattered all over the board,
[home] does home, [esc] does back and the menu button for blueray works as the menu button, i have not yet found a search button,
it just starts searching when i start typing.
while this is pretty logical, i could use [home] for its traditional purpose now and then. where would i have to fiddle around to rebind keys?
does every keyboard send the same buttonpresscodes or would i have to find those first (probably via some kind of shell?)
i think those are all my questions for now, some insight would really be apreciated.
best regards
hey doenis,
did you ever tried to rename the files? some files seemed to be not "sendable" in old OS's like Symbian S60v5. Maybe it'S still in Android?
And the WebTop... Tried another browser? Not sure, but maybe Opera will support? i've never tried this, but maybe that's the way?
The keyboard... It's out of my knowledge, but would it be logical that every keyboard is sending another keydown argument for the same key? sound not logical for me... maybe there'S some config file? but i would be careful by changing keyboard settings in configuration files...

the root fileexplorer as part of the rom-toolbox by jrummy16 calls a send-to window including all options
on unknown filetypes, where the stock explorer would say ~"action can not be carried out by any programm"
(when pressing share) so that's working now.
using an other browser: thats kind of the problem, the way i get it webtop is pretty closed down, that's
why i'm thinking about applying one of the hacks around here.
gruesse zurueck
ok today root explorer does not offer bluetooth transfer for any filetype and i noticed
that even the gmail client won't offer downloading several filetypes, in this
case .zip and .gz, which my milestone would accept without any problems.
i need some help here people.
You may have flash problems in webtop regardless of hack status or which browser you use. Flash is not open source. Adobe would need to compile flash 10 for ARM processors for a plugin to work. I do not believe that they have and (since they are abandoning mobile devices) I don't believe they will.
Any software that you would want to run on a hacked webtop environment would need to be compiled for ARM. With open source stuff, you can always compile it yourself. With closed source stuff you are at the mercy of the software's developers and unlikely to find much that will work.
Using the Ubuntu hack should make other opensource office suites available to you, but the likelihood of them being a simple point and click install is low.
I have not noticed any problems with the Firefox browser on my lapdock. I am able to view all flash content just fine. Don't really know what the problem might be there.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
theres some flash-content running, probably most of it, so i guess the important things i tried use flash 11, too bad
so did anybody else notice the ignorance regarding several filetypes?
the other issues are probably solvable with some research, but any input
will still be appreciated.

[Q] Why is gps.conf not changable?

I live in europe, I have had several android devices (from most of the different Manufacturers).
On almost every phone I've had problems with slow/bad gps locks.. the fix, almost every time editing gps.conf to put in the
european ntp servers... this also meant rooting the phone...
Most of the time I actually don't care about rooting, I'm happy with the stock rom as is...
WHY do we have to root the devices to get them to work like they should?
I mean during first bootup of the phone when locales are chosen, why can't it set the correct ntp servers to where the device is going
to be used?
Am I totally stupid and missing something or are the manufacturers (or Android developers (Google)) stupid?
Anybody have any insight on this, or is it just going to be one of life's big mysteries?

I used ES File Viewer. Go into the settings and choose Root Settings and check everything. I still wasn't able to save my changes so I copied gps.conf to another folder, made my changes and saved it. Then I copied my edited file back to the etc folder. It allowed me to replace the original file.
It hasn't fixed my GPS problem but at least I got that part done.
Good Luck!

Try the app FasterGPS

it does exactly what you are describing.

S8+ (samsung not rooted in general) how to overwrite/replace system apps

I am 99% sure this isn't possible but figured I'd ask in a more general forum (GS8+ was a bust) on if there is a way to replace system apps without root(or an easy way to change a system apk to 'clone' and install on the user side by looking like a different app.)
I've figured out what needs done to force the Samsung Dex app to run without the dock, but due to many reasons cannot side load the altered apk. Changing the app name, installation directory, etc. the phone still sees it as the same apk/app and will not install it. Can't change the version and overwrite from what I can tell because I can't sign it with the samsung key obviously.
thoughts? Directions?
Only thing I can see to do, is rewrite the app complete (names, folder structure, etc. of the needed parts) to actually make it a completely new app to the phone. This looks to be many many hours of work and the route I least want to go. If I can help it.
i know its a old thread, but what needs to be done to force Dex? I have a hard time on my note 10+ it keeps saying faulty usb-c port due to some kind of water not there.

file, i.e., text editor that monitors/detects file changes (locally)

Hello @all,<br>I'm kinda new to "asking a question on a forum" hence I kindly ask you in advance to be a bit apologetic for any blunder I'm going to 'produce' .. thx
The reason me being 'new' is because usually I find my way around—not that I consider myself almighty but a simple Google-search does it's magic .. usually. This time I ran out of luck, which surprised me (even a search-string-overhaul was to no avail).
I'm looking for a neat text/script editor that is capable of monitoring file-changes that may happen in the background while a file is open .. a standard for any given IDE on a PC-environment (in fact, the simplest notepad replacement would cover such basics). Or a precocious check upon file-saving would be sufficient. As of now every App I tried so far failed to notice when I "sneak into my own phone and 'secretly' modify a file" currently open by this very App (of course, there are different scenarios conceivable why a file might have changed, though). QuickEdit looked promising but .. alas .. and why the heck is no there UltraEdit available for Android .. but I reckon this would be an entirely different topic and too much to ask.
ps: chose the 'post'-icon because it seemed fit .. although in a slightly different way than probably intended
pps: for the non-working line-break .. just use your imagination
