Hello, i asked this question over at the Tab S6 but haven’t gotten any replies so I thought i would ask here since its a newer device.
I want to be able to uninstall apps that come pres-installed on the tab and would like a list, if possible, of apps that i can safely uninstall without affecting the tab itself. I would not be using a lot of the apps so i want to free up as much storage and ram as possible. That only thing I will be using the tab for is:
Lightroom, photoshop, snapseed, Facebook, instagram, Flipboard, youtube, firefox browser, file manager and Google play to download mentioned apps and keep them updated.
I would be using ADB to remove unwanted apps, i dont want to root my tab as i want to be able to perform future updates.
Thanks in advance.
Enable USB debugging.
check apps ids from app info , for an example "com.google.youtube"
wirte all of them on plain paper.
then
Use ADB with correct command.

Hi have a look at the S5e threads there is a list of apps to uninstall there
Related
like widgets? such as "apmobiles", seems to be a newspaper sort of thing i will never read. i also can't uninstall social/music/gaming/book hubs? i'm in the setting/applications/manage applications bit.
i want to basically delete a LOT of apps then only install what I need? i'm new to smartphones, moved from a nokia keypad phone. so the galaxy s2 was a massive jump for me.
Have a search for titanium backup and root. You'll need to root your phone 1st before you can 'freeze' but not remove apps.
The phone is brand new and it will take a while before custom roms that let you remove apps are available.
If I were you I'd wait before rooting as it is still a bit complicated and simpler methods will come along soon, I'm sure. I'd use the time to read the guides and get familiar with the phone.
Bear in mind that rooting/custom roms will lose you your warranty. Also, I'm not too worried about app removal as the phone has plenty of memory for my needs. Just remove the apps you don't want from the home screen and put on the ones that you do.
Edit: just wanted to clarify that I was referring to removing pre - installed apps.

Thanks for that, it's that I also noticed that there are services running in the background from applications that I'm not using, like I have the apmobile service running and also a social hub service running even neither is open. And I at least want to remove app shortcuts from the menu.
You'll need to root and freeze to remove the shortcut from the app drawer. I really wouldn't do that until you've read up and are confident though.
There are other threads about the social hub, have a search. I think you'll need to reset the phone and then not add any accounts if you want to stop it from being active.

To add-up about removing the widgets (probably you've found it already though), you only need to hold down the widget and slide it down to an area says remove
this phone comes with a built in task manager and a widget that shows you active tasks, i use the widget on my phone's desktop to close apps as needed ( i know the phone can handle it but its just my own thing lol ) and from there, there's a tab that lets you uninstall apps as well.
ofcourse you wont be able to uninstall those that came with the phone just yet.
I rooted mine which was dead easy and was my first time so you'll be fine. Download AntTek app manager from the market its free and lets you freeze, delete and backup any apps and widgets you want. You will no longer have any of those crap apps working in the background draining your battery. Hope this helps.
Edit: Oh yeah the built in task manager doesn't show system apps working in the background or at least not all so well worth freezing or removing them.
I am running android 4.0.3 on a Samsung galaxy s2 from vodafone and will like to have a light firmware. What processes or apps can I remove without affecting the way the phone functions (i.e. google partner setup). Is it possible to create a program to remove all unwanted processes without flashing a new ROM.
I'll also like to increase the connectivity speed to HSPA+.
Addition of new information.
I came across this article on XDA's main page and thought I share it. It is self explanatory and I think it should work on any version. Please any question should be directed to the forum OP. Enjoy

My favorite app is called titanium backup, it lets you remove everything you want and if you make a mistake you can restore what you deleted. The freeze option on the paid version is really good.
Titanium Backup is easily the most useful app for any rooted phone. The paid version is not much better than the free version, other than giving the developer some support and appreciation. It lets you freeze apps so they no longer appear in your app drawer, and even uninstall bloatware that you specifically select. It's a must have and it will definitely save you more than once! Hope this helps

I recently rooted my GS4 using the steps outlined in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
First, a big THANKS to all those responsible for this latest root process. The vast majority of us have no idea the lengths in which you go in order to stay on top of the rooting process. My deepest respect.
Now, I would like to uninstall some of the bloatware installed on this phone. I understand there is a school of thought which dictates one should simply "freeze" an unwanted app instead of uninstalling it. In my opinion, as long as the app will never be used AND will not cause a system meltdown if uninstalled, it should be uninstalled. That being said, I would like some objective opinions on the following apps. The main app I would like removed is Knox. In addition...
- All Amazon related apps, save the main Amazon app
- Audible
- Caller Name ID
- Flipboard
- Google (appears at the bottom of the recent apps screen)
- Google+
- IMDb
- All Verizon related apps
- Optical Reader
- NFL Mobile
- All Google Play related apps save the Play Store
- Polaris 5
- TripAdvisor
- WatchON
Again, what is (are) the ramification(s) of uninstalling one or more of these apps? What is the best way to uninstall a bloatware type app? If using Titanium Backup to simply "freeze" the app is best, what are the steps in doing this?

I do not know if this option was available before root but if you go to the list of apps and click the menu button (lower left of phone), you will see a "Hide Applications" option. Once clicked, a check box will appear next to each app. Once you select each application you want to hide and click Done, you will be left with only the applications you want to use. This includes Knox.
I do not know well this will work going forward but, for now, I am good. Does anyone know if this will permanently restrict Knox?
check this tool out just make sure you read and then re read lol http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313341

so what can i do? and what app are very important for the system?
just have a look in the auto start manager or in the file device-->system-->app....
thank you verry much and sorry for my english

I would also be interested in this. You can see that the stock software has a lot of apps installed that aren't visible from the Apps screen, and some of them are surely useless (like all the update services, parental controls etc.). So it would be nice if there was a list of what all of those apps are for and whether it's safe to remove them (and how to remove them in the first place).
I am aware of package disablers and notice how quick these paid apps get removed from the Play Store. I personally prefer to use ADB to remove apps. For most of my non-rooted devices, I keep a list of what I can through ADB. Junk like Facebook, YouTube, Drive, and so on. However, Samsung devices seem to have a lot more bloatware than most other devices. This is my first Samsung device since the Galaxy Nexus. Would anyone have the actual package names for the following apps so I can use ADB to remove them?
Email
Galaxy Apps
Gallery
Game Launcher
Samsung Gear
Samsung Health
Samsung Note
Samsung Pay
Samsung+
Secure Folder
Smart Switch
SmartThings
Thanks in advance!
Use Application Inspector from the Play Store.

Lots you can get rid of. I have an issue where every now and then it says "Galaxy Apps has stopped" and I need to hit a button, but others have not had that issue.
