So, I have found that OnePlus Nord 2 doesn't play nicely with Private DNS. If you set your own designated DNS like Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 or Google DNS or Adguard DNS you will get some pop-ups saying failed to connect to the Private DNS.
This happens when you turn on your mobile data or connect wifi after around 15/20 Mins of inactivity. The pop-up will come right way then sometimes it connects after the pop-up but some other times you have to set private Dns to auto then change it again, which is annoying.
+1 facing the same issue. on mobile data
Working with wifi.
I am always on adguard dns... Not facing such issue... At my home i use BSNL Fiber internet, outside Airtel and Jio mobile data and at office DeeNet Broadband..
But now i checked on my wife's Realme 5 Pro it has Vi network and shows same error message..

Always facing the issue when switching from wifi to mobile data.
Had oneplus 6 before this and was not facing any such issue.
Using (nextdns.io) as private dns.

I just hope, they fix this issue with a update. It's pretty annoying.
I have enabled Mobile data always active from developer option. With that enabled the handover from wifi to mobile data seem to be fine and I am not seeing that annoying pop up to disable private dns

my ROM is Jellybam, 5.1
since yesterday i havnt been able to connect to WIFI or to my mobile network.
for example the wifi, it says that it has connected to my router, but i still can't surf the internet.
same thing with the mobile network, it shows on the top of the screen that im on "H+" or "3g" but i still can't access the internet.
I've never had such a problem..what to do?
thanks.
U tried play store?

check the access point on your phone to see if is pointing to the apn for your provider. To check access point go to menu - settings - more settings - mobile networks - access point names.
On wifi check your router to see if it sees your phone. The router may need a static ip or the router version is out of date and doesn ot support the wifi of your phone.

already done it. my mobile network settings(APN) are fine.
and i even tried to connect to my friend's wifi and still nothing. it connects, but there is no signal and i cant use the internet.
try calling your provider, your account may need to be reset to get rid of the problem with the phone internet.
To check on wifi you may need to try another kernal as there mabe an issue with the wifi files in the kernal.
but how is it possible? i had this ROM for 3 weeks and never had a problem with my internet connection. and i havn't changed my kernel or my modem since i flashed the ROM.
and the internet access and the WIFI problem had started at the same time. so i assumed that there's just 1 problem that causes the wifi and the network problem.
internet and wifi are seperate problems it is a coincident that they both failed at the same time.
Wifi software issues are located in the kernal. Internet issues could also be kernal or firmware related. These issues could strike at any time without warning.
We know it is not a hardware issue as it connects, so it must be a software isuue.

Hi!
I just got my new Honor 7 and I'm now experiencing a major flaw: I can connect to my WIFI, but won't get Internet connection.
Details:
- Wifi router supports 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, same error on both.
- IP Configuration (DNS, Gateway, DHCP) set to same as on Laptop and other android devices - all other devices working fine
- When connected to Wifi, Phone can be pinged by other devices & phone can ping other devices
- Phone cannot ping the router but is shown in it's "connected devices" list (correct MAC adress and everything)
- When opening a Wifi Hotspot from my Notebook (forwarding the router's wifi), Phone can connect to internet & ping router (everything works perfectly)
How is it possible that if my Notebook forwards the router's wifi everything works perfect but I can't get it working by connecting directly?
Hope any of you can help me with my problem!
Best regards
Do you use a MAC filter? Sounds like your router blocks the connection.
Gesendet von meinem PLK-L01 mit Tapatalk
Nope, no MAC-Filter in use!
As i said the device gets listet among all other (working) devices in the router's DHCP devices list...
Sounds like a router issue. Any way to check if WiFi works on somebody else's WiFi? Suggest maybe change channels that WiFi is transmitting on the router

The Wifi on the device seems to work fine:
Wifi Hotspot made by notebook works, Public Wifi at Shopping Mall worked fine .. Checking more Networks tomorrow!
\\EDIT: Both Networks at my University work fine.
Is your subnet mask 255.255.255.0 or something else for the gateway? This affects the network prefix length. Also check DNS, try static setting instead of dhcp and use Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

What is Gateway IP address and what is the Subnet mask?

Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 , according to that prefix length is set to 24.
Can't get DNS , nothing changes when changing to google!
I noticed that when I do an arp scan for the network, I can find other devices but not the router. On my old phone the router will show up on arp scan!
If router can see phone, then assign it static IP address, then add that IP address to DMZ - that way it's fully open. Sadly with routers it's a matter of narrowing down the problem with trial and error to resolve. You can also try temporarily deactivating firewall, and/or temporarily removing WiFi security to see if any difference.

Router can see phone! I have just added it's temporary IP as DMZ Host to check whether it solves the problem - and it does!
When the phone is set as DMZ Host in the router it can ping the router and connect to the internet (so far it seems like any other device).
Before setting the static IP and using this method permanently, I'd like to ask if this causes any changes to other users in the Network ? I am sharing the router with two other people using it for phones, tablets, IPTV etc.
I'm sorry I have no idea what DMZ is exactly.
Thank you very much for your help so far!
No problem. It's not really a permanent solution as it just opens up the IP address to all traffic. It does mean that the router is somehow blocking the phone in normal conditions. This could be for all sorts of reasons, firewall rules on the router, or port forwarding, or Mac filtering, or IP filtering, difficult to say. DMZ shouldn't affect the other users.

I'm not too sure about this router's configuration because it is a rather cheap NoName device provided by the ISP while at my home I'm used to AVM devices.
But I can nowhere spot any specific rules, there's not even a single port-forwarding set on the device. So I can't spot anything that could be blocking my phone :.
Anyway I have just removed my phone from DMZ, reconnected it to the Wifi and so far it's still working fine!
Even if I have to re-do this procedure every now and then after device reboots it shouldn't be a problem.
I have no Idea on how temporary setting it up as DMZ haschanged everything, but for now I'd consider the issue solved! I owe you one for this
Sorry that i have to reopen this old thread but i have the same problem with my HONOR 7.
I have Wifi Connection on my phone but the internet isnt working.
Curious is the fact that this problem only happens in my wifi at home and at my girlfriend (same router and telecommunication provider). At other wifi's everything is working fine.
I hope you can help me.
(sorry for the bad english)

Set the Wifi band permanent anywhere between 1 to 10 and try connecting it.

Tested all 10 channels but still no internet.
Also tested disabling the WPA/WPA2 PSK safety but same result.
Put it in DMZ, find DHCP table and see which IP adress phone get, put that adress in DMZ, DMZ settings are on the same place as NAT (usually). I think that phone cannot get DNS server from router because of some rule in firewall, but try to ping 8.8.8.8 from phone without setting up DMZ, if DNS is problem he should ping that adress but not be able to load page in browser....
@ MaxMonument94 can u connect to any other Wifi ? or all having same issue ?
The internet connection is working in any other network exept the network at my girlfriends place but she has the same router/provider as i have.
If there are any german users, we both got “telecolumbus“ as internet provider.
Now its just more curious.
After i entered the IP in DMZ my ookla speedtest on my phone showed perfect results.
Also the Chrome browser loaded pages and other apps (like 9GAG, Telegram, Whatsapp) worked for a while without any problem. But after a while they all got connection problems (page dont load, waiting for connection on telegram, GIFs dont load).
After that i started a new speedtest and the results were again quite good.
Then the same procedure again and again.
I have really no clue what kind of problem that is.
Btw: my mobile internet was disabled all the time to dont distort the results.
When that happens again, try to ping 8.8.8.8 and tell me what is output, remember ping it when it wont work....
I have pinged 8.8.8.8 with Android Terminal Emulator
The results in the screenshot.
In my school we have a WiFi network which require you to log in through a web browser. It's the first page that pops up when accessing the internet. But because I have to login before I can use the internet Android thinks the network doesn't have an internet connection and therefore uses my mobile data which in turn means that the login page doesn't show when I try to use chrome. And I have to switch off mobile data to force the phone to use the WiFi network.
Long story short: Is there a way to disable mobile data completely when connected to a WiFi network, regardless of the WiFi's internet availability?
No, there is no way to disable mobile data expect if you disable mobile data by your own.

Or use Tasker to do the trick.
Or use macrodroid to disabke Mobile Data if connected with your prefered WLAN.
I'm using a Pixel 2, with the latest updates, and I'm constantly getting issues when roaming WiFi within my house.
I have 3 AP's from Mikrotik, properly configured, and I don't have no issues at all with other devices like my iPad or Surface Pro/Book, etc.
But once in a while, my Pixel get's stuck in the state "Connected, No Internet" and it keeps retrying... until after a couple of minutes (5 or more) it properly connects...
Is there a way to disable this?
Another thing that I've noticed is that often the device only connects to the WiFi (switching from LTE) only when I unlock it or wake up the device. Have anyone noticed something similar with Pixel 2 or other devices? Any recommendations?
Cheers,
anthonws.
Hey, I don't own a Pixel but a Note9 but would certainly try to help you.
Do you have 2.4 Ghz router or do you connect to a 5 GHz SSID? If yes to the former, have you tested different channels. Interference in some rare cases can cause unstable internet. You can use the Wifi Analyzer app on the play store to test.
I had fixed a similar problem on my older S7e by assigning static IP to it. Try this as well. Static IP can be configured on your router as well as on your device itself.
Android do has options to set Wifi Aggressiveness. See if you have set Wifi Aggressive Mode (it connects to Mobile data even if Wifi is slightly unstable). There's also two more options (in developer options) that are worth checking: Wifi safe mode and Wifi power saving mode.
I understand that these options are hard to find and that's what made me initiate this guide. Do have a look.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. My WiFi is properly tuned. No channel overlapping. I'm using 5Ghz band only, same SSID and different channels, and bespoke antenna gains to reduce signal overlap.
None of those options are available in Google Pixel 2. No Power Save Mode and no Safe Mode. Only the option to have Mobile connectivity in background for Fast Switching.
My ask is more towards on how to disable the connectivity check from Android. Nothing else. I know I have Internet access. I know my AP's are all working properly. It's just something with Android...

Hi guys,
Weird problem:
Since I'm on Android 12, my Nord 2 loses internet connection on open wifi networks.
On Android 11, never had a problem. I choose the open wifi at work ''AZ-D guest'' (free Wi-Fi from the hospital), and stayed connected all day.
Since A12, once I connect to the same open wifi at work, the pop up screen asks to agree the policy and I can use the network a few minutes. After a screen off and unlock screen, the wifi stays connected, but notifies ''no internet''
Forget network and reconnect: no pop up screen appears to reconnect, only solution is restart the phone...
Same problem with the free WiFi network from my internet provider called ''Telenet Hotspot'', also one time able to connect, but after a few minutes of inactivity, stays WiFi connected, but 'no internet'
Tried already:
- reset Network settings
- change private DNS to cloudflare or Google DNS , or without DNS
- disabled 'standby optimisation during sleep'
- use static AP
- use device MAC address
Nothing helps...
Any solutions?

No option, I like my OS up to date, not easy with this device's late update policy
