Hello everyone..
I just got hands on LG V30+ carrier device from ntt docomo model number to be exact L-01K It's network unlocked and using adb debloat i have managed to get rid of almost docomo japan apps.
But i am stuck on android 9 pie. I tried to unlock bootloader official way but my device doesn't go for fastboot. I was wondering someone had this device and whether if it's possible to unlock and flash custom recovery..thank you
before you flash anything to your L-01k you need to backup the modem partitions with LG UP.

Here is elf file if you dont have. You can go to qualcomm mode by plugging in usb cable in mobile and press volume - and power button and when black screen show keep pressing volume +. you also need to install qualcomm drivers to detect mobile in windows.
Thanks a lot for the files and advice! Will try to restore the modem now..
dont restore ftm i mentioned it by mistake.
I can't figure out how to flash the files back using QFIL. I was in download mode volup then connect USB, same as you do it with LGUP). But that didn't work. QFIL says "Download Failed switch to Emergency Download Mode".
I also tried flashing the modem.bin with TWRP (backup in TWRP, then replace modem.emmc.win with modem.bin and rename that accordingly, then restore backup in TWRP. But that did not work (SIM Card not recognized and no IMEI). Then I flashed back the original modem.emmc.win backup to fix sim card and IMEI.
I think I am missing the XML file for QFIL?
first install qualcomm drivers.
plug usb cable to pc and mobile. hold volume down and power button at same time and when black screen show on mobile keep pressing (don't hold) volume up without leaving other buttons.
when qualcomm mode is detected > run qfil and select port and than > select flat build and > elf file in programmer path and > select ufs storage type in bottom right.
then go to tools > partition manager and there you can find all the partitions first backup and than restore which i said before.
these backups will not work in twrp i think.
don't mix this with download mode in which we can go with just volume up and put cable in pc. if you don't know please google it first its qualcomm mode.
if you have fastboot try this command in fastboot:
fastboot reboot edl
if that works than just follow other steps. to quit this mode press volume down and power button for few seconds. in this mode screen just stay black and nothing will display on your screen.
OK found a youtube video on how to get into EDL 9008 mode:
- Connect the smartphone via USB to the computer.
- On the switched-on smartphone, hold VOL- and POWER
- As soon as the screen turns off, keep holding the VOL- and POWER buttons and simultaneously press VOL + quickly.
- The smartphone will have a black screen, and in the device manager on the PC will be "QUSB_BULK_CID: xxxx_SN: xxxxxxxx" or "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM x)
OK, that worked for me (windows device manager reported "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008) , but when I wanted to use the partition manager in QFIL i get the "Download Fail Sahara QSaharaServer Fail: Process Fail "
I'll try this now:
-downgrade to Nougat H930 KDZ ( H93010v_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1120.kdz)
in fastboot: (Using the modem.bin, modemst1.bin, modemst2.bin from L-01k QFIL dump)
fastboot erase modem (enter)
fastboot erase modemst1 (enter)
fastboot erase modemst2 (enter)
fastboot oem lock (enter)
fastboot flash modem modem.bin (enter)
fastboot flash modem modemst1.bin (enter)
fastboot flash modem modemst2.bin (enter)
EDIT: it didn't work
But at least I know now how to get into Download Mode from a Bootloop:
1. Connect USB to PC
2. press Vol+, Vol-, Power until the phone restarts with black screen
3. immediately release Vol- and Power and keep pressing Vol+
.. voila.. Download mode
did you add the v30 file in proggamer path in qfil which i provided and changed the storage type to ufs?
yes, I used that firehose V30 file and I verified that storage is set to UFS.
have you fixed it?
nope, but after flashing the modem with ADB and also trying the V300k Korean ROM, I have learned how to fix a near bricked V30 by using 9008 Qualcomm unbrick mode back to life .
I think the only way to fix this is if a L-01k KDZ is released or someone manages to root his L-01k without overwriting the modem and uploads his complete TWRP backup.
Thanks guys for ur help. It seems like no bootloader unlock for my LG L-01K. So modem backup didn't work. I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish i had rooted my device. But i can't even unlock the bootloader. I want to try custom roms so badly. I guess i have to stuck with android pie. Thanks again.

do you have wifi working and your imei is not null?
wifi works, IMEI exists, says Sim card 1 is "PERM locked".
I'm on H93020d_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0326.kdz now.
The same Sim card works perfectly in my LG G8s

Hey guys, Been on XDA for a long time but never really had any issues until now.....
So I took the lollipop OTA and was waiting on a root method. I got the G3 rooted using the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772?nocache=1
Everything went fine and I was rooted and messing around when I went to uninstall the Xposed framework (not even sure why I wanted to...) anyway, once I hit reboot the phone rebooted but then got suck on the LG boot screen. I tried getting into stock recovery, but it showed up on the screen quickly and went back into the boot loop. I can't access download mode either....when I try it takes me straight to fastboot.
I am no adb or fastboot expert but I figured I would at least use adb comands to pull all the media files off of my internal memory (pics and vids of the kids) then use the LG flash tool to go back to stock. But when I open the command prompt adb devices doesn't show any devices listed....so no go there. Then I tried to reinstall laf.img but the fast boot command just sits there "waiting for device" and nothing ever happens.
I have literally spend all day at work trying to fix this...I've searched all over the forum and Google and can't find a method that will work for my situation. Please excuse my ignorance if I am not using these terms correctly. I really just want the pics off of my internal memory. I'll deal with unbricking later....but it seems like if I can't access recovery or download then I might not be able to do that either. Can anyone help? THANKS!
If you can please upload the screen your phone is on. Or possibly describe it a little more. If you can get adb working you can pull your whole picture directory(s). What OS are you running? Like windows/mac or linux?
---------- Post added at 08:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:02 PM ----------
On your computer if your on linux I have some files that I made that may help you. They may work on mac. If your on windows I will go ahead and link a tool. The files go and reboot your phone via adb and fastboot commands.
I'm on windows 7. when I go into recovery the screen shows Recovery mode. Then at the top, Error : boot certification verify.Secure booting error. Then the screen goes black and the led cycles red-blue.
If I try to get into download mode, the phone goes right to the fastboot screen. But then I cannot verify the device is connected by either adb commands or fast boot commands. Thanks
When your on one of the screens that work try these commands:
adb devices
fastboot devices
This should tell you if it is connected. Also what recovery are you running?
Ive tried both commands and neither show any connections. The fast boot and adb devices commands both return a blank line. and any other commands return an no connection error.
I tried installing twrp after the initial rooting process but it wasn't successful... but at that point I could still boot into the os. Then I screwed around with the Xposed framework and I've been stuck ever since.
I can't think of anything else if you can't get any connections working then you can't extract your photos and you can't boot. Only thing that I can thing to do is to go to sprint a get a new phone. If you don't mind please explain how you installed it to prevent more bricks.
Did u make sure u have good working version of the lge USB drivers? If u do, when u hold power up when phone is off and plug in the USB cable, your phone will turn on w the update firmware screen. Under com ports in device manager u should see your phone. Make sure u change your device port number to 41. Then flash tool will work.
Thanks to those who tried to help! Just wanted to give an update......
Here's what happened...I rooted ZV4 when I first got the phone and never installed any other roms or custom recovery. Root was broken when I installed the ZV6 OTA (I knew that would happen going in). So then I took the ZV8 OTA in hopes that I would be able to find a working root method after it was out for a while.
I rooted stock ZV8 with the guide listed in the first post (which has been updated since I originally used it). No problems.
I tried installing TWRP with the file I got from TWRP website specific to LS990. It failed and I can't remember why at the moment. I am still confused if I needed the bump'd version or not and I still am not sure what bump'd is (I've read about it) but that's my problem....
I was playing around granting SU permissions to all my apps that lost it at the OTA update and I wanted to uninstall the Xposed framework thru the app since it does not function in ZV8. When I went to uninstall, the app did its thing and rebooted the phone....and it never booted back up again.
At that point there was no access to recovery or download mode. It went straight to fastboot and I was never able to send any commands that did anything of use. I tried 3 different PC's, installing android sdk (with adb and fastboot) and LG drivers on all of them and I never got any communications to the phone except for one time where I was able to send fastboot commands that showed on the phone screen...but it kept hanging. I let it go for hours and it never finished/did anything. I tried fastboot commands to flash laf.img and recovery.img but nothing worked. I even used a Ubuntu live usb on 2 different PC's to just get the data off and try adb and fastboot but no comms there either.
Somehow I must have corrupted some of the partitions in the internal memory and I was not able to recover it. I know just enough to get me into trouble apparently. I've been flashing phones since my original Sprint Windows 6.1 touchscreen and never bricked one until now LOL.
I took the phone to Best Buy because I have the geek squad protection...but it is worthless for software issues...they wanted $150 deductible to replace the phone with a refurb...cheaper than a new phone but still worthless in my eyes for this issue. Then I went to sprint where the tech worked on it for 2 hours before he finally gave up. Sprint replaced my phone for $75...so not too bad. But I had to get their TEP, as luck would have it...it is open enrollment month for the protection so they gave me a $75 credit on my bill.
So the moral of the story...be careful messing around with the Xposed framework.
Just to let you know, it was your aboot. ZV8, L, aboot blocks bumped. So twrp is already bumped, err false signed. Well open bumped is way LG patched aboot.
Also windows sucks, use linux. Lol at less for fastboot
I'm having this exact problem too. Root went fine, but then when I flashed the recovery I got this same problem and it boots straight to Fastboot (when I'm lucky enough for anything to happen). Someone please help!
Run this command fastboot boot <recovery name here>
It will set your devices boot.img to twrp for one reboot then it will go back to your normal boot.img.

Did you try changing the action mode setting on the flash tool from "update DL" to "board DL"? Also make sure you have latest lg drivers and be on at least windows 7. I tried on vista and it will not work because you have to manually change the com port your device is on to com41 under the port section in device manager. Lgflash tool will say 41 but u actually have to change it. Let us know what happens. Oh and be sure phone is off and hold the " up" volume key then plug your phone into your computer

I followed these suggestion & it worked on my LS990 (Sprint G3) : On LG FlashTool I switched to Board DL instead of Upgrade DL
Your phone will reboot to the AAT Screen – Click OK (Yes, it says not to), then press normal boot (+power).
Your phone will reboot and all should be well.
It seems to have helped a few people get past that screen
Hopefully This Should Help Just About Everyone Having These Problems!

33.Plug in the MicroUSB Cable Back into the LG G3
34.Let LG FlashTool do its Thing
35.After ~5 Minutes the LG Flash Tool Should Say “PASS!!”
36.If You Have a Blue Screen on Your LG G3, This is Good
37.Blue Screen Should Say “Factory Reset Status” with the Number 3
38.Unplug the MicroUSB Cable from the LG G3
39.Remove the Battery and then Replace it
40.Power the LG G3 Up
41.You Should See the LG G3 Boot to the Setup Screen
42.This Means You are Back to the Stock Firmware with No Root
If These Steps Havent Gotten Your Phone Fully Functional Then Hopefully You At Least Made It To A BlueScreen With Factory Reset With Number 2 Or 3. If 3 Then Reboot Your Phone And It Should Boot Normally, If Not Or If You Have A Number 2 Then Follow These Final Steps
- FACTORY RESET STATUS 2
I followed these suggestion & it worked on my LS990 (Sprint G3) : On LG FlashTool I switched to Board DL instead of Upgrade DL
Your phone will reboot to the AAT Screen – Click OK (Yes, it says not to), then press normal boot (+power).
Your phone will reboot and all should be well.
It seems to have helped a few people get past that screen
Hopefully This Should Help Just About Everyone Having These Problems!

Thank you so much for your help! I bricked my G3, unfortunately, and found your steps! I am currently only getting the security error. I tried to reflash using lg flash tools, but I get a 'Model information check failed' error when i try to. I'm definitely using a tot file for the VS895 (which is my version). If there is any guidance you may be able to provide I would be very grateful!!
thank you!

Hows it going, have you tried selectiong "Board DL" instead of "Upgrade DL" on FlashTools?
Or the best thing id try to do is use the LG Firmware Extractor and using the TOT file for your model phone select and extract the following files..you may may have to change the extensions to .img after extracted
boot
aboot
recovery
laf
dbi
modem
persist
primartgpt
rpm
stl1
tz
And Follow Step 1

Hi,
my LG-D160 is rooted and with twrp.
In the past i installed an unofficial Cyanogen 11 for LG-D170, which was not fully working. So i restored the backup with twrp which i made before Cyanogenmod flashing with twrp. In the hardware information of android i could see the model name "LG-D170", which is wrong. The phone seems to work.
Now i want to flash stock rom kdz. I use the lg flashtool 2014, Windows 10 64 bit.
If i start into Download Mode / Firmware Update (by pressing the "volume up" button and connection the USB cable + also holding "volume up") and start the LG flashtool 2014. In the flash tool "software upgrade in progress" stops at 2% and tells me to switch of phone, put usb cable .... and to "retry".
Any ideas ? Thank you.

Try to manually flash the files, see if the volume up mode recognizes your phone in fastboot, if it does, you can try out my tool (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6vSHGXxJIWmVjRVMlRSQW9HWWs) and from there you can manually flash it.
You need to change the info on the build.prop to the correct model before the Flash Tool will work.

adb shell on my LG-D160 phone:
in /system/build.prop:
ro.product.model=LG-D160 -> So it seems to be right.
On android GUI:
system settings -> hardware information -> model tells me: LG-D170
So iam confused.

Looking at an install guide for the cm11 rom, I see that you are supposed to have flashed another bootloader. That is probably the issue here. You would have to see if you can find a way to just flash the stock bootloader and then try the Flash Tool again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development-d802/fix-lg-flash-tool-stuck-2-t3031112 - this is for the G2, but wondering if there might be some info there that could help point you in the right direction too.

I restored my backuped stock boot and recovery partition with the adb shell / dd. The modelname in android -> settings is now correct "LG-D160". The flashtool already stops at 2 % and tell me to "retry".
fastboot devices shows also nothing in the firmware update screen ("power up" button mode) after restore of stock boot and recovery partition.
Thank you for your link.
Hi,
I have a lg G5 H850 stuck into "fastboot for bootloader unlock" mode and recovery or download mode are not working, I tried to recover it by unlocking the bootloader but the OEM unlock option is disabled so I cannot flash anything.(device locked error error message)
I saw a YouTube video yout ube.com/watch?v=ImJ1xXXzV6s with my exact issue but he is not responding to my messages.
Is there any option to unbrick this device?
Thanks a lot in advance to all!

Hi guys,
it's been more than two hours that I seek the solution to this same problem with next to me the LG G5 bootllop.
All other solutions give nothing:
- unlook via fastboot makes a mistake because the debugging option is not enabled
- the download mode does not remain more than 15 seconds
Guys, have you found a way out of this problem?

You can try getting the .kdz for your phone (e.g. off lg-firmwares.com), use the WindowsLGFirmwareExtract tool to extract the .dz out of the .kdz, then use the tool to extract the laf_6.bin out of the .dz. You can then flash this in fastboot mode using a command like
Code:
fastboot flash laf laf_6.bin
Make sure to use the same .kdz as your running firmware.
I had the same problem with Download Mode as you (restarted after 15 seconds). I extracted laf_6.bin from the H85030e KDZ firmware (whose boot stack was in use), and flashed its LAF (i.e. Download Mode) volume over the laf partition. After this Download Mode stopped restarting after 15 seconds, and I was able to use LGUP (and you would be able to use UPPERCUT) to flash the full KDZ.
(I proceeded to start the phone in bootloader/fastboot mode and flash TWRP recovery as well, with my unlocked bootloader.)

interesting. I am in Bootloop from two weeks. Tried to much time lineage 17.1 and then leave the phone so many hours in order to boot in lineage that at some point it won't enter system anymore.
So I passed to LGUP that works only with UPPERCUT and only with UPGRADE functions even if I installed all the drivers.
Maybe I need a "megalock.dll" file?
But the way one week trying to boot in system after flashing KDZ files with UPPERCUT and after many and many bootloop I finally enter the system with H85020a_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1030.kdz
But after one reboot it returns the problem.
I am desperate.
Have you got a phone name to buy that is unbrickable?
Hi,
I tried to upgrade my LG V30+ US998 to android Pie via TWRP but after the upgrade and system reboot the device got stuck in LG logo.
The download mode isn't working (device not being detected).
LGUP shows the device as "unknown" and adb is not detecting the device either.
I can't boot into TWRP anymore and flashing via LG flash tool 2014 fails (asks for server connection!).
I installed all the tools and LG mobile drivers on another computer and had no luck!
Do I have any chance of recovering my phone?

Why can't you boot to TWRP?
Use the hardware button dance, if you must.
__
Are you using the latest Dev Patched LGUP from the Pie KDZ threads? Uninstall any prior version and read the instructions carefully.
___
Your phone is not bricked. No one ever bricked their phone trying to update to Pie. Being stuck on logo is not bricked.
Tons of people get stuck on logo. So what? Then they re-flash 20h or whatever.

Reinstall LG Mobile drivers again.
Uninstall Dev Patched LGUP completely. Delete the folder from Programs/LG Electronics to make sure.
Re-install the Pie Dev Patched LGUP. Use the SetDev.bat in right click Administrator mode.
Then REBOOT the PC. You've installed two major PC components and Windows needs to process that.
Go into Download mode MANUALLY before opening LGUP. ONLY open LGUP from the desktop shortcut, not the folder icon.

I tried every possible combination of the available apps.
Phone in download mode not recognized by the computer (tried on two computers).
If I connect the phone into the computer and open the LGUP it shows as "Unknown"
For some reason TWRP got wiped out after flashing Pie rom and I cannot boot into twrp to flash the old Ore rom.
I finally managed to fix my phone.
Below are the steps:
1- boot the phone im fastboot (connect to tbe computer via USB cable and press and hold both power and volume down until phone reboots then quickly release the power button and hold the volume down until the fastboot menu appears)
2- copy the twrp image into adb folder and rename to twrp.img
3- download and copy a working rom (in zip format) and paste into micro sd card and insert into phone
4- open the command prompt as administrator and navigate to adb folder then type the following commands in sequence
Adb devices
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img
Now your phone will boot into twrp and you can install the Oreo zip rom into phone and enjoy using your LG phone again!
Thank you!
I've added this to the US998 Pie KDZ thread. That KDZ is very wonky. It's the only Pie people have problems flashing. Probably because LG has not yet released Open Market US998 and the one we are using is technically for U.S. Cellular US998.
I had no trouble flashing it myself -- on my backup V30+(former LS998) going straight from Nougat (never updated, it was my backup phone) to Pie through Dev Patched LGUP Refurbish mode. But lots of other people seem to have problems.
On my daily phone, I'm still on rooted stock Oreo with Magisk and Xposed mods.

I think part of my problem was the Pie ROM.
I have the US998 UCL version and I've read that the LG only released the Pie update for LG V30 US998 model with the Buyer suffix (1CL, UCL, UCK) and US998Z (UCL) only. But I could be wrong!

Right. LG has not yet released the Open Market USS98 KDZ yet. Theory is LG is waiting for the Sprint Pie KDZ to be accepted by Sprint. Open Market USS98 is the official North American carrier unlocked variant that needs to work with all carriers. So, Open Market US998 Pie KDZ (if ever released) will incorporate testing results from the long-delayed Sprint LS998 Pie KDZ (whenever it's finally released).

Happy for you bro . knew it wasnt toast since its us998
Hi everyone, I bought this phone working from second hand but the seller told me he tried to unlock the bootloader without success and the phone still loose the fingerprint sensor, so I decided to unlock the bootloader successfully following THIS thread and made a downgrade to Android 9 according to THIS other tutorial hopping to get it work again but I wasn't able to do it, so I decided to just use LGUP to install the same Android 12 that I had but the problem started at this point because once the KDZ was installed successfully, the deviced got a bootloop but I still was able to get into EDL, Fastboot and Download Mode, so I tried the steps from THIS other thread to unbrick it but it got even worse at this point, I flashed all the abl, xbl, etc. partitions and the "rawprograme files" via QFIL and then the phone won't even gave any life signals. I contacted someone that some months ago had the same problem and he told me that I could get into EDL by short pining the test point on the motherboard, which actually worked, so I extracted the KDZ Android 9 rom that I flashed in the first place to get the original abl, xbl, etc. partitions that I crossflashed from a v50 (Which I downloaded from the corresponding thread for unbrick), in other words I flashed the same partitions with the correct v50s files instead other model ones. So now this is where I'm right now, the phone don't turns on at all but when I connect it to the PC it gets recognized as LGE Android Platform USB Serial Port (COM11) and the buttons combinations don't work at all, so still can't get into Download mode by any method or even turn off the device, but I still can disconnect the battery and short pin the Qualcomm 9008 mode to use QFIL.
Would someone please be so kind of telling me how could I recover the Download Mode to use the COM4 and COM5 ports to flash the phone via LGUP?. According to THIS other thread, I could get the correct XML "rawprograme files" for my device (which I crossflashed with the v50) from a KDZ using some tools and Python, but I have to be honest: I DON'T KNOW HOW, even with the step by step tutorial.
At this point I think this would be the right step, to flash all the original files for my model and get the Download Mode back to be able to flash the KDZ rom via LGUP and update via OTA to Android 12 again to avoid the bootloop problem.

Thanks for replying, but I have some questions:
1. The abl file you mean is the engineering one? And...
2. Would you be so kind of telling me how to flash via QFIL? I've seen that it's possible but as far as I know, I need a specific type of rom files to do it, and I don't know how to convert a KDZ or where to download a QFIL ROM.
Thanks!

yes, engineering one mentioned here (THIS)
QFIL>Tools > Partition Manager
read abl_a and abl_b to backup then load abl engineering file to both
basically the same steps up to the following:
"Go back to Partition Manager and right click on abl_a again then select Manage Partition Data, then Select Load and choose the abl engineering file.
Do the same for abl_b."
then try download mode

Hello again, already tried flashing the engineering abl but I still can't get into download mode. The phone keeps off the whole time and by plugging in the USB cable, no matter what button combination, the PC always recognizes it as the same LGE Android Patform USB Serial Port (COM11), the only other state of the device is the Qualcomm 9008 by pinning the motherboard. This specific COM11 state never was able to flash anything by PC, I don't know what actual mode is, but when I was able to set the devide in Download Mode the PC always showed 2 devices in the Device Manager, the COM5 and the COM4, that way I knew I was able to use the LGUP to flash. I'm thinking that I'm not setting the phone on the correct state to flash by any method, but since the buttons seems not to work, I don't know how could I do it.
While on this mode "LGE Android Patform USB Serial Port (COM11)", try to hold both power and vol- for some seconds until the "LGE Android Patform USB Serial Port (COM11)" disappear from your PC device manager and immediately release both and now hold vol+ button to get into download mode.
You can do it while on the 9008 mode too though.
Maybe that can help.
I have LUNs backup for v50s but I can't upload it due to my internet plan quota limit.

Thanks, I'll try that for sure to see if I can get into the Download Mode or something. I would appreciate so much if you could share your backup, since I think I could restore the whole firmware with it, but I don't have any experience on the "LUNs" tho. I'm any case, I don't have too much time every week to give it a try, so I hope tomorrow I could test the combo you say.
