2008/12/31 11:01 (EU team) I understand that some users are having difficulties with a so called lag in the usage of Tomtom and Touch Pro. HTC does not have any upgrades in order to disable the lag of updating the position to the Tomtom application. Tomtom is indeed a third party application and I would therefore recommend you to contact them to see if they have any fixes for the so called lag issue
2009/01/21 16:11 (EU team) Dear Mr. Skaryd I just wanted to get back to you in order to see if you have gotten the GPS working better. I would also like to inform you that there will be a ROM upgrade available in the near future (1.19). Please feel free to get back to us at any time if you have any further questions or queries. Kind Regards Dave Montanya HTC Europe
2009/01/22 07:57 Alexandr Skaryd Hello, i got reply from TomTom, they claim the problem is not on their side, since they and other software producers like iGo etc are getting similar messages from users all over the world. The problem persists, it could be improved with some registry hacking aparently / as claimed on web, but i didnt try those. Anyway good to hear there is a rom update on the way.
2009/01/22 09:06 (EU team) Thank you for your reply, I have personally looked around on forums etc in order to see what the root of the issue is. Some claim that a registry change or a patch to the application (tomtom) will solve the lag issues. It doesn't seem like there is a universal solution as for now. I, myself is awaiting the new ROM as well for testing with GPS software. Feel free to get back to me if you get any further info. I'll get back to you if I find a great solution. Kind Regards Dave Montanya HTC Europe
This is my correspondation with HTC support team. Aparently there is a new ROM for HTC Pro incomming, so maybe we are getting a fix for some of the bugs, maybe even the GPS fix. So lets hope someone actually WILL try the ROM when its available and inform the custom ROM users if anything was fixed.
Let's hope that your "friend" at HTC Team isn't bluffing...
Sure it would be good to see HTC doing their work as they should!
To market a device like the TP with lots of bugs and flaws is incredible...
But that's the reason foor xda-developers existance...
they promised me from november they said end of dec 2008 there will be an rom. only bluff
But... only for Pro? Diamond has the issue as well...
don't expect too much
diamond got 2.0X and probably sooner or later TP will get the same treatment (nothing major)
I amazed at how other poeple seem to be able to get HTC Europe to talk to them; they hardly ever reply to me. What's the secret?
Thanks for trying, and thanks for the info Skaryd : )
someone knows when this official ROM will arrive?
hope there'll be a german suport as well as the engligh one
greetz
Don't worry guys. I will flex my raging pectorals and they will have no choice but to fall to their knees and develop the drivers we need, lest they incur the wrath of an epic man-chest.
Or in other words, we're boned.
this sound like back in the day when the CEO/President of HTC responded to all the critics about the lag in video performance of the Kaiser. He promised something will be done to get thing right by March 08 (?). At that time, I said, I would believe it when I see it. It's never happened. So don't get your hope too high.

does he mean ROM version 1.19?
i got my TP a week ago, it has rom version 1.90.707.4 WWE
which is much later than 1.19
but displays the gps lag.
the rom date state 8/23/08
which is prior to the date HTC said they would be releasing a new one.
i'm confused!
Here is to crossing fingers and hoping that HTC has finally realized they can't be this big and popular now and have crappy working features.
we already know about the new ROM as it has already leaked:

MY GOD, people the fact that the "Fail: <reason for continuing the argument>" line was used here makes this thread worthy of closure alone.
Dont start poluting threads with this crap, keep it relevant and check sources before coming out with stupid comments.
Back ON TOPIC and keep this civil please.
End of lecture, handouts available on the way out
My mistake on the date, which apparently in DD-MM-YYYY, if you look at the last few posts, it can easily be mistaken as MM-DD-YYYY.
thanx for sharing the info ... hopefully the new release would fix some bugs
I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I didn't see any threads regarding my specific question. I dont get on the forum chat to often anymore so I havent been following the latest news.
I dont know much about developing, infact I know just enough to have my thunderbolt rooted and flash software to it. With ICS on the Gallaxy nexus now being sold, will this open the door to developers getting the software and framework to then apply to custom ICS roms for other devices like the thunderbolt or Dinc2?
I haven't really seen any successful ICS roms out yet. Is it just a matter of time before it is put to work?
Source has been out for weeks, its already being worked on.
so, its just a matter of time then. How are the soft keys going to take affect since all other devices have them already? You think the developers will simply find a way to make that an option to apply or not?
Hi everyone,
Been lurking here now and again for a couple years but registered to seek some help with my Nexus 7 2012.
Since the Lollipop update my 1st gen N7 has become just this side of unusable. So I got it in my head to try something else, preferably Ubuntu touch since all the fixes for it in it's current state have proven ineffective and I am a long time Ubuntu/Linux user. I have searched and searched but finally decided to just ask since I cannot find an answer.
I am aware that Canonical is no longer supporting my 1st gen N7 with touch but I am hoping there is maybe an Ubuntu Touch ROM out there for my device that is still being maintained by someone else, and if so, could someone possibly point me to it please?
Or if there is some other alternative that I am not aware of that could make my device usable again, I am open to suggestions.
Thanks!
Sadly, you're right. The N7 2017 isn't among the officially supported devices anymore. And as far as I know, there's no unofficial version either.
You could, of course, start maintaining it again. I'm sure a lot of people would be very glad if you did.

I wish I had those types of skills
Sadly, I am but a mere mortal with no programming chops at all. Maybe someone will have a suggestion or know a solution. I may post this in the main forum to get a few more eyeballs on it and see if anyone has a good idea of what I can do.
Just a bump, waited until the .1 update came out to see if that would help any, it didn't. Anyone have any suggestion for what I can do? My N7 is just a useless brick at this point. Ubuntu touch would probably be my preferred option if a decent one exists.
Thanks
The Honor 7 is released in Europe (probably the states as well) now and then I'm wondering if there is higher possibilities for custom roms now? CyanogenMod for eks.
I've searched online, but couldn't find any. And I read here on xda that it was against their rules to link to them. Wondering why...?
Sad nobody could answer this yet. I think it is a bad sing. I heard is something related to the huawei kernels.
For me i would like just how to flash at least chinse rom.
Hope some expert finds a way.
Regards
Hey all, I am HELLA late to the game here. but due to some unfortunate issues I've been driven back to my Padfone X and I realized how much I love this phone still. the only issue is it is so far out of date absolutely NOTHING works right.
so having trolled through all the posts on flashing newer versions of android onto it, I have found that they all reference resources from ASUS and some other sites that are no longer available.
does anyone still have copies of the recovery flash they used and the Rom they updated with? the only things I can find are for the new Padfone1 and Padfone2 which I am 99% sure will brick the phone. (please tell me if these will work because getting to Marshmallow or newer would be awesome.
thanks in advance!
