If anyone is experiencing this problem, I hope the following steps may help.
I would like to express my appreciation to XDA members, who have commended and helped out with this. Credits go to @LordManhattan and @abuihsan . Many thanks for your help.
1/ Do a re-flash: I always thought my device was a c6802, after I flashed c6833, it helped.
2/ Do a factory reset/ Cache wipe/ Dalvik Wipe/ in recovery or in the phone settings.
3/ Install SD-Maid and clean the mess from the programs, also take a look at APPCONTROL to see which is running. You can freeze it here.
4/ Install Performance control to Underclock your CPU. Believe me, 1.7Ghz is far too enough for all the tasks you need.
5/ Use more pwerful tool, like Titanium Backup to stop all the backgound-running apps. You just need to leave the one which were in GREEN color.
6/ Use Wakelock Detector to see which apps get your phone out of deepsleep. Mostly they are Facebook and Messenger. My advice: Disable Facebook notice and if you don't use chat quite often, don't install facebook messenger.

Hi everyone,
Recently I just bought a ZU from a local vendor here. It runs 4.2.2 with no problem. However, I want to get rid of the *new system update* and I also want to use the xperia Themes, I decided to upgrade to 4.3.
My phone model is C6802, and I chose the file here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453921
The upgrade went through fast and smooth, as I had experienced in many Sony devices.
However, after getting to 4.3, I had noticed some problems as follow:
+ Heat: Device heats up very fast, even left alone. Just imagine you have the phone on 100% battery lying on your table, a moment later it heats up and the battery drops dramatically.
+ Battery drop: Just as mentioned above, the battery drops quickly. I do not expect extreme battery life on this device, but since 4.3, it is too low, I can barely make it to 6 hours without doing anything consuming battery.
+ Process: When checking the battery, I notice that most of the process that takes up battery is Android OS, which nearly 50-60%. I use the phone frequently to answer SMS and call, sometimes play games. I think that the most used applications should be the bad-ass screen?
I am running on the 14.2.A.0.290 with R4B.
Anyone had experienced this problem before, or know a solution to fix? Will clearing the Dalvik Cache help? I had re-flash several times but the problem is still there.

Sounds like somethings has gone wrong in the update process.
Have you tried backing up all your data and doing a factory reset?
I do not think clearing Dalvik will help you here, sounds like something else is acting up. You could try to install one of the apps designed to detect what is causing the wakelock.

First of all, thanks for your reply and suggestion.
I had tried to flash the roms multiple times, but the problem still exists. Furthermore, I even flash back to 4.2.2 and the problem is still there. The phone heats up slowly and battery runs out pretty fast.
I had installed the Wakelock Detector on my device and I will update the situation tomorrow, I will leave it there for a night and see the status tomorrow.
Did you wipe after updating? I had the same issue when i updated to 4.3.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as he's been downgraded to 4.2.2 again, he'd have to wipe. At least that is how it was on my Xperia Z.

this might not be related, but I've been noticing much worse battery life today than normal! i normally only drop about 50% in 24 hours, but today I've dropped 30% in just a few hours. Android OS seems to be doing it...
no real heat issue tho, maybe slightly warmer from whatever the OS is doing, but nothing too major. running stock rooted 4.3
had that on my Xperia Z on a 4.1 or 4.2 build (dunno which one). Sounds strange, but simply turning off the sync fixed the problem, give it a try :laugh:.

At first I did not choose to wipe Data in Flashtool, then I flashed again, this time I checked everything.
the problem still exists.
UPDATE:
Yesterday after working hours, I had rooted and installed BetterBatteryStats, Performance Control to monitor the system. I also had WaveLockDetector and Titanium Backup installed.
It appeared that the CPU runs all the time, in the highest state (2.15 Ghz), the phone never goes to DeepSleep and Awake all the time.
On Performance control, I had underclocked the CPU to 1.5Ghz and the temperature seems to be cooler.
I had tried to freeze a lot of applications via Titanium backup but so such luck.
Still researching.
However, many thanks to your kind replies. At least I know that I'm not alone with this problem :good:

I ever had no deep sleep problem with 4.3, even in stamina and airplane mode, and with location-off too, I checked with BBS and found the 'trigger' is a process under google now app. I use GREENIFY and get the google now hybernated. Everything fines now and I still can use google now as it only hybernated when not in use : )

hey, thanks for your reply. I did the same to you, even with Titanium backup to ensure this will never shows up again, but CPU keeps throtlling at 100%. I still can not find an answer to this 100% thing. now the phone is quite hot in my pocket, I decided to put in my bag and even turn off to keep it from heating.
I will try another rom and update.

do you use any cleaner/task killer app? before trying other rom or update, maybe you need to uninstall it, reboot recovery and wipe cache and see the result.
I don't know if this is relevance but while using greenify I also uninstall the previous cleaner app and replace with another one that I think is better.
now my c6833 has great deep sleep.

The thing is, you don't need a task killer/cleaner app. It was useful way back on Android 2.1/2.3, but you shouldn't use it at all on 4.0+. You're actually making things worse.
mine has been heating up as well. the battery isn't draining like how yours is, but any kind of use will heat the top back side of the phone. I checked and after killing all apps, my cpu load was still around 65%. is that normal? no custom flash here. locked bootloader. updated through pcc normally. I'd imagine this is why 4.3 isn't running as buttery smooth like everyone else.

No, that's not normal. Mine's around 20-30 degress celsius (depending on what i'm doing). Even streaming 1080p videos shouldn't make it hot or even mildly hot. When i had the heating problem, two cores would always be stuck at 2150 MHz. Now one core is active at 960 MHz when the screen is on. CPU load is around 20 and 60% (single core). Temperature is currently at 26 degrees. Also, stop killing apps and processes. Most of them are set to start automatically, so when you kill them over and over again, they'll start again and they'll use even more battery. Android is built to manage resources very well on its own, and it's not operating like Windows or any other computer OS. Just leave it alone unless something has gone rouge and you don't have a choice.
I'm on stock 290, rooted and extremely debloated.

- Current uptime: 3 h 30 min
- Current screentime: 1 hour (browsing etc.)

hmm... yea that sounds like the problem i am having. im noticing two cores stuck at 2150mhz with a third kicking in here and there. how were you able to fix it? just a fresh install of .290?
so as far as the apps go, i have Du Battery Saver installed and the "optimize" button is supposed to clear up some of the background junk. are you saying that i should leave the optimize button alone and just let android figure itself out?

What i'm saying is that you should uninstall that crappy app. Task killers were useful three years ago when Android devices had slow processors and low amount of RAM. What you're doing now is killing everything everytime you tap that button. WHY do you want to do that? What's the point of having 2GB of RAM when you don't want to use it? Are you always killing processes on your computer too? Would you do it if your computer had 32GB of RAM with 30GB available? Unused RAM is wasted RAM. Android is a modern OS that can handle this on its own. If you only have 300MB RAM left and you want to play Asphalt 8 which requires (i'm guessing) 500MB RAM, Android will find the oldest and less frequently used process and kill it. It's that easy.

ok. so I haven't done anything at all to remedy the situation. I figured I'd ask about it before messing it up myself. I upgraded to .290 via pcc. it updated fine with no errors. once it was done updating, it was hot and battery was diminished. I had seen on another thread that most people had that happened so I didn't see it as an issue, just a side effect of the update process.
I have been checking back to see if anyone was having heating issues with 4.3 after the update and didn't hear about it until I had seen this thread. the OP stated he flashed .290 on his 6802 and is rooted. I am not, so I wasn't sure if the steps he was taking were the same given my 6833 being completely stock.

My s6 Edge does not go to sleep. It drains huge amount of battery while idle.
I need urgent help. I have disabled all AT&T bloatware. But it still does not work.
I have also tried hard resetting it, it does not work. Battery continues to drain.

5.0.2 seems to be notorious for battery drains...check if your device has the 5.1.1 update which seems to be better in terms of RAM management. Also, are you data or wifi...if on data, then LP is again notorious for a world famous "mobile radio active" bug...it's all over the web...So, the best solution would be to either put the phone in deep freezer until Google fixes the huge bugs in LP or sell your phone...just kidding...
After updating your device (if there's any), do a factory reset...it should solve your problems...hopefully
Does not go to sleep? Check your settings about screen timeout..The battery drain can be fixes through system update..if samsung has any update ready

I hard reseted my phone, disable all bloatwares, haven't installed any apps, haven't signed in to anything (even google, only signed into samsung account). charged to 100%. Left the phone for 4-5 hrs, battery drained to 81%.

It sounds like theres something you have running draining your battery though. Keep in mind however that the galaxy s6 edge when charged to 100 percent can hold a charge for quite awhile, but if your only charging it too around 40 or 50 percent it will die rather quickly.

What does it tell you in the battery stats? That's the first place to look. Is Screen at the top or something else like Google Services or a fitness tracking app? Send a screenshot of that as a starter for 10.

Your best bet is to install TWRP, root, and flash "No deep sleep fix", thats if you dont care about tripping knox of course.
Seems like an aggressive suggestion since we don't know the root cause yet. It might not be a wake lock issue; it could be location tracking or updates getting stuck. I'd rather see the battery stats first.
Screen is not even on the list, i haven't used my device for more than 15-20 mins (used chrome & inbox for 15-20 mins in the morning)

Google Services like I thought. There's a number of things that can cause this as it's quite a fundamental service. The most simple fixes are:
- Make sure there's no pending updates in the Play store. These can work havoc with the battery when waiting for manual approval
- If this doesn't work, remove your google account, reboot and re-add it. For some reason this can fix the sync issues that cause drain
- Still no dice? The next one is to backup, factory format then restore your backup. It's a bit extreme but sometimes when you update your software it causes a glitch that only goes away with a factory format
Each time you try a fix, let the battery fully charge then check the stats a couple of hours later.

You're welcome. If it's any conciliation I had exactly the same issue and fixed it this morning with those steps.
Google services is one of the biggest battery user but it still doesn't explain his erratic battery loss. I never turn off any features and get decent life.

Tried the third step many times before, didn't work.
So, yesterday I tried the 1st & 2nd step, worked like a charm, I was happy but today, the same results (battery was draning like i was playing games). So I completely removed my google account and left my phone for a few hours. Here is the result (see attached). As you can see no Stupid Google Play Services in the list but what is eating my battery ????

Again, LP has a world famous bug called the "Mobile Radio Active" bug. What this means that if an app uses the data services for some odd reason LP keeps the mobile radio open even if the app does not need it any more...So, for all you know ur issue is Android related and not your device specific. Oh btw, the upcoming M also has this confounded bug...so I believe we will be plagued by this bug for the foreseeable future...And I dumped my iPhone for this buggy Android...Dang!
How is your reception, If most of the time your phone struggle to get reception, it may be part of the problem, just my 2 cents, not an expert, but myself trying to get rid of the google service battery bug...
Better battery stats would give detailed information as to the cause, yet it requires root on all lollipop devices. Helped me find the exact cause of my phone never sleeping

Hope this is the right place for this question.
I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 and it is all up to date with updates etc. Android 5.1.1
I have seen this asked a lot on the web...why is my phone so hot and why is the battery draining so quickly?
I have tried Clean Master and the Battery hibernator (same as Greenify?)
I have tried Doze
I have tried Netguard...never gave it a good chance
I have tried an app called Cooldown or something like that.
I have tried clean up
I installed a GSAM battery monitor and it said that google play services was the culprit. I ran a program called Gservice fix that seemed to help temporarily.
I have deleted all of those apps and same issue persists.
It seems to be worse when I am not on wifi. using the LTE network , so I am wondering if that may be a clue.
I took it to the Sprint store and of course the guy said to do a factory reboot. I know that that is the last option, but I was wondering if there is anything in 2016 that may help me get my phone back to a state where I don't have to have it worry about my battery draining.
Leaving town Tuesday so I would love to see if I can improve this issue!

Yes go into settings, go to battery, battery usage (something like that) and take a screenshot of the main battery users. I suggest you turn off sync when you are not using it. That uses a lot of background usage to sync everything. Also, keep the screen brightness down. Screen usage is the number 1 culprit for (normal) android users. Just get back to us with the info.
My battery seem to do a little bit better, not great but a little bit better. But I think it may be because I'm on Wi-Fi. Not sure what I did differently
The issue seems to occur when I am on LTE, not Wi-Fi. How can I uninstall Google Play services updates when its great out? I've read several places that it's helped other people
Hello guys. I bought this phone a few weeks ago and from the first day, I have been facing this problem. I have deleted all bloatware and tried everything on the internet. The battery usage stats show that no specific app is causing this. Just today, I went to sleep at around 8am with 45% battery and wifi off, and woke up at 5pm with 35% battery. Please help guys.

I believe Miui 11 drains battery. I got better results after debloating. Try scheduling battery saver.

After disabled Screen Animations my Mi Note 10 works all day with 50% of battery. I think MIUI 11.0.8 is terrible.

no, since MIUI 11.0.8 works without problems here.
May be too much sync? See if Greenify app or Superfreezz makes a difference.
I have 150+ apps, wifi on and when I checked two days ago I went from 100% => 99% in 7h 45 min during the night.
I have done nothing to improve battery life.
Maybe resetting the phone and start over?

Cmon, that's not possible.
I have just a few App, everything is optimised and still I get a huge drain from Google Play Services.

This is Google play services for me after 12 h use. It is number 8 of battery consumption.

Yeah, always wifi. Have not checked drain with data only. If I remember I will turn off wifi tonight and check.

Tried with only data and lost 3% in 7 h. Most of it was at 3 AM when WhatsApp wanted to backup but I have it on only wifi.

I have done all the optimisation, enabled aggressive doze, remove auto-sync, notifications, backup, everything related to position/history/scan, blocked ads with nextdns, unistalled Google plays services updates, disabled change system setting, unistalled every possible 3rd part app that could use it (a few since it's brand new) and I am basically using it for WhatsApp.
Results: Google plays services always at the top, no matter what. It was higher, now it's stable around 10/20%. Unbelievable I hate this phone.

Maybe you did too much lol. I dont know, every review i watched, every endurance test on youtube, this device destroys others in battery test. I also have excellent endurance, charge once every 2 days, and i get around 6hours of sot. Completely stock, no hacks, mods, debloats or anything. 24/7 sync with my galaxy watch, 2 gmail accounts, facebook, instagram etc. You either have horrible reception, and while trying to find mobile towers phone wastes a lot of energy, or you have always on display setup for 24/7, or by removing stuff, you created some software bugs. Cant think of other explanation.

It is possible that a bad signal is the culprit here, I am currently living in the countryside and the signal is not the best (I can see in the stats too). Still I don't know what it should have to do with Google Play Services!
Luckily I am moving back to the city next week, so I will keep an eye on that.
Try one night in airplane mode on. If it's the signal, it would be a big difference in battery.

Do you know how to fix them?
Did a fresh install on my X1m3 and was quite surprised to find I could watch the battery life trickle down before my eyes despite a 4500 mAh battery. AccuBattery reports 96% estimated health, estimated capacity 4327 mAh, which is within acceptable tolerances, and I've just done a 0% to 100% charge to train the charge algorithm.
Even with 60 Hz mode on the screen and brightness between 40% and 50%, I still think battery drain is higher than it should be on the shipped Android 11 update. I have about 100 apps total, most of which are passive / load-then-close things (small utilities etc). Minimal social media apps, the usual IM apps. Nothing extravagant. SOT seems to literally bleed battery life and I've already had a few device overheat / service stop thermal protection / camera app shutdown warnings in just two days of use.
Is the Snapdragon 888 really that bad? Reviews I read prior indicated that while not stellar, the SOT and battery life in standard suites of usage tests showed that the device seemed broadly on par with most current gen handsets, give or take an hour or two.
Battery life at the moment only seems marginally better than my three year old S9 with about 80% battery health and severe screen-on drain (per AccuBattery and a separate Samsung diagnosis); that is to say, slightly disappointing. Does anyone else's experiences reflect this? Anything you did with a boxfresh device that improves its battery life from what I've experienced, or is this partly the woes of early Android 11 adoption?

With internet/phone connected the drain should less than 1%@hr when not in use.
My 10+ with less efficient ram gets that with AOD on, but it was a battery guzzling hog before it was optimized.

Indeed, that's what I was expecting. I'm close to 1.7%/hr with screen off. When the screen's on, I can quite quickly decrement the battery just with it sat idling or with an empty Chrome window open.
I read elsewhere on xda that some Samsung users who upgraded to Android 11 were suffering from excessive drain in Chrome until they forcibly suspended it, is that a bug which was subsequently fixed or is there another reason behind that behaviour? Weird background sync issues?
I've gone through again tonight, disabling and force muting notifications from any apps I suspect to be hogs, and I've permission granted BBS through ADB to see if I can nail any more details. Unfortunately looks like BBS needs some work to be more compatible with Android 11 or the Xperia OS build.

Be careful with the edits... dependencies.
Names can be deceiving. Make your own list and know exactly what you're disabling.
I prefer to use a Package Disabler as it gives you on the fly control. PM if you want a link for that (some knucklehead FM here thought I was a salesperson for posting the link).
Likely suspects; any cloud apk, Google play Services, Google backup Transport, Framework and Google Firebase. Playstore is another one that constantly pecks away at the battery.
Clear system cache, Google play Services, Transport and Framework data.
Try disabling Google play Services at night see what that does. It kills a lot of birds with one stone. Normally unless I need to use one of it's dependencies, I leave it disabled.
Go through -all- the Google settings. Disable Google, carrier, app and Sony feedback. Use Karma Firewall to lock down apps that don't need internet access. Set Gmail to manual sync.
Use the setting below to kill ads globally.
Sheesh, if I have to stop/delete/uninstall/disable all this stuff I might as well go back to a land line with an answering machine. I mean didn't he say he has 100 apps? What in the world are 100 apps used for? How long has he actually had the phone in his possession? Maybe a few days are needed to let the battery settle down? Instead of stopping all the so-called necessary Google stuff, why not stop/uninstall about 90 apps and see how it goes?
That is not normal. Battery life is solid for me and have minimal drain. Try resetting and see if phone is like that with no apps installed for a day

So is its optimization.
This is no plain Jane iPhone.
You get what you put into Android.
That's why kids do so well with them... they play with it.

Unless you have uninstallable malware or did a major firmware update a factory reset doesn't find the root cause. Meaning it's likely to reoccur.
It's preferable to find and correct the cause... and you learn this way.
Running in Safe mode will give a good idea if it's a 3rd party app causing the issue.
Occasionally poorly written apps will change hidden settings not normally accessible to the user. These will remain even if you uninstall it.
If you can't find (sometimes reloading the app and changing the setting there, then uninstalling it works) and correct, factory reset.
Meh, never load a bunch of unknown apps at once. Load, observe, then decide if it's doing what you want.
Make installable copies of all your trusted apps for future use and archive them. Sooner or latter you will need those...

Well, I understand that...this is not my first cell phone, and I usually do NOT have all the issues so many others have. And when I ask myself WHY??? I can only conclude that my 25 years as a Systems Engineer certainly helps, as well as the fact that I use my cell phone primarily as a communications device...you know as they were originally intended. But I also do a number of other things such as banking, internet access, mapping, etc., etc. However, I highly doubt that the problem with overheating, or rapid battery drain is attributable to Google's services (though once in awhile a rogue update can cause problems) but rather the problem inevitably lies with all the 3rd party apps that many load up on their phones. Another leading contributor is not setting the phone up properly out of the box. A recommendation that I always offer when setting up a new phone is this: NEVER allow Google to reinstall all your apps from a backup! NEVER!!!
Just bite the bullet and install them from scratch yourself! This way you are getting a CLEAN/Pristine start! Windows has allowed "upgrades" from one OS to another for years, and while you may have no real problems on your home PC, doing an upgrade on a server will get you fired! That is a MAJOR no-no. Why not, when it would save so much time and effort? Because you are dragging all the detritus left over form the previous version into a new build. Then, if and when problems arise, and they certainly will, you may NEVER be able to determine the cause! Now if this happens on your phone the worst thing is to do a factory reset - YUK - but it's not the end of the companies business, or your livelihood! Try to do this on a server that has already been deployed and I would rather get a root canal without Novocain while actively charged electrodes were anchored to my feet!
So then, NEVER allow Google to reinstall your apps from a backup. Start clean, learn what to turn off/adjust in settings, and load your apps one at a time. Give your battery a few days to settle in, that is to learn your habits of use and you should be OK. YMMV

My issues and solutions may not apply to you.
No free rides; you get what you put into it.

Enabling power management of any kind isn't needed, will likely cause erratic behavior degrade the speed and stability in extreme cases even cause boot loops. On my device global power management uses more battery even after a week or more... it does not adapt. It ain't Borg.
Can you really expect a random collection of apks, services and versions to be compatible out of the box? Absolutely not. The shotgun approach will not work well here. Sweat is always the price of freedom...
Developer options>standby apps
All buckets should show as active and their status unchangable, otherwise power management is active.
*factory resets should be only after major firmware updates, malware you can't eliminate, system damage by a app and boot loops *giggle*.
Otherwise track down the root cause and correct otherwise it will likely reoccur... then you'll be right back were you started. The equivalent of rinsing with the wash water.
