Sony firmware & LOS - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

I asked this question in the LOS 17.1 thread, but havent had a reply for weeks, giving a try here if ok.
When I installed unofficial LOS 17.1 by derf elot, I had missed the part about having the requird Sony firmeware installed.
Though the phone mostly works ok (about 6 months), there are modem and network switching toasts that pop up and very occasionaly lose coverage.
As the phone if fully setup, customsed and running, is it possible to update firmware ontop of LOS using the xperifirm tool, without losing anything?
Thanks

[Q] modem not working in CM 12.1 nightly

good day to all,
I've got sony xperia z3 tablet compact; LTE version, SGP621 (scorpion). I've managed to unlock bootloader, install twrp, install cm-12.1-20150704-NIGHTLY-scorpion.zip, with gapps and superSU root.
What I realized after some time - when I was out of reach of my wifi - that cellular network (broadband) is not working. More specifically, there are no entries in main settings menu for "mobile network" and also in "about" section, there is nothing about network or broadband. Could you advise me how to get it working?
I thought I mistook my device for "scorpion_windy" one, and installed cm same version for scorpion windy, but with no luck obviously,
SGP621 should be indeed pure "scorpion"
cyanogenmod's support for this device is for me a little bit misty, I'm not sure if it is official or unofficial, what is supported and what not. Most importantly, how can I get the modem working with it.
Beside missing modem, I see no issues with CM 12.1 nightly on this device so far.

modem is working in android 5.1 aosp from free xperia project,
I'm gonna try another build of cyanogenmod
btw, I also tried android M preview on this device, however I can't get it out of safe mode. Anyhow, I don't want to run "preview" on my daily device, just wanted to have a look.
Could you post an exact guide how you did this? I am looking for tutorials for weeks now and nothing specific there. A step by step guide would be great...

Two Months Breaks

Hello Friends,
I had Redmi Note 3 but due to some circumstances it got damaged and had to sent it to service centre, I gave my fone on 1st September to Service centre and i will be getting my handset tmmrw i.e 12th Nov. so its been almost two months that i was without my handset, nd due to same i have lost trackings on rom developments.
Meanwhile cm14 got relased and then 14.1, i see many threads on rom based on 14.1, hence can someone suggest me the rom which has the least bug for now and its frequently updated ??
You can try latest build of Santhosh M's 14.1 ..
build is very fluid and smooth. Can be used as daily driver. Very few bugs like VoLTE (second Sim losts signal sometimes but can be fixed by flashing firmwares and modified radio zips). Camera needs improvements, Battery Style cant be changed.
Enjoy Nougat

[ROM][SPH-L520][Unofficial][LineageOs 14.1]

Please note this ROM is only for the SPH-L520 (Sprint) only!!! Do not try flashing this on any other variant. Search XDA for your device, as there are loads of other ROMS for your INTL version
What works?
Everything (was that too simple?)
ROM and RECOVERY created by: arco68 :highfive:
How to install RECOVERY?

BY DEFAULT ROM DOES NOT COME WITH GAPPS, flash them yourself if you want them.
ROM: Removed. See post #4 for the updated version.

GAPPS: http://opengapps.org/ (remember it's the 7.1.2)
Great to see a new builder, good job!
Thanks
Many thanks for this ROM. It installed without the slightest hicckup and is working fine. Been looking and trying to replace the OEM software for quite some time now with no success. This was a breath of fresh air. Great coding. Keep up the fine work. Best Regards. Yachtsman
I got it working figured out there's a tool to do it, ty awesome work btw.
Heres's an updated version of Lineage 14.1 which includes November's Security Patch and an updated CDMA(I hope I spelled that correctly)
Updated by: @arco68 (thank him for keeping the s4 mini sprint variant alive)

Thanks for posting! Got it working on my Sprint S4 mini.
Thanks for posting! Got it working on my Sprint S4 mini, too.
I use the S4 Mini's as media players. Lineage 14.1 has better media options than the original OS. Great player for $30 or even $50. My Rockboxed Sansa Clip is wearing out. Smart Audiobook Player is great for audio books. The really great part of using the S4 Mini is the ability to load new content from my personal cloud.
Thanks for the awesome work Michael! any idea which one of your nougat roms are funtioning the best; this one, aokp, or RR? thanks
Also any plans around here to experiment here with oreo or p? I know as it is, that getting nougat is great for such an old device, but its the last true mini sprint phone out there...
Awesome job Michael!!! I really like the size of this phone, and I am hoping that this ROM keeps my phone running for a while.
However, I found a problem when I flashed the phone: I cannot put an account to the phone. In other words, when I go to settings > accounts> + add account, my choices are Exchange, Personal (Imap) and Personal (Pop3). The choice for adding a google account for the phone to sybchronize itself with the google services: play store, App Data, Docs, Drive, etc is not there. Did I miss a step in the flashing?
I sideloaded google play, but it fails because there isn't an account on the phone. Again, Did I miss a step?
Thank you for your time and shared expertise.

I cycled thru the imaging, flashing, gapps thing, and now the phone has connectivity to the app store.
-- Ill create a new post about this, but when I tried to activate the phone, I needed to update the PRL (Sprint) does anyone know how to do this?
Thx
Flashed the original software into the phone, did all the updates and reflashed lineage, so far so good: Everything works as the OP promised. Great Work!!!

I installed the original sprint software, updated everything on the phone. Then rooted, flashed and installed Lineage. It has worked about 95%. The WI-FI connectivity has a problem.
- Sometimes it does not let go of the wifi connection when I leave my house & it drains the battery very fast, shut off WI-FI & the problem is fixed.
- Sometimes it does not connect to the wifi, and cannot find a signal (multiple & strong signals available), reboot device & it connects
Does any one have any idea how to solve the issues with WI-FI?

Halp?
Spamming this question here in case anyone else had a similar experience:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/help/sph-l520-ting-4g-lte-t3817775
(TL;DR - can't get 4G/LTE on Ting even though everything else works perfectly?)
Curiously, I installed this rom on two sph-l520s successfully. After a month, I put back on one phone the Samsung 4.4.2 os. I did a twrp backup.
Several months later, I tried to restore the lineage backup. On reboot, this phone gets stuck with google framework stopped as well as other similar errors. I tried doing a new install after a wipe and it hangs at the lineage logo forever.
After many attempts and restores did not work, I installed the resurrection rom successfully.
Downloaded over and over and so on.
Now I have lineage 14.1 on one phone and resurrection on the other.
Anyone have a clue why this rom will not work on one sph-l520?
I made a TWRP build for the Sprint variant, and also builds of Lineage 15.1 and 16.0 if that's of interest.

It's an issue with Sprint devices to get data working on Roms past Nougat.
Am itching myself to resurrect my S4Mini Sprint...

Strange WIFI problem (new oreo blobs problem?)

Hi!
After I updated my phone to the latest firmware and updated my phone to the latest Omni (which uses the new Mi A1 blobs) I started having this wierd issue:
After sometime, randomly, my phone disconnects and reconnects to my wifi.
Is it my phone, the new firmware ( I already downgraded to the lates stable one) or the new oreo blobs? (had the same issue with other oreo rom which has the new blobs)

Question Poco M4 Pro won't update

Got a Poco M4 Pro 4G about a week ago, after initial set up stock rom updated to 13.0.1 (SKEEUXM). I see there are newer versions but several days later no update is available?
I am desperately looking to update or even downgrade due to a poor light sensor performance - in low ambient light and with auto brightness enabled the screen gets way too dark (sensor goes to 0 lux, when in reality it is not that dark). In a well lit environment it works adequately. Someone mentioned in another forum that after updating, they got rid of the issue.
That (V13.0.1.0.SKEEUXM) is currently the most up-to-date Android 12 firmware for the EEA. I think you could switch back to Android 11 (and a more recent firmware update) manually by unlocking the bootloader and flashing a fastboot package, but it's pretty hands on. Otherwise all you can do is wait for Xiaomi to update their A12 firmware.
Thanks mate, that means my updater is working fine then. I am tempted to go down to android 11 and a more recent firmware really, the sensor is acting terribly on the current one but it's still blind hope that would resolve it.
