It doesn't seem to give me that option when entering the bootloader/recovery.
not unless you unlock your bootloader, and install a custom recovery like OrangeFox Recovery

After installing I've been stuck at the MIUI_US united World wide splash screen for the past 20minutes.
Sounds like a bootloop. Did you wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, fix permissions and (if you flashed another kernel) flash the kernel cleaning script first?
If not, do all that stuff. I flashed MIUI yesterday without issues.
if you can load into CWR goto Mounts Menu Format Data, Datadata, System, Cache, the goto advanced Wipe Dalvik. Now install Miui. and Fix permissions then reboot.
if not revert to stock via odin/heim and follow the steps above after flashing CWR.

Before flashing a new rom, or after flashing how do I wipe cache and/or data? I have a locked bootloader and no custom recovery.
With locked bootloader u can only use miflash. Use the "flash all" option for a full wipe.
Hello, i want to decrypt my phone and need a bit of help. i saw that i need to wipe and format daata to decrypt my phone. what i am not sure about is if i wipe everything in the recovery is the rom i used before still on the phone or do i have to reflash it?
You are most likely using TWRP recovery. To decrypt your phone, boot into recovery, then press wipe. Select "Format data". Type "yes", as instructed to do so. At this point, your internal storage will be wiped, so make a backup! This will NOT wipe your ROM (you delete it, if you wipe your system partition). Instead, it will wipe your data - just like a factory reset.
After this, I do recommend you flash DFE (if you are planning to root your phone, first install Magisk, then DFE). It's been deprecated some time ago, however it was necessary for my device; for the recovery to work properly.
