Samsung Camera App crashing - Samsung Galaxy S21 Questions

I just noticed today that the Samsung Camera app crashes when I select the "More" to access Pro, Slo-Mo, etc when I am in landscape mode. If I am in Portrait mode it works just fine. If I have More options open and rotate to landscape, the app will crash as well. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Try clearing system cache.
Clear cam app data.
Maybe a firmware glitch waiting for an update.
-or-
If the cam app has been updated try uninstalling the update.
Try in safe mode to see if a 3rd party app is causing it.
Try a hard reboot (simulates pulling the battery) not a factory reset!
Be glad you don't have spen glitches

Everything has been tried except Safe Mode (and of course glitch update) and of course a factory reset. No biggee. Once I select one of the options under "More" I can rotate into landscape with no issues. It is only when I go into the menu to make a selection that I experience the issue. Once the phone gets updated to Android 12 I was planning on doing a factory reset anyway so I will see how that goes. Thank you for the input.

[Q] TwLauncher - Built-in Launcher

I found an important bug of this TwLauncher. After I updated some apps, all my app icons are re-arranged randomly. It is very annoying to re-arrange all apps once I update an app. Is there any way to fix it or report to Google for the fix in next update? My next update may be ICS 4.0.x. Does ICS 4.0.3 has the same issue??
There's an app for that. On market - appzorter

Thanks for your advice. I know a couple of Launcher on the market but this one is on ROM that I cannot remove it and is not bad apart from this bug that I discover it. I further discover that if I turn the unit off and turn it on back, all my setting of app icons on the bottom row returns to original one. It should not happen but it does. Is there any channel to officially inform Samsung to fix it as they now update the firmware much frequent than before.
Try the following solution:

I think it's the same problem.
Thanks for your advice. How to clear the data under All tab? There are not only the downloaded apps but also built-in apps. What is different from soft reset or hard reset?
Under the All tab, find TwLauncher and click on it. You should now see a button called "Clear data" - click on that to clear the data.
Not sure why you need to know about soft reset and hard reset.... but normally soft reset is software reset (like reboot/restart) and hard reset is hardware reset (like hitting the power button on/off or pulling out battery).
Tarobun,
Thanks for your further advice which is working for me. Fantastic!!

[Q] [HELP] Touchwiz crashes when deleting a homescreen SGS3 JB4.1.1 sept 9, 2012

Hi Everyone,
I have searched the forum for possible solution to my issue, but I am not able to find anything that is relevant or something that I am willing to do.
What I am trying to do is to delete a blank homescreen on TouchWiz.
My set up is:
1. Samsung Galaxy S3 - International (Philippines)
2. I installed the Sept 9, 2012 leak via Odin without clearing my phone. I just have it installed as instructed.
3. It was working fine, until I mindlessly went to recovery mode and wiped my phone data - reset.
4. I have to reinstall all apps.
5. When I was happy with my four homescreen setup, I was trying to delete the extra home screen that I dont need or want.
6. Drag the empty homescreen to trash, and boom. It crashes.
I have done the following:
1. I have cleared the cache of touchwiz, and I did my home screens again. Still not able to delete the extra home screens.
2. I have wiped my phone for the second time, this time settings > back up and reset > factory data reset
3. Reinstalled all my apps again
4. Did my homescreen thing, and was able to delete the extra home screen. Yay!
5. I was trying to call, but instead of pressing the call button from the bottom row, it moved it to NEW homescreen. I moved it back to where it was, and now I'm stuck again with a fifth unnecessary homescreen.
6. When I try to delete the extra homescreen, the trash will not turn red, and will just crash.
I don't want to reset my phone again. I have cleared the cache of the homescreen several times (settings > application manager > all > TouchWiz home > Clear data).
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, or was already addressed, but I am unable to find the solution as to how I can delete the extra home screen without resetting my phone for the nth time.
Thank you in advanced,
Regards,
~mark
TouchWiz crash JB XXDLI8
same problem here with an austrian SIII.
updated from DLI6 by 1st flashing Easy_Jelly_Base.XXBLG8-XXLH1_Odin.tar as a base
and then updating the I9300XXDLI8-OTA-I9300XXBLG8_BTU_297718496.zip via recovery. (w/o wipe!)
everything works pretty well and speedy except removing empty homescreens results in a crash of the touchwiz.
so i guess it´s "just" a bug and we´ve to wait for DLI9.

George

Not 100% sure on a solution to this, but you could try fixing permissions, as well as wiping your delvic cache and cache in recovery.
Alternatively you could also use APEX or NOVA Launcher as a substitute to Touchwiz...
Try flashing modded touchwiz launcher from themes and app section. It works flawlessly

Just to add to this, I've got the 'out of box' jb on my Vodafone UK Samsung galaxy s3.
It's not been rooted, just has the stock touchwiz. Same thing happens for me since the jb update.
Looks like it's possibly a touchwiz bug.

Solution to this has been found, in developer settings you have to enable the animation scale. Even setting it to 0,5 speed is OK.
Technically it's not a solution since it will happen if animations are turned off, but it's an easy and good workaround.
It worked for me
Thanks, it worked for me.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Works! Another note: Just enable the animator duration scale to 0.5 and it works! you can set the others to off.

Man, this is the only option that worked for me. Tried other websites suggestion such as clear touchwiz cache (which is a bit of a bugger because it will erase all of your settings) remove battery, animation to 10, and developer options off. The only option that worked for me is animation setting to .5x.
Thanks everyone.:good:

CM11 Problems

I've just this minute flashed the latest CM11 zip file on my SIII through the CM update in the settings and I was surprised to see that it was relatively slower than other updates and there was also a lot of screen tearing and juttering when going from app to app and scrolling down the screen.
Anyway, the problem occurred when I tried going to back to an older version, it successfully installed the older version without a hitch but the problem is that the home screen UI crashes every time I press the home button. I can do everything else on my phone, I can pull down the notification pane and gain access to all the tiles there and if I get a facebook notification for example, I can load up facebook but as soon as I press the home button I get a message saying 'Unfortunately, Trebuchet has stopped.'
I know there are always problems when reverting back to a previous version but I was wondering if there would be an easy way to fix this without having to factory reset my phone.
EDIT - I just updated back to the latest version and the home screen UI is back but I don't really want to be on this version as it is laggy so if there's a way to use an older version without the home screen error then I'm all ears.
As you can see with the screenshot, I have the settings open which I opened through the tiles pane but trying to press the home button will result in that message popping up every time.

Just go back to a nightly where it didnt crash and you have a smooth UI. There is no problem with that. Dirty flashing works in both directions

That what I did do. I was using cm-11-20140131 then I updated to cm-11-20140202 which was laggy so I reverted back to cm-11-20140131 which was working before the update and this is where I encountered the home screen UI crash

Try another nightly. If you can open the settings, go to apps and look for the launcher. Clear its data and cache then

Same, with my GS4. Tried going back a few nightlies and back to the M release, but Trebuchet (or Launcher3) keep crashing even after wiping caches. I'm actually looking under Settings > Apps > All and don't see Launcher/Trebuchet anywhere...

This worked for me: Clearing data and cache
Pull down power menu and select settings
Method 1: Clearing data and cache
Go to system settings >> Apps>>Open “All” tab>>Select Trebuchet
Click Force Close>>Clear data and Clear cache of Trebuchet
Restart the phone

Almost all apps (including launcher) crash

Hey all,
Just got my new OnePlusX and the first time I turned it on it prompted all the set up screens. I had to skip through them all because the keyboard would not stay open. It would open and then immediately minimize. Not a great start but no problem, I'll add my accounts and connect to wifi later.
Once I get into the 'home screen' I could see my status bar at the top but no icons and no way to access the app draw. I pressed the capacitive buttons and opened the notification slider which both worked and eventually got into the play store. From here I installed an app or two and got prompted to do a system update, which I did.
After the update I was hoping my launcher would work.. it didn't. The home screen is a black screen with the status bar at the top and no icons - the home button seems to do nothing when I'm in an app and press it.
I installed a third party launcher which worked - I now have a home screen and app draw. However, after opening an app, it crashes after a second or two (chompSMS does this as well as messenger, phone and contacts which are stock apps).
Does anyone have any information about this, what can I do here?
I know one option might be flashing a custom rom but being a brand new phone that should most definitely not be something I have to do to be able to call and message people..
Update: I ran a factory reset and all problems seemed to be resolved now. Not sure what was going on but I guess something happened that a reboot couldn't fix. I'll leave this post in case it helps others.
Have you done a factory reset after the system update??

Frequent going to lock screen

My Mi10 5G Indian version phone is now with MIUI 12.2.6.0,The updation was done about 1 week before. Now the phone is experiencing a problem since 3 days.Whenever the phone is using it abruptly goes to the lock screen.I have to open it with finger to get the page I was using. This issue occurs frequently. What is the reason for this and how can it be eliminated?
Disable second space, disable smart cover or delete cache and reboot. (only cache!)

Thanks shivadow. But I have not enabled second space or sp inmart cover.Cache of which app is to be deleted?
All cache of everything. If you go into the security app and select the cleanup option (NOT the deep clean!) DESELECT everything except cache and clean up, then power off and power on.
If that doesn't solve it then you most likely have a rogue app playing shenanigans..

Dear shivadow,
As per your instructions,I opened Security app. Then a page showing Caches, Obsolete apps and other 2 items with ticked boxes appeared. When I tried to untick the boc of Caches ,the item Caches disappeared. However I cleaned the rest of the items and rebooted the phone.Yet the problem of going to Lock Screen still exists.Within per6of one half hours after Reboot, the phone went to Lock screen 2 times. Now another option exists ,ie,Rogue App.How can I find out which is the Rogue App?So please advise whether my cleaning process was correct and if it was not,how can do it correctly. Also what is the process to find out the Rogue App.
Waiting with Thanks for your Advice...
Remove any apps you've installed leaving just the stock ones. I advise making a backup of your data first because apps can remove anything they've created.
You.are sure that you have all lockscreen functions disabled?
