Hi, I have just bought a samsung A52S from amazon, to use in the UK. It seemed to work fine, except for WiFi calling. After speaking to my carrier, they asked if it was a grey import - although I didn't realise it would be, it had a foreign plug on the charger, so it probably is. The carrier has suggested the fact that it has the wrong country firmware could be causing the problems. After a google on here, I can see that I have the generic german CSC (DBT), instead of the generic UK (BTU). I used ODIN to flash the BTU firmware, but the CSC still shows as DBT. Just so I know where to focus my efforts, does anyone know whether having the wrong CSC might prevent WiFi calling?
Thanks!
*edit* my questions have moved on, so I've posted a more accurate thread here, please delete this one:
Help changing CSC code - flashing BTU keeps DBT CSC?

Hey guys
Im new to the galaxy s3 and samsung, I recently got my GS3 from newegg, unlocked international version.... I was wondering how to know which region the phone was from? I tried googling but i cant seem to find the answer. I came from an SE Arc S, SE had SI numbers so I could tell, but what does samsung use?
Also, there is no update for the latest LFB firmware yet... Does Samsung rollout firmwares for different regions in stages like SE? I'd like to keep everything stock..
When I press *#1234#, I get the following:
ap: i9300ubalf3
cp: i9300ublf2
csc: i9300uubalf3
Thanks
My understanding is that yours is Trinidad and Tobago.
Search for i9300uubalf3 on google and hit the sammobile result.
I think you can follow @SGS3Update on twitter to see if yours got the update, though I'm not sure how reliable this it. Technically, Kies should offer the update as soon as Samsung makes it avail.
What I still don't quite get is the role of CSC. More importantly, can we flash it independently of the firmware? And if so, which CSC canadian and US users should be flashing?

CSC can be flashed as a separate item .

Says
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.
CSC not required for phone to work .

Thanks,
Since there is no CSC for Canada or USA, I take it that there is no point in changing it (except for maybe getting faster official updates?)
As far as MMS and Data, in Canada and USA, we'll need modify APN separately since there is no CSC?

Hi, I also have the same CSC as the original poster, Located in Trinidad. Do you know which csc receives the updates as they are released? I want to flash mine to whatever it is.
I had the same *#1234# as OP. I flashed every modem found on the thread here and signal quality results weren't any better. Checked for updates and got nothing. I noticed that most talk about XXBLFB (UTB) UK, so I chose to flash that firmware. Just to be in the same playing field. I am using my phone in the Miami, FL USA area.

Flashed the UK latest firmware, UK CSC and it works fine with Rogers here. The rogers APNs are automatically in the APN list, I guess they get that from the sim?
There was some confusion over what a CSC Code is and what happens to it when you flash a ROM.
CSC is the Consumer Software Customization and is specific to geographical region and carriers.
It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support.
CSC does not affect what firmware you can flash and is frankly irrelevant half the time.
What Happens to your CSC when you flash a ROM?
If you flash a custom ROM (like HyperGalaxy) you will not be able to see your CSC code.
If you flash your nations Stock Firmware (like UK Stock ROM or US Cellular) you will get the default CSC Code used for the entire nations unbranded phones.
If you flash your nations carrier-branded Stock Firmware (Like T-Mobile UK or T-Mobile US) you will get the carrier specific CSC Code which can identify what ROM you are using.
If you have a branded phone, I recommend using your nation's unbranded counterpart to insure your stock has the most flexibility in terms of updates, then use TriangleAway to hide your flashes. THIS WILL VOID YOUR CARRIER WARRANTY BUT NOT YOUR SAMSUNG WARRANTY.
You can find your CSC Code by dialing: *#1234#
I hope this clarifies things for people.
One thing I have not been able to work out from searching is if the CSC will have any impact on the battery due to settings like Fast Dormancy?
Living and working in Germany I got my GS3 here and despite being shop bought unbranded it installs a load of German applications every time I have an update (Bild etc) and I got sick of disabling and deleting them each time. I flashed an older BTU firmware and then used Kies to update to the latest BTU (4.1.2) which has worked out fine, but I cant help feeling the battery life has diminished from this.
I've been flashing Android phones since the Galaxy S but believe certain things like the fast dormancy are newer and this leaves me wondering if the CSC now has more of an impact per region..
Any info please?

It could have something to do with the RIL (Radio Interface Layer)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5zaWJib3IuZ2V0cmlsIl0.
Try that and install a matching RIL.

Huh, that shows me a mismatch. RIL is not something I am familiar with (and I try!) so this is interesting. I'm also very surprised Kies did not update the entire thing.
So I better look into what RIL entails overall. And consider that thanks button pressed.
Hey guys!
So I've had my S3 for a few weeks now and i bought it online from Kogan and assumed that the CSC would be XSA because i chose Australia for the firmware update thing when i first booted my phone up.
However Kies shows my phone as being ORS which is the CSC for Slovakia.
I decided that I'm going to flash my phone to another CSC but I'm stuck on whether to change it to XSA (Australian) or to flash an European stock ROM. This is because Australia is horribly slow at receiving updates and most countries in Europe are the first to get them.
So since I have never flashed my S3 before, I would really appreciate it if someone could explain how and where to download the appropriate files from. Basically I want to be able to get updates quickly without having problems here in Australia. Any comment is welcome.
Thanks!

If you want JB now you need to flash the Polish ROM, either ICS and update or just flash one of the ODIN images. Or you can use a custom ROM based on that official release. Start with the sticky threads, then have a look in the development forum.
Hey,
I live in the UK and bought by S3 new on ebay, which is unbranded and an international version (i believe). The box said Orange France, however i havnt had any problems using it with my UK SIM. The jelly bean update has just been released through kies for the UK version of the S3, and i was just wondering what effect flashing this ROM using ODIN would have on my phone?
i downloaded the ROM from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902493
Thanks
CSC is nothing bar a few text files that enable auto network APN .
It will make no difference but will be more up todate with its network connections list .

Ah right, thanks. so its should actually be better then seeing as i'm flashing the UK firmware to it.
Play store services are not all available worldwide - and some are country-region specific- but as long as you have a western european CSC you're fine....
Sorry for digging up an old thread but it covers exactly what i'm after
There's no official release for 4.1x for Australia yet, P5110 16gb WiFi only
what other stock ROM's will be suitable to ensure my play store, etc will all operate without an issue.
Thanks in advance

Wrong forum
Specifically, yes. it's the wrong device.
But the same issue nevertheless.
Hence why i did include my device details.

Lol, well ok, I would advise sticking with your CSC but you can always try other Roms and flash back to yours. As you are Wi-Fi only you won't have any of the recent modem issues that have been present across several Samsung devices

No CSC does not matter its not required to make a phone work .
But that's relevant to the I9300 range your phone may or may not be the same .

I'm sorry to break into this post, but i have the same question.
I live in Italy, but i bought an international Galaxy S3 with Romania CSC and i wish to stick with the ITV csc code.
I tried to flash, but it breaks OTA/kies Updates (that's not bad at all... my firmware is still XXEMC2, March 2013 with i9300QXFMEA2 csc (info taken with *#1234#).
I've also read that double flashing changes the CSC code...i tries this procedure with no results (csc still COA)
Can you please give me some tips?
Tips read the stickied basic faqs and guides .
Make your mind up to upgrade via OTA/ Kies or XDA not both .

Hi, I have a new A52s, I bought it off Amazon, and didn't realise it was a grey import. It works fine with my provider (iDMobile in the UK), apart from WiFi calling. iDMobile say the problem is because it's German firmware (DBT CSC), so I started reading up on how to change this. All of the tricks using the phone dialer codes no longer work, so I downloaded the UK Unbranded firmware (BTU CSC), and flashed with Odin. However my phone remains as DBT. I ran Phone Info, and that says that my current firmware is only DBT CSC, with no others available. I did read somewhere that you could get a CSC change if you repartitioned with Odin while flashing. Does anyone know if that's the case? Or are there other approaches that I need to use to change the CSC?
I'm afraid I don't have an answer but I have the same question.
Am looking to buy an A52S 5G primarily as it's supported by my carrier for Wifi calling but carrier price is extortionate.
Flashing carrier firmware worked before on an old S7 but I'm not sure about doing the same on an A52s 5G.
How did you get on OP ?
I'm in Australia with a Taiwan BRI csc a52s.
Wifi calling never worked on android 11, but now I've updated to android 12 and wifi calling is working with my australian telstra sim!
Hopefully this means wifi calling is no longer dependant on csc.
What happens when you flash different csc firmware with odin?
