Interested in gaining root access on a newly acquired Samsung Fascinate.
Is SuperOneClick still an applicable method for gaining root access on this device?
There is another method described within the Fascinate Forum but it appears much more complicated.
Hi,
I recently bought a new SG I9100. I have owned, rooted and flashed my old Samsung Galaxy Ace before and now I wanted to root my SG I9100 too. After reading all the guides available, most referred to flashing a custom kernel with odin. Unfortunately flashing with Odin increases the custom binary counter, which then has further implications, which I wanted to avoid.
In the following Post however: [Guide][CWM][Root][ICS] Universal proper rooting for most ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28178105&postcount=1
There is a way to root the device described as method 1, which is similiar to what I did to root my Galaxy Ace. That method adds root to the device without apparently increasing the custom binary download counter, exactly what I was looking for.
Now what I am wondering before I root my device is, why would someone use any other method to root his device than method 1?
If there is a method where you just have to copy two zip files to your SD Card and flash it, why would someone go the long way via Odin and insecure kernels etc. to root it's device with additionally increasing the custom binary download counter?
I am asking because most of the guides describe the complicated procedure via Odin and flashing a Kernel, while the Method 1 described in the post that I have linked to is much easier and has more benefits. But this procedure however is not so public. Most guides describe the Odin method. I was lucky that I have found that post, otherwise I would have rooted via odin and messed with the download counter.
Can anyone please explain why someone would root with Odin while you can do it with the CWM method?
Thanks!
Hi, I've tried this tutorial to root my Galaxy S2 SPH-D710. I can access the recovery menu and get all the root options, but superuser does not give root permissions, I'm really new to this. Does this mean the root did not take?
Since I'm new I can't post the link but it's on rwilco12.com, and the tutorial for SPHD710 root.
Thats the tutorial I followed.
I have a samsung galaxy S4 and recently purchased a zsamsung T700 8.4 samsung tablet. Both are running KitKat.
I'm really tired of being afraid to root these since I'm stuck with the loss of so much memory devoted to bloatware. I'm a very capable Windows user and really should be able to learn how to root my phone and tablet.
Would greatly appreciate recommendations of sites or books that would simplify the process so that I can get over the anxiety and develop more competence.
Thanks
Not sure about the tablet, but I help you find a guide if you could post your s4 model number. If you're running on the i9500 or i9505, easiest way to root it would be to first download odin 3.09 and flash a custom recovery on it, simple process which shouldn't mess up the phone. And once that's done you can flash a custom/stock rom which is knox and bloatware free, or you can choose to flash SuperSU and gain root access.
But if you're looking to only root your s4 for removing few system apps, check out "cf.autoroot tool" by chain fire, and check if your firmware is supported. It's a simple one click root method.
Been searching for a root method for this device because prior Kitkat op became corrupted with a rooted program, the system was updated and the program is locked into the op and can not be removed without root. I have tried many different root methods with no success. Has anyone else successfully rooted this op? T817VVRU2BPE1_PE2?
