If this works, will you be able to unlock bootloader? Or will it reset when you go to unlock because it wipes phone?

Evidently even if this works, it doesn't allow the bootloader to be unlocked. It remains greyed out. Just the SIM is unlocked. Unless of course you run the flashing unlock command and it unlocks even though it's still greyed out.. But I doubt that would happen

Hey can you try the T-Mobile pixel unlock app and see what it says now that your SIM unlocked?

It worked for me initially, but now the SIM is not working, it shows disabled on SIMs and it doesn't work when I try to enable.
If I try with original carrier SIM it works ok.
Weirdly is NOT showing the message "Your SIM is not supported" like it was doing before doing this unlock trick.
One more data point. I believe this issue of not recognizing my other carrier SIM might have started once I tried to create another user within my pixel 6. That new setup was showing as carrier locked, and then when switched back to my main user (owner) it was not recognizing the SIM.
I'll update if I find any workaround other than factory reset and start all over again.
Thoughts?

My phone has been doing that since day one. I had to do a SIM unlock on my previous phone, the OnePlus 8, so unless that's what caused it, nothing else has happened to it. Should I try setting up an eSIM instead?

So, this thread game me the idea to try and remove the carrier lock. After four different customer service reps at T-Mobile the request was put in. Twenty four hours later, I have it unlocked.

I received my 6 Pro last week and i have attempted Unlocking it via Customer Care, T-Mobile Help, as well as Facebook and they all said i need to have device for 40 days, but nothing about paying it off.
I had to call tech support for the 5G ISP and they transfered me to Tech Support for devices and i told them i was going away for the holidays and , BANG! just like that they whitelisted my IMEI

There are people on XDA that do it for free and properly. Those paid services will simply send you a code that you can't enter anywhere because they don't actually know the unlock method for your phone.
Sorry. You were scammed.

Probably. I can wait the 40 days if I was

I never need to wait the 40 days or pay a cent. As I said, you can ask the usual people on XDA or ask T-Force on Twitter. The latter will usually unlock your phone quickly and without much fuss if you ask nicely. Just show that you're a loyal T-Mobile customer and they'll help you out.

Are should I just sell my device and go buy a tmobile or At&t device.what would you guys do? Thanks In advance!!!

Well I know you can take and put a T-Mobile or AT&T SIM card in Sprint in a work I'm just curious how closer frequencies are how good it will work that's what I meant thanks
Since the S8 (I think) the manufacturers (Samsung) started making their devices to support both CDMA and GSM.
Older smartphones (up until last year) used to support either one of the two technologies, but not anymore, now you can use your CDMA (Sprint) S9 with a GSM sim (AT&T and T-Mobile).
In my experience CDMA unlocked phones work on GSM. Not the other way around. And just an add on Verizon phones I think all of them but I know the s9+ , Note 8 , and the iPhones all are unlocked from factory and will work and even populate the APNs for (ATT) GSM. Which is what I use.

After inquiring if they could provide me an unlock code for my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S9+ and getting the reply
"That's does not matter, all carriers are supported. For Sprint phones there is a 100% success rate.". :victory:
I used the service yesterday, paying $13 via paypal; and got the "unlock code" this morning and instructions on hot to unlock my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S9+.
After downloading their Network_Unlock App and following the instructions to apply the unlock code, I got the message "Device Permanently Unlocked";
Rebooted the phone as indicated and inserted a non Sprint SIM, the phone notifies "Invalid SIM card" and "Unable to read SIM card contact your service provider"
This makes me think that the service may be a hoax.... Other unlock providers for this phone charge from $45 up to $180... so $13 is too good to be true. :crying:
Anyway, I'm looking to double check with a different online network unlocker, but I'm facing the issue of that my phone is not being recognized by my computer.

Ask for a refund, if no response alert paypal immediately. they'll eventually refund you and block the scammers account after investigation
Can't speak for the S9 but my S8 was unlocked through Sprint since last year and I have used it on both att and t mobile. When an att sim is added, phone restarts with att apps installed. It evens displays that annoying NFC indicator. I was really surprised to see WiFi calling was working on att with my Sprint GS8

No I didn't work I bought the service day before yesterday I followed all the steps they told me in the email and I didn't work at all not for sprint. I'm opening a PayPal case for refund.
I am actually working with them as we speak and or said that my phone was permanently unlocked, which I believe due to the actions of the phone before it was unlocked. which was the signal bar image changing. before I paid to have it unlocked the signal bar was not there when I put in different Sim cards.
it was that circle with the line "?" in its spot. And it constantly wanted me to put in the UICC sim that came with it. now it had a signal bar, but it is grayed out with an "X" in it.
no longer am I being asked to in put the UICC Sim card. those messages and alerts have all stopped. it is just saying that my Sim card is "not readable contact service provider".
I told them before they started and showed them afterwards with pictures and they informed me that my level of luck isn't just a normal network lock. and they claimed to have sent in a request to Sprint Servers or whatever to have the phone unlocked.
now when it comes to it not working flat out. I was told that custom firmware and Roms causes the unlocking to not work. I didn't want to believe them, but being trusting, I reflashed the stock firmware and followed the instructions and it unlocked the phone, my sim card just can't be read atm. but the company is working to get that fixed. they have been very helpful and answering all my questions and concerns. I blame Sprint for them using different security patches and ****

Any update?
Just adding some more info and possible options for us sprint s9+ owners..
I did not have any luck with samsungsimunlock either and so I'm trying with unlockpolice. They claim to be able to perform an uicc unlock.
Costs 180.00 but if it works for me will post the results. Should hopefully know by around Friday if they were able to do it.
The company actually read into a small snag. Which is another encryption type lock. They actually had to contact Sprint for some other code that I have to input. That's is if Sprint answers them back anytime soon. And I was going to try unlock police, but 180$ is way too much. I wonder I can do a trade in with Samsung for another phone

Unlock Token for MetroPCS / T-Mobile version

I just got sim unlock yesterday but when i try to request a unlock using token i keep getting a message invalid IMEI. Is there a waiting period after sim unlock before we can get bootloader unlock via token? OnePlus support doesnt know and told me to wait 24 hours.

Good luck with that MetroPCS can't even figure out how to let me use my debit card to pay my bill in there app
Spoke with metro today and was told they don't have access to the unlock tokens for this phone. I screenshot yes the conversation and sent it to OnePlus and said please help.
There is a user on the OnePlus forums saying OnePlus told him the bootloader can't be unlocked

Oneplus will definitely provide the unlock token if their higher level managers are aware of this issue.
They have the unlock token and just need to update the unlock website to include all Metropcs IMEIs.
It is really as simple as flipping a switch if the right person knows it.
According to data, most of the N10's sold in the US are actually the metropcs version. It is the most sold phone for metropcs. Not many people are buying it from t-mobile or oneplus directly.
Rightnow, all the chat/email representatives are not high level enough to flip that switch. That is why they told you oneplus cannot unlock metropcs n10's bootloader.
What we need to do is keeping asking the representatives to escalate this issue to higher managers.
i just did that on the online oneplus support and im now going to get on the phone and call to speak to a live person because i dont have muck faith in the person on the other end of that chat to actually escalate after asking that be done multiple times
I get the run around from OnePlus almost everyday they claim to escalate ticket

The chat/email agents are really low level.
They first replied me with t-mobile unlock policy, which has nothing to do with metropcs n10 bootloader unlock issue.
I bet they didn't even read my entire message except for the word "unlock".

Yeah that's the same site that every Metropcs owner has been going to they don't know how to unlock metro versions even if you have waited the 180 days
Metropcs/by TMobile has been hell with bootloaders.
If you can still find my guides on Android forums, the LG Motion 4g development shows how far metro will go to keep your device "stock".
Someone eventually adapted a Loki kernel to function and 2 years of crying became history
I guess I'm not the only one getting the run around. This device has great hardware and has been solid, but I don't like the idea of a company telling me how to use something I spent my hard earned fiats on! I am also waiting for a manager from oneplus to get back to me. Will keep ya'll posted!
OEM unlock is no longer greyed out on my phone.
I got the notification that my phone was capable of being unlocked via the metro unlocker app. After rebooting, OEM unlock was clickable af.
Didn't need the unlock token and I've already tested by firing up the muhfuggin dsu launcher
Good news:
Oneplus finally escalated my request to higer level manager and my metropcs n10 is now eligible for bootloader unlock token.
I just submitted mine and will wait 7 days to get the unlock token.

Question Pixel 6 ATT/FirstNet Carrier unlock

This question is for anyone who has a pixel 6, or really any new pixel (5, 5a, 4a) on At&T or Firstnet (same policies).
Does ATT's Sim unlock also enable Bootloader unlock. (Ungrey the setting in dev options and allow root).
Trying to confirm what this user said: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/at-t-pixel-5-is-carrier-locked.4195785/post-84100651
For anyone who says "Just buy a Google one", I can't. I'm a first responder and need a full firstnet capable device. I also don't have $900 to spend on a pixel 6 pro, especially when FirstNet is discounting the mmwave + sub 6 pixel 6 $200 for first responders.
THIS IS FOR TMOBILE but is prob similar on ATT -- i have owned several tmobile oneplus devices, as well as countless other tmobile devices. can't help but trade in my old junk, you know? anyway, if you are getting your phone on EIP, then you will need to stay on the network for 40 days before you can ask tmobile to SIM unlock your phone. and they will do it. no questions. just make sure that phone is activated on the tmo network for 40 days. this is for SIM unlock.
alternatively, you can pay the phone off in full. then tmobile will SIM unlock it for your sooner. again, this is SIM unlock.
alternatively (#2), there's a guy on XDA who does this for Tmobile. he requires 3 days of active service. there may be someone similar for ATT.
once you are SIM unlocked, the OEM UNLOCKING toggle becomes active. at that point you can turn it on.
from there, its a matter of using fastboot commands to unlock the bootloader. or whatever other methods are necessary on a pixel phone. i've owned oneplus phones for the last 8 years so this will all be new to me when i get my pixel 6 in a couple days.

Did you have to fill out their online web form , or put in the new sim for it to ungrey out ? How long did it take to allow you to change the setting?
Also thanks for answering. This is good news.
Interesting. Does anyone know if you have to have an AT&T account to purchase an AT&T phone at full retail price (ie: without buying it on a plan and then paying it off)?
I wonder if it would be possible to purchase an AT&T Pixel 6 outright so it's unlocked, unlock the bootloader, and use it on Verizon (with full Sub-6 and mmWave support).

It looks like you would have to have an account and choose a plan, but you could cancel it immediately if you bought the phone at full price. At worst you would have to pay $30 for activation, but hopefully not.

Seems doable.
I wonder if the VZ and/or AT&T variant of the firmware is needed for mmWave to function correctly or if the "global," non carrier-specific firmware still includes drivers for mmWave (even though the global variant of the phone lacks a mmWave modem).
Probably a stretch, but I figure it's worth asking: You wouldn't happen to have access to and/or know somebody that has a 5G Verizon phone with a 5G sim you could test it with, do you? Even better would be in an area with known-working 5G mmWave.

I wonder if the VZ and/or AT&T variant of the firmware is needed for mmWave to function correctly or if the "global," non carrier-specific firmware still includes drivers for mmWave (even though the global variant of the phone lacks a mmWave modem).

Good question. I had assumed the mmWave capability was hardware-dependent. Honestly I'm not sure.

Question Pixel 6 Tmobile Bootloader unlock issues

Super excited received my P6 from tmobile today, loving it so far, except for the fact that i cant unlock the device!, i received it and dev option was already enabled and the device has a greyed out Oem unlock with (cannot be used on carrier locked device)
I believe you can unlock the bootloader once the device has been paid off in full. That was the case with my 4 xl anyway
So you need to contact tmobile and get an unlock code, or look for an unlock app here, but I'll try to help by asking, whats a p6?
A year away from leaving primary school lol...
Nah, seriously, who made the p6?

You have to the sim unlocked. TMobile's policy is 40 days after purchase and paid off, they will unlock the sim, which provides the authorization (ungrey) to unlock the bootloader.
You can try and chat with T-Mobile via social media and they may or may not unlock the sim for you. It's good to have a reason you need it unlocked.
I answer a question in the HELP OTHERS ANSWER UN_ANSWERED QUESTIONS... thanks...
Ah, GOOGLE made it. That was not in the title, hence my question.
Wooosaaaaah...
This is neither a google OR pixel thread.
Twas an unanswered question.

I had mine unlocked Monday through FB chat. Also, not paid off. Someone earlier today mentioned they couldn't get there's done through chat. Glad to see yours is unlocked. Enjoy.

Lmfao, alright alright, thats fair, i thought you were lurking in the thread tryna be funny, i used to love to troll, hence my response. i thought it would have showed it was a Pixel 6 thread
Lol, I noticed only after you replied that while you were in your own thread, I was just answering questions in the un-answered questions section, my apologies
Ask @mobbdeep
Your best bet is chat, if the chat doesn't do it. Call in during mid day to get ahold of a local expert. You can ask for a whitelist of your IMEI. 'Your job requires it to have the bootloader unlock'.
Had mine done today because the software was broken - forced flash all partitions through the pixel utility.
But give T-Maybe a call.
It took me (7) times, yes 6 returns and re-upgrades before i got the right rep to whitelist the IMEI, before i even took the device out of the box, the customer service rep had the IMEI whitelisted and Carrier Unlocked Successfully.
I am awaiting my P6P now, and if the 1st boot with no SIM doesn't work, to the phone i'll go...
I talked to a FB chat rep and he didn't do it for me. Attempt 1 is a failure. I'll try again tomorrow and then maybe everyday once. All I need is just one considerate rep.

Throughout the years I've noticed @T-MobileHelp on Twitter has more tools/authority in General, over Customer Care or in a Store. That being said, they are more "by the book" and stick to the rules more. The only difference was I told them it was a replacement device, and my last Pixel (4XL) was Unlocked. No questions asked, the Rep flipped the switch without question. Device was NOT paid off, it was actually billed to my account, downpayment and all...

Actually, right after my reply last night at 1:30 am CST, I talked to a customer service rep and asked her to out my device to whitelist. And she did it! She said that it'll take up to 24 hours for the request to get processed. She also confirmed that then my device will be network unlocked and I'll be able to OEM unlock.
20 hours have passed since then and I'm waiting patiently...

I'm picking up a Pixel 6 tomorrow from T-Mobile - what kind of work would require this? Just want to be prepared when I call them in case they push the issue.
P.S. Sorry to necropost

This contradicts most of what we know. For T-Mobile to have your IMEI in their system, you’d have to have the SIM card in the phone and have used it, otherwise they wouldn’t have record of your IMEI? Even @mobbdeep who was the user here that unlocks TMO for us for free, one his requirements was exactly this, the device to be unlocked needs to have the SIM currently installed for a minimum of 3 days. He even went as far as saying if we happened to remove it at any time, the 3 day minimum resets. But other Pixel 6 users said they were able to unlock the same or next day after buying it so maybe 3 days is no longer required, however the phone sim still needed to be inserted for your IMEI to show in the system. How did you unlock a device that you hadn’t possessed yet and why the need to return the device 6-7 times? If TMO refused to unlock you, there’s no need to return or reupgrade your device? There’s nothing wrong with it, the issue is with the TMO rep, them refusing to help means they likely did nothing to your device at all so no need to exchange it?
I asked Twitter T-Mobile help to get my phone unlocked. They did it for me. After I got the notification I tried to use the unlock app from T-Mobile for Google pixels only. It didn't work. I suspect you don't need it though.

Question [T-Mobile] Sim unlocked, Bootloader Locked

Since this seems to be a slightly different problem than I have been seeing in the other Sim/Bootloader unlock threads I figured I would post it separately.
Currently I have a Pixel 6 purchased through T-Mobile that I convinced them to unlock already. I have verified it as unlocked through the T-Force rep, the T-Mobile/Pixel unlock app, as well as a sim card (FI if it makes a difference.) But no matter what I do (including device check in using *#*#checkin#*#*), I can't seem to get the OEM unlock to trigger. From everything I have seen I don't see why it wont allow the OEM unlock.
Edit: It seems I missed another thread with the same issue. Doesn't look like there was a resolution there though or any other post I have yet to see. Apologies for starting another thread in this case though!
Edit 2: Adding some screenshots for extra clarity on what I am seeing on the P6. The OEM unlock message stays the same whether on WiFI, Original T-Mobile sim or any other SIM I try to use. Thinking I may need to go bother support again to see if they have everything switched on right.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe there are two types of sim unlock: permanent and temporary. I believe the latter type does not allow the bootloader to be unlocked, wheras the former type does.

You are correct. In my case though according to the rep as well as the app, I have the permanent unlock. But after reboots, and factory resets it still won't toggle.

I wonder if Tmobile's new policy for porting numbers is effecting this. Just throwing it out there.

Thanks! About time they did a little more for the sim porting issue that T-Mobile keeps having. Doesn't look like something that should have an effect on getting it unlocked since I still have the same T-Mobile service.
Adding some screenshots to the OP for what I'm seeing with it so far.
Do you have a TMobile sim in your phone? I ask because your screen shot shows Google fi and Verizon. You may want to put the TMobile sim in and see if that changes anything.

I tried that too. FI and Verizon were to see if the phone recognized it was unlocked. Talked to T-mo support again just to double check everything and it shows as unlocked. Not sure why the phone still doesn’t want to allow oem unlock.
I thought the device had to be paid off and past a 40 day period. Also, I remember years back you needed a token to be able unlock the bootloader. I don't know if that is still a thing or not.

The token is not needed anymore, at least on the pixel. Concerning being paid off and 40 day period, some, including myself were able to ask and get a tmobile rep to unlock the sim, which in turn provided the unlock bootloader functionality. For example, I'm on a payment plan and sim was unlocked a few days after getting the phone back on the initial release date in October.

I haven’t heard of a token being needed for quite some time (older pixels) but I would love if there was one right about now!
So far I have been on several chats with T-Mobile and Tforce with no luck in a resolution. They say that all they can do is the sim unlock, which is done and works perfectly. Also verified it isn’t a temp unlock but a full one. I still have yet to be able to toggle the OEM unlock switch.

Someone in another thread (I cannot recall which one) mentioned a factory reset as an option that worked for him/her. That is, after a factory reset, they were able to enable OEM unlocking. You may want to try that. (It does wipe data). Hope it works for you.

That Is one of the many things I have tried so far. I wish it has worked. Not really worried about data loss so I’ve been trying a variety of things.

Yeah I’m out of them too. Outside of flat out replacing the device, if they even let me since it still works and there’s technically “nothing wrong” with it.
We shall see. I appreciate your help though!
Is this a qualcomm chip in this device. If so my method might just ungray the switch.
You'll want to factory reset your phone for the OEM button to be selectable. When you unlock your bootloader that factory resets your phone anyways so it shouldn't be a big deal. Had same issue and after factory resetting and rebooting the button magically no longer grayed out.
There's a reddit thread that discusses this, that's what helped me
Stupid question what version android you on also did you enroll in the beta software at all sorry I can't help I'm just throwing that out there to give others more idea also do you think t mobile got confused and just sim unlocked your phone and not activated OEM unlocking there end
