Hi,
My LG G7 ThinQ phone correctly connects via Bluetooth, unlocks the Chromebook, etc. The Phone Hub at the bottom show the "Connecting..." message along with "Make sure your phone is nearby and has turned on."
It never connects.
Hardware:
Acer Chromebook R11
LG G7 thinQ with Android 10 fully updated
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello everyone.
Newbie Android user here.
I'm the proud owner of a Nokia E71 and as you might know by now the Archos 70 doesn't connect via WiFi Ad-Hoc meaning Joikuspot on my Symbian phone is useless with the 70! So I tried the bluetooth method. Have heard from people that this works Ok but not for me...
This is what I did:
I turned on Bluetooth in the Archos and in my E71. They "found" each other and I paired them using number "1234" on both devices. Archos says that the device is "paired" but not connected. Should it says connected?
Went to "Wireless & net."->"Cell phone tethering"->menu key, "Add a profile" -> "Bluetooth" Create profile (set APN name for my phone company)
And... doesn't teether...
Am I missing something?!?
Thanks!
Ok. I downloaded the new firmware, erased everything (started from scratch), and after I finished setting up everything just like I wanted it, tried it again... IT WORKED!!!
Even if it says "Paired but not Connected" it teethers when you want to. Now I'm not sure if I did something differently or if it was the upgrade...
Anyway, thanks!
Im sitting in a moyelrwith a wifi that uses a Captive Portal. That is wifi that is left open but when you try to get online it redirects you to a login page
My smartphones, LG Optimus V works fine as does my Uncles Windows 7 Toshiba Satellite laptop.
My tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will not. Neither will my Acer Aspiron Ubuntu laptop. Both will just continuous show a loading page. They are connected to the network. They should rediterto the Captive portal but they just load. Any help would be much appreciated.
Bump, anyone have any ideas for help it would be much appreciated
I am running CyanogenMod 7.1 (stable 6.5.8). I think it's great. Thanks to all who have contributed.
The only issue I am experiencing is with USB tethering. When I use Portable Wi-Fi hotspot, I have no issues whatsoever. When I use USB tethering, my internet connection randomly drops. When I turn off USB tethering for about 5 seconds and then turn it back on, it connects almost instantly. Sometimes I stay connected for 15 minutes - sometimes 1 minute.
If I were experiencing the same issues with the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot, I'd suspect I was working with a poor data connection - but the Wi-Fi hotspot is completely stable and almost nevers drops the data connection.
I prefer using USB over Wi-Fi because of battery life on my phone and laptop.
Any suggestions as to how to resolve would be appreciated including recommendations for other USB tethering apps.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the response. Sincerely appreciated.
So I installed PdaNet and my phone froze up after I connected it. Something to do with the USB drivers I suspect. After removing the battery to reboot it, I removed the LG United drivers, reinstalled PdaNet and all seemed fine. However, I'm still getting the frequent disconnects.
When I go into Device Manager, I see 3 unknown devices all referring to "on LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device". Are the drivers that get installed with PdaNet all that is required or do I need the LG drivers as well? If I need the LG drivers, could you please point me to the best download location as there seem to be so many variation of them. (I have an LG Optimus T).
Any suggestions on how to rectify would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any further direction.

For reasons unknown to me, when I tried using my Lenovo B6000-F tablet running 4.2.2 I could NOT connect to the Internet (WiFi). Several other devices from laptop to Samsung phone all connecting - working. I tried troubleshooting I cannot turn WiFi ON. You can move the button (screen slide switch), prompt indicates turning ON WiFi, but instantly the switch returns to OFF.
Found a site which I understood could be downloaded to my laptop then connect the Lenovo to my laptop to transfer the software/driver/? When I had time to perform the update / repair, the link had been removed/was dead..
Googling, etc. has not helped me find a way to REPAIR the Lenovo. So it sit here useless (without WiFi access). A friend directed me to this forum. Being new to the forum, I do not know if I must continually check back or if I will be notified if-when someone responds.
THANKS!

Hi all,
For some time now I've been working on Android-to-Android Tethering, which seems to be pretty difficult without 3rd party apps and/or HW peripherals (such as USB-to-Ethernet converters).
I've been working with a Rooted Samsung Tab Active 2 running Android 7.1.1 and several internet-connected devices: Samsung S8, Samsung S7 and also another Tab Active 2. All devices come with RNDIS support and have "Ethernet configuration" under connection settings.
I managed to get it to work using "EasyTether" with a client app and a server app. BUT, first, I don't like and don't want an app that controls all my networking data. Second, I don't understand how come we haven't yet done it with native Android configurations.
I tried connecting two device via USB cable using a standard USB-C to USB-A to OTG converter to Type-C (or micro-USB-B with the S7).
On the host device (the one with the OTG connector) I enabled USB tethering, but nothing happened. Tried pinging devices, but no dice. still, both devices recognize a connected USB-device and I can see their details using a USB-Diagnostics app.
Tried turning on Rndis as the USB setting - On some cases both Rndis interfaces up and running, with IP addresses, subnets and routes configured, but nothing. Not even a ping between devices. On other cases Rndis would be DOWN, but setting "ifconfig rndis0 up" would do nothing without printing any error.
I believe now that the Rndis drivers present in an Android phone or Tablet contain only the part of the client, while the host part of the driver exists on PCs.
I would appreciate some help with this.
Thanks,
Shedaim
Hi, sorry to reviwe old thread. But did you get anywhere with this? I am looking for a ethernet tether. I got the following adapter https://www.kjell.com/se/produkter/dator/mac-tillbehor/plexgear-multiadapter-for-usb-c-p61629 That worked great meaning it could power the phone at the same time as working as a usb and ethernet adapter. Internet to the phone with cable no problem. The phone (samsung A8) detects the adapter as a eth0. BUT there is no function to "tether with ethernet".... This is super strange that it has not been built in. Have googled it for ages but cant find anything.
