I have an LG Optimus Elite running Android 2.3.7, and support for logging into a Google account has been removed.
According to this XDA thread, it should be possible to preserve your login if you backup the data from your Google apps.
If this is the case, is there any way to go around the Google login process and make Play Store work again? Are there any files I can edit that would allow me to login?
I swear I was logged in before I decided to pick up this ancient brick again, but I was logged out of both of my Google accounts, one which never had it's password changed.
(And are there any versions of F-Droid that work on 2.3.7? The latest version doesn't work on 2.3.7...)
Thanks.

Finally google has kicked in, now it doesnt allow people without gmail email address to access the market place. Probably this is due to updates that it brought arround to provide paid apps.
Why should one need to be google binded to use free andorid apps available on market place? For me as of now I cannot access the market place. It says i need to have gmail account. Where as I am using google hosted domain app services and using primary email as [email protected]
Any work arround?
Use gmail as secondary account....
Its googles market and google makes the terms. If you cant accept them, dont use it then. there is plenty of other ways to get apps

Just Google it...

All Google apps accounts are being "upgraded" so that you can use them for things like Reader, Blogger, Youtube and of course Market.
If you are the apps administrator then you will have been sent am email by Google offering you the option of an early upgrade unless you have opted out of mailings!
If not, then sit tight and it will be with you soon. Failing that, just set up a secondary Google account for Market.
I am applied for transition, i hope this solves the issue.
Think it may have to do with setting up a different gmail acct than the one I use with Google Play on previous ROM. regardless, now I just have a dozen or so generic apps instead of all my previously installed ones. Help!
If you change to a diffrent Google account only sideloaded apps (apps not loaded through Google) will stay on the device. All other apps has to be re-installed through the new Google account.
At least I think that's how it is...

Yep, that's how it is. Play Store apps are linked to the account on your device. With that being said, though, you can also have two Google accounts on one device -- add another Google account in System Settings, and you'll be able to select which account is active when you're using the Play Store.
[Can't seem to add another gmail acct. under Settings...when I go under ADD Account and hit Google it takes me back to previous screen in Settings
Hello,
I recently bought Asus MeMo Pad 10 Smart and I have slightly problem. When I set up an account on first account there are no updates for system apps in Play Store, but they are when I wipe everything and set up on my second account, there are plenty of updates (gmail, hangout etc.). But because I need to use first account I don't know how to fix it. I already update system to Andorid 4.2.1 and I have latest (?) version of Google Play services (4.4.52) and Google Play Store (4.6.17). I tried also to uninstall updates and install them again but without success. Does anybody know how to fix it?
best regards,
I have an old laptop that is running Bluestacks build 0721 Beta, which is great news. But I'm having problems trying to download a specific app that I can only get from Google play.
The main problem is Google Play doesn't come pre-installed, and so through trial and error I've had to to install the ADW Launcher app from the pre-installed mobile1 app, which allows me to at least get to the Google Play homepage.
But this then asks me for my Google account and password which I enter, which then causes it to promptly return to the ADW Launcher home.
I think the problem is that although I can add a Facebook and Twitter account with this version, I can't add a Google account. I've tried to download the current Google Gmail app, but it says my device isn't compatible.
Any of you guys know how I can get get Google Play to download apps on the first downloadable build 0721 of Bluestacks?
Cheers,
Jmc
I would like to switch to Chrome OS for "industrial" use by installing android apks on Chrome instead of Android and benefiting from a better remote management and OS version control/updates.
However one apk to be installed requires, for licensing, that a specific account be registered on the system.
On Android, you go to "accounts" and then add it - it is a simple mail account, though that could be a Gmail/Google account - but the same account will have to be deployed on the fleet of devices, so many devices on one account.
Do we have the same possibility on Chrome OS?
Thanks,
Nicolas
Ask Dev. For volume licensing?

Are you asking if you can set up accounts on ChromeOS' Android subsystem? If so, the answer is yes- via the Android Settings. Works exactly the same as within Android itself.
If you're trying to set up an email account specifically-- you can use Gmail accounts with the Gmail Android app (which would use Account Settings as described above). You can use the web app via mail.google.com. Or if you want to go outside google, you can use something like K-9 mail (which you can get via the Play Store or via F-Droid or even build and deply yourself) and set that up just like any other Android app.
Hope this answers the question.
