Hey everyone, hope you all are well!
I am having issues with maintaining a Wi-Fi connection with the device. Randomly, I will see that the phone is connected to the AP but has a message "connected to device but no internet" right below the SSID or that anything that needs to pull data becomes extremely slow/doesn't load. No other devices on my network does this and after playing with a few settings on the phone itself I still have no idea why this is happening. This is with a Pixel 6 256 GB model.
Devices that are make up my LAN:
OPNsense 21.7.5 (Gateway, DHCP Server (IPV6 is disabled))
PiHole v5.6 (DNS)
DDWRT v3.0-r47618 (Running on Linksys WRT-1900 ACS V2, this is configured in ROUTER mode, DHCP+DNS+NTP+IPV6 all disabled)
Things that I have tried:
1) Tried disabling Adaptive Connectivity, as well as under the AP there is the Privacy setting to use random MAC, I set it to use device MAC
2) Restarting my LAN devices + made sure they are all up to date
3) Due to phone pulling from old phone during initial setup, I remove all APs that were saved and reconnected manually
4) Trying the Pixel 6 on another AP (Connectivity was stable no issues, AP was a public AP at work)
5) In phone's reset options, there is an option to reset all network settings
6) Full reset of phone through reset option and manually setting phone up instead of copying from old phone.
If anyone else might have any idea as to what I could do or try, hell if there is even a way to capture what is happening, please let me know.
One more thing that I ran into, there are other users out there that have an option under Network Preference "Switch to mobile data automatically". I purchased this phone directly from Google, so it should be unlocked, but I don't see that option under my Network Preference.
Thank you in advance!
wonder why your link speed is so slow with 802.11ac...should be higher than that...

Damn, I didn't even notice that. I have updated my AP settings so lets see if this will stick.
Thank you for pointing that out, I appreciate it!

Small update, I have reconfigured my wireless and am still having issues with the Pixel 6 dropping randomly.
DDWRT settings for the 5 GHz network have been updated, the device has been rebooted. Screenshot of settings in attachment. Also attached are screenshots from the pixel 6.
There is a screenshot with AP info for the 5 GHz, in this screenshot at the bottom you can see both my interfaces and all the connected wireless device. The MAC address with the red is the Pixel 6. The Blue is my OP 6.

Thank you for the reply Wibbly, but I am not seeing the option in Dev Options.
I was looking for the setting that is shown in the screenshot. Although could this only be a Pixel 6 Pro option? I would doubt that but I have no idea.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but I got my phone directly from google.
I got my P6 (non pro) from Google and it's there, as described above. I was having a similar issue but found it was related to adaway's non-root VPN, which I ultimately uninstalled.

Hello all I am paying for a wireless tethering plan yet the mobile hotspot seems to time out every 12 seconds. It will lode a web site usually half way before my data just drops to 0 kb/s and I have about 4 bars of lte. I don't know if there is a way to fix this, I have tried turning it on and off and rebooting but nothing seems to help this issue. When it stops responding to my computer the device name changes to a * and then it will not send data anymore. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I'm running into the same problem as well. I can tether through USB just fine but whenever I use the mobile hotspot my internet starts to timeout. I'll be lucky if I can go 5 minutes without it timing out.
Are either of you using Tasker? I had a very similar problem where I was using Tasker to determine when I was home by toggling Wifi to check for my home network and then setting sound profiles. I found that tasker would toggle the wifi which caused my wifi tether to stop working. It would look like it was on, but wouldn't send data. I fixed it by having tasker stop toggling wifi when running my wifi tether app..
Any smart action profiles set? Turn it off & see if it continues.

Mmh, I've got the EU RAZR (don't have to pay to route my connection where I want) and the Wireless Tethering is working flawlessly (HSPA+).
Maybe they haven't used the same software OR they've used the same software but there's a problem when LTE is ON.
Anyway, the EU RAZR is about to get an OTA...and VZW one should as well.

You may be on to something here. I'm going to try to wifi tether on 3G to see what happens.
I'm finding tethering is better with 3g than 4g for some reason.

Setting the data connection to 3G didn't help. It took a little bit longer to time out this time but it still happened.
So I kind of figured out why I'm getting timed out, but I'm no closer to a solution.
When I tether through USB, 4G will stay connected. Nothing wrong with it.
When I tether through WiFI, I time out because the 4G connection drops after a few seconds and when 4G is re-established. The 4G connection does not have data, even though it says 4G. I cannot access data on my phone or on any tethered device.
When I turn off the mobile hotspot, then my 4G will drop again and when 4G is re-established, then data starts to work again.
edit:
Maybe I have a faulty phone. I'm going to try to exchange it this weekend.

I have similar problem connecting a Kindle Fire to a Verizon provisioned hotspot. Web browsing doesnt work but music, videos, apps, and books seem to work. I haven't had a chance to check but on the Thunderbolt we had a similar issue and it turned it to be bad dns server for the wifi connected devices.
I don't have the ability to set a custom DNS server on the Fire so I can't check this at the moment. I'll report back when I can verify if this is the issue with a laptop.
I have a EU razr and I also have problems with Wifi tether - my computer can connect fine but I get "limited connectivity" and no Internet access. Worked without issue on SE Arc with same provider and APN settings.
What other Hotspot apps are out there that hopefully work better?
Same issue.
From what I have been reading on other forums this is a known issue that Motorola is working on and the ETA for the fix is no more than two weeks. We'll see.
This seems to work
I tried the steps below and haven't had a drop in the last 15 minutes. I'm not a network guy so I don't know the reasoning behind why this worked for me, but so far so good. If you're not comfortable messing with the Registry, then don't try this. I used a spare PC to test it first.
Change the Default Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) Size Settings
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NdisWan\Parameters
3. Add a Protocols subkey (if it does not already exist). To do so:
a. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
b. Type Protocols, and then press ENTER.
4. Add a 0 (zero) subkey to the Protocols subkey. To do so:
a. Click the Protocols subkey that you created step 3.
b. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
c. Type 0 (zero), and then press ENTER.
5. Click the 0 subkey that you created in step 4.
6. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
7. In the Value data box, type ProtocolType, and then click OK.
8. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
9. In the Value data box, type 800, make sure Hexadecimal is selected under Base, and then click OK.
10. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
11. Type PPPProtocolType, and then press ENTER.
12. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
13. In the Value data box, type 21, make sure Hexadecimal is selected under Base, and then click OK.
14. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
15. Type ProtocolMTU, and then press ENTER.
16. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
17. Under Base, click Decimal, type the MTU size that you want in the Value data box, and then click OK. ( I used 1400)
18. Quit Registry Editor.
19. Restart your computer.
On the Razr: Open Mobile Hotspot Settings-> Configure Mobile Hotspot. At the bottom, change the Client (DHCP) start address to 172.168.20.10

Any updates to this? Having the same problem and can't seem to make it work. Don't have a rooted RAZR so can't try the download link.
Hey! I used to have problems for a while with my tethering as well and ANY device I connected just wouldn't have access to the internet. I tried a lot of different apps, methods etc., to get it working and nothing seemed to work. But one day, I tried my own thing. I simply connected my device via wifi tethering (I don't use USB, but this should still work), and then, after it was connected, I simply opened my phones web browser to make sure I could access a data connection in the first place. And lo and behold, my tethering is working just fine!
So to put simply, what you should try is:
1) Connect your device via tethering (I used wifi, but usb should work too!).
2) Make sure you actually have a data connection! And then, open the web browser on your phone, and go to a web page (I just go to google )
3) Enjoy your tethering.
I hope this works for everyone, and not just me! XD
The last update from verizon fixed this issue.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 (Mini) with Jelly Bean 4.1.2. I recently bought iPad 4 (Wifi only) and decided to try to do some tethering with my phone. I entered the "Tethering and portable hotspots" submenu and paired up successfully with the iPad. However, I couldn't access the Internet with the iPad even though the connection to my S3 was okey. Everything just seemed to be loading and loading, and Chrome said something about DNS servers. I gave up and tried to Bluetooth-route. Again I was successful in connecting the two devices with the link symbol appearing in the upper left of the iPad's screen. Yet again the Internet did not work.
I should mention that I live in a country where there's no tethering regulation so I can just use the default tethering settings. I did think about if using Avast, power saving mode or anything other affected the tethering process, but after turning Avast and power saving mode off, nothing happened. I also double-checked that I could access Internet via my phone. I also double checked that I had my mobile data on.
There isn't any setting in S3's "Tethering and portable hotspots" submenu that I could try to change (I've tried tethering with and without a password). I can do something about hotspot Wifi-connection from the iPad (according to the manual):
Adjust the settings for connecting to a Wi-Fi network: Tap next to a network. You can set an HTTP proxy, define static network settings, turn on BootP, or renew the settings provided by a DHCP server.

However, I cannot do anything if I try to create a hotspot using Bluetooth.
I would appreciate help immensely!
On the tethering section, and since you only doing it for an ipad, go to configure the access point and tap advanced settings. Try changing the broadcast channels from auto to 10.
I work on a technical support desk and it seems that Ipads are very very fussy on lower channels, i am unable to test this as i don't own an Ipad but it may be worth a shot.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I have solved the issue. The trick was to add my provider's internet information (server, port) to iPad's settings. This is weird as with my old phone, Samsung Bada, I just had to create a Wifi hotspot with a few clicks and that's it.

I first created the Wifi hotspot connection between SG3Mini and the iPad. In SG3Mini, I entered Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names (APNs) -> *chose my provider's Internet/Wap settings* -> wrote down Proxy, Port, (User Name, Password)
Then in iPad, I entered the Wifi-settings, Tapped the > next to the SG3Mini's Hotspot connection and added the APN info in the HTTP Proxy settings. I originally tried to use the User Name and Password but it didn't work so I just used Proxy and Port. Then I tapped the "Renew" option.
After this, I could tether without problems.

I've been using this app for about 2 months now without any problems, up until about 2 weeks ago. Now if I'm in default LTE mode, my laptop and tablet can connect to the hotspot, but I can't open a webpage in Firefox on either device, it just times out. I've verified that Firefox on my phone can access them. Also, I can open a cmd prompt on the laptop and get successful pings on google.com, but it still times out on the laptop or tablet.
If I reboot the phone to be on CDMA/EVDO then everything works fine, just slower. I'm on Sprint. I sent an email to the developer, and he stated he didn't think it was a problem in the app itself but advised me to check the APN settings. I can't seem to locate them on this phone.
Anyone else having this problem, or have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Didn't change anything. Re-reading my original post, I realize I wasn't clear on a point:
I can ping google.com and get replies from a command prompt on my laptop when I'm attached to the wifi router and the phone is in LTE mode, but my web browser (firefox) will not display the google home page. If I select CDMA mode on the phone, then I can get to google from firefox.
Since I'm getting ping replies, I doubt DNS is the culprit. Seems like it's something with port 80. I'm starting to think Sprint did something to block the app on the LTE network.
Just to check, I reset my phone to factory default and re-installed the app. Same results.
Anyone else having problems with this while on LTE?
Thanks.

I contacted the developer Fabio, and he thinks I need to change some settings in the APN IPV4 protocol. Problem is, I can't seem to find where to change the settings on this phone. They should be in settings>connections>more networks>mobile networks, but the options are not on that screen. I'm really starting to regret getting this phone. I love the phone itself, but Sprint did a few things to "dumb down" the ROM that just plain piss me off. OK, I get they took out native tethering so they could sell that option. I don't like it, but at least it makes some kind of sense. They also took out the option in contacts to send a incoming call from a given contact straight to voicemail. That just makes no sense whatsoever. Also, I don't like there are no custom ROMs for this phone. If I could get this phone with a plain vanilla Android without all the Sprint mods, I'd be in heaven.
Anyway, does ANYONE have Wifi Tethering working on this phone (LPH-600) with Sprint and LTE?

How do you have your HAM2 setup for tethering? I use my MT2-L03 for tethering to my laptop all the time with WPA2 PSK security. You mention the 30 update?? Which model are you using? I have B126 firmware.
Also, what browser are you using? If you're using IE, try changing the LAN settings to "Automatically detect settings". I don't have any issues with Chrome or Firefox.

for a burned out component, or using a meter or O-scope to find a problem. Kind of hard to look or listen for a 1 or a 0
out of place LOL.
Give me an old Simpson 260 and a Tektronics dual trace scope and WATCH OUT! LOL.
My home wifi details are saved on my phone. For some reason when I come home from work my phone refuses to automatically connect. I have to manually connect every time. Is this some strange setting on the phone or 'power saving'?
Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it? It's unrooted KIW-L21, running 5.1.1.
I have the same problem.
What is strange is that this problem started about a week ago. The first two weeks, the 5x connected automatically, like all other devices that we have. The Honor 5x is the only device that has this problem.
Having exactly the same problem.
That is strange. I have not seen this moving between work and home wifi. Always connects.
It is the same with my KIW-L21. I attached a screenshot where the first wifi should connect automatically. Underneath the name of the wifi it says: "No internet connection possible, deactivated".
Then I need to connect manually. That will work fine but is not so practicable.
I have been having the same problem for just over a week, I got back from work today and it decided to connect automagically again. In trying to fix this I unchecked a box in advanced wifi options which said check for internet access. It didn't appear to work at the time but might be worth giving it a go.

Well no combination of settngs seemed to have fixed it so far. I'm going to try a static IP and see if that makes any difference.
If any of you have root, the wifi config files are located in: /data/misc/wifi/wpasuplicant.conf. You might find something interesting.
Static IP makes no difference. The phone is close to being returned right now. Massive shame as it's good other than this.

It will be sufficient to forget the network and to unite with the WPS option for me it helped! Check and let know!

I have the same problem.
I have found out that with the option "check for internet access" off (under Settings -> Wifi -> Menu -> Advanced Settings) it still won't work, but it will automatically connect to Wifi when the screen is turned off and on again. At least it's quicker than having to connect manually, but still not a satisfying solution.
My model number is also KIW-L21.
UPDATE: Removing the home network and saving it again (with the exact same settings as before) apparently solve the issue. Now it is autoconnecting when the toggle is switched to on.

Google Connectivity Services is not compatible with Honor 5X (model number KIW-L21). It cannot be downloaded from the Google Play.

I really can't understand why there are apps compatible with Honor 5X in the United States (KIW-L24) and not compatible with the same device in Europe (KIW-L21). As far as I know, the main difference is the price (more expensive in Europe, around 268$).
Same Wifi Issues

I had the exact same issue. This happened on multiple wifi networks. Would not automatically connect to wifi, showed disabled, I would manually hit connect again. Several times a day it would just disco. I rooted and tried the 140 update, same thing. When I installed the CM12 ROM it didn't even detect my wireless network!! Weird. I changed the channel on my home wifi and it immediately saw the network. Something with the wifi channel, security, and EMUI?? Working great now though for five days.
