any chance to recover a hardbricked bootloop? - Huawei Y6 Questions & Answers

I was stupid, and wiped the whole OS through twrp, thinking to install a custom rom, which didn't install... since I was an idiot and didn't do a nandroid backup beforehand, I had nothing to recover from, other than the stock one, which only has separate files and a bundled update.app... except when I went to fastboot to flash the files, all of them were suddenly "not a boot image" for some reason (including the boot image, which when patched with magisk, installed just fine)... I don't remember if it was before or after that, when I installed the stock recovery to use the stock update functions...forgetting that people even specifically warned not to do that...
so is the phone only good for spare parts now, or is there any possible way to resurrect it? I highly doubt that there's anyone who's such an expert, but y'know, asking just in case? (I don't mind if I have to do some surgery on it, and I do have a working phone, so it's just a minor bummer)

[Q] How can I tell if I'm properly partitioned?

I tried to install a custom boot animation and wound up having to use CWM recovery to get out of weird looping behavior. I'm not sure exactly what the restore function wipes (for instance, my Vegan ROM was still installed).
Since that episode I've been seeing more Forced Closures than before. I wonder if I need to repartition again. What values should I see if am or am not partitioned 2048/0 and where would I look for those? Thanks.
Surely someone can tell me what to look for as an indicator.
I promise to stop calling you "Shirley."
Rick,
I don't think it's personal -- there just is not a place you can look and see your
partitioning.
If you were boot looping, used CWM to stop it, repartitioned 2048/0 and are running
smoothly now I wouldn't worry about it.

EDIT: On further thought, I think if I were having glitches (like the FCs), I would
reflash back to stock, install CWM and clean up and reset as needed, and make
darn sure everything was working and exactly right -- and then go my way from
there. But that's just the way I work.
Thanks, Rev.
Thing is, I did not repartition (or, rather, re-repartition) after recovery. Have I necessarily reverted, due to CWM recovery, to the unreliable stock partition (bearing in mind that the device wasn't totally wiped; the Vegan ROM was still in place)?
EDIT: I understand that reflashing to stock and starting over will address any issue. I'm just trying to learn.
Rick,
If you boot into recovery using power/volume + and you get CWM you are still in
ClockWorkMod and have not reverted to stock recovery.
I understand you are trying to learn. I just don't like "flaky" anything so I "make sure"!

[Q] Formatted

So I'm having some huge difficulties here,
My GS2 was stuck at it's boot screen after my friend apparently bullsh... with it, aaaand he admitted he wiped the whole thing with recovery mode.
That means system, data, SD Card, everything....
Now I can't recover it with Kies, I can't seem to get it to work in any way.
Would anyone here be able to tell me how to fix this?
I have considered doing it with Odin, but I don't want to risk messing it up even more than it already is.
Edit: I'm also doubting if it would even matter, doesn't Odin just change the firmware? I'd still miss the enite software package, right?
Thanks in advance!
if the system is formated from the recovery, phone will not boot, because now your phone is without a ROM, if this case is true you have already lost entire pack of softwares...if you have not made a backup you cant recover that.
get download mod and flash a stock official ROM from ODIN
nothing to worry zacq8 said right,i on purposely had done this....jus use odin ,go in download mode, and flash stock rom ..thts it simple..and do read how to flash if ya don kno......cheeeeerz

[Q] System Files missing, can't relock bootloader

I did something stupid(because frankly i have no idea what some of the things in the cwm mod do)
I'm not sure exactly what triggered this but I read somewhere that i should format my system then i did a data/cache wipe and every single file on my phone disappeared so now i can't even relock the bootloader to flash an ruu file because whatever thing that was on the phone to enable that also got wiped. I've tried flashing other roms to get the files back but obviously that isn't going to work. Can anyone help me out? I'm freaking out and I don't want to have to buy a new phone just because I messed up
I'm still not exactly sure what the problem was but it seems that my phone was messing up because cwm was crashing when attempting to install CleanRom 6.0 from the sd card. And for whatever reason, the third time i attempted to install this rom, it worked and my phone seems to be working fine.

[Q] Flash error - no backup

Hello,
I was able to root my SGSII GT-I9100T using Clockworkmod. I then proceeded to flash Android KitKat but during that procedure, my phone displayed an error with the emmc (or something like that) and the installation was aborted. I can get onto the Recovery screen but I can't get any further, i.e. I can't get to my apps, messages etc.
I do not have a backup of prior to the error in the flash. The top of the screen I am able to see says: CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.2-Siyah. I have wiped my data and cache with no luck. Everytime I reboot, it goes back to the same screen.
Also, I am with Vodafone Australia, and they do not appear to have a downloadable stock ROM.
I want to get my phone back to prior to rooting, obviously with the default settings (but this doesn't matter).
What should I do? Am I able to repair it?
Yes, you're able to repair it easily. If you don't have any backup, doing a wipe from recovery (which can sometimes fix this) isn't an option for you because obviously you'll lose data if you wipe. I'm also thinking perhaps you've flashed the wrong version of Siyah; you could always re-read (or read) the Siyah threads on here to make doubly sure you've flashed the correct build for your Android version (I don't remember which is which, been ages since I've used Siyah), and if it is a case of you having flashed the wrong build, flashing the right build might well solve your problem & give you a rooted phone. You could also find the PhilZ thread on here, read it, and flash that which should also help you to achieve that aim.
But...if you really want to go back to where you were before you started...
Download a stock rom for Voda AU from Samfirmware (Doesn't matter which one, up to you. You'll need to sign up in order to do so), and flash it following the instructions in the thread titled 'Flash Stock firmware/ROM...' stickied near the top of Q&A.
If you're unable to get a successful Odin flash/or it fails for whatever reason, find Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' guide stickied in the General section & try the stuff in that thread, which should enable you to get through any issues & get a successful Odin flash which will take your phone back to the state it was in before you attempted to root it.
Normally flashing a one part stock rom like this won't involve data loss, but there are never any water-tight guarantees.
Edit - For future reference, if you ever decide to mod your phone even slightly, always back everything up before you do anything. Don't be like the 95% of people on here who do this & then end up in the **** because they didn't back stuff up. The reality is, if you're going to mod, stuff goes wrong eventually for everyone (as you've just found out).
Thank you, I will attempt to flash a stock from that website.
Just to clarify, I first installed CWM (not the Siyah version), and that was working fine. I was able to boot and do whatever. I then proceeded to flash an Android KitKat ROM but this resulted in an error. I then flashed Siyah (which may have made it worse) because from what I read at the time, it could have fixed my problem. So it must have been from the ROM, whether it be my phone being not compatible with it etc., rather than the wrong version of Siyah (although, as I said before, it could have made it worse).
Yep, rom incompatibility. Siyah stopped being developed with ICS, so won't work with KK roms; kernels need to be compatible with the Android version of the rom in question.
Doing what you did is no drama usually, worst case result is normally what happened to you I.E bootloop which won't go away without going back to stock, unless you get a bad flash. It's actually a good learning experience, because now you'll know how to recover if you flash stuff in future
I managed to flash the stock version and thankfully, my phone is back to 'normal'. Luckily I always had intentions on resetting it to factory settings. Indeed it has been a good learning experience :good: Thanks for your help, MistahBungle.
No worries. Glad you got it sorted

[Q] Custom Recovery on an S4 That Won't Boot

Hi all,
I'm trying to help someone fix their S4 that won't boot past the Verizon logo. I had rooted the phone probably a year and half ago but I never put a custom recovery or rom on the phone, as they mostly wanted to be able to use adblock, greenify, etc. The phone has been degrading slowly, lots of "SD card has been removed" errors, and now it simply won't boot past the Verizon logo. I have tried to boot into the stock recovery and clear cache with no luck. I don't want to wipe data if I can avoid it for now.
I was wondering if someone could point me to the proper CWM or TeamWin file and the best way to install it. I'm not sure if a custom recovery will even help me get it booted at this point but I figure I might have a little more luck over using the stock recovery. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
Do you know what the phone's baseband is? Chances are it's not MDK so that means to CWM, TWRP, etc. Take out the battery, put it back in and then boot to download mode then try and flash a new tar in Odin.
I don't unfortunately. I rooted it about 1.5-2 years ago. I don't remember quite well but I don't think it's been updated since, I think I froze the update notification whenever that started popping up.
Flashing it in Odin will erase all data, correct? I don't know if I have another choice at this point, just curious.
Sounds like you need to odin the stock tar. Reroot and proceede from there. Yes it will wipe user data.
