Greetings everyone, recently my OPPO A72 fell in some Water and even though the phone still practically works, sometimes i struggle to see whats going on in the screen because of the water damage, and worst of all is, i cannot use the touch screen, making it impossible for me to backup my data before getting the screen replaced, even though USB Debugging IS enabled. I've heard that i could use ADB to backup my data or control my phone through my computer, but i get an error message on the CMD window, similar to : Device unauthorized whenever i try to activate ADB . Are there any workarounds you could recommend me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS: Connecting the mouse to my phone using an OTG adapter also doesn't seem to work, as them mouse simply refused to power on (maybe because im connecting it through a tiny "micro-USB to micro USB-C adapter?)

Hi,
i have a NT , when i plug in the cable to my pc it shows he usual USB mode.
is there anyway to have it in usb mode but be able to use the tablet at the same time ? in other words get rid of the damn pop up and let me use it while its in usb and charging mode ?
thanks
you could try disabling automount... maybe the USB window is triggered when the SD is mounted for computer use.
That is absolutely correct. If you don't know where to find automount, it is accessible through the nt hidden settings app.
ive also been seeing a weird issue , ive done that in the past , but when my tablet is connected to power / computer usb cable to any power source my touch screen is funky , when im on the lock screen i can do stuff , i can pull the bar over to almost get it to unlock but when and if it does its funky , i just kicked it out off of auto mount and i have what i want except touch screen is not actually working , if i unplug it from the cable the screen works ,
any ideas ?
You could also try "ejecting" the device. That might put it in charge state and allow you to continue using the device.

I haven't noticed the "funky" screen on my NT, but have experienced it on smartphones in the past and it was associated with a noisy charger. Try using different chargers and see if the problem gets better or worse.
ah yes you have a valid point i have two NT's one for me and one for my gf hers blew a charger and we had to have B&N replace the usb port receptacle already , had it less than three weeks. I will try it with her usb cable and see what i get as they changed the whole assembly and if it does not occur with her new cable i will get them to exchange it before the 1st ..
Hi guys,
The archos addon 3g usb stick doesnt activate when switched on through the control panel? It will only activate if I reboot the tablet but nothing happens when using the quick access settings (control) panel or the regular settings panel. Major drag!
Is it a bug or is there anything I can do about it?
Cheers,
Rick
I'm having the same issue sometimes, sometimes it works.
What might be happening is port itself going bad as Archos seems to have used a flimsy ribbon cable on the 3G port. Since the port can actually move in and out it stresses the ribbon cable and breaks the data traces in it.
See this post over on the Archos Fans website. It has pictures in it showing the ribbon cable in question. It seems the power traces can still deliver power but the data traces are smaller and pretty much get destroyed.
So the port will get power, but not able to send data essentially.

I had this once and sent my 80G9 to Archos to get it repaired. A solution is not to slide the stick out, so the cable is not stressed to much. On the new one I sometimes have the problem that it takes a while to connect to the 3G stick or I need to reboot. But it depends on the firmware aswell.

The internal cable connection is one issue... the hardware design itself and the driver/software is another.
Please have a look at dmesg output if the 3G stick refuses to connect.
There seems to be some trouble to detect devices on the host port in general after a while. A reboot generally fixes these issues.
Might be something with the USB PHY not getting resetted properly or other things after sending the device to sleep...
Anyway as long as the stick works after reboot it's more or less acceptable for me.
Have fun!

I checked the dmsg log after connecting and switching the port on & off. This produces various errors such as 'cannot enumerate device' and 'write error on temp directory' and bunch of other problems which might or might not have anything to do with the issue concerning the secondary cpu boot. It seems the driver had been implemented poorly. The only thing that works consistently is rebooting the device but as soon as it's gone to sleep for a short period, it cannot activate the 3gstick anymore. Please note this is the original Archos 3G stick which cost me an extra 65euro's on top of the 300euro's I spent on the G9....
Help!
My first topic here ever.
My J5 (2016) fell dramatically today, and the screen is black now. I need, need, need to save all the photos, videos and memory notes related to my kids. But when I connect the J5 to the computer - the computer does recognize it, but when I open the J5 folder - it's absolutely empty. USB debugging is off Also, I have a pin code when turning on the phone plus I need to draw a special sign to log in when it's in the stand-by mode....
What to do, please?
If your screen is black due to crack on the display, then there is no software problem I think. So don't worry, all of your data will be saved in your device, until you manually delete data or reset your device.
There is no way to enable USB Debugging without going to the device's Setting. So, there is no other way except replacing the Touch & Display panel with a new one.
***If something or some portions are visible on the screen, then try to access the Setting>Developer's Option>USB Debugging & enable it. If the Touch Digitiser is not working, then you can use a USB mouse instead of the Digitiser.
And if your screen is completely black, then it's impossible to do without changing the panel.
I am not sure if it's only the screen. But when I put the J5 on and off, it is vibrating, so I guess that the software is at least partly ok...
Do you have an SD Card in the phone? If you do, you could be able to recover some of the media that you saved, depending on if you stored it on the SD Card. You'll need a microSD Card Adapter if you want to connect it to your PC, though.
Since your phone has a PIN lock, you won't be able to connect it via USB to your PC, unless you can unlock it. You'll need a replacement screen to be able to use your phone again. They usually cost around £30-40 from my experience.

I think that's because they are buying the parts as well as replacing the screen so they might charge extra. Ask them if you could bring in your own replacement LCD or get them to buy one from eBay for use on replacing your screen.
DIY is much cheaper but requires a lot more handwork. If you search on eBay, 'SM-J510FN - Replacement LCD', it should come up with some replacement LCDs. You can search YouTube for a tutorial on how to replace it.
use OTG cable and a keyboard to navigate TO usb debugging and enable it. but you'll need a reference to navigate.
I picked up a used A10e from the Metro by T-mob version (SM-102U).
Phone has been reset and in general works fine and is unlocked from the carrier. I swapped in a Verison sim and had no problems connecting to the different network. My issue is when I try to connect to the PC. I get a "Check your Charger Connection" pop-up and the PC doesn't recognize that anything is connected. Naturally ADB Devices does not find the phone.
Dev options are opened and I've tried with USB Debugging on and off.
I swapped in a known good charging port and port-to-main connector ribbon and the same thing happens.
I've tried connecting while in safe mode and same thing.
If I connect directly to a wall outlet no message and the phone charges at full USB-C speed.
I have a second A10E and the same PC recognizes that one just fine (where I got the working port & ribbon from to verify its not a simple hardware problem) so my drivers are good etc. Given the above and that the phone is in very good shape otherwise I don't think it's a hardware thing.
Would there be some software from Metro that would prevent the phone from connecting to PC? If so what can I do about it without rooting this guy? (I've spoken with Metro and they advised the phone is unlocked from everything on their end and they have nothing that would prevent connecting to PC...)
My intent is to get the junk cleaned off with ADB PM Uninstalls and get this phone in service asap.
All helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
(as a follow up here, I've learned you can wirelessly connect your PC to the phone with ADB Connect however when I try that I get a response that the machine has actively refused the connection and does not give me an option on the phone to grant permission)
Hi All,
I'm trying to resolve an issue with a Mate 20 pro which I hope doesn't end up hardware related on the main pcb.
The phone will no longer charge or communicate via the USB port. Luckily it will still charge using the wireless pad.
Ill start by listing the things I have tried to resolve the issue and then ask if anyone has any other suggestions -
Performed full factory reset/cache data clear
Checked and cleaned charging port
Tried other genuine cables, chargers and PC's
operated in safe mode
tried different usb settings in developer mode and project mode (*#2846579#*#*)
Ran the diagnostics in the Hcare app - which just tells me to contact for service and repair on the charging/usb test
replaced the USB-C ribbon assembly with a genuine replacement
Measured 5v via test points on the main PCB when the cable is connected
Soft boot mode connects to the PC and opens up hsuite, but shows as not connected
Soft boot mode will also show a device id in the Huawei service/download tool
Checked for any obvious damage to internal components
The phone warranty sadly ran out on Sunday.
I did contact Huawei last week, but without an original proof of purchase, they would not repair the phone foc.
This is why I made the decision to remove the back.
I have spent a long time looking for answers on this site and various repair methods on the internet, but nothing has come up.
My remaining thoughts were to consider downgrading the firmware from 10.1 to either 9 or 10 using either the SD card or purchase a USB otg to try?
I may try to check the continuity on the ribbon cable I removed just to double check I haven't ended up with two dodgy USB-C ribbons.
Can anyone tell me why the phone will still connect in soft boot mode, but not when booted up normal?
Current firmware is 10.1.0.328(C432E8R1P5)
A few final things to mention as its my first post -
I did purchase the phone with this fault and don't know the full history of the phone, which is why I wondered if the fault occurred following an OTA update.
If I cant get the port to work, Im happy to continue using it in its current state till I get bored and buy another phone with slight imperfections.
I am an electrical engineer (Drive technology) with previous experience of basic repair techniques on mobile phones and precision repair of other electronics, but I don't claim to have any in depth knowledge in repairing mobile phones, just a general hobby interest.
I just didn't want to portray an image of someone blinding jamming tools into a piece of electronics.
I'm happy to take any positive criticism, if it helps to resolve my query.
Thanks,
Phil
