Enabling dual sim support on LG g8x? - LG G8X ThinQ Questions & Answers

Bought the phone from costco Canada and as you all know the phones sold in Canada has dual sim disabled. Since this phone comes with dual sim support everywhere else around the globe, thus i wonder what hacks would needed to enble it? Thank you

I just bought one from Amazon and got the same unpleasant surprise. It has a tray for 2 SIMS, but only 1 is active... anyone?

I've got a Sprint version today and the second slot is disabled too, there is no info about this problem at all

[Q] 3G and 4G versions of the 920?

According to the sales assistant in my local Phones4U shop, there are 2 different versions of the 920, one that won't and can never work on 4G and one that will.
Does anyone know if this is true? I assumed it was the device that was 4G capable, full stop. If you have a 4G network/SIM then you put it in and it works, possibly requiring some change in config settings, but surely there isn't a 3G only version of the device.
They wouldn't sell me one SIM free as they only had enough stock for new contracts apparently and it was only available in white so far. Plus, this is where she then claimed that I had to buy the EE contract version in order to get a 4G capable device, and my theory of buying a SIM free device to use with my SIM on the 3 network for now, with a view to gaining 4G once 3 brought theirs online in my area.
Appreciate any comments from someone who knows what is true. I really don't (want to) believe what the sales assistant has told me. It seems daft.
cheers,
Wes
All of them are capable of LTE, but there are variations in the bands, so it is possible that you could get one that wouldn't work 3's LTE once it is deployed, but that is very unlikely if you purchase a UK version of the device as I'm fairly certain OFCOM didn't sell too many bands for LTE.
I got told the same thing at P4U
I was told that my Black 920 EE branded wouldn't work on 4G but if you look on the box all the LTE bands are listed... turned the phone on and found a option that allows 4g connection... i will find out in a few days once my EE 4G sim turns up.
called up the local EE shop who did me a black 920 for £399 and gave me a free set of WESC headphones and a free wireless charging plate, there and then. Oh, and i also had to pay £10 top up for a PAYG SIM that came with it as this was a deal for buying the phone as PAYG. It accepts EE, Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin SIMs in the UK so i can just put my existing Orange SIM in. Absolute bargain i thought

Dual sim adapter question

Hi everyone!
I noticed a large selection of dual or triple sim card adapter out there allowing us to have more than one sim installed in our phones at a time.
Just had a quick question if anyone has used them.
Do both slots allow LTE support? Or just the main slots?
I travel from Canada to USA and would love to find a sim option that allows me to switch between Sims when I cross the border, but I'd like to make sure LTE and all features work on both Sims, not just the main one.
Thanks for your advice!
Hi, I think that only the SIM that is into the phone takes internet, the others only make calls, you cannot use them for internet.
Cheers

Hi.
I bought myself no-brand adapter on amazon.
TL;DR version? My adapter allows LTE only on "first" sim. Second one is limited to HSDPA speeds.

No. Both sim chips are fully functional on my unit, only with limitation in form of LTE being present on main slot. Also, only one sim chip is active at any given time - that was exactly what I needed, so I don't mind rebooting my phone when I switch carriers. For active dual sim support a phone with build in dual slots for SIM is needed.

[Q] No sim card support in US?

Ive looked all over my area and found that almost no sim car carriers support this phone? I tryed checking the compatibility of almost every carrier and they say the moto e 2015 isnt compatible? I was told straight talk, att and total wireless would work with it? This is my first unlocked phone ive bought and im so confused. I bought the gsm Lte version btw.
Can someone help me out? What all kinds of sim cards work with the moto e 2015 in the US? Any good cheap plans?
(also tmobile works but there is absolutely no coverage ne where in my area.)
Have you visited an AT&T store? I'm using one of their sim cards in my LTE version and it works fine.
I can confirm these work:
Cricket wireless BYOD SIM
StraightTalk (AT&T) SIM
As long as its unlocked, you should be able to use any GSM provider.

Unlocking Verizon LG G6

Are those places (sites) that you pay to unlock your phone legit? Is it possible to unlock the Verizon version of the G6 so I can use it on T-Mobile or does the Verizon G6 not have the proper bands support?

Verizon doesn't lock their LTE phones. You should be able to drop a SIM card in it and have it work.
I don't know about all the LTE bands though.
I'm on Verizon. Seems everyone I had would work on most carriers out of the box. I had S7 Edge (Verizon) worked on a few different prepaid Sims. I also added a new phone for me and put a dif sim in my old LG Stylus and sent to my son in Boise. And put old sim in my LG G6 and it worked (cause I needed old number in new phone and new SIM went in older phone.
Hopefully that made since haha.
Just remember that the phone/SIM must be in good standing or you will have problems sometimes when activating on major companies. Unless its prepaid SIM you can pop a new one in that's already activated.

I'll have a chance to buy new Verizon LG G6 for cheap, but I'm on AT&T network. Just want to confirm before pull the trigger, do I need a Verizon SIM to activate the phone first then swap with AT&T SIM, or just put in the AT&T SIM would be fine? Thanks in advance!
Put the att sim in, during setup connect to WiFi. After setup input apn settings. Restart the phone. The phone may occasionally inform you that the inserted sim is not a VZW sim. I think that will go away after you disable all the VZW apps.
I have tried different sims but does not recognize the sim. Only recognizes verizon sim. I'm not a verizon customer and where I am at we don't have verzion.
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Update: Working now. Sim card readers were bent.

Have something change in the Mobile Networks in USA?

Long story short...
I have alway had my personal pones used in Mexico and bought in USA (ebay) I have neve had any issue as far as the phones are GSM unlocked, my last phone was the LG G7, new open box from eBay, I use the phone in Mexico without any problem as well as I use it here in Houston, 4G data, calls, SMS etc..
I arrive 3 days ago to spend time with family and I got a preowned Verizon LG V60 GSM unlocked, as soon as I put my SIM card from ATT Mexico it says Service Disabled and the Network Options are greyed with no option to change anything, I already Crossflash to the US Cellular ROM and still have the same problem, I know the phone is unlocked cause I put a SIM from Telcel and it get signal and Roaming and also detect the networks, my question is, have something changed with the service providers here that blocks the SIM from other countryes?
The only think that I notice is that I have a cheap Samsung A13 from my work In mexico, bought in Mexico and If i put the SIM card there I notice a icon of VoLTE in the signal bar, is that the LG V60 does not support VoLTE?

VOLTE is usually softwarw specific and sim card specific. a tmobile v60 will get you volte on tmobile yes but other operators on tmobile network mabey not. Basically buy the right V60 to go with your sim card and if you carrier operates on tmobile network then get tmobile v60 etc and so forth.
