i follow all the steps. i'm asked if i want to pair and i get a popup saying connection failed due to incorrect pin. anyone have any luck with this? i removed the battery from grip and restarted my phone and same result. any help appreciated. oh, i also installed the Sony firmware update on the phone.
I can't even get the grip to show up on the phone to pair ... what did you do? Instructions say hold down photo + zoom T which I did, the red light flashes for a few seconds then goes off.
you have to be in the photo app and you go to menu and then scroll down to bt remote. then you tap on connect new bt remote. if you hold those 2 buttons on the grip for long enough you’ll get the pairing request on the phone. mine fails every time. also you can use video pro app to pair.
i wonder if my problem is that i previously used this grip with a camera. maybe a virgen grip would work.
i ended up using my amazon store credit to buy a new grip. i was able to pair the new grip immediately. so, its either the newer grip has different firmware than the one i bought a few years ago or the fact that i hadn't previously paired to another camera.

yesterday I decided against my better judgement to try and take apart my x10 to see if I could get to the speakers, it sounded distorted during phone calls when the volume was all the way up. I used the dissasembly guide here: http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/05/10/xperia-x10-disassembly-guide/
however once, i started reading the guide, i realized I had to basically gut the entire phone to get to the main call speaker, so i put it back together. all i did was take out the screws, removed the lower support and used a credit card to pry between the covers and worked my way down. thats as far as i got, I had the back cover off and then I reassembled after reconsideration. however, the phone didn't work when i turned it back on. I mean, it works and I can see the backlighting on the screen but no logo or anything. I know it's actually booting into android because I can unlock the phone by memory and proper finger placement without even having the display working. I hear the "click" when it unlocks my phone and the volume/updown beeps. i've even heard my personal set notification tone go off a couple times. however, aside from the screen not working (besides backlighting), it wont respond to a phone call or chime when you send it a text message. If i use a different phone to call mine, it rings several times until you leave a voice message like normal. so, its not acting like its off. so again, I know it's actually booting into android.
after further inspection I realized that there is a ribbon cable on the bottom right hand side (battery side up) particularly close to where the covers snap together. I don't know if I did it with the credit card swipe or the covers weren't aligned well when I snapped it back together but I can see one little trace with a magnifying glass and a flashlight where it was "nicked" or scored. one teeny tiny little thing and my phone is inop.... does anyone have any suggestions? maybe like where I can get that ribbon cable? I'd start over with a new phone but the ebay prices are ridiculous. this use to be an ATT free upgrade phone and now its discontinued. I really doubt you can fix a ribbon cable... im feeling pretty helpless here.
I think you should send to shop to get professional repair before it getting worse.
Hey guys!
I was just wondering how people felt about the N10 after having been using it for a few months.
I bought mine the day it was available and have used it a lot since, draining the battery almost every day.
Six months later (more or less), the hardware is showing some wear, and I'm wondering how it is for everyone.
First, the micro USB port doesn't feel as snappy as it used to, and the port doesn't click anymore when I plug it in. I know it's normal wear, and I bought a pogo cable last week because I want to keep using it as much as I can. Also, the power button is also starting to feel a bit loose.
The volume rocker still feels great though, and so does the screen. I guess what I'm the most worried about is the power button, I'm just scared of wearing it down so much that it ends up being unable to register the presses. The screen is also still as bright and clear, absolutely no complaint, still no lightbleed. I've never used the micro HDMI port, so it still most likely feels as new.

Although I haven't had my N10 long enough to comment, I already taken some precautions to reduce the number of times I have to use the physical power button.
1) I both reboot and power off using the notification panel and features available in a custom ROM
2) Use TWRP recovery which allows touch interactions
3) I use the normal timeout to shutoff the screen but also use "Screen Control" to automatically turn the screen on when I pick up the N10. It works in conjunction with the accelerometer.
Right now I really only use the physical volume buttons and will likely start using some gesture controls or something provided by a custom ROM. See my signature for the custom ROM/Kernel I am using although many have these same features.
Also getting a smart case with the auto on/off feature really helps minimize the use of the power button.

I use the volume rockers to turn on the device, screen Off application to turn it off

Long version: Not all MicroUSB cables snap the same. My two Samsung cables have moderate snap. The cord I usually use for charging my phone has less snap but a firm fit. Another generic cord was so firm that I threw it out because I was worried about damaging plugs with regular use. I've also run across a couple cables that were so sloppy the connection was intermittent. I've also had another Samsung cable that apparently broke on the mini end. No snap and all slop. But the socket in the device was fine. Switched cables and it never gave me any trouble. The feel of the connection varies greatly depending on the way the cable is constructed and there seems to be little consistency between manufacturers.
Short version: The reduced snap could be due to using a different cable.
FWIW, I bought one of the pogo adapters when the first batch showed up on ebay. I use an IPAD-ST stand I got off Amazon, lock the rotation, and set the Nexus 10 upside-down with the pogo connector on top. Works fine. That way I'm not constantly plugging and unplugging the USB cable. I haven't had trouble with it (or any connector) but there's no point in wearing out the USB port with all that use. Haven't had any trouble with the buttons, either, though they don't feel very substantial. Like the buttons on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, they're very easy to press. Too easy. I have to be careful how I pick up or hold my Samsung devices. A portable device that can be held on any edge should have physical buttons that require deliberate activation. Like the volume buttons on my Touch Pro 2 phone. The amount of pressure generated by picking up or holding that phone never caused an unintentional button press. Same with the buttons along the bottom. Not that they're difficult to feel or use. They just require a deliberate push.
As for durability, the buttons on my Galaxy Nexus still work fine and I got my phone on release day. I ordered the Nexus 10 on release day and the buttons still work and feel the same as they did when I opened the box. No creaks or faults in the case of the devices. No scratches (or screen protector) on the display, no marks on the back. It's been pretty solid. But, for me, it's a transitional device. It'll go in the closet when I can get a tablet with a 2560x1600 (or close) OLED display. I figure that'll happen in two or three years. If the Nexus 10 lasts that long, I'll be content.
I wouldn't know. Mine has been with Samsung for going on two months now.
I really wish I knew what it'd be like after the 3 months of use I SHOULD have had on it...
EDIT: Thanks for link to screen control.
Now i got myself a P9000 Helio arround 2 months ago, and since then i noticed some wierd stuff, and was wondering if anyone knows how to fix/whats going on.
Charging
After i plug it in any charger, after a few it shows the Elephone logo and does something that looks like a reboot, but its not a reboot, after it doesnt ask for PIN it just back at lockscreen.
This is quite annoying when you use it in your car, for speedtraps/music apps ect, it all shuts down, and it doesnt only do this once, does it more than 1 time, while pluged into the charger.
Both on wireless chargepad and cable charge.
Anyone know how to fix/remove this ?
Reinventing the wheel
For some really odd reason i noticed the messenger app, and the call app, aint the ones from Google, even tho they share the same icon and allmost the same setup, only reason i noticed it was due to the circle in rightside bot, wasnt there, where you make a new SMS.
So i started looking into it and then allso saw the call app was differnt.
Anyone know the reason to this?
Screenprotector
Yes everyone knows about this one, the original that comes with phone, is liftet in the edges by the allso original silicone cover, and quite quickly it looks like crap, doesnt stick in many places.
So i ordered a new one, unoriginal, and to my suprice, it was that tiny ince smaller than the original, and didnt get lifted , well my happyness was shortlived cuz after a few weeks, it allso choose not to stick arround the side where the volumerocker is
Does there exist a screenprotecter that can actualy stick to this phone ?
Silicone Cover
Well im not 100% sure about this one, but sometimes i find my phone turned all the way down to vibrate only, and not having use it, i suspect the silicone cover to be the suspect but im not quite sure.
Connecting it to Win10
The struggle, when i first plug it in, i can see and access it while it look for drivers, when it find the drivers, i can no longer access the phone or the SD card on the phone
Tried allmost all fixes, still no luck
Fingerprint Scanner
Anyone got it to work, ive simply gave up on it, and hated it vibrating everytime it reached into my pocket and scraped the scanner.
Overall im happy with the phone, but i dont quite understand why they have to try to reinvent it, its a cheap nice chineses phone, it doesnt need all the apps like Samsung and the other makes have, you cant get rid of, so im quite puzzled why they even bother, and not just use a base Cryo Mod
Hello.
For the reboot while charging problem, try this (copy pasted from another forum)
"try to disable the optiion -automatically backup- in setting, i think it could be the solution"
Btw, are you on the stock ROM?

Hey, and thanks for that advice, i will try that and see if it removed that
Yes i am still on stock ROM for the moment, only reason i didnt update it to 7.0 was due to them rolling out 7.0 this month they saied, and the fact than i still cant get it to communicate with my Win10
The vibrate setting is due to pushing the button on the left side in for a while. To revert back to full volume you need to push it in again. It sometimes does it automatically with the silicone cover on.
OK. So I'm sure as this tab gets out there more and more, there will be rumblings and grumblings with this generally awesome device. I've had mine (SHT-AL09) for three weeks here in the U.S. and while overall I am very happy, nothing is above some criticism and there are some things I could use some help with.
I've already mentioned in another thread having issues with the position of the volume rocker and power button as well as the overall shape. This device is not boxxy like the X2 I'm replacing and it takes some getting used to.
With this, I am deathly afraid of dropping it because of the shape. I did buy a folio wallet; but ultimately, I want a semi stiff gel case to absorb some shock. I have ordered one from China; but it looks like it could take up to 6 weeks to get it here in the US. So, I can use any advice or links for a gel case for this tab in the US. Also any recommendations for a quality gel case is likewise desired.
Secondly, this tab annoyingly begins playing music ANY TIME it connects to a blue tooth device (not sure if this is Huawei or Android.) This is real annoying when I get into my car first thing in the morning and I am met with Ronnie James Dio blaring at me before I've had my coffee. Anyone know how I can stop this from happening? My sanity demands it (BTW, deleting RJD from my library is not an option.)
Otherwise, I'm loving this tab and totally psyched to have a giant screen with LTE capability and a dialer!! Hopefully, this will set a trend and show the world we are a market best not ignored.
I had been having trouble getting Aquamail to activate the LED indicator on new messages. Supposedly, Huawei is known to make it hard for non-stock apps to activate the LED. However, in this case I eventually realized that the issue was that the LED didn't support the light blue color that was set by default in Aquamail. I changed it to red and new e-mails now trigger the LED.
I have noticed that when I adjust screen brightness via a 3rd party app - i.e. HD Widgets or Setting Profiles Lite - the screen brightness reverts to something different after I turn the screen off and back on again. This might not turn out to be an annoyance, as I kind of like the way auto brightness works on this device.
Is this thing supposed to be VOLTE capable? If so, I imagine it can be enabled via the build.prop file. I don't get VOLTE, nothing I care about too much but it would be nice.
I'd love to be able to customize the appearance/structure of the notification bar and quick settings. I used 'Color Status Bar' for this on my Sony Z3TC and it worked really well. It doesn't seem to work with Oreo.
What opens up automatically to play music when you connect a bluetooth device? That has gotta be an easy problem to solve. Also, I think it has to do with your car stereo more than anything else.
Hey, it's the stock music player. I tried changing the default music player but the stock one still starts playing every time I connect to my car radio. I heard there is a third party app to address this but I'd prefer to stay within the stock system if possible.
What I really find annoying is the bug with keyboard attached: Brightness Controll pops up randomly, interrupting my typing ... really annoying ...
(M5 Pro, Germany)
There are some differences between emui 8 on the M5 and emui 8 on the Mate SE. Didn't expect that. Not pleased about it, as they are things that get used frequently. An AOSP rom would change that of course.
I didn't find the sharp edges very comfortable when typing. Found a soft tpu case that makes things a lot better. Not a fan that the main camera sticks out a bit which seems like it would get damaged when putting the tablet down on a hard surface. Again, the case helped with that.
Didn't like that the navbar was eating up screen space but found an option to use the finger print scanner as the nav bar, which I prefer after getting used to it.
Overall I'm enjoying the tablet, love the display.
Okay, since we're airing grievances
I think the design of their hardware for phones is awesome, works perfectly. I don't think the same design translates to tablets. Tablets are held and used differently than phones, thus need an appropriate sized bezel, weight etc.
Just my .02

I generally agree - but really the only thing I would change on the 8.4 version is the placement of the fingerprint sensor, which is too easy to press on accident when holding the tablet in landscape orientation and typing or what not. It should be nearly to the far right of the tab's bottom area, not dead center.
And really, this would be obvious to any ux designer testing the product, the problem is there is too much emphasis on blindly copying Apple and Samsung. Apple is a cult and Samsung makes extremely high quality hardware that isn't always user friendly.
My two issues right now is that 3rd Party Music apps don't show the album cover and stuff on the lockscreen. And that my device vibrates like twice after rebooting it.
Couldn't find a workaround so far
Here's a minor annoyance - try sending a text message to a number without typing a '1' before the number...you'll get an error message: '(555) 555-5555' is not a valid recipient.' Instead, you have to type out 1-555-555-5555.
Just checkng in. Brought this up when I started the thread, but has anyone found a way to stop the stock music player from starting up every time the tab is connected to any bluetooth audio device?

Music doesn't start playing automatically for me when I connect bluetooth headphones. Maybe it has to do with my config.

No updates since March on my M5 8.4" Uk wifi?? WTF Huawei, you never change
@kedge probaly you would like to have a look at HFF, there are several new updates available. Either do a manual update using HFF or wait another few days until the update arrives via OTA.
Only update there seems since the one I have is 151 but not approved.
Still really not a good sign not having monthly security updates.

Anyone got any opinions on the screen/ratio for reading pdfs and web browsing? I'm on the fence about getting one of these.
I have firmware version .122 i found on FF that there is .123 available and approved for install so i use vpn to force update but during install it fails at few percent that it failed to verify. What to do?
Thanks
Also does the storage option for SD install of apps do something?
Still not able to figure out how to stop the damned music app from blaring every time I connect via bluetooth to my car stereo. I'm thinking the problem may be at the car stereo end as others are not having this issue. My latest nuisance is constantly turning on the screen accidentally. Wondering if there is any way to customize the screen wake up options. Maybe changing the behavior of the front facing button or something else. I was also having problems with applications shutting down mid text while using a third party keyboard. (Swype.) I finally had to delete the keyboard and go back to stock.
So for me the screen density was driving me nuts. Everything was way bigger than my previous tablet, even after setting the view mode to "small".
I fixed this by going into developer options and setting the smallest width to 750. More fits on the screen now. Much better.
These are my thoughts so far - mostly suck and it seems neither Google or anyone else really cares much about it.
1. Ships from 10 miles away, takes overnight shipper 3 days, 4 calls and a trip down there to get it, If Google sends your package through Golden State, the worst shipping company on earth, have them hold it and drive down there.
2. First set of headphones fails, bought at launch, impossible to clean, wiring feels cheaper than the cheapest headphones I've bought from mono-price, which lasted longer. Assistant button is pointlessly small, voice commands seem to go nowhere.
3. Thin-Q screen protectors are garbage for this particular phone? 1 was too long the other refuses to mold to the corners and stay, a professional installer from Zagg did both - Their screen protectors are 3x as much and do the same thing.
4. I tried 8 different cases, they either looked like crap or didn't protect the phone well - Incipio has a silicone case but it's fugly and gets dirty. The Spigen case I ended up with is almost a hard plastic and I worry about the rear glass with it.
5. The speakers are better but the case causes my hands to go numb from the minibass.
6. Headphones dont get loud enough.
7. Screen looks brown and dim up until and over 92% brightness.
8. Screen flickers, reset the phone completely and it went away but it's creeping back.
9 Processor hangs, alot.
10 Camera is awesome when it works but processor hanging makes it sketchy to use for fast shots and often I just see a black screen.
11. Multi tasking no.
12. Call reception is a step down from 2.
13. Powered by Chrome is now apparently immortal
14. Increasing volume checks notifications instead of increasing volume.
15. Most of my voice commands do nothing, either they don't even register on the search screen or nothing happens IE set timer, words appear, claim to set - nothing.
16. Notifications galore.
17. Somehow to blame for the fact I can't listen to podcasts in order from beginning to end.
18. zoom out for full screen YouTube is annoying every time.
19. Pimsleur doesn't work like it did on the Pixel 2
20. The got damn figure 8 screen all the time.
21. Bluetooth fails all the time.
22. I only have 3 apps, 2 freak out all the time - Tinder and Skymap
23. 1/3 of the time I do directions it changes car to walking and tells me to install android auto
24. Phone is using 40% memory with no apps or photos in cache and user data.
Why you just don't change the phone to another one? I don't have any of your problems, maybe this phone isn't for you..
I would probably suggest you get a replacement or just get a refund and pick up something else. I personally had a problem with the charging port and got a replacement . I haven't had any problems since then.
